I fear for the younger generations though, Common Core is seriously going to screw up the schooling system more than it already is.

When people complain about MLP:FiM episodes over everything instead of just enjoying it and being glad that we've gotten as many seasons that we did and that it didn't get canceled.

Common Core.
I hate it with a fiery passion, and I'm not even in school anymore. I loathe it. I absolutely despise the lesson plans that teachers have to use. The elementary school part of it is the worst. Because you have to start when they're young, right?

If you live in the US and know any elementary-age kids, just keep a close eye on what their homework is and ask them every once in a while about what they're learning in school. Please...

I have a friend on FB who is a blogger so I hear about this 2 or 3 times a day.  From what I know about it, it has to be the worst thing the government could ever do.  Now don't get me wrong, I know next to nothing about the American education system but from what i've been seeing circulating in terms of exactly what is being taught, and how it is being taught, and with the amount of civil unrest it is causing, the government must be so blind and stupid not to see how the country is taking it.

And then there is the people being scolded/arrested for objecting it publicly...I'm glad all I have to deal with is .....whatever little scandal my government is facing now....and of course we can't forget good old Rob Ford  X3

What's Common Core?

From my five minute Googleing, I think it's the Government's way of improving national test scores. Because test scores are apparently the most important thing about school, teachers are being forced to teach a pre-planned lesson syllabus to bring up scores. In turn, kids learn to hate school more than they already do, and learn even less than they previously would because all we seem to care about is the national average of test scores.
Effectively, education is being nationalized; every student across the country will be learning the exact same thing, regardless of expectations, and the expectations of common core standards seem pretty pathetic.
At least, this is what I got from my Goolgeing.

At any rate, I'm glad I'm in college.

Actually, that's pretty much the cover story of Common Core.
I'd go in-depth about how pure evil Common Core is, but that would involve accusing people of corruption and indoctrination, among other things.

^^^^^ You'd think people would notice there's something weird about it from how people get in massive trouble for objecting to it publicly.
A school board held a meeting where they talked on and on to parents about how "good" Common Core is, and if the parents wanted to ask a question, they had to write it down on a piece of paper and hand it in, so the school board employees could pick and choose what to answer. A guy stood up and started vocally asking them questions, which they refused to answer. He ended up escorted out of the building by police, while shouting to the other parents to do research about Common Core online.

The weather stations have been having a hard time accurately predicting the cold front, winter weather, and winter storms this week, so they keep being wrong about stuff and things keep happening sooner than we thought. I really hope they're right that the winter storm won't come here. I don't wanna lose power and be surrounded by sleet. :c

I have had it with the anti-vaxxer crowd. For years they have spread their harmful lies to the American public based on absolutely zero evidence that important life saving vaccines cause autism, which has been thoughtfully disproven again and again.

Health and medicine are something I take extremely seriously. Nothing increases persons quality of life better than being healthy and free of physical ailments. So when crackpot MORONS like Jenny Mccarthy and Bill Maher try to vilify and undermine vaccination I get upset; very upset. I get angry. Because of the fearmongering of these two idiots and their posse of lemming followers, well meaning but ignorant parents are being scared out of vaccinating their children. Vaccination rates are dropping - hard. Dropping below the crucial herd immunity threshold. Because of this, terrible deseases like measles and pretusus rubella that were though eradicated are starting to pop back up. If vaccinations continue to drop the nation is going to see another pandemic. All because a couple of far-left anti-corporate partisan hacks care more about spreading their paranoid hatred of big pharma than saving lives.

Surely Jenny Mccarthy knows that fewer vaccinations equal more diseases right? I mean she's stupid, but she can't be THAT stupid. What does she have to say about the situation?

"I do believe sadly it's going to take some diseases coming back to realize that we need to change and develop vaccines that are safe. If the vaccine companies are not listening to us, it's their f___ing fault that the diseases are coming back. They're making a product that's s___. If you give us a safe vaccine, we'll use it. It shouldn't be polio versus autism."

This woman disgusts me. It's not vaccine companies fault that these diseases are returning, Jenny. It's YOUR fault! Vaccines are safe; mountains of evidence say so, but you're too darned stupid and stubborn to accept it.

I hope and pray that the American public comes to their senses, and soon. Even my own mother is suspicious of vaccinations now...and she's the house supervisor of my hospital. I shutter to think of medical professionals like her discouraging parents from vaccinating their children.

I have a deep-seated phobia of needles, yet I still get vaccinations. :I Though, to be fair, I'm more afraid of getting blood drawn than getting a shot. It wasn't a shot that traumatized me...

Reminds me: It's nice and all that my high school encouraged students to give blood and had people on campus who could draw their blood, but really, in 12th grade, on blood donation day, people wouldn't shut up about it. It was all anyone was talking about the whole day, giving blood, on and on. I wanted to go home so bad. I didn't feel good.
Buuut, my mom wouldn't pick me up early. :s *Sigh*

So, a weather station is saying the nearby winter storm might come to us after all, instead of harmlessly passing us by.
It better not knock the power out! The Dream Team is streaming tonight! The Dream Team! DD: I've been waiting for this livestream all week! There are two types of Yogscast livestreams that I especially like: Ones that include Sips and ones that include the Dream Team.

There's a rumor that they want to apply the Common Core rules to private schools and home schooling. I haven't really done any research to verify it, as I'm somewhat busy, though.
