Conclusion:
This is mostly due to my inaction so far, but this MotW seems inconclusive as well.

I've been talking to Blue Shield, and he's shared a few ideas that I'd like to get everyone's opinions on.
The rank name changes could be tied to different branches of the military based upon our race.

Pegasi would be the Airforce, Unicorns would be Navy, and Earth Ponies would be Marines.
The highest rank being at the top, they would be as follows.

Ginkiha - Oriens  Training in the Dojo?
Xhroria  Aside from my personal liking of this song, I can't think of a use for it. 
MENDES - Inhumanoid  Definitely for a duel with a higher up in the Herd.

I like these, but I can't really hear any of them as an actual theme for the Herd itself.
