well I can't believe they went the old Spider-man villain Carnage story on us.
shapeshifters? honestly that's kinda lame, especially if they feed on LOVE.
what revenge was she talking about? what long sought crystals in the caverns under canterlot?
so many holes in the plot. It's like the whole episode was a fanfic that some 10 year old had written.
I was disappointing that this was a season finale the last few episodes have been outstanding and to end it like this was a real drag.
Princess Celestia was the one to learn the lesson this episode, does that mean she writes herself a letter?
should Cadence/Shining Knight really be leaving the saftey of Canterlot to go on a honeymoon alone without any guards now that the changeling threat is out there?
who do you trust now? I mean there now has to be a doubt is that pony really themselves or a changeling?
Luna shows up to stand watch at night and for the reception but NOT at the wedding or guarding the castle when the changelings attack.
No prince Blueblood (not even going into detail there), most all the guest are ponyville citizens not canterlot which made no sense at all, a "royal" wedding yet the gala is more of a royal event than this wedding.
I can go on with the loopholes but it would take til next season started, this episode should never have been done.

meh, it wasn't TOO bad.  Nice songs and animation, anyways.  Whatever you might say about the plot (and I agree with you) it's got its upsides.

Poor Lyra heartstrings..Went to Canterlot to be a bridesmaid, and meet all sorts of royalty...ends up imprisoned, brainwashed, and then denied a the symbolic next-marriage by Rarity  *-*. Also, Cutie Mark Crusaders Flower girls are a go!  0:) ono :s

But...VILLAIN SONGS!! A SONG, AND A REPRISE! THE WIN HAS BEEN DOUBLED!

Loved the episodes! I admit the plot seemed like there were a lot of holes to be filled in, and the conclusion was definitely rushed, but see my Theory Crafting below for more on what I think was gained from this episode World-Building wise!

Theory-Crafting Incoming!  ^-^
Spoiler: show
Quick thought; Anyone else think that Evil!Cadence's reference to an ancient group of greedy unicorns in the mines underneath Canterlot might be a reference to...Changeling History?

Think about it: Greedy unicorns, Ancient mines...the Changelines are all Vaguely unicorn-shaped and seem to use Unicorn magic in a similar way (You know, minus the Cutie-Mark thing. I guess we could just assume, that mechanics wise, it's as though every changeling had a cutiemark in Deception/Vampirism).

I'd say the changelings are distant descendents of the Greedy Unicorns who lived below Canterlot, and its been added to the "Official Puppet String's Headcannon" (If Changeling Queens are immortal like Alicorn Princesses, then that would explain how the Evil!Cadence knew about the tunnels beneath Canterlot).

Oh, anyone else now considering a Changeling Villain-OC? I know I am  ^-^
Awww, Im gonna have to rewrite my OC backstories... oh, and look what's back: Im a Twilight/Fluttershy/Rarity hybrid, mostly Twi!

The Wandering Magus

Spoiler: show
maybe it's something like the Blanks?  The unicorns were too greedy, and were cursed by Luna to become deformed beings that lived forever, unable to feel love yet needing it to live?

Great music, including three new songs, Luna showing up again, even though only for a short while, DJ-PON3/Vinyl Scratch, previous ponies from episodes showing up, and a fun love story. A new race for people to explore, and I'm looking forward to what people will do with them. Had some fighting in it, though it was made very cartoony. Not sure what Pinkie Pie was doing though. A great season finale! Definitely my favorite of the season, if not the series!

Well, when I first heard about this, I thought this episode would be another Mare Do Well.
But then I saw that sneak peak of the Twilight minigun with the clones and guessed most of the plot.
And yet it was still SO AWESOME :3 :3
THREE songs, so many great faces, talking sandwich/Lyra, Luna/Scratch appearance, defeating enemy NOT with EoH :D :D
So happy right now and am ready for the swarm of fics and pics of changelings

best episode EVER.

but seriously. loved it so much. so many cameos. and VINYL SCRATCH, BABY.

plot was great. was honestly expecting a stupid little wedding themed "everything goes wrong" episode, even a few minutes into the episode. but WOW. that was great. loved the villain song in the second part. very disney-esque. well, older disney. when villain songs were masterpieces of art. loved the voice acting for the new characters. love the changelings. love Celestia's active role.

i dunno. this may be my new favorite episode. well, episodes.

Somepony's a cranky doodle donkey. Plot holes aside, it was a great episode, dude. It was huge! And at least they didn't go the typical way of having the villain be defeated with the Elements of Harmony. At least they had the villain be defeated with the power of love in a way that made at least a little sense (Cadence funneling her magic into Shining Armor's spell) and wasn't lame. At least Chrysalis (the villain) got her own song. :3 And I'm sure the guards went with Cadence and Shining, and the part with them "driving" away without guards was just for show. "what long sought crystals in the caverns under canterlot?" Right, because we've already been told every single thing there is to know about Canterlot, haven't we? [/sarcasm]

I like Puppet Strings' and The Wandering Magus's theories on what the changelings are, how Chrysalis knew about the caverns under Canterlot, and why they feed on love. By the way, feeding on love is a muffin a lot better than feeding on blood or being a succubus.

Though, I also don't understand why Luna wasn't there for more stuff. I'm glad that she at least popped back up at the end to say "Did I miss anything?" But still, while I was watching the episode, I wondered where she was during the wedding. I expected to see her try to help. And it was weird to see a lot of Ponyville ponies there.

But all in all, it was actually an amazing episode! I'm kind of glad that the mane 6 weren't the heroes this time. As soon as they went for the EoH, I was like "Great.. Woosh, rainbow, the end." I like when a show switches things up a bit, especially if they don't have the main character(s) always, always, always be the hero. You know? That was one thing I started getting so sick of in Bleach to the point where I wanted

One more thing to note, about Luna: she seemed to be busy doing other things outside of Canterlot, as seen when the shield opens up a hole for her to enter. They may have still thought the threat was still outside, and she was investigating. And it was an amazing episode, a great season finale. And we can't say that most of the guests are Ponyville citizens, seeing as how there was that great big crowd outside the window.

Oh, true. I didn't think about that. After all, why put up a barrier if you know the threat is probably already in Canterlot? And I did see posh, sophisticated ponies/unicorns in the crowd during the Le Gasp!! moments.

I just think it was too much like a fanfic more than something that Studio B came up with, the best part of it was the songs. The rest of it was just meh compared to the previous episodes that actually had a flowing storyline and consistent plot that made sense. I don't like insider information if your going to introduce a new race/character/villain it is customary to not only fully explain the backstory BUT also to explain WHY they are doing the evil deeds. If Trixie, Discord, Gilda, or Iron Will decided to attack Canterlot for "revenge" you would not only know why but it wouldn't be some half referenced inside information that we only get 1 or 2 sentences about. Discord had a back story, a reason, a goal, and a clear target unlike This shapeshifting queen that said she would have what she dreamed of since she was a little girl but then said she JUST found out about the wedding in the same sentence.  It was just way too inconsistent to be a good story. It was a rushed episode to try and build off the real royal wedding in England and it shows.  I am very disappointed that they didn't keep the same quality of excellence that the rest of the season carried there wasn't another plot hole filled episode in season 2 at all. The songs make me give this episode a 2/5 stars and that's because I loved the flashbacks with Cadance and Twilight.

I like when a show switches things up a bit, especially if they don't have the main character(s) always, always, always be the hero. You know? That was one thing I started getting so sick of in Bleach to the point where I wanted

someone other than Ichigo to defeat Aizen. But at least Aizen didn't die, so I can live with that at least.

Either way, I looooved the episode! It was so awesome! :D[/spoiler]

I see what you're saying there. Yeah, all I got from the plot was that Chrysalis wanted to rule Equestria so she and her minions could feed on the ponies' love. I guess feeding on love is better than feeding on fear, except for the fact that it apparently drains the ponies a lot.

"(Ticktock, time is running out) What are you doing now?
I don't know where you are, don't even know your name.
They think I'm crazy, my heartbeat goes up..."
