will greatly depend on who's writing and drawing and how much they understand their own demographic and story.

The ol' 90s movies were a lot better than what we've got going on now. But I have to admit, Gravity Falls is actually a pretty good cartoon. I wasn't sure about it at first, but I like it now.

Yes the fourth generation is by far the greatest generation, though i feel we cannot forget are roots, as the 1st generation wasn't all that bad either.   For all we know a 5th generation could possibly be better than are current generation, though i highly doubt it always a possibility.

Except for 3.5 all the gens were decent in the least. Yes, I am talking about 2 and 3 because I loved them as a kid and that was their goal.

To this day i still feel as if Generation 3.5 needed an exorcist. 

But yeah i know what you mean which is why i stated and felt upon the fact that we shouldn't ever forget are roots, each of the my little pony generation had a hand in creating the generation we've known in loved today, though out of the previous generation the 1st generation was my favourite.

The drawing style and music are extremely powerful factors, I think.  If you took the dialogue for G1S1, and put it to modern music + modern animation, it would have been quite similar to G4, I think.
