What's Common Core?

From my five minute Googleing, I think it's the Government's way of improving national test scores. Because test scores are apparently the most important thing about school, teachers are being forced to teach a pre-planned lesson syllabus to bring up scores. In turn, kids learn to hate school more than they already do, and learn even less than they previously would because all we seem to care about is the national average of test scores.
Effectively, education is being nationalized; every student across the country will be learning the exact same thing, regardless of expectations, and the expectations of common core standards seem pretty pathetic.
At least, this is what I got from my Goolgeing.

At any rate, I'm glad I'm in college.

I've never heard of the term "Common Core" in any form at my school. I'm a Junior... And really, the only thing that's really ticking me off is APUSH! :l

The world's so much about businesses and money and such. We don't trust one another and it's hard to do so. And seemingly, it appears that scores are the proof of someone who appears to top all others. It's like school is becoming more of a long challenging game than actual education.

Especially the ridiculous pace in AP subjects.

Other than that, they have never mentioned to us "Common Core" in any way or form. Unsure what kinds of schools it applies to though. I attend an International Baccalaureate College-prepatory school.

My dad keeps yelling at me for not having a job when I am spending all my time studying for finals. Like, I've made it clear to him that I plan to look for one when classes end (next week), but he doesn't cease to nag me.  >:/

Get through education first, AND THEN a job. I think that's how it works.

Ay... Life. Like you can make us suffer any more than how we already are with these tests, quizzes... Finals! :I
And participating in the economy in some job and earning money to survive...

Hey, good luck with your Finals! Hopefully you get a nice well-deserved break after getting through those darn things.

Jenzy, a lot of people who go to college also need a job to pay for their needs and/or college itself. The first things I'll do after settling in when I move are applying for college and finding a job. :I

Anyway, being sick sucks... :s

Julius, like I didn't know that already.

Everyone in college or work's problems seem to usually relate to economical or money in general. Eh, money pretty much rules a lot of things since then. Sure, I'll get to being annoyed at that point. Might as well just enjoy the complaints, and do well in school, learning what to do to do well in the future~

Just reality. Hope I soon figure out what I want in life. Gotta pick my courses, or even start courses early so I can get through it faster. And a job that I'll actually enjoy doing like something relating to design or being a Cartoonist. But most likely what will actually help out others like engineering designs.Did I mention I absolutely adore planning and drawing/designing of things? cx

How most of the time when my name is called, it's like I'm in trouble. And often it goes like:
"Jenzy..." *long pause here*
*explanation here*

Usually, the feeling I get from that is :-3 or :\, but it's more like  >.< or DD:

And also the feeling from when somehow, I have to break up a rather pointless argument on two topics that collide to each other, and neither agree on something. Especially like show characters or movies/games, etc. Dudes. Nothing is better or worse if you both like it. It's just a game/show/movie/character. Both are just as equally good.

Surprised we're all still friends with each other, even with the pointless debates, which is good. But geez! Those two arguing. It's just ridiculous... :l (One of them has the habit of not wanting to stop like "I reject your reality and substitute it with my own." It's funny watching them battle it out though their words, but still ridiculous overall.)

And shoulder pain... Ugh... Must be from all this sitting. X3 I should stretch more and get more active. Darn Internet. :P

There's a rumor that they want to apply the Common Core rules to private schools and home schooling. I haven't really done any research to verify it, as I'm somewhat busy, though.

I would think the government has no control over these areas of education, and alot of parents are now opting for the home schooling alternative now that CC is being introduced.  I too can find this out very easily but i'm about to leave for a party...

One word:

SNOW.

>:O
at least you have snow, last two years have been nothing more than a thin dusting; and trust me, you'll miss it when it's gone.

Come to Canada.
Trust me.

Well.......yeah, If I had the time to get back into skiing I may change my mind on snow, but since the only time I get to interact with it is when i'm doing 180s in intersections and 10 feet in the air changing the big retail sign......yeah, not too fond of it either

Jenzy

There there... it's not the snow's fault. It's the dang weather and climate of the areas y'all live at! lol

But, eh. Snow (or Ice) is pretty bad for when you have to drive somewhere, and it's slowing you down, or making the controls for getting on the road quite a challenge. And when you have to get somewhere important like work.

This has been overused probably but... the lack of time! >A<

Well, proper free-time. Got a lot of work to do, and the only way to get some other thing finished such as an upcoming birthday, where I want to draw something for someone, is to mix it up with the work time I need. And I usually need a lot of time to work, for darn note taking and narrative questions... And even presentations, where I'd be screwed if I finished last minute.

Working through it, while important, gets me to be missing the ability to finish a gift art for someone that I've wanted to do...

So much work is given on the 2 days off we have for education. Even if it's just 2-3 different assignments, those still take away so much time of leisure away, and time to do other things... :c (The only thing it can't really take away is food time. Gotta sneak that in and get nourished.)

LostSanity

Allow me to be more specific...

It's not the snow that annoys me. It's the shoveling it part that does.

I wish that my dad thought this way. But he thinks I'm a lazy good for nothing because I can't get a job yet. It's not even that I haven't applied places, I have, they just keep turning me down because I am a FULL TIME STUDENT whose schedule is too poopy to have time to work.  >:/ >:/

We get TV, internet, and phone from a single company, and yesterday, they went all wonky or something.

I couldn't watch TV here in the den, our internet died, and we weren't able to call the company about it. Really.

I got bored, and I ended up drawing Pinkie Pie kinda badly. :\

Midnight Breeze

Having lived in Natchitoches for 22 years I've come to despises the Christmas festival.

I despised it in high school, when outlandish tourist traffic made it take half and hour to get to and from school where it usually too five minutes.

I despised it at my first job as a dishwasher at a restaurant located right on the riverbank, where during the festival I had to pay the entrance free to get onto the riverbank just to go to work, and worked from noon to midnight with no breaks on the busiest weekends.

And I despise it now when the pharmacy closed for several days; as fate would dictate it right as I ran out of meds. I'm going through some pretty terrible withdrawal symptoms.

I sit here counting the hours until I can get some much needed paroxetine.
