Season 4 will possibly have 26 episodes

documents  for DHX Media's 2012 financial year indicate that they have also been paid to produce a fourth season
it gives credit for Daniel Ingram for 91 episodes for the first 4 seasons, which when subtracted from 65, means that Season 4 will have 26 episodes
and it was confirmed by Meghan McCarthy

     I wish they would produce less episodes and, in turn, have hour long episodes.
     I know this is extreme wishful thinking, but it feels like to me that the writers want to do more with the episodes than they can because of their 22 minute restriction. Many of the episodes lately have felt rushed. But, I would assume, the episodes would be more story driven because there would be room for substance, given they had more time to work with.
     Most of the episodes seem to have a good set-up to a story, but they hardly ever seem to have time to resolve the issue in a way that doesn't feel superficial.

Not surprising. The only reason that season 3 only had 13 episodes was because with the new leadership in development, hasbro wanted to play it safe and only order half as many. That way if the show bombed they would be able to cancel it without losing too much money. Since season 3 proved popular they have reassurance enough to continue normally.

I will be watching new episodes till they will be made like now - if they even try to make something like g3 again I'm out(of course I'll still be a brony, but I'm not in the fandom to watch g3 like animation)
