I'm still likely going to choose Fennekin, but I would've preferred it if its final evolution was more like some of the speculated forms, looking more like a fox from Japanese myth.
I wouldn't have minded if it looked like this:

Actually, my friend came up with an interesting theory which also makes sense as to why they don't look like what we thought they would:

They're based on RPG classes. Chespin is a fighter/knight, Quilladin's name gives is away, Paladin. Fennekin is a mage that becomes a wizard and Froakie is a rogue that becomes a ninja.

Somehow, I think I know which site you're talking about... though I doubt you'll be able to get it from there.
