Adding extra characters into it is not a new opening.

It's not the same opening from season 1, so it's new. The fact that you're standards for a new opening are different, is another topic.

To add additional characters to an opening and calling it a new opening doesn't make it a new opening. That's like if they took an episode, added or removed characters in it then introduced it as the next new episode. I can see fanwork done like that but for a joke or parody.

Something found in the dictionary isn't going to be used by people the way it is described and it doesn't go into detail of what a "new opening to a cartoon" means. That's just the term new which can describe anything in different variants. You can't honestly believe that the dictionary can describe everything? If you can find the definition of a "New Opening to a Cartoon" on the dictionary I would like to read it.

Once again explain how anyone would believe an episode is new just by adding in new characters that say the same lines as the ones they replaced? The definition of a "new" episode to people is a completely different angle, different story, different music, characters in different situations as a whole package not just "remove a few characters and just substitute for other characters." Basically that opening is a "redone/redux opening" as in it merely got stuff added into it but it's not a new opening.

That said to me a new opening is one with different music, different scenery, different characters, different camera work the whole set done differently enough to convince it's audience it's a new opening. Not a redone version.

There's no need to argue over the definition of the word new. Night Pony was simply verifying that his use of the word was correct in the circumstance. You should just accept that a word can mean many things and not get hung up upon it because someone else's opinion is different than yours. That's just not very nice.
