Hawthorn simply lifted an eyebrow, his farmpony muscles rippling as he shifted and looked Blob right in the eyes.  "Do Ah look like Ah'm tellin' a tall tale, pard'?"

Around town, Hawthorn had always maintained a reputation of honesty and integrity, and frankness to the point of rudeness.  He never told white lies or half-truths, since Pa always said that a lie can never be washed away by truth.  It was a tradition carried down the Blossom line, back to the time when the Knights of the Earth Tribe would duel to the death over others impugning their honor.  The physical fights had gone out of style long ago, of course, but the farmpony wasn't one to let somepony just go and impugn the honor of his entire family either.

Feather looked fearfully from pony to pony, knowing how grave an accusation Blob had just made.

True, he has no magic to fake, but Ursa Majors can't be put to sleep by a simple lullaby. tell me, your great great great grandfather was an earth pony correct?

Using what magic? if i'm correct, and the pony in question is, in fact, an earth pony, it couldn't be. the only way the now-princess Twilight was able to subdue an Ursa minor was with intense magic!

He shrugged his massive shoulders.  "Pa jes' got a bit o' th' tradin' an' farmin', not ta say Cousin's farmin' skills're BAD, mind you, but ain't the same.  Grannie Blossom said Grannie Pie always had more o' th' knack fer prognostication, Grannie Apple fer farmin'.  Mah family ain't th' richest, but 'tain't th' poorest either.  Uncle Orange got th' bits, but Pa got jes' as much honesty, good hard work an' wisdom as th' others."

Hawthorn just chuckled and shook his head.  "Y'all city folk ain't know a pitchfork from a hay bale.  Grannie Blossom, Grannie Smith, an' Grannie Pie, we're all related we are.  Them skills go back a long ways, 'fore there WAS an Equestria, back 'fore Discord first came 'bout, back 'fore Grogar, 'fore Tirak, 'fore th' Smooze, 'fore everythin'.  Don't y'all go dissin' what y'all don' understand.  Great-great-grandpa Nightshade ain't need no fancy shmancy horn t' make that there Ursa listen, jes' a flute an' some good ol' Earth Pony skills th' rest o' y'all ponies ain't ne'er gonna get."
