I actually loved the song. It's not the best, as it's still behind Babs Seed from the CMC and other songs, but it was good. The training scene remind me of Rocky Balboa, and now I want a montage of that scene playing "Gonna Fly Now" lol

Edit: Just went to a video of the song, muted it and played "Gonna Fly Now", and IT'S JUST AWESOME! lol

So... um... I'm looking forward to the next episode as well.

Spoiler: show
No. It's not because of the Super Hero Ponies.

So... why am I looking forward to it?

Simple...

Because Spike says "Personas"

I'LL GET MY PERSONA SERIES MUSIC READY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Honestly, I didn't like this episode very much, i kinda got the impression after seeing the multitude of spoilers posted all over dA, facebook, skype etc(seriously...it sucks that the show is Canadian-produced but doesn't air in Canada)...

Now as for why I don't like it....i'm not a comic guy..in fact I only got one of the references they were throwing at me, which made the whole episode feel alien to me.  I understand the idea...they need filler episodes, but that was just....to off key.

But kudos to them for trying to make a decent Spike episode after the last episode and it's failiurisms..)oh yeah, that's a word now).  I'm sure the 95% of the fanbase who understands the comic book world would like it....I didn't X3

[spoiler]loved it. I love spike, and just the premise itself... awesome!/spoiler]

I'm not really into superhero comic books either, so you're not the only one who barely got any of the references. X3

So, obviously, Fluttershy was the Hulk. The Hulk is so popularized, pretty much everyone knows who he is and what he's like.
I guess Rarity was kind of like the uhhh... Green Lantern..? Except a very, very fabulous version.
Was Applejack Wonderwoman? All I really know about Wonderwoman is that she has some thing with a lasso.

Having dove head-first into the Champions hero universe about two years ago knowing next to nothing about any superhero stuff I can certainly understand not picking up on things that would be obvious to people who've been into comics for far longer. Certainly a fun episode to watch though. However, I will agree it did feel very much like a filler episode (not that I'll complain, I still enjoyed it).

Villain was, of course, about as cliche as comic villains can get, classic vault robbery with newbie heroes messing up with new powers, etc. Though I have to give them credit for how fast they adapted to it. I do think the pacing was a little fast to keep up with everything though and I'll probably end up watching it again to pick up on stuff I missed.

And of course flutterhulk had me laughing pretty hard, but it was even funnier when she noticed the way her friends were looking at her.

Oh, and leave it to Pinkie Pie to steal cupcakes from a comic book.

Spoiler: show
Well, I really enjoyed this episode. It was fun to see some super hero cliche action, and I laughed hard thinking about all the things Pinkie would do with that superpower.

But the thing that caught me up the most was: Why are the fixing Celestia and Luna's old castle in the Everfree? Even if the Everfree Forest has become a better place after the return of the Elements of Harmony to the Tree, there is no reason to fix the destroyed royal castle. If the need anything from there, just take it to the one in Canterlot. What could be the reason for that?

Twilight needs a castle of her own. After all, once Cadence became Princess of the Crystal Empire, she got her own castle.

Spoiler: show
I have a theory. Take into account Celestia and Luna living in Canterlot now instead of their old castle and Cadence living in the Crystal Empire. This accounts for three out of four Alicorn princesses. Then add the proximity of the Everfree and subsequent ruined castle to Ponyville.

Plus considering how Celestia has been trying to find the right student to study under her depending on how much weight you give Equestria Girls' story, and throw in the fact that she purposely sent the Apple family to a location so close to the forest which eventually grew into Ponyville which she eventually sent Twilight to (methinks Celestia has had a plan in motion for a long, long time now).

At this point I would be completely surprised if Twilight didn't end up being given the Everfree castle to live in by the end of this season given all this plus the fact that they were fixing it up in this episode.

Edit: Pheh, beaten because I typed too much.  lol

ArtVeigar

Spoiler: show
I just don't think the castle in Everfree the best place for Twilight to live. It's too big for a single princess, and it's no like Twilight to live in an isolated place with a bunch of servants. Even if it's easier to reach now, it's still a good walk from Ponyville, and the Everfree isn't a place with good reputation to attract ponies. Twilight's castle should be in the center of a big town, like the ones in Canterlot and Crystal Empire. But I really like the idea of Twilight keep living in the library. A princess living among her subjects and interacting with them in her daily routine, like Twilight at the moment, is a nice concept for me.

But, at least for now, that's what makes more sense... So I'll think how it will work until it is revealed to be the truth or the opposite.

Would be cool, if they made an episode around Twilight living almost alone in this castle and first she is enjoying it (all the old books she can read now) but then she is missing everypony... would be a message at the fandom "Twilight will allways stay with her friends.. blabla" ^^

Spoiler: show
I had to take a quick look back at the season opener, but during the fight between Luna and Celestia I noticed that the Everfree didn't even exist a thousand years back. There are still quite a few trees, but they're a bit more spread out than a forest would usually appear with a lot of open areas mixed in. Kind of like the non-Everfree sides of Ponyville.

Honestly, I suspect that the forest was just the result of nature reacting to discord's magic from his failed plan, and since it was contained by the tree of harmony which is now back to its full strength I wouldn't be surprised if the forest started to weaken/recede whether on its own or by ponies clearing it back. Going by the few shots of the forest after the opener I've already seen the paths through the forest getting brighter and they haven't been attacked yet on their now multiple trips to the castle so I think it's already started (granted it hasn't been prudent to the story to have them fight anything else in there so far).

As for Twilight living in a big town, it is not much of a stretch to think that with a weakened Everfree forest and news that the newest princess is living in the old Everfree castle that at least some ponies would move in there. Towns sprang up around the castles of lords and ladies pretty quickly in our own medieval age and the Everfree castle did used to be the capital of Equestria.

The only real problem I can agree with is the distance from Ponyville where all her friends live of course. While I can see some of her friends being willing to move to a new city around the old castle, others like the Apples are pretty heavily rooted in Ponyville. Rarity at the least I can definitely see moving there if a new city does sprout up.

one thing I have to say about the new episode: how the heck did Pinkie bring back cupcakes? everything else from there but the memories stayed, but not the cupcakes? I know, Pinkie's compliance to the laws of reality are limited, but that was not reality they were in. it was more like a simulated reality, like the physical form being kept in one place as molecules, the mind inside of this world. like a dream created by another pony. By the way, who wrote the comic? it had to be a strong unicorn or an alicorn to be able to do an enchantment like that. Maybe trollestia?

Pinkie Pie has the ability to break  the fourth wall and to a lesser extent is somewhat an interdimensional being (i.e. Equestria Girls).
