Mist Chaser

2013 May 11, 00:11:01 Last Edit: 2013 May 13, 22:07:40 by Mist Chaser
Name: Mist Chaser.

Age/Gender: Colt going onto stallion

Personality: Very polite, cool-headed, loves to fly, loves to be involved, proud, protective in violent situations.

Appearance:

"Hello there!"

Story: Mist was born in Cloudsdale. He did not speak much as a filly, which made the other fillies make fun of him. Mist was still friendly and gullible to a fault though, which made him easy to trick. He really didn't have any close friends, and forgot his problems by flying around whenever he could. Mist became a great flier by doing this, and soon his classmates could barely keep up with him in that field.

Mist got Namid as a gift from his parents when he was still a filly. Namid did not like Mist and refused to obey him. After ignoring him and refusing his tokens of friendship, Mist finally became frustrated enough to challenge Namid to a race. Namid beat Mist by a few miles, which made him even more frustrated because he usually won. Mist declared Namid his rival, and they've flown together ever since.

Namid became a second flight teacher to Mist, and a bit like his brother even though Namid would never admit it. Mist's wings became larger and stronger over time. His cutie mark did not appear for a long, long time. His classmates all got their cutie marks except him. Mist became desperate, and tried a lot of things, but nothing he tried worked. He knew he loved to fly, his weather pegasi magic was great, he didn't get hit by one lightning bolt, why didn't he get his cutie mark yet?

One day, a unnatural, non-pegasi created storm approached Cloudsdale. The pegasi could not get rid of it. While everyone took cover inside their homes, Mist stood outside with Namid.
"Do you want to race?" Mist asked Namid. Namid looked at him like he was crazy but then slowly nodded. Mist wanted to challenge himself to the limit. They got into their ready positions and took off. Despite the windy, wet weather, Namid pulled ahead of him, as usual. Mist ignored the lightning bolts flashing around him and took after Namid.
Along the way, he got hit by a powerful lightning bolt.
Mist cried out, and fell. Namid screeched and dove after him, but even if he was a great flier he couldn't carry a nearly full-grown pony!
Along the way, Mist had a epiphany. He naturally found his pegasi magic and began to actually control the electricity inside him. Directing the energy to his wings, Mist focused on the finish line, stretched out his wings, now surrounded by a lightning aura that made his wings seem three times as large. He took off at thrice the speed he had before, and ended up breaking the sound barrier and bolting to the finish line. The lightning pushed him even farther past that, and then ran out of energy. Mist couldn't control the momentum and ended up crashing into the finish line.
As he fainted, his cutie mark appeared on his flanks. He had a shocking destiny ahead of him (*laughs and slaps cloud*).

Cutie mark: Lightning, or the ability to control it. It's a dangerous ability to both himself and others, so he doesn't use it often. He's a natural at it, but he still needs a lot of practice.

Mist's Pet:
Name: Namid (Means Star Dancer)
Race: Golden Eagle
Age: Adult
Personality: Proud to a fault, protective like his owner, extremely independent, competitive
Gender: Male
Relationship with Mist: The only thing he feels that he can lower himself to do is to fly with Mist. He thinks that's the only reason that they're friends even though Mist is secretly held dearly in his heart. He and Mist have a tight 'partner' bond, they've been together for years.
Appearance:

Story: Namid was born into a important family in the bird world. His family was a knight's family in simple terms of rank. He was charged to protect all of birdkind, and trained to fly in aerial combat since a fledgling. He was given magic by the secret bird gods to make him faster and stronger, a potential champion or hero to save birdkind. One day, he left to see the world. He met a pony named Fluttershy, and so he became interested in looking at pegasi a bit closer. He was adopted by Mist's parents and became an inept filly's pet. Namid was offended someone as great as he would have to obey this... this fledgling, and ignored Mist out of spite. The brat actually had the nerve to call him a rival, and since he had nothing else really that important to do since the birds were peaceful, Namid began to train him. Mist got his cutie mark, and so Namid became more interested in (and worried about, even though he'd never admit it,) Mist. He isn't with Mist as much, but comes when Mist calls for him, unless he was in a emergency.

I want to know his story  :3
Does he have a cutie mark? If so, what's his talent?

A link to my tumblr above!
Tiger's OC page. Should re-do it...

Mist Chaser

Ah yes! His cutie mark!
I'll figure that out when I'm done with his story  :o

Everything looks so great!

Hope to see you in the RP thread soon! :D

His relationship with his pet is a very good addition to his character.

As for his special talent... it's actually pretty viable. It may be a bit difficult for me to believe a cool-headed pony who doesn't like leaving his comfort zone (or so I believe since he doesn't like speaking to other ponies) would race his pet bird in a Lightning Storm. It would make more sense if he was in there to help try to clean up the weather, since he's a weather pony of exceptional skill according to the story. The ability to absorb and utilize electricity itself may require a bit of scientific explanation, as it is not common (or maybe even unheard of) for a Pegasus to actually benefit from being struck by Lightning.

Oh, I should have made it more clear that Mist Chaser's personality became more assertive and risk-taking as he grew older and gained more pride for himself. By cool-headed, I meant he didn't lose control of his emotions easily. But he still loses control from time-to-time, like during that lightning storm, which is why Namid looked at him strangely. Being a blank flank for so long and the pressure from all the other pegasi had thrown him off his sanity-rocker. A race like that could've killed him.

Mist Chaser recently got his cutie mark, so I think he's still trying to master his skill and find a job ^^
My theory is that all pegasi have control over the weather to a small extent, which includes lightning. Mist's pegasus-magic can change the lightning's heat into energy. It's like a photosynthesis for lightning I suppose. Still, Mist can be overloaded if he absorbs too much electricity and the energy can harm him if he doesn't release it in some way.
It's a dangerous skill to practice, but Mist enjoys challenging himself!  :D

Thank you for the wonderful feedback! It helps me out! I have a horrid habit of thinking everyone already knows what is going on.
