I liked the very beginning, but then the song just goes into was seems like mortal kombat, why didn't it stay with a medium pace?

I would like to let everypony know that I will be posting the new episodes in this topic as soon as they are available on YouTube, which will be a few hours after the premiere. However, anypony who watched the episodes live is welcome to discuss them in this here thread.

Also, I sincerely apologize if updating a thread that hasn't been replied to in over 120 days is against the forum rules or is a nuisance. I just felt it was only right since Season 3 premieres in about 16 hours.

Overall great episode, I wouldn't rate this higher than the Return of Harmony 2 parter, but it was up there. I feel like they should've gave King Somber more personality, not just growls and a few lines. When Celestia held up a book at the end of the episode, you know something big is going to happen during this season. Also, what is with the recent pattern of the villains being thrown away and either being banish or destroyed?

thought it was Luna holding it but whatever.

I liked all the callbacks to previous episodes and stuff, and the SOMBER TROLL route they had to take to get to the Heart   Now we're going to have to rewrite all the fanfics

speaking of which, we're gonna have to add lots of stuff to the RPs now, won't we?  Unless the auroras are only temporary.

I wanted Somber to have more personality and backstory also. Did you notice when he shattered, that his horn remained intact? I'm waiting for that to do something; I feel like his spirit is embodied in the oddly gradiented horn.
