Well, I did have a guess when you first gave the rhyme.
But I'll now confess I feared I was wrong at the time.
Now, I will state that still very uncertain am I.
Is it a cunning rat with numbers high?
My time here has measured much change, and I fear one of those changes might soon be my departure.

Though I can see where you got that,
Your answer's wrong, it's not a rat.

I've been pondering, but wasn't certain to say it loud
Is it a human being you are talking about?
Something so complex in it's simplicity
And aways makes mistakes because of it's own humanity?

You've hit bull's-eye, right on the dot!
Mankind itself and all the lot.
Wait for it...

Ah, so I was incorrect after all
It was man to whom cities fall
The cities of which man built
That crash and crumble, sway and tilt

Here's another riddle
Of which I'd like share
It is not of my own
Answer if you dare
My sincere apologies
To any and all of you
I can't remember whom
I've shown which riddles to
Therefore, it's very plausible
That it has already been done
Here, right on this thread
If so, forgive me everyone.

Spoiler: Riddle • show

What force and strength cannot get through
I with a gentle touch can do
And many in the street would stand
Were I not a friend at hand
My time here has measured much change, and I fear one of those changes might soon be my departure.

I think, my good PPBG,
That this small friend might be a KEY!
With gentle twist to open gates,
That enter might the one who waits.

Magus, your answer is correct. Sorry for the late reply.
I meant to respond sooner, but away time did fly.
My time here has measured much change, and I fear one of those changes might soon be my departure.

The Wandering Magus

Ah, do not worry, my good friend ^-^
There is no problem here to mend.
Though, would the others like to try
To answer me a riddle sly?

Or would you like riddle us?
Although I hope it's not much fuss.
Quite any way that you might try,
I'd go along with and not sigh.

You might, and then the others here
Would start their own thread, that's quite clear!

Bravo 658

Hit me with thy riddle, and my answer I shall scribble!  What have you, Wandering Magus?

The Wandering Magus

With iron weights in belly vast,
And ribs like trees in forests past,
I fly on wind, not needing wings
To Canterlot with many things.

With candles light I soar up high;
With brass and pipes I scream and sigh.
I look like I belong in sea,
But I'm not there; what might I be?

Julius

Ah Magus, sweet riddle,
Quite easy, I feel it.

The answer, a mighty airship,
And I find myself having trouble with it.

The rhyming I mean, it's not my day I fear. X3
Purr~

Bravo 658

A beautiful work of poetry it was!  Sound quite like such a zeppelin it does.

The Wandering Magus

Correct you are, good Julius!
An airship 'tis, for ribs a truss
Of wood and nails, and belly full
Of iron ballast, food and wool.

With only candle-heated air,
It soars the cloudless skies so fair.
And anywhere that it might go,
Through screeching pipes the steam will flow!

Its shape is that of mighty whale,
Yet formed of wood and moved by sail,
It will not go into the sea;
It soars much higher than a tree.

Now, since I have a riddle asked,
And Julius answered quite fast,
Who now will ask a question new
For us to ponder with a clue?

I'm a canine's voice made free
Or a whisper of a gale
I am a song, sung sweetly
By the wind through a sail
My time here has measured much change, and I fear one of those changes might soon be my departure.

A howl, perhaps?  But that can't be.
It might be sound, but no, let's see.
I must confess this riddle here
Has caught me quite off guard, my dear!

I cannot seem to answer it!
Though, might there be one here with wit
Surpassing mine to pass the test?
I'll quite applaud the answer best!

A wolf's howl that fills the night
Or the similar song of a gale
Is the answer that is right
Don't worry, you didn't fail
My time here has measured much change, and I fear one of those changes might soon be my departure.

The Wandering Magus

Ah, so it IS a howl then!
I quite applaud your skillful pen!
It was a challenge, there's no doubt,
Though now we know what 'twas about!

Now, shall one here a riddle tell?
Or shall I make up one as well?
Whatever choice seems good to thee
Will be agreeable to me.

I am one that caps the sea
While I do, I am mighty
But once I near the shore
My strength is no more

(I am being quite lazy as I write this simple rhyme. Perhaps it is you who could be the one to quiz us next time.)

My time here has measured much change, and I fear one of those changes might soon be my departure.

The Wandering Magus

Are you a whale, my pony friend?
A creature strong enough to rend
The mighty waters, yet which fails
When near to shore like rotten sails?

You do not seem to be a wave,
Which grows up high like a wet cave
When near the shore before it falls
And crashes down like fortress walls.

You do not seem to be the storm,
Which howls fiercely in its form
On land and sea and heeding not
The rocks and waves below that fought.
