Feather was skipping through the park, humming quietly to herself as Hawthorn followed reluctantly.

"Ah don't see the point o' all this.  We could be workin' on stuff, if Ah might say so," he grumbled.

Feather stopped and looked back, then walked back to her husband to put a hoof gently on his foreleg.  "i-if you don't want to... we don't have to be here.  i'm glad you could come with me, though."

Hawthorn sighed and looked away from those puppy-dog eyes.  "Whatever.  Let's go see if we can talk ta some ponies we don't know."

"Ah don't think Ah've met ye before," notes Hawthorn.  "Mah name's Hawthorn Blossom, son o' Oak Blossom.  Ah'm the proprietor o' the One Stop Carpentry Shop if y'all ever heard of it.  This here's Feather, mah wife.  She's kinda shy."

Hawthorn just sighs a bit and keeps smiling.  "Well, AH might be a bit interested.  What d'ya like inventin'?"

Feather was instantly excited again.  "Oh, I do lots of research into making spell matrices for interdimensional travel through the nether between the multiverses as well!  I couldn't figure out how to set up a coordinate system in the fifth dimension, so I tried using a sort of four-dimensional polar coordinate system based on five rays exiting at right angles to each other and used temporal and space-time runes for conservation of real-space and stabilization of internal subatomic quantum states during transitions between dimensions...."

She stuck a hoof in his mouth and blushed.  "u-um, i mean, um, sorry..."
