What makes you think he's earned it? I certainly can't think of a reason. And if there's one thing I can't stand, it's wannabe gods. There's another term I'd like to use, but it tends to make people angry."

The Prince of Lies turned away, waving a hoof as some unseen force removed him from Zion's spell, making him visible and audible once more.
Whatever this was, it wasn't native to Equestria, and no Equestrian magic could be sensed as he seemed to fade away.

"Consider it a test. I won't tell you the rules or steps necessary to complete it, but if Darky here passes, he'll get his ring right back with a written apology. Until then, though..."
After this was said, he had faded away entirely, and could be sensed nowhere in the forest, or even anywhere in Equestria itself.

That's part of the problem. His puppeteer pulls her strings, both physical and emotional. Is it really love when one of the lovers, say, unknowingly drinks a love potion? Let that sink in for a moment. Believe me, this is necessary, what I am doing. When I said he had to earn his happy ending, I MEANT IT. If it turns out to be her happy ending as well, then that's just more incentive to succeed.

Upon Zion's disappearance, the Prince had returned, looking over Dark's sleeping form. "Would hardly be a decent ending if you got eaten or something..."
He knelt down, picking the alicorn up before disappearing once more, taking his passenger with him.

A soft thud was then heard, perfectly audible to Celestia as Dark was dropped into her bed by an unknown force.

Dark Hooves comes to the sounds of Celestia crying. Sunlily, I'm sorry. I tried to get your ring back. Zion betrayed us.

Celestia: Why...must...these...things...happen? It's...alright...Honeybear...I...still...love...you.

That thief said that I forced you to love me and that our love isn't true love.

Celestia starts calming down. "Don't listen to his words, they are lies. This is no magic strong enough to make somepony love another. We have true love, you never forced me or made me take a love potion. Cadance's spell only works on those who already have love in them. It cannot create love from nothing and she didn't even use her spell on us.

If you are listening thief, I demand you return Celestia's ring right now! The shady things you say are all lies. All of it, now show yourself.

Right on cue, a ghostly image of the Prince had appeared, projected from what was most likely a safe location.

"It's frighteningly easy to make one love another, actually, and it's really quite sad when it happens... But it does. The "want it, need it" spell comes to mind, as it's effects are similar enough. I believe Ponyville would remember that one. If you can't find a satisfactory way to prove this love's legitimacy, that it's true, then you two might as well never hook up. Prince of Lies I may be, but for this, the truth is apparent. Consider this a test. A test where your godhood won't help you in the slightest. Believe me when I say that trying to find me at this point won't end well. On a mostly unrelated note, though, I'm quite sure that Discord would find this most entertaining, if a bit tame."

All I want is for Celestia to be happy, she extended her feelings to me and I happily accepted them. Our love is true, I'm not the type that would force anypony to do anything. We've known each other longer than you have even existed. True love cannot exist if the love isn't mutual. Albeit friends at first the love was there then and over the years it grew stronger. At the point we are now our love grows stronger with each passing moment. If you're trying to rip us apart, then I can say you've failed. Our true love is too strong for anypony to rip us apart. Not even Discord can take away the love that keeps us together. My magic sense is tied to my cutiemark, I can sense your mana no matter how far you run. So what do you say? Why do you think Celestia never found another to call her own? True love knows no bounds and even transcends lifetimes. The past love hasn't left this world, it is reborn into new love. Why do you think Celestia fell for me? She truly loves me and I truly love her. Her, not her title, not her possessions,  just her. That is what true love is, how could you be so narrow minded to not see that?

"Well, ain't that a lovely speech... It breaks my heart." Prince was silent for a moment, before busting out into laughter.

"You [glow=red,2,300]DUNCE.[/glow] If it were anyone else, that might've been true. But here and now...?"
The laughter stopped immediately as he began to glare. "How can you POSSIBLY expect me to believe any of that when [glow=red,2,300]you're writing the story?[/glow]"
"It is hardly narrow-mindedness when I can see the strings you're pulling. If you love her so much, then why don't you just go ahead show me. Until you do that, this conversation is over."

With that, the image disappeared.

[Also, I hope you don't take anything personally, and I apologize in advance if you did.  And, um, I can always change things around if that would make things any better. Though by this point I've already edited at least a dozen times, as I get more than a bit twitchy when I'm breaking the fourth wall for more than just humor, and even more-so when I don't see an immediate response...]

I'm done listening to your lies, begone. Leave us alone. He nuzzles Celestia and kisses her. Are you alright Sunlily?

Celestia: I'll be alright, what about the ring?

Here, you can have this one. He pulls out his necklace with a different engagement ring on it, he takes the ring off placing it onto her horn.

Celestia: Wait, this was the one you gave to Angel's Breath.

True, it was hers. I kept it in her memory. She was my life, but you are my life now. Your happiness means more to me than anything. His eyes start watering up.

Celestia: Thank you. For everything. (She kisses his lips.)

He closes his eyes, a single tear of joy falls to the ground. They release the kiss and smile at each other not saying a word.

Even after his image had vanished, Prince's voice seemed to stick around in Dark's head.

As touching as all of that was, it sadly doesn't prove much to me, except that you're determined to keep this charade going on... So you kept that other ring. Whoopee...
