So it's character development, but not in the "good guy" direction.
I can see that but...how irredeemable are we talking?

Firstly, I really need to know whether you guys want a faster paced arc, or a more long term one.

Secondly, for villain irredeemability, on a scale of Princess Luna to Queen Chrysalis, he's as straight Sombra. (Interpret my scale as you will)

I think the main issue here is that we're worrying about this: What character will you then play? You're basically asking us to blast/banish your character, inadvertedly removing them from the RP in the process.

I would also like something that effects everyone and allows people to "get into the rp"

1: Match is irredeemable of a fundamental level as he has given his body, soul, and mind over two whatever entity that corrupts him, resulting in his tainting.

2. I have two other OC's that would be good candidates for a replacement character on the good guys' side; Blazing Legend feels a sense of responsibility for Match Stick, and would most likely attempt to help and/or stop him, though Blaze wouldn't like having to work with the Royal Guard. Lt. Turnip would be a shoe in for the kind of crazy the Royal Guard would need in their battle against Match Stick, and his fanatic loyalty to the royal sisters would ensure his action.

3. A nation-wide threat would open up a large opportunity for anyone to join in the battle against a powerful attempting usurper/abomination.

Then we kick this entity's butt until he gives it back

The entity which only exists on the material plane through it's hosts and a select few magical artifacts that are protected by their bearers along with extremely dark magic that makes Sombra's magic door look like a walk in the park? Yeah, sure. Not to mention that at least the physical transformation is permanent, and where the body goes, the mind is sure to follow.

((Oh, did I forget to mention that Match Stick probably isn't the only tainted  ))

Also, I should mention that Dark!Book Keeper summoned the equivalent of Yog Sothoth, so she won't worry over something like that Even Regular!Book Keeper did her share of working with the blackest of magics.

Well if she's willing (or even unwilling, it'll work with that too) to join the tainted army, I'm sure her "dark side" wont be subjected to hatred or fear.

Though seriously, Book Keeper would never willingly work with them. And as for Dark!Book Keeper, she won't let anything get in the way of her revenge. If she has to destroy this entity or this tainted army to make sure she gets it, well, she'll do whatever it takes

You might catch Regular!Book Keeper, but it would be unlikely. As for Dark!Book Keeper...no chance of that happening. Her will is too strong for that

Okay, I'm just going to wing it until we regain momentum in the RP. Plus, I don't really have many ideas for the rising actions leading to Match's corruption.

First, why not decide how many significant events contribute to his corruption? That will give you a rough outline to start with.
