(I'll be using Azure again. Bio's on the How Well Do You Know Your OC? page. He's the pony in my sig.)
A dark blue stallion with a green mane slowly peeked his head into the library.
"Um...do you just...walk in...?" He thought. He always got nervous around strangers. Taking a deep breath, he walked in.

Doomato

Doomato heard the sound of the library's door open, "OOH! Anwother potwential membew fer de buk club! Salwutations, comwade."

Chromastone64

"Ah!" Azure jumped slightly at the speech. "What...? A foal?!" He said quietly to himself. "He looks like he should still be in hospital with his mum..."
He looked around, moving to a bookshelf, but hesitant to take anything; he didn't know if he was allowed.

Doomato

"Hospitwal!?" Doomato giggled a little, "Dat's ondewstatement uf da yere!"

Chromastone64

Azure jumped again. How the heck could he hear him?! He was pretty sure he whispered that!
He turned to the bookcase, mumbling. "A....B....C! Okay, Cakes...Cells.." He began looking through the C section, until he found the book he wanted. However, he didn't take it yet.

Doomato made a little "omph" when he fell. But the little guy didn't cry as most foals his age would. Scribble levitated the book he was still holding, which was as big as he was and picked him up with her hooves and set him back on his feet before handing back his book. "It's nice to meet you Doomato. I'm Scribble and I'm so glad you want to come to the book club. I have a feeling that the Book Club would be incomplete without you there."

Scribble relaxed at the grey unicorn's reassuring smile. "Thank you for your input. Cerebral novels definitely sounds like the sort of genre I could get lost in too." Scribble smiled. "And I think you're right. I'll just keep the poll the way it is and wait to learn more about what type of books the ponies here like after a few meetings. Then the next poll for our second book choice will be more tailored."

Scribble turned when she heard the librarian shush a colt. CC was always rather strict on the quiet rule. The librarian's name was Cover to Cover, but everyone that knew her called her CC.
Scribble knew that the only reason she and the ponies she was talking with weren't being hushed because Scribble already checked with CC to make sure they could have a book club with. But it was probably killing CC not to hush them. Scribble smiled back at CC, her old friend, but CC had resumed shelving books. Scribble wondered if the colt would like to join the book club but didn't want to disturb him from his reading. Scribble decided that if the conversations didn't inform him that at least when he left the library, he would see the poster.

Just then a blue pony poked his head in the library as if he had never been in one before. Doomato's exclamation spooked him, making the blue pony jump. "Something's not right here," Scribble thought to herself. She could hear the pony whispering to himself. "Either this pony is up to no good or is just REALLY shy." she thought. When she trained her ears on him, his whispering became clearer. The blue stallion was looking for a book beginning with C, the waxed floors and curved ceiling tended to direct echoes towards the center. The pony probably didn't realize how much sound carried in the library since this was probably his first time here. Scribble let the suspicious stallion look for his book, but was ready if anything were to happen.

Doomato

The little colt started to suck on his hoof, adorably.

As Scribble turns away to talk with the other ponies in the library, Low Key looks at the poster and reads the book selection.  As he sees each title and genre, he mentally considers each one:

How your pony race influences your personality:  The premise sounded absolutely fascinating and Low Key was very intrigued.  Learning about himself was always something that piqued his interest.

Forbidden love?: questions about interracial partnering:  Low Key had to admit that he was a sucker for a good romance.  Still, the fact that he would be reading it as part of a book club would mean he would have to talk about his feelings before other ponies.  Simply imagining the awkwardness of the situation caused his cheeks to blush brightly.  He proceeded to cross that title off his mental list.

Fangwood's guide to the Everfree Forest:  He had been to the Everfree a few times and it only made sense to learn more about what resided within.  Still, ecology wasn't his forte.

Daring Do and the Eternal Fountain:  After analyzing the general demographic of the ponies currently in the library, Low Key came to the conclusion that this was most likely going to be the one picked.  Not that he had anything against the Daring Do series (A.K. Yearling was a very talented writer that he admired), but he simply just preferred stories that he could say he took something away from.

The Owl:  As soon as he saw the "horror" tag, Low Key wasted no time in banishing the thought of agreeing to read it to Fillydelphia.

Sentimental Sediment:  Low Key wasn't too into poetry, and neither had he heard of this Maud Pie.  Was she at all a relative of Ponyville's eccentric resident party planner?  Either way, the title didn't seem to pique his curiosity at all.

Azure looked around, unaware of how loud his whispering was. "Is there anypony...I can ask for help...?" He wondered quietly. Taking a deep breath, he took the book he was after, simply called "Changelings".

The gray unicorn looked over the poll chart Scribble had pinned up and Doomato seemed preoccupied with sucking his hoof so Scribble figured that she had answered all of their questions.

"It was nice to meet both of you and I would feel honored to see both of you at the first meeting. If you'll excuse me, I'm going to see if the blue stallion that walked in a moment ago needs any help finding anything."

Scribble walked over to the timid blue unicorn in the C section and saw him looking through books in the section about Changelings. "Maybe he's just interested in changelings?" Thought Scribble. She shuddered to think the pony was a real changeling. Scribble reasoned that his cautiousness was just a matter of being new to the library environment. She decided she'd rather give him the benefit of the doubt then caste suspicion on a pony she hadn't even met.

Scribble trotted up to the blue and green stallion, "Is there anything I can help you with sir?" Scribble smiled reassuringly. If this was indeed this stallions first steps into a library, she wanted to make sure that she made a good lasting impression: that libraries are a safe place for study and learning, a place where everypony can find a book or two about what their interested in without judgement.

Suddenly three ponies enter the library giggling and then they went quiet. One of them was a blue stallion pegasus with a darker mane, a dark grey unicorn mare wih a greyish green/turquiose mane, and a brown earth pony mare with red and white striped mane. They all went up to the nearest table and sat down. The unicorn picked up a huge book from her saddlebag and they all began reading it together.

Azure jumped a little when Scribble spoke. "Ah! O-Oh, um, sorry...do I have to do something before I take a book? Or am I allowed to just take it and read it here...?" He looked at the floor, fearing he'd done something wrong.

Low Key enters the library and sits down.  Today was the day that the book club would convene for the first time and he wished to be there to help decide which books to choose.

Doomato

Four books fell off the shelf as the sleeping Doomato woke up and rolled off behind them. Doomato was homeless and could be seen sleeping almost anywhere.

MrSpyro

Mind Games, being an eavesdropper, couldn't help but overhear everything the other ponies were talking about. A book club sounded like an awesome idea to him, but he really didn't want to ask about it. He was incredibly shy and socially awkward around ponies he's never met before, and chances  were nine out of ten that he would embarrass himself, so he went back to his book, tying to look like he didn't care and hoping nopony would notice him.

The official day of the book club had passed and, so far the popular vote was How your pony race influences your personality, by Apex Psyche with Daring Do and the Eternal Fountain, by A.K. Yearling as a close second. There was still one more day until the poll ended. Scribble gave each pony that showed up a brief summary of the two books to help ponies choose.

Abstract
Apex Psyche in How your pony race influences your personality believes that unicorns are more cerebral than the other races. Their special power is through learning, creativity, ingenuity, strong beliefs, logic and rational thinking.
Pegasus, are concerned what others think of them, letting other's opinions of them rule their lives. Pegasi have a harder time with relationships than the other races because of this. This weakness can also become a strength as pegasi are better at noticing and helping others others who are trapped with either a blazing ego, or have little to no self esteem, often other pegasi.
Earth ponies don't the same limitations that unicorns and pegasi have. Earth ponies care little about what other ponies think of them and are free to be themselves, making observations that the unicorns and pegasus cannot. This wisdom is one of their greatest strengths and are sometimes called the great equalizer.
Author's Note: these conclusions are based on a limited selection of ponies - namely the 'main 6.'

Book Jacket summary
A.K. Yearling in Daring Do and the Eternal Fountain starts off with Daring running away and hiding from a band of bandits. In hiding, she overhears them discuss the 'eternal fountain' and that the first one to find it will have control over it. As the bandits plot, Daring Do learns that these scruffy thugs are actually working for a deadly dragon named Akkedis who wants the fountain to add to his vast horde of other magical artifacts. Daring knows she must find the fountain first before Akkedis does and uses it for evil. Can Daring Do find the fountain before Akkedis gets his hands on it? Will Daring Do be tempted to use the magic fountain when all her other resources are diminished? Read to find out what happens next!

Just from reading the summary alone, Low Key's interest was quite piqued.  He left the library and resolved to come back the day of the first meeting.

Scribble Books

Scribble smiled at the jumpy pony. Scribble had a natural compassion for shy ponies, as she used to be one herself. "You can pick any book you like in this entire library and either read it inside - there are lots of comfy chairs in the reading room just to the right of the front desk - or if you like, you can take the book home with you. First thing you should do though is get a library card. This lets you take books home for three weeks. Keep it longer than that and it's one bit per day. You can get a library card at the front desk." Scribble then handed the blue pony a bookmark which had information about the book club. "I'm also starting a book club if you're interested. There's not much information on it because I couldn't fit it all, but there's a poster in the front that tells you more if you have any questions."
Scribble put her hoof on the jumpy pony's shoulder. "Don't worry. There's no reason to be afraid. The library is a safe place and you are free to do what you want. There might be problems in your life outside of these walls but here, you will always be safe." Scribble smiled, trying to give the skittish pony a little courage.

Doomato

"Oomph!" He cried as he touched the floor.

Chromastone64

"Um...okay. Thanks. I'll read it here. I just hope it can help me..." He said thankfully, before making his was over to the desk to get a card.
