"Well, I had mistakenly blinked fairly far into the water, and I had no way of making it back to shore. After passing out, I... somehow made it to a desert island." Joy had his suspicions about that, but it involved a name to never be said again. Some things are best left in the past.

"I attempted to explore the island, not making it very far before I encountered a group of tribal ponies. They took me and forced me to come with them, leading me to their village. They lead me to a very eccentric buck by the name of Jolly Depth. He greeted me, rather harshly, but what would you expect towards a stranger on your land?

After exchanging pleasantries, and telling him why I was there, he offered me a way out. I could collect him some crabs, sticks, and his compass and cutlass, and I would be taken close to Pascalo and made an honorary crew member. I collected his supplies, having to go through many trials and tribulations before returning to him with his gear.

Satisfied, he led me aboard his ship and took me back to this beach, teaching me shanties and making me an honorary member of his crew along the way. He extended an open invitation, as well, if I ever wanted to give piracy another shot to send him a letter and he would welcome me back aboard.

We still keep in touch to this day, though I've never taken him up on his offer." Joy finished the fairly abridged and edited version of his story, to remove certain details.

"That's the story of when I became a pirate! Alright, now it's your turn. Tell me a story from your life, Maple. I'm sure you have at least one interesting tale."

"well that's amazing but i only;y have one tale to tell" he sighed

"I don't mind at all, important thing is that you have one. Willing to share?" Joy asked.

Marble : right well...whatever.. i been waiting long enough your not gonna answer to me anyway...

"well its a long one to tell that's for sure" he sighed

"I think we have the time. Not, uh, not much we have to focus on at the moment," Joy told a half truth. He didn't want to worry Maple with the whole soul thing, not while Maple was having a bit of an alteration of the mind. He just wanted to keep Maple focused on his adult life, and tell stories from that.

"well it began when i was still part of the royal guard in vanhoover which is my home town" he took a sip of his drink

"during this time i was picked to go join a team of researches in ponyville funny enough, with this i joined M.E.R.C which was in charge of all research that was to do with war" he sighed a bit remembering that time. "its funny what happens when you come to a new town sometimes the most amazing things happen, in this case it was meeting the pretties mare I've ever seen "

Lil Foli wondered along the shore as she kicked a stone with her. The little filly wore a bored expression as she tried to find something to do. She didn't know any children her age, or any interesting places to go. The filly was starting to be more annoyed than sad that her mother left her alone. As much as she enjoyed the beach, it was far too big for someone so small to venture alone.

"Sounds like you found someone you really liked. What was she like?" Joy attempted to find a conversation hook, for some reason choosing the mare Maple mentioned over his past career choice. He'd get to that later.

"like I said the most beautiful  mare I've every seen her eyes where sky blue just like mine and she always gave you a warm smile" he chuckled to himself "the best part was she worked for the same place as me, so I took her out one night to dinner, I was probably  a nevus reck but I went smooth"

"You still in touch?" Joy asked, only hoping after he said it that he had not hit a sensitive vein.

joy hadn't noticed it yet but maple has begun to cry "it was the big day that everything changed, we where showing off our new reqsrech which involved the use of magic to power weapons " he coughed "I was talking to her as the big reveal happened after I had finished checking the coolant system on the power source when suddenly  there was a big flash of light and I blacked out. I woke up to this and the news that I was the only survivor "

"Oh..." Joy's smile dropped like a boxer, wondering if he should've just asked about Maple's time in the force, instead. Maybe it would've been a happier memory. "I...I'm sorry. I wouldn't have asked if I had known."

"no its fine you didn't know, it's ..just stupid that's all  for something  like that to happen only at the end" he sighed wiping his eye

"I, uh, I'm sorry," Joystick repeated. "Would you, ah,  would you like to just move on?" Joy asked, hoping to maybe get Maple to some happier times before he had to knock him back down, against his own wishes.

maple continued "they said it was the coolant that made it overheat , the same thing that I was the last technician  to look at " he covered his face with his hoof and cybernetic  on . after awhile he looked at both of them a look of disgrace  covering his face "I don't know if it's a blessing our a curse"

"There was no way it was anything but a freak accident, I'm sure. It probably would've happened either way. There couldn't have been anything you could do differently." Joy tried to comfort Maple, hoping he wasn't just making things worse.

"I guess your right  still pains me that it happend" he sighed  drinking some water "they said I was part of a new program when I woke up , one of the first ponies to survive the augmention "
