Zakona blinked. "...You got the books you wanted that fast?"

"Eh, nevermind. Gather round, and let's read!"

-

The capony opened Treasure Trove and paused at the contents section. She brought the novel in close to her face and squinted, scanning the chapters. "Let's see... chapter 1... chapter 3... chapter 10... ah, here we go!"

Each myth was listed underneath its designated section, and she'd found what she was looking for in chapter 20. Zakona flicked through the pages until she came across The Heart's Desire. On that page, there was a deco-style picture of what Zakona thought was a tomb. Upon a gray pedestal, glittering in the light of a torch was a heart-shaped object. It was an off-white, bluish color, and seemed to be made out of shiny stone. The heart reminded her of one of the crystal hearts she had seen while visiting the Crystal Empire awhile back.

"So this must be the artifact," Zakona mumbled, showing the picture to Electric and Razor. Twilight Sparkle moved close to the trio. "Would you three mind if I read with you? I'd like to see if there's anything I missed."

"Go right ahead, Princess." The earth mare began reading out loud.

It had been days since they had begun, and yet there was no sign of the temple Shieldred and his crew had been searching for. Ferocious monsters and foreboding scenery was all it took to put them on edge in this jungle, though the adventurer seemed just as brave as ever.

"What jungle are they searching in?" Zakona inquired, stopping, but Twilight said she couldn't remember. "Keep reading, Zakona. I think they say it later."

Shieldred did not wish to settle down, however, but the humidity and his aching limbs put up too much of an argument to protest. So the pegasus ordered the team to set up camp for the night.

"Sir, should we set up precautions?" his assistant asked, wiping sweat from her brow. A knowing grin spread across Shieldred's chiseled jaw. "Go right ahead, Catacombs. I'd say we should go all the way and have a lookout as well as a beacon. Who knows what might try to get us tonight?" The capony mare nodded and gave orders to the rest of the crew. Despite being ready to drop, everypony put in extra effort to construct a shelter and a fire, as well as what Shieldred had suggested.

"All that, and they have a capony too? Awesome!" Zakona exclaimed, delighted. While caponies such as herself were an existing race, they were a rarity in literature and other media. Twilight smiled again. "I knew you'd like her."

Zakona continued on. As night fell over the vast expanse of the jungle and the shadows stretched over the horizon, they couldn't help but look into the golden blaze of the fire and feel they were being encircled by darkness... or, perhaps... something they could not comprehend. This uneasiness did not dispel overtime. Instead, it wove its way into the minds of even the bravest members of the small group and made it difficult to drift off to dreamland.

Shieldred had opted to be the lookout, tired as he was. The others were huddled behind him in the tent they had pitched, and they had cobbled together sleeping bags out of their meager positions. Soon, his trusted assistant would take the archaeologist's place. But for now, he had to keep watch over the small clearing.

"Ooo, this is getting good!" Twilight squealed. "I'm starting to remember how it ends..."
22
"Um... I just... told you guys that there was something useful in... Treasure Trove..." Twilight replied, raising an eyebrow in Razor's general direction. "You know what? Nevermind. Whether Shieldred's tales are real or not, they're worth looking into."

"That's alright, Razor. We've got an artifact to find!" Zakona said. She looked down at her books and another idea popped into her head. "How about you two go get any other books you want, and then we read The Heart's Desire? There's probably important stuff in it that Twilight didn't mention."

ok.

could you elaborate on blu's relationship with the mane 6, considering you didn't really give much info on that?

Good OC. I especially like the character art, too! Very nicely done.  ^-^

Would Blu's powers basically be used like gags in the show/old cartoons? Like how Pinkie Pie's twitches work, or how she breaks the fourth wall?
25
Like the others have been saying, these OCs are good. They could be better, but they're not the worst pony characters I've seen out there.

(They're an extremely cute pair, too. I'd love to see more of them.  ^-^)

However, they do need a lot more information when it comes to their personalities and backstories. And your grammar could use some improvement: it would make your character's information a lot more sensical.

That's what people have problems with.

-

If you don't mind, I'll try rewriting your character information for you. Don't worry, I'll stay true to what you originally wrote. A lot of it is pretty good!  ;)

(If you decide to use these, Fluttershy Pudding, please credit me!

Also, please tell me what you think of my suggestions. I know it may seem mean that we're judging your characters, but I want to help you better yourself as a writer.)

Name: Fluttershy Pudding

(Please don't use Fluttershy's name. It will make people think your character is a recolor.

Suggested names: Pudding Fluff, Shy Puddin', Sweetie Shy, Pudding Pop)

Gender: Mare
Race: Pegasus
Age: 15
Sexual Orientation: Homosexual

(I know you didn't mention that, but considering Ayame fell in love with Pudding, I think it should be included with this character's information.)

Personality: Fluttershy Pudding is a real sweetie. She is very kind and tries her hardest to show others how much she cares about them. She habitually makes gifts for those close to her and makes a point to be there for them whenever they need it. However, she accidentally can go too far and her affection can come off as overbearing, unless the ponies she's showering with kindness are used to it.

Fluttershy Pudding tends to be rather shy, and her timidness gets in the way of her partaking in society. However, she doesn't let it get her down and she can even be quite optimistic at the best of times.

Likes: Fluttershy Pudding loves dessert food (especially pudding) as well as carpentry. She has a cutiemark for making her favorite food, although she'd much rather have a talent for woodworking.

Dislikes: She dislikes seeing ponies eat sweets in front of her- she's a little sensitive about her self-image and usually dines in private. She also hates ponies who she sees as being evil as they are everything she she is against.

Backstory: Fluttershy Pudding is a recluse and lives in the Everfree Forest as a result. She is rather wary of the creatures that dwell within its boundaries, but is talented at flying and has escaped many a close encounter.

Originally, Discord wanted another lackey, and was curious to see whether he could create life- he was able to mess with the fabric of reality, after all. Operating on this logic, he attempted to do so with the aid of magic, but failed. So he gave up, put Fluttershy Pudding under his spell, and she became Discord's servant until the Mane Six ended his reign of chaos.

Ashamed that she was subjected to the power of someone so evil and feeling that Ponyville's residents would regard her with hatred for serving Discord, Fluttershy Pudding ran away from home (her cottage was located in the town). She ended up in the Everfree Forest and stumbled upon Zecora's home, requesting shelter as well as advice. The zebra agreed to help the pegasus and became Fluttershy Pudding's mentor as well as a close friend.

Zecora taught her that she was a very useful, good pony, and helped her to discover that she was talented at carpentry. Fluttershy Pudding built a small home in the forest, where she still lives to this day.

Fluttershy Pudding is getting over her fears and returns to Ponyville now and then. She even managed to make a friend, Ayane.

Name: Ayame Ito

(Why does Ayame have a Japanese name? I know she's an OC, but you didn't state what her ethnicity was specifically.)

Gender: Mare
Race: Pegasus
Age: 16
Sexual Orientation: Homosexual
Ethnicity: Japanese; also fluent in speaking english

Personality: Ayane is a laid back, fast talking pegasus with a love of everything cool. She is friendly and outgoing, and extremely talented in the flying department. However, she tends to be hotheaded in compromising situations and is sensitive to the judgement of others. As a result, Ayame is rather antisocial and modest about her abilities, preferring to perform in private.

Likes: Ayame is best friends with Fluttershy Pudding and has a crush on her. She loves her very much (although she hasn't revealed her feelings yet) and likes to be intimate with her. Ayame adores flying and running, and admires ponies such as the Wonderbolts and Rainbow Dash.
Dislikes: When ponies get close to Fluttershy Pudding. Ayame can be a little overprotective and jumps to conclusions quickly, and she thinks they're trying to steal her friend from her. She is also extremely competitive and can't stand losing.

Backstory: Ayame was born in Cloudsdale and strived to be her best the second she learned how to fly. She was rather clumsy and wasn't very athletic as a filly, however. That put her pretty low on the popularity list amongst her peers. As a result, Ayame practiced flying and performing tricks until she disputed the claims of the bullies at her school. However, it left her with mental scarring and she became quite antisocial, spending most of her time inside her home.

On some days, Ayame would visit Ponyville. The residents of the town below Cloudsdale didn't know who she was, and so she was generally welcomed there. Whoever caught her flying, as rare as this was, cheered her on, and she accepted their compliments despite the fact that it made her uncomfortable.

The day came when Ayame met  Fluttershy Pudding. Ayame had injured her wing in an accident, and was hoping to return to Cloudsdale with a means of healing it. So she went to see Zecora, and came across the shy pegasus' home. Fluttershy Pudding was initially reluctant to talk to her, but Ayame discovered how kind she was, and found she could be herself with her new friend. They visited each other often, even after Ayame was healed.

Ayame developed a crush on Fluttershy Pudding, and the two became increasingly close. Fluttershy Pudding's naivety, however, led her to be ignorant of her pal's affectionate manners.

I think there's one big mistake here. You say Ayame fell in love with Fluttershy Pudding, but they're both girls. It doesn't work that way.

Uh... dude, if you're going to say that, then you've got to clarify whether you were referring to how love in MLP works or not.

It may not work that way in the show, but keep in mind that these are OCs.

I cant just start, that would be against the rules. I guess it she doesn't come online for a lengthly perioud and all the active players agree, then i could join, but i dont want to get in trouble.

Cool pony, dude! Can't wait to RP with Blue.

I suppose, but it would be worth waiting for her to accept your pony. Renatan's probably pretty busy irl but she'll get to you eventually.

Summary of what's going on in the RP (for your reference):

Zakona (my character) found a book on different ponies and reading it cheered her up, so she went to Golden Oaks Library to get more (That's the library Twilight Sparkle runs). Some of the other RPers had their characters go to the library too. Spike and Twilight helped them check out books, and gave them some info on late cutiemarks. Zakona found a book called Treasure Trove and Twilight said that one of the stories could help them get their cutiemarks.

27
Twilight nodded, looking like she was attempting to recall the tale. Zakona found it a little strange that one of the smartest ponies in Equestria was struggling to remember something straight out of an object that was her forte.

"Well... I remember that it was one of Shieldred's stories. He'd gone searching for a legendary artifact called the Heart's Desire, which was said to grant the desires of whoever owned it. He went with a group of ponies for safety reasons, but he was one of the few who made it back. I don't think he found the artifact, though."

"So... the Heart's Desire grants wishes? Like a genie?" Zakona inquired. "Yeah, pretty much," The alicorn mare said, shrugging. "That's all I can tell you. If you'd like, I could read Heart's Desire again to obtain more information."

"No, that's okay. I think you summed it up pretty well," the capony said. "How is it supposed to help us, though? Isn't it just a myth?" Twilight gazed at her in a matter-of-factually way. "Yes, I know it sounds like it was made up. But here's the kicker: I once thought Daring Do wasn't real, but she turned out to be just that, and so were her stories!"

Zakona remembered once seeing a newspaper headline about that, and her eyes lit up. "So... maybe Shieldred and the Heart's Desire are real too? Oh, I get it now! If the artifact exists, then Electric, Razor, and I could use it to wish for our cutiemarks!"

"Now you're catching on." The princess winked.

"CUTIEMARK CRUSADERS ARCHAEOLOGISTS AND MUSEUM CURATORS! WELL, MAYBE NOT THE LATTER, BUT YAY!" Zakona sang, prancing about. Needless to say, she was still a little skeptical about Heart's Desire being factual, but it had been proven that one of her favorite adventurers existed. Who's to say she couldn't believe in something else just as seemingly impossible?

Zakona snapped out of her elated reverie and grinned sheepishly. "Eheh... sorry. Just trying to get into character." She turned to Twilight. "Um... did the story say where Shieldred had to go to find the artifact?"
28
Zakona groaned. "And I just checked mine out, too..."

Still, she wanted to take a quick look through it. Maybe there was something Electric had missed.

"Oh! Uh, you guys are still here?" Zakona turned around just in time to see Twilight Sparkle coming into the room. "Yes. Is that a problem, princess?" Zakona replied. "No, not at all. Stay as long as you want." Twilight smiled. "I'm just surprised you'd stick around. Most of the ponies who come here leave after they check out their books."

Zakona usually left it to other (braver) ponies, but right now, the capony felt too calm to be socially awkward. So she took it upon herself to ask another question. "Um... Twilight?"

"Yes?" Twilight inquired. "Are you sure this book talks about getting your cutiemark late? Electric Gamer said she read it and she didn't find anything about that," Zakona said, holding up her copy for emphasis.

"Oh... well, I haven't read it, so I wouldn't know. I thought it would address that, though." The alicorn glanced at the bookshelves around her. "To be honest, there's not a whole lot here that I think would answer your questions... oh!" She gasped, posture contorted in surprise. "I just remembered something!"

Zakona jumped a little. She hadn't expected Twilight's little outbursts, but they startled her everytime. "What is it?"

"There's a story in Treasure Trove that might help you. I think it's called Hearts Desire, though I don't really remember. It's been a long time since I read it." Twilight explained. "Really?" Zakona asked, examining her book again. "What's it about?"

"I'll tell you. But keep in mind that, again, I haven't read Treasure Trove in quite some time, so I might get things wrong. Alright?"

Zakona nodded and waited for the princess to begin.
29
"I know what you mean. I have a lot of interests myself, but to be honest... I think I'll stick to drawing. Like I said before, that's what I'm best at." Zakona looked at Razor and Electric. "Um... did you guys find anything about late cutiemarks in the books Twilight gave us?"
30
"Hi. Nice to meet you too," Zakona replied. She relaxed. Razor and Electric seemed to be pretty friendly.

Electric Gamer, huh? Maybe she'll get a cutiemark for playing video games...

One thing that baffled the open-minded denizens of Equestria was the fact that parents named their children something that always related their cutiemarks, even before they found their special talents.

Zakona didn't know what hers might be, but that didn't keep her from guessing. Her 'rents had named her after a crystal called a zirconia, and her name was a play on the word. On top of that, as far as she could remember, she'd been fascinated with minerals. Maybe her cutiemark would have something to do with that?

That would be awesome!

But Zakona wasn't a geologist at heart. She was a talented artist, and she was certain that if she did have a special talent, then that was it. Why she hadn't gotten a cutiemark yet, however, she could not imagine.

...Since I'm a capony, maybe I'll get a pawprint. Something with cats. I dunno.

Zakona cleared her throat. "Cool name. Think you'll get a cutiemark for playing video games?"

31
"It's a pleasure to meet you too," Zakona commented, smiling gently. Maybe I shouldn't condone this niceness thing... it's rare that anypony's ever that kind to me.

She turned to the grey unicorn, who had just returned her book to the shelves. "And what's your name?"
32
"...I already said my name. Uh, do you mean my full name?

It's Zakona Kat."
33
Zakona realized she had just sauntered right on up to them without having anything to really talk about. She faltered, wondering what she could discuss.

"Uh... my name is Zakona," she offered tentatively, introducing herself. "How are you guys doing?"
34
"No need to act so formal. I may be Princess Celestia's successor, but I'm still the same ol' Twilight Sparkle." The princess smiled at the gesture. "But thank you, Razor Fang. Perhaps you'll get your cutiemark in politeness."

Hearing the scene unfold behind her, Zakona thought a cutiemark in politeness was rather redundant, moral as getting one would be. Who would want to spend the rest of their days being kind to others, especially in situations when it didn't help? Was it even possible? She knew that was a bit unfair of her to claim, since having commendable manners was practically a must in this society. But her opinion still stood.

The capony continued searching the shelves, focusing on the books before her. Besides the book on cutiemarks she had scored, nothing else seemed to be on the subject.

Let's hope I don't find something educational that turns out to be a children's book.

Fortunately, she didn't come across anything like that. That's because she eventually came to the decision that there were no other books on it and gave up. Zakona decided to look for something else.

It was then that she came across something that looked interesting.

Treasure Trove: A Collection Of Adventure Stories And Myths
, the title read. The earth pony placed the book she was holding on the ground and pulled the novel out, taking care not to knock over the surrounding contents of the bookshelf.

It was a large book, but it wasn't that hard to hold up and examine. On the maroon cover was an art deco styled picture of a pegasus stallion running through a vibrant jungle. He was wearing gear that made Zakona think he was an archaeologist, and he'd put a hoof over his hat, presumably to keep it from falling off.

Come to think of it, he reminded her of... Indiana Pones?

"What's that you've got there?" Zakona turned around just in time to see Twilight Sparkle trotting over. "Would you mind showing it to me?" Zakona nodded and Twilight levitated it out of her hooves.

"Oooh! I love this one. It's about archaeological findings and historical tales related to them, as well as myths like the tales of Shieldred Rondache. It's an extremely fascinating, fun read!" The alicorn squealed, hugging it to her chest. Suddenly, she seemed to realize where she was and composed herself, blushing sheepishly. "Eh heh... sorry."

"That's okay, Twilight," Zakona smiled, taking Treasure Trove back. "Er... who's Shieldred Rondache?"

Twilight pointed to the picture on the cover. "That's Shieldred, the star of some of the myths. He's an archaeologist as well as a museum curator, and he frequently goes on adventures." She giggled. "He reminds me a lot of Daring Do."

"Personally, I prefer the historical accounts over the false ones, but who knows? You might find his a lot more interesting."

Zakona was a fan of the Daring Do and Indiana Pones series, as well as the adventure and historical genres in general. On top of that, seeing the princess's enthusiasm made her want to get the book even more.

"I'll take it!" She said, picking the book on cutiemarks up.

-

After she had checked her books out, Zakona felt better than she had before. If her emotional uplift was becoming a pattern (and she hoped it was), she liked her odds.

Being in a good mood made her go want to talk to the unicorns, despite her sheltered ways of living. So she did, walking towards them with ease she hadn't felt in awhile.

"Hi," she said to Razor Fang. She knew that was his name because she figured the male voice from before belonged to him.
35
Zakona watched as the two cutiemarkless unicorns chatted with each other and felt a bit left out.

Another blank flank with feelings standing right here, guys...

Analyzing the situation, she found it rather strange that this still bothered her. The capony had endured years of isolation and being excluded from others, especially on her friends part. Shouldn't she have been used to it by now?

It's because I'm an earth pony, isn't it?!

Just kidding.

Feeling silly that she had become jealous over something so trivial, she decided to pretend she had been thinking about getting another book and began to search the library's shelves.

-

"Here you go," Twilight said, levitating one last book over to the unicorn stallion. "Say, I didn't catch your names... what are they?"
36
Twilight's ears perked up at the arrival of another visitor. "Wow. I can't remember the last time this place was so busy!" With a knowing look, Spike got the door. "Before you say anything," he said to them in earnest, "Yes, we're open."

All of a sudden, Zakona noticed something. Whoever this new stallion was, he was a unicorn, and without a cutiemark at that.  The capony blinked, astonished. Until this moment, she had never been around so many ponies who shared the same anomaly as she, and she found it to be quite the incredible coincidence.

Three ponies without cutiemarks? What the hay is going on?! She thought, observing the newcomers at a frantic pace.

Oh well. At least I can finally sing the song of my people.

Eventually, she wondered how Twilight Sparkle and Spike were reacting and turned to face them. The alicorn looked like she was having a tough time processing the scene, and the baby dragon looked no better. An awkward silence filled the room, but the earth mare was too busy dealing with her own insecurities to break it.

"Um..." Twilight murmured, casting her gaze around the room. "So... all of you didn't get your cutiemarks?"

Zakona finally decided to speak up, regretting her awkwardness the second it became apparent in her voice. "I guess so."

"Hey, Twilight... do you know of some way we could... fix that?"

"Well..." The princess began to pace the library floor as she puzzled over the situation, narrowing her purple eyes in concentration. "Aw, not again," Spike sighed. "I'll go call the contractors." He disappeared into the next room. Contractors? What... Suddenly, Twilight giggled, interrupting Zakona's reverie. "He was referring to the time I paced so much, I put a groove in the floor." She turned to the remaining members of the group, an apologetic look on her face.

"I'm sorry, everypony, but I doubt I'll be much help. I was thinking of the time I tried to assist my friend's kid sister, Applebloom, in getting her cutiemark. Magic didn't work. And we found out potions didn't either, thanks to her." Twilight smiled. "All I can do is give you all a book on cutiemarks and... tell you to be patient. It may not have appeared when you were little, but there's no saying it won't appear in the future."

Soon enough, everyone in the room was examining a book that Zakona knew, on some level, would educate them, but also make them feel worse about being the few ponies in Ponyville, and all of Equestria, for that matter, without cutiemarks. But the capony was willing to be patient. She had been patient for the popularity and customers that never came, but at the very least, this would come in the end.
37
"I believe we do," Twilight replied. "If you need help finding them, just ask me or Spike." She said nothing about the unicorn's lack of a cutiemark.

Zakona had not realized it when the pony entered the library, and she couldn't help but wonder why. It was pretty obvious she had a blank flank... and, come to think of it, so did the capony. It was almost taboo for a pony to not have one, even at a young age. A long time ago, this realization would have saddened Zakona, and the stares she got for seemingly having no special talent still did. But why had the alicorn and her assistant not mentioned it? Didn't they find it as odd as the rest of the populace?

"Um... Twilight..." Twilight looked over at her. What am I doing?

Though she regretted it almost instantly, Zakona kept going. "Is it normal for a pony to not get their cutiemark?"

Twilight looked a little apprehensive, as if she was choosing her words carefully. "Well... uh... no. It's practically unheard of." Seeing Zakona's mood darken a little, she quickly tried to make amends. "But it's not permanent. Maybe they just don't know what their special talent is yet."

"But see, here's the thing. I know what mine is." Zakona looked at her flank, as bare and unblemished as the rest of her fur. "It's art... you know, drawing and painting." "Are you sure?" Spike interjected. "I mean, you haven't got a cutiemark for it."

"Spike!" Twilight hissed, glaring at him. She then lost her defensive demeanor and sighed. "Look, this is a very sensitive topic and I don't want to offend our guests. So please be a little more considerate, okay?" The dragon backed off a bit. "Okay, okay. I'm sorry I said anything."

"That's okay, Spike." Zakona felt relieved that, while Spike hadn't exactly been subtle, Twilight was at least trying to take the situation seriously.  "I think so because I know so, guys. It's one of the only things I'm good at; everypony says so. I just don't know why I'm still a blank flank."
38
"No, not at all," said Twilight, observing the trio. "What happened, Spike?"

Zakona felt happy... and a little disappointed, seeing the alicorn princess in person. Despite being in a good mood, the mare had never been one to fangirl much over something she was excited about, and now that was more apparent than ever. She just felt moderately elated.

"I was just picking up books when Zakona here distracted me, and I dropped em'," Twilight's assistant replied, jabbing his thumb in Zakona's general direction. "Oh. Here, let me help you." Twilight levitated the remaining books off the floor and eventually slid them all into their proper places. She looked over at the ponies in the library once she finished, smiling.

"Can we help you?" She inquired. Zakona returned the gesture, stammering a little. While she wasn't exactly ecstatic, she was certainly nervous to be standing in front of somepony she admired. "I- I'm here to check out some books."

"Oh, don't mind me... I'm just fine... totally didn't fall down and hurt myself or anything," Spike grumbled. Twilight giggled. "Go right ahead, you two. I mean, if that's what you're here for." She turned to the capony. "Um... if you don't mind me asking, are you from around here, Zakona?"

"Well, I'm swedish," she said, examining the nearest bookshelf. "But yes, I'm from around here." "Ah. Your name and accent tipped me off," Twilight commented. "Hey... shouldn't you help Spike? He actually did fall down." Zakona looked over at the baby dragon, who didn't look too happy at being neglected.

"I'm sure he's fine. Are you?" The alicorn asked him. "Yes, thanks for noticing." He replied, perking up.

Twilight then trotted over to the gray unicorn and greeted her. "Hi there. Are you here to check out books too?"
39
Again, Zakona found herself wishing she was a unicorn so she didn't have to carry the library card in her mouth. But it was a minor setback, considering how happy she was.

Having been to the library on some occasions, Zakona knew the way. The capony walked with a spring in her step until she spotted the ornate tree that was Twilight Sparkle and Spike's home in the distance. Quickening her pace, she headed for the entrance, eventually stopping in front of the door. She was about to enter, but remembered her manners and knocked three times on its wooden surface. And then she waited, efforts combining with patience when noone answered.

You'd think Owlowiscious would get the door
, Zakona thought, spitting her card into her hoof. She continued to stand there, gingerly shifting from foot to foot. Just as she thought about knocking again, the door swung open. Holding it was Twilight's assistant, who promptly apologized for keeping the capony waiting.

"Hey there," yawned the baby dragon. "Sorry about that. I was just taking my afternoon nap and you woke me up." Working hard or hardly working, Spike? "That's alright. I'm just here to check out some books. Is the library open?" Spike blinked. "Well, technically it's always open... but yeah, sure. Go right ahead." He sidestepped Zakona as she trotted inside and shut the door after her.

She had forgotten how spacious and cluttered the interior of the library was. And that was saying something, considering Twilight was reputed to be one of the most organized ponies in the state. Every opening in the room was jam-packed with books of all sizes and shapes, stacked neatly to fit. The only places virtually free of books were Twilight Sparkle's bedroom and staircases leading elsewhere in the tree.

Eventually, Zakona looked down, suddenly remembering that the last time she'd been here, her idol had been in her lab.

"Hey, Spike?" She asked. He was picking up books that lay on the ground.

"Yes?"

"Can I go in Twilight's lab?"

"No. Sorry, but that's off-limits."

"Alrighty then. Can I go upstairs?"

"Sure. Just don't break anything."

"Aren't you going to ask me how I know your name?"

"No. I mean, everyone who lives in Ponyville knows Twilight's a princess, so I'm guessing that's how you know it.
Uh, you live here, right?"

"Yeah. Do you want to know mine?"

"Sure. Uh, I don't mean to be rude, but could you stop asking questions? It's getting old."

"It's Zakona Kat. Why do you want me to stop?"

"Augh! Stop! Just stop, Zakona! Please- woah!"

Zakona winced as the dragon, evidently distracted by her questioning, tripped over a table and crashed to the ground. The books he'd been holding went flying.

((gdit zakona this is why we can't take you anywhere))

She cautiously moved toward him, grinning sheepishly. "Uh... sorry about that, Spike. Want some help?" Spike groaned, slowly picking himself up and dusting his scales off. "Owwww... well... you can help, if you're up for organizing the books I dropped. Just don't ask any more questions, alright?" The capony nodded, relieved that he hadn't retaliated more harshly, and whipped her hoof towards her eye. "I won't. Pinkie Pie swear!"

Spike joined her in picking up all the discarded reading materials on the ground and, based on his instructions, finding the spaces where they belonged. "You know about Pinkie Pie too, huh?" Zakona blinked. "Well, sure. Doesn't everypony?" He crossed his arms and cleared his throat, raising an eyebrow. "Ahem." "Oh, sorry. Everyone," she apologized, correcting herself. "I'm a huge fan of Twilight and... I guess I just found out about the rest of the mane six after I learned about her."

"Spike? What's all that racket?" Questioned a familiar voice.

Zakona looked over at one of the doors, only to see her idol enter the room.

(We're starting. Just letting you guys know.)

Zakona Kat had started the day off gloomy, and frankly, she wasn't surprised.

What was currently bothering the capony, however, was why she felt so down as of late.

Zakona sat slumped on her bed, a soft sigh betraying her pensive air. She was used to being let down by a lack of customers and requests for her artwork, as well as her own depressing outlook on everything. But she'd never really lost the motivation to draw or try hard to turn things from sad-boring-no-fun-allowed time to happy-happy-joy-joy-sunshine time. At least, not like she was feeling now.

Maybe I'm just lonely, Zakona thought, shifting uncomfortably in place. Her back ached from leaning forward and her white coat felt itchy.
"Or maybe I just need to take a break from drawing for awhile."

Suddenly, her tail twitched nonstop behind her, and before she could do anything, her body began shaking and shimmying along with it. A shiver passed through her, nearly causing her to bounce off the bed. The second everything stopped, Zakona sat there in silence, wondering what the hay had just happened.

"That's... peculiar," Zakona murmured, considering that it may have been a nervous tick. She swiveled around to look at the appendage.
...Or maybe I'm just having a nervous breakdown.

Given that the mare was part cat, she could move her tail with ease. But she had never tried to do the freaking hula along with it. Come to think of it, it kind of reminded her of...

"Isn't that Pinkie Pie's thing?"

Suddenly, something hard hit her head and bounced off. Zakona yelped and rubbed at her noggin, trying to locate the falling hazard.

A magenta book lay on the hardwood floor near her hooves, and she realized it had fallen from the bookshelf behind her. When she had gotten the book, she couldn't recall. Wincing at newfound aches and pains, the capony reached down and picked it up. If I were a unicorn, I'd use a spell to lift it up and keep my head from hurting... and I wouldn't have to be a stupid earth pony and use my hooves to draw... she thought disdainfully.

Zakona blinked, realizing what had just crossed her mind. "Where the hay did that come from?"

She looked down at the object in her hooves and rotated it, coming to a stop at the front cover. Multiponies, it said in bold lettering, How The Best Ponies Come In All Races. Below that was a picture of a lightbulb made up of alicorn, pegasus, unicorn, and earth ponies above the metallic screw cap.

"They didn't include things that aren't ponies! What plebeians!" Zakona joked, a smile gracing her face. Though the author, Liz Hoofman, had also neglected to include pony hybrids like the capony, she didn't mind. Besides members of her family, Zakona was the only one of her kind she knew of, and considering how negative she was, maybe it was for the best.

"Well, I can't find a better way to kill a few hours." With that, she opened the book and began to read.

As the pain in her head faded away, Zakona found Multiponies to be interesting. It was about the different races and personality types of ponies, and how they contributed to as well as affected living things and Equestria alike. She began to regret the thought about the unicorn thing, for she learned more than she originally knew about earth ponies and found her own prodigious race to be just as useful as the others.

I'd still like to be a unicorn though. Or maybe an alicorn like Twilight Sparkle, she thought. Speaking of Twilight... "Hey, maybe she has more books on the subject!" Zakona cried excitedly, sorrowful mood evaporating almost completely.

She stood up and stretched, glad she lived so near Golden Oak Library. Zakona moved to her nightstand, book in tow, and grabbed a bookmark to slip within its informative pages. "I know what I'm going to do today... I just hope I have my library car- ah, here it is!" She snapped Multiponies shut, picked the plastic card off the nightstand, and put the book in its place.

Zakona hadn't gotten any art requests or commissions today, but she didn't really care much anymore. Even better was that... she felt better!

And with that, the capony trotted out of her house and headed down the streets of Ponyville.
