Sparkling lights formed around the light pony captain's head as soon as Travis' leg hit him. It seemed the light pony captain was wearing some sort of armour made of diamond dust. However, even this strongest of materials couldn't absorb the entire blow and the captain's head did turn, but his body stood strong and it stood tall. The turned head went back to its original position, now gazing at the other captain. "We've met before, but last time was a little shortcoming, was it not? Too bad your actions nor your magic will save you now. You are slow and you are weak. It's impossible for you to win this fight, but I'm a kind one. Let's say you do win this fight, let's give you that impossible chance. Your precious town will have burned to the ground before you can stop me!"

The captain watched as the wooden planks that supported the upper levels of the building collapsed, sending burning cinders falling down upon him. From the still burning ashes of Sugarcube Corner, the captain simply emerged as if a building had not just fallen on him. Laughing at the destruction he just caused, the captain entered a stage of frenzy. With a quick shot, two more beams lit two more buildings on fire. "I see now why they desire so-called nighttime! These creatures cannot handle this amount of energy which means they ARE much weaker than us! This'll be fun. A soothing bath for us will mean their demise!"

"For one so wise, he sure knows how to pick wrong sides. These fleshlings aren't even worth our time." The captain chuckled. "Though I do enjoy a little manhandling sometimes, these fleshlings take it too far. Their rage has consumed the rest of their emotions, it would seem, and that will be their downfall."

With one quick swing, the captain's body turned around completely, now facing his men once more. "For the Great Understanding! May these vile creatures never attempt to decease great knowledge anymore!" The captain yelled at his troops to which they only replied with a battle cry, nothing shortcoming of volume. The entire town could probably hear them, even from that far away.

But as far away as they were, for beings of light the distance was next to nothing. In a flash, the captain had disappeared from his position and was in the middle of town, in front of Sugarcube Corner, to be exact. The building he had burned a few days prior had been already rebuilt, but once more it would taste the captain's heat. Two beams of light came forth from the pony's eyes, setting the sugary building ablaze once more. He stepped inside, while all the ponies inside ran away in fear.

Meanwhile, the captain's troops weren't sitting around. They followed their captain into glory, disappearing from their spot in a flash and reappearing in the middle of town. Once there, and once the first assault had begun, the battalion dispersed, staying in groups of five as they seemingly flew through ponyville, setting buildings on fire wherever they went and burning the flanks of innocent civilians that happened to run by.

Stallions from all races and mare unicorns, desperately tried to fend off the attackers to save their town. Skirmishes broke out throughout the entire town while the houses kept on burning and the rest of the population fled, with some of their valuables, but most importantly the kids. Once the kids had been dropped off at Sweet Apple Acre's, the only place large enough to hold half of the town, some brave ponies that didn't want to watch the kids and do nothing decided to join in the battle in Ponyville.

The captain gazed from afar at the ponies engaged in combat, not with enemies, but with themselves. "What is wrong with these fleshlings? They seem to pass time engaging in combat with each other. Day in, day out, fighting seems to be a daily occurence around here. If every average resident has this much combat experience, taking over this world will be quite a hassle afterall. But beings this barbaric and hostile must be eradicated for the sake of all health in this world!" He said to both himself and Ara'ja-meya standing next to him. "And who is the newcomer? Any intel on him? I know you're trying telepathy, but is it working?"

Majem put a hoof to his chin. The choice for him was easy, he'd just take the dagger and be on his way, but the others will have to decide for themselves. He didn't know what the ponies in his party were best accustomed with. "Well, I don't really need the hammer. Give me a dagger and that's fine with me. The star spear's also a bit loud for my taste."

The captain of the light ponies did not waste his precious daytime hours. Ara had taken some of his men with her, meaning they probably wouldn't be doing much, but that didn't mean the others would be spared from their regular drill. No matter what the conditions, his men had to be in top shape in case any unexcepted difficulties occured. "Alright, ladies. You know the routine. Drop down and give me, oh, I don't know. I'm feeling generous today. TWO HUNDRED!" The captain yelled at the rest of his troops, to which they immediately dropped to the floor and began their push-ups, while the captain paced back and forth in front of them, loudly counting the push-ups the soldiers did in unison.

As beings of light, the push-ups themselves weren't much of a deal, but it was rather the mental strain of the repeated movement that was the hard part of the drill. The captain paced back and forth in front of the battelion, while the troops were doing their push-ups. "EVEN ROWS BRIGHT!" He yelled, suddenly and in response, the even-numbered rows grew brighter while the uneven-numbered rows grew dimmer. After a few moments of pacing around, he yelled again. "UNEVEN COLUMNS BRIGHT!"

"ONE HUNDRED!" The captain yelled. A smirk formed on his face, but the soldiers already knew what was going to happen next, a harder challenge in the drill. "JAI'MISHER!" He yelled and the captain threw a rock up into the air. Jai'Misher was a little surprised to hear his name, but looked up at the rock and shot it with two rays of light coming from his eyes, blowing the rock to smithereens. "EVEN COLUMS BRIGHT! ONE HUNDRED TEN! JAN'RI-MICIDA!" Another rock went skyward and two more rays shot at it from somewhere else inside the group of light ponies.

The captain continued training his soldiers to pass time while also not wasting any time for time was rather precious in this world.

"The captain's leaving? But what about us?" "Yeah, HEY! WHAT ABOUT US? ARE YOU ABANDONING US?" "WE'RE DOOMED!" "SO MUCH FOR THE ROYAL GUARDS! MORE LIKE ROYAL PAIN!" "YOU'VE SEEN HOW FAST THEY BURNED DOWN SUGARCUBE CORNER!" "I DON'T WANNA DIE!" The crowd screamed in fear. Their only hope of diplomacy was running away for personal reasons while their lives were in grave danger with those light ponies just outside town. Dispersing once more, the crowd hurried home, deeply in panic. Some ran into each other, others managed to get away unscathed, but there were some injuries caused by such a trivial decision the captain had made.

Silence filled the streets of Ponyville as most of the inhabitants had fled to their homes, cowering away inside, hoping it was not their home that would be hit next and turned to ash.

Several of the ponies in Ponyville had stopped their daily activities when a guard came running through town, panic could clearly be read on his face. With all the guards around town, there was already a serious feeling of dread lingering all around town. The useful noisy chattering was gone, partially due to one of the best spots to hang out in Ponyville had burned down, but mostly due to restlessness of the ponies and an extreme worry about those strange beings outside of town.

The crowd followed behind the guard, trying to be subtle about it, but in such a large group, it was quite difficult to follow someone unsuspiciously. Their eyes rarely left the guards' motions, only for making sure they wouldn't bump into anything. "Are those things back?" "What do they want?" "Is the captain going to defeat them?" "No, he can't do anything against them. I saw it yesterday. "No, I heard they just want to talk." "And what will the captain do?"The ponies said to each other.

The captain muttered several curses, annoyed by having to retreat into an orb everyday, this was so very much unlike their world. "Perhaps they don't require energy, like we do. I shall begin investigations about this immediately." The captain said out loud, thinking about more things and speculating about these flesh ponies.

However, this is not what Ara'ja-meya wanted. She'd go investigate herself! "Ara'ja-meya, I cannot allow this. You want to enter enemy territory just like that? Even with a small force, I highly discourage such actions, at least for you!" The captain said, worried about the safety of their Religious Leader. As a soldier, it was his duty to protect all of the Syntherians' safety, with priority on the other leaders, even if it meant giving his life. But as Military Leader, it was his duty to respect the other leaders' decisions.

After a short mental battle with himself, the captain gave in and nodded at Ara'ja-meya, then turned to face his battalion. "Ten volunteers to accompany Ara'ja-meya, preacher of Zion province!" His voice bellowed over the troops and his head towered over them, allowing him to look even the ones furthest in the back in the eye. Ten Syntherians stepped forward and approached Ara'ja-meya, neatly lined up as always. "For the Great Understanding!" They said in unison and saluted at the preacher of Zion province, Ara'ja-meya.

"I think a new dagger would be nice. If I deal damage at all, I want it to be as much as possible, though I'm not sure about the throwing knives. I'll take 'em, if nopony else wants 'em."
156
The crowd of ponies dispersed, retreating to their homes as darkness fell over Ponyville. Worry was present throughout the town, but the soft, comforting feeling of a warm bed made most of the ponies forget about what had happened just moments prior. The sun had gone and a chilling wind blew through the town while most of the lights coming from the houses in Ponyville went out and the residents went to bed.
157
"I saw the captain attack on of those things! It did nothing!" "What? The captain can't do anything?" "What are we going to do now?" "They're going to burn down Ponyville!" Screams came from the crowd, but it died down immediately when the ponies made of light vanished. Silence fell in Ponyville as the sun slowly set. The crowd stared at where the threat had been, but no longer was. What just happened?
158
"What's going on?" "Who are those?" "Did they cause the fires?" "Guards! Save us!" The crowd shouted to each other as they got closer to the new strange entities, but keeping a safe distance out of fright. They shuffled through each other, some wanted to get closer, some wanted to get away. "Hey! You're not scared of them, are you?!" A particularly loud, obnoxious and young colt called out to the captain of the guard, Zenryo.

Then they fell silent as a mare began to speak up. A hundred eyes stared at her in silence, but that silence lasted for but a short while as the sound of whispering filled the area.
159
"Not only are the solid, but they defy the laws of nature! Is it true, then? Does magic really exist?" The captain said worried, slightly scared, even. But he did not tremble, and nopony could hear any fear in his voice. Regardless of his worry, the captain's head was kept held high and his voice strong and loud as ever. There was no way he'd have his troops' morale lower this early into the invasion.

"The fleshlings have noticed us, but their reactions are slow and stupid. There is but one that seems a threat to us." A smirk formed on his face again and he paused for a moment before continuing. "Go figure how hard this'll be."

The captain's gaze fell upon Ara, but she was attempting to infiltrate the enemy's brain, trying to figure out his strengths and weaknesses and all the information she could gather. He knew, for they had done this ofttimes in the past. Waiting patiently, pacing back and forth in front of his troops, for a response from Ara, whether or not she succeeded. If not, he'd have to gather information the unconventional way.

Spike came running out and fell on his knees, coughing and wheezing, trying to regain some fresh air in his lungs. Due to the captain's attempt at stopping the flames, the poor little dragon nearly suffocated, but he'd manage. A dragon's pretty tough, after all.
