Music Archive / Re: Music Genres

I like little bits of everything, to be honest.

But, my preferred genres would be along the lines of:

Ska
Classic Rock
Punk (though more the earlier age of punk rock)
Classical
Jazz (i LOVE me some good Jazz music)
A bit of Country
and whatever genre Jimmy Buffett belongs to.

Music Archive / Ska fans? maybe?

Seeing all the fans of Metal and Electronic music (no, i don't know the sub-genres by name), I find myself wondering:

Anypony here a fan of Ska? Doesn't matter the era of ska, just in general. It's my genre of choice, so I'm just honestly curious if there's anypony in these forums who shares my liking.

Gotta go with... the Flim Flam Brothers Song. Dunno why. It's always appealed to me. I love "Ya Got Trouble," the song they took inspiration from, so that might just be why.

Honorable mentions go to Smile, Find a Pet, and Babs Seed.

Luna knows i could go into heavy detail of why I love the songs I do, but I'll spare you guys the gush-fest. XP

Just a warning. once i get my voice back, I'm FLOODING this thread. XP

I LOVE holiday music.

I now have enough cans to begin construction of my "Mountain Dew Can Door."

Wish me luck.

I'm glad to see at least one news group taking an objective look at us. It makes me feel sad for the general population's mindset when news group after group look at us and say "look at that group of freaks. what are they doing with their lives? blah blah blah" we've heard it before. It's really nice knowing that somewhere, there are people who see take us at face value, and not try to draw wild, idiotic conclusions based on their own prejudice.

In short: kudos USA Today.

AD/HD (yes, it's real). I got diagnosed with that in Elementary School, and haven't "grown out of it" like some people think happens. Focusing on any one thing that doesn't ABSOLUTELY enthrall me is incredibly difficult, and I tend to not have a sense of whether I'm acting too "hyper" or not. Plus, the fact that it affects my ability to sleep to the point of legitimately making me an insomniac doesn't help.

On top of that, over the past few years, I've been diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Pretty self explanatory. I get nervous very easily, to an almost crippling degree. Social situations are a nightmare, and I am ALWAYS second-guessing EVERYTHING I do. Fun fun fun, am i right?

But i gotta agree. This is an AMAZING community to be a part of, even with this kind of thing. For the most part, the members are insanely kind and accepting of these things, and, more often than not, able and willing to give advice or share experiences about this stuff. I've always loved that we've taken "Love and Tolerance" as not just a funny catchphrase, but a way to live life.

Been a brony since July/August 2011, and still going strong. X3

Either Laughter or Kindness.

They just fit me very well, and how i live my life.

I liked the idea of "different" magic. How, even though the magicks of the 3 pony races has been established as everyday occurrence, almost as commonplace as language, there still exists something else. I think it's really cool how they've hinted at it now. Peaks my interest. I'd love to see how the rest of the fandom (especially the fanfic writers) goes with this.

My talent is making others happy. Either by being there through the tough times, or by supporting them during their high times. Usually at my own expense.

And by Luna's great Night, I wouldn't have it any other way. I've gone 20+ years and i can do 20+ more.

In other words:

I think the song may have made its way into my top five. Just like the episode. X3

Ok. so, I'm gonna say this before someone corrects me. I was wrong. It's been a while since I've seen the first episode, so i went and looked it up. For whatever reason, I remember the line being "The eldest used her Alicorn powers..." while it is actually "...used her UNICORN powers..." so i guess i can begin eating my words now.

Regardless. even though it's not said in the show, it's the common phrase used within the fandom. So you can't really fault people for using it. It has also been used in modern usage to denote a winged unicorn (seperately from FiM). Again, i'm not saying it is ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. I'm just saying it shouldn't be seen as unacceptable.

And, if anyone gives you trouble for calling them one of the other (completely valid, i might add) terms for a winged unicorn, just ignore them. There's no need to get worked up over it, and they don't deserve the effort of an argument.

I don't quite understand why this topic exists... it seems quite unnecessary.

In any case. They are called "Alicorns" in the show, so, when referring to them within the context of the show, "Alicorn" is A correct term. Not necessarily THE ONLY correct term. If you want to call them anything else, go for it. Just don't let other people get to you so much. Love and Tolerance, remember?

My favorite one i've heard used is Scoltland. I don't know why.

Still trying to figure out one for Slovakia, though... Then my life would be complete.
