Do you think a sort of "hand-inked" or "embroidered" effect would be good for the background, or a simple tapistry with ACTUAL shadows on it?  And raised gold leaf for the name?

Shall do, I might actually end needing the feedback anyway.
and well, if anything I want to keep to not too fancy, they are travellers, so I think the former might be what I look for. But what do I know about Calligraphy, I wish I could write fancy with a pen.

Likely I will not vector it for the reason to make it less detailed.
but the problem being that old banners are tall, this one have to be long surely, to be able to fit in the signature.

i can do real calligraphy, with the pen and all, if you want it on there.  In uncial too, if you like that font.

Umm, I do not know of the fonts, I'm afraid, and well, it's kinda hard to add something like that digitally, without having to resort to keeping the background cleanish, and then add it later with gimp or something.

the font that was mentioned earlier, in the spoiler.  And all right then, if you think so.  I would think maybe adjusting contrast and exposure and stuff, and using alpha to selection, and then crop, might work.  And idk if you vector, but if you want i can try in gimp.

I'm not the most artistically inclined; I'm sure that other members here are much more talented than I.
Nevertheless I'll see if I can't throw something together and see if my idea is worth anything or not.
So I'll take a crack at it tomorrow... after exams.

Well, I already have an idea for the banner, I might have a sketch later this day.
I'm thinking something with horseshoes, saddlebags, and unicorns, likely silhouettes of the head only.

I really dislike the creative mode because it's so boring...
because the feeling is much better when you build something with your own collected things.

I concur to this.

Oh well, as for my own Minecrafting, I build whatever I feel like, mostly towers with everything needed in a ~16x16xtall box, I have yet to build one to the new limit.

Currently I am working on a hobbit hill of my own, I admit, I kinda cheated, I found a giant cave that hollowed out the ground and built a hill ontop of it, but again I am making the rooms in wood and to keep them brightly lit, cosy, and spacious at all the same is proving hard.
I call myself Travius Smallburrow while in the hill.

I almost always use the normal pack, to make sure my stuff also look good to the other players, but my favoured pack is Glimmars steampunk, it catches the dark steampunk style I like so much perfectly.

Oh geez, everyone is so artistic, and all I can do is write stuff I am jelly.

You know, being able to write is also a great thing, take me, I can not write a good story to safe my live.
So if I wanted to make a comic it would likely be boring and plain to boot.
I tend to work in a too systematic manner to write stories, so I stick with making systems for roleplaying.

And I myself have only learned Drawing trough practice, practice, practice, and more practice, and still I get stuck at the poses.

Well, currently, I'm working on some Setting for some roleplaying, mostly just  a hobby of mine.
I also work on a Costume for the next convention I'm going to, then there's also the sketching I do a bit of, and lastly there's my minecraft server that I manage...

I recommend Full Metal Panic, its an anime that mixes comedy with science fiction 

I concur!
Well, there are two anime series of that name, on that's more serious and with two seasons.
And then there's the spin off "Full Metal Panic Fummofu" or something like that, the latter is filled with comedy, and is actually a bit consistent throughout the 13 episodes.

I myself have only watched the latter of the two.

Well, I would recommend Spice and Wolf, all of DOT//HACK, and Chibi vampire.

For each show is a short description:
Spice and Wolf, it's a show about a travelling merchant and how he 'befriends' Holo the wise wolf, it's a show that have a slow and calm nature, with the required bits of tension, but it avoids actual violence at all times.

Dot hack, it's a series that are in many parts, and I would recommend starting with //Sign, as it's gives an idea of the setting and such, but it's very slow and not very exiting and runs mostly on the psychological aspects of people ingame.

And Chibi Vampire is, compared to the others, much more comedic and it's less focused on a story, and most on romantic comedy.

And Skar, Paradise said not too much violence, that show holds at least one battle per episode, and I would say more, but I would spoil TTGL if I did.
