It's not fun when there's a bad male/female ratio ><

EDIT: Note to self: don't use a 6 IV parent when breeding for a specific Nature as well... (You might end up getting perfect IVs in the wrong stat.)

Spoiler: EDIT 2: Well... this just happened to me thanks to one of my Base Pals • show
Sorry about the quality, lighting, etc.

(If you can't read it, it says "Naomi obtained a Master Ball!")

EDIT 3: Shell Armor Oshawott and Thick Fat (later becomes Reckless) Tepig are now ready to be given away! As before, your options are (for both): 5 IV male or 4 IV female, but not both genders for one particular Pokémon since I didn't have enough room for more.

1: You're not kidding about gender ratios.  I managed to pop out a Shiny Riolu earlier this week, but it was a male and my (overly)-specific needs want it to be female.  Then trying to better my breeding stock for a Bulbasaur I wanted didn't give me a single female Chlorophyll that was better than my current parent.  At least that one eventually worked out.

2: Awesome luck with that item!  I didn't even know that's something that could happen in a Secret Base.  Clearly I need to actually start playing AS more...

3: May I request a Shell Armor Oshawott?  4 IV Female is preferred, but again I can breed one myself given a male.  Whatever you can spare.

Invade? Join us! The last several times were really fun, wouldn't want anyone to miss out!  ^-^

I kinda get where Lync is coming from.  At least for someone like me, it's that you don't want to get in someone's way or hamper their enjoyment.  But at the same time I'm kinda lacking on the social aspects and don't really chat with people, especially strangers, much.  It's just too far out of my comfort zone.

Now I have to repeat the process with Oshawott and Tepig ><

At the very least you can use the same parents to start, since all three starters are in the Field egg group?  X3

It seems to me that the X/Y thread is kind of dying out on its own really.  There hasn't been a post in months, and the last few were Rikaria's anyways.  I like the idea of a centralized Pokemon thread, but I think chatting with whoever started the X/Y thread might be a good idea before declaring "this is the thread for all things Pokemon EVAR!" >:O

Probably later this year, unless a Gen 4 remake comes out first :o

Actually...funny story  X3 It seems Serebii and Bulbapedia mention a giveaway in Japan back in the Gen 5 era:

"A password could be found in the 「ポケモンカードゲームBW(ビーダブリュー)「はじめてセット」 Pokémon Card Game BW Starter Set that allows players of Pokémon Black and White to obtain one of the Sinnoh starter Pokémon."
Source: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/List_of_Pokémon_Global_Link_promotions/Pokémon

Which should mean some diligent breeder has them floating around somewhere even now...the trick now is finding one.

Another trade done!

And another thank you in order!  :D  I hadn't even realized what egg group Snivy was in, but the IVs on the one you gave me will help out when I try breeding a Bulbasaur and/or Turtwig later.  Now what are the odds that a Shell Armor Turtwig will suddenly appear...? :/

Rikaria and I finally got around to trading Pokemon after the Global Link went down earlier this week, so I now have myself a lovingly bred Contrary Snivy!  :D  Not only that, but I realized that the concentrated IVs she has will make breeding the other two grass starters I've been meaning to work on, Venasaur and Torterra, a whole heck of a lot easier.

Not only that, but while I was waiting/training a different Pokemon, I ended up finding and catching a shiny Vanillite!

I guess I was asking if anyone knew how much was locked down when the next egg is calculated; everything I've read so far only talks about which IVs will be taken from which parent, and obviously nature if you're using an Everstone.  But it's not worth my time to try and figure out right now, so I think I'll go about it the old fashioned way and hope for some good RNG with the Masuda method.  I mean, how bad can the odds of a 1/512 ratio lining up with a 1/8 ratio be?

...No one answer that, please.  :c

Well I've actually made it to Slateport City in AS now. About ready to get to Mauville, grab a bike, then go alllll the way back to Dewford and catch the Aron I was looking to add to my team.  I expected to grab one just after Brawly, but someone decided to put the only place they're found on top of a mudslide hill.  Bother.

In other Pokemon news, I'm looking for someone who understands the time machine breeding method well enough to answer a question. I get that if you set it up right, you can figure out what IVs will pass down from parent to child, but at that point are the gender/shiny value locked?  Or is it possible for it to change between resets?  I'd like to breed a shiny female Riolu (yeah I know the gender ratio makes it worse, but I'm crazy for details) and considered trying the time machine method.  Is this a bad idea?

Are you still able to trade with X and Y?  I haven't gotten very far in Alpha Sapphire just yet...I also haven't given out my 3DS friend code yet, but I can fix that as well.  I'm dying for a Contrary Snivy; I wouldn't even care about nature or IVs, since I'm kinda nuts about breeding myself.  I don't even play competitively, but...it's a Contrary Snivy!  That's awesome!  And massive props at being willing to breed multiple of them.

I'm already in the middle of breeding Contrary Snivy, though it'll probably take me longer than I thought because I'm actually trying to go for 5-6 perfect IVs for the first time in my whole Pokémon career. (No, I don't need breeding tips.)

Breeding for IV's can be a real pain, I feel ya.  I've made exactly one perfect-iv Pokemon by accident.  Best of luck on your quest for perfect Pokemon!

I joined a facebook group full of amazing painters and now I feel I have the drawing skill of a piece of cardboard.
And also if my dad doesn't get a job we'll have to shut down our internet connection. yay....

I had a costume design class last semester when I had literally no artistic drawing experience beforehand.  Trust me, I know what you mean about feeling like your skills are awful, but if you've put time and emotion into it your work is a lot better than you think.  Chances are you are your own worst critic.

Best of luck to your father about getting a job.

Persistence (and a whole lot of soft resetting) pays off: I have found my white whale.  Or more accurately magenta...a Shiny Kyogre!  :D  And even better because I had everything on standby, I've already got it from HeartGold all the way up to Alpha Sapphire...now I just have to actually play the game, which I might just now be in the mood to do...

I'm just glad this didn't last nearly as long as some stories I've heard about shiny hunts...IV's aren't great, but this was more a trophy than a competitive 'mon.  I'm happy as is! ^-^

ESPN's "Santa Interview" commercial that keeps cropping up on youtube, namely how it declares that watching video game clips instead of a Christmas Day basketball game as being "naughty".  Well some of us don't particularly like basketball, or sports in general.  Ever consider that, you pompous git?  :/  I may have even considered it kind of funny, if I didn't keep seeing it specifically on Let's Player's channels.  Try a different audience guys, like one you actually connect to!

In other news, my insane idea to catch a shiny Kyogre in HeartGold, since the verdict is still out if its shiny locked in AS.  I have the Master Ball, I have the Synchronize Pokemon I want (not as vital, it's more for show than competitive) and I have the save file exactly right.  Now all there is to do is soft-reset a couple billion times in the hope the RNG comes out right.  Merry Christmas to me! :D

On the subject of needles, I once had to get my blood drawn.  I was 8 (I think) and it was the worst experience I had EVER had in my life up to that point.
So after what felt like 10 solid minutes of lady digging a needle into my arm, she finally told us to come back in a week and drink more water.

So after dreading it the whole week, I went back up to the place and we did it all, over, again.

I remember the last time I had my blood drawn.  Apparently my veins tend to roll, so they kept missing it.  I did get it done in one sitting thankfully, but thanks to said deathly fear of needles, I was not a happy child.

Also, I recall a time when I'd braved going in for a shot I needed, perhaps the first time I'd said "let's just get this over with", and after letting me sweat in the waiting room maybe 10-15 minutes, the nurse came out and told me they didn't have the shot stocked and to come back the next week.  My mom understood my pain, but still laughed because it was kind of funny.  I assure you I wasn't laughing with her, at least for quite a few days...

I now also despise the announcment system in airports, it's absolutely useless for getting information across, regardless of volume, if you can't UNDERSTAND what they're saying, made me miss a plane and basically lose my ENTIRE evening because the roll call's impossible to understand without specifically 100% trying to listen VERY closely.

During my recent joyous experience at the airport, I was desperate to get information about what had happened to the plane.  Ran smack-dab into this problem; if you're anywhere outside the actual gate where the tiny little speakers are, you're not hearing squat of the announcement.  I was sitting just outside the gate I was supposed to depart from (not in thanks to limited seating) and every time there was an announcement I had to stand up and walk over to even catch a snippet of what they were saying.  That+the attendants not repeating themselves=me missing half the dialogue and inducing panic because I couldn't tell what was going on. >:O

When people misunderstand and horribly misinterpret a simple slogan, making the people who use the slogan out to be bad or rude. :l It's not their fault you're missing the dang point. And stop suggesting your own slogan! Your slogan does not fit what their whole thing is about! Their slogan does fit! You're just too blind to see that, and it's sad that it has to be explained. It kind of shows that you don't even comprehend what they're doing.
Well, China did just ban wordplay to avoid "misleading the public - especially children. " (source: http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/nov/28/china-media-watchdog-bans-wordplay-puns), so some people may in fact be too incompetent to get a joke.  I admit sometimes a pun goes right over my head, but at least I don't get up in arms about it.

so my molar decided hey, it's friday night.  Today's the best for me to shatter and disintegrate!

Because I can't do a thing about it until Tuesday.  Which also means I cant eat for three days....

I had a filling in my back molar that decided "nuts to you" and popped out of my mouth about two months ago.  Problem was, I was A ) at school, away from my dentist, and B ) had JUST canceled the cleaning appointment I'd scheduled before I knew I was going to be in another state.  I was sure it was a conspiracy...fortunately I found a local dentist who could fix it up, but it still took a week between looking at the damage and being able to fix it.  Did I mention this was right before Halloween?

Anyways, hope you can get things sorted without too much trouble.  I know dental work is "fun" all on its own, no bill required!

Had a rough flight back home for winter break.  I know people have had worse flight experiences than this, but due to high winds in the area my flight was delayed 5 hours.  By far my worst flight experience, and I'd love for it to stay that way.

That RWBY art is beautiful, and fits so well!  I just wonder how the whole Faunus thing works in this case...

Just finished a nice little game called To the Moon, introduced to me by a youtuber who made me too impatient to see the story.  Very simple, almost a visual novel really, but by Celestia the story!  An absolutely beautiful narrative backed by fantastic music...I paid full price on steam ($12, which included the separate soundtrack) and I feel almost like I didn't pay enough for what I got.  Plus it has a couple cute pony references, on top of reminding me of the old Animorphs book series I read when I was younger.  It has a few uses of stronger language, but if there's anyone out there who wants a sweet little game that's likely to make you cry, I DEFINITELY suggest picking it up, or at least watching someone's play-through of it.
