Apparently, there are people who think cube-shaped watermelons are genetically modified.

No, guys, cube-shaped watermelons are not the product of GMOs. You don't actually need to breed them specially to make them grow into a cube shape.

All you need is a plastic box.

That's literally it. A plastic box. You put it around the watermelon bud, and since the watermelon can't grow past the sides of the box, it fills up the shape of the box, thus ending up cube-shaped.

That's also how Disney World gets their Mickey Mouse head pumpkins. They put a plastic container shaped like Mickey's head around a pumpkin bud.

So simple it's brilliant. Wow.  o_O

As for the GMO scare...anything to rile up people on the internet.  Just earlier today I watched as a forum descended into madness from a very clearly trollish post, awestruck at how easily people fell for it.

Ok...I know I talk about games a lot. A LOT. And a lot of times, I'm scared that I'm annoying people on here and in real life by talking about them so much. I'm just waiting for someone to say "get a life", or "stop taking them so seriously". Well, I'm sorry, but video games, as well as certain idols of mine on YouTube, saved my life. In my opinion, I feel like I kind of owe it to them to talk and praise them, and I don't care what anyone else says. But I still feel bad after seeing all the serious problems people post about on here, and all I can post about is something from a game being hard or something like that. So, I'm really sorry if I've annoyed anyone on here with how much I talk about games.
Now back to what I was originally going to post about. (Yes, it's about a game.)
Before, I mentioned UnderTale having a jumpscare in the evil end. Well, now I've read what else happens in the evil end. More specifically, about what things you have to do.
NO.
I will say this, and I am dead serious when I do: I will NEVER take the evil path. UnderTale, over a weekend, has become one of my absolute favourite games so far, and that's because of the story and characters. I loved almost every character you run into, and seeing what you have to do on the evil path (not to mention the fact that it permanantly affects your game unless you mess about with the files) repulsed me more than any other game I'd seen, purely because of how much I like the characters. I probably sound like a sad loser for saying this, but even if they are just pixels on a screen, I will NOT HURT THEM.

Everyone has their own passions, and their own reasons.  When I'm posting here (like my last big rant) I wonder if it's really worth posting about when everyone else has seemingly worse issues to bring up.  But then I realize that's what the thread is for: vent a little about what's bugging you that day.  Sure it might not be on the same scale as someone else, but that isn't reason to feel bad posting it.  And I totally get not wanting to hurt characters in games: even in Saint's Row III I can't bring myself to fight anyone who won't fight back (in a serious respect, anyways).  In terms of catharsis I've only ever been able to load up Minecraft and blow up an open field with TNT.

I had a really anxious day for some reason.  I slept well for the first time this week, but since I woke up something has been really under my skin.  Right now it's the prospect of the very nasty earthquake that will happen sometime in the future and trying to avoid panicking about where I'll be when it happens.  That, and I swear half of my whites disappeared when I tried to gather them for laundry today...I have no idea where they would have gone, I've checked everywhere they might have wandered to in my room, or I could be imagining that I had so many in the first place.  Still, going mad.  ovO

I just watched a clip where a couple of newscasters from FOX News just flat out ask why people are so crazy about Star Wars and gang up on/talk over the one guy they actually dragged in to explain it to them.  While that kind of ignorance of a fandom is irritating on its own I wouldn't feel spurred to post about it here; however, there was one quote that sent me over. (paraphrased) "I think it's overrated but also it's over-saturated: it's in Halloween costumes, it's on Monday Night Football and is so big because freaks go online 2 months in advance and ruin the experience for normal movie watchers..."

First point: Fine, you can think a movie series is overrated.  That's no reason to bash it: I find football (and all sports really) to be overrated, you have any idea how annoying it is to see EVERYWHERE I go?

Buying tickets 2 months in advance: how early do people buy Superbowl tickets?  (Actual serious question, I'm curious)  It's a big event that you can just sit in your own home, be far more comfortable and enjoy it just as well.  Sure movies can be shown again, but it's the opening event, being the ones there first to see it "in person".

Calling fans "Freaks": people passionate about something?  Yeah, I think everyone here would know how this one is bonk.  BTW I can apply that just as well to football fanatics, keep that in mind.

"Normal" movie watchers: Using the phrase "normal" bugs me in contexts like this.  To me it implies that something is wrong with the other party, the "not normal" one.  Who defines said normalcy exactly?

...dear Luna I should be sleeping.  This might make no sense in 8+ hours even to me.  Guess we'll have to see.

I just realized that my latest advertisement from Hot Topic had as the mail title: "At least we waited til November to push our holiday stuff".

Why must this be a valid statement worthy of at least some praise?!  >:O

Sadly, we have to wait two weeks for episode 3. X3 It's delayed to a scheduling conflict with a 24 hour Extra Life livestream.

Ah, I was wondering about the reason why.  Oh well, I'll be patient...though I still want an inside look at how Dust works.  Then I might be confident enough to finalize said OC...after I find a last name for him of course.  I say I can write well, but when it comes to character names...bleh.  :I

I just caught up on RWBY for the week and, while I'm still anxious to see next episode, I'm just happy they justified a part of my OC's design I was a little worried about being physically practical (by RWBY standards anyways, where physical practicality is already subject to "how awesome can we make this?!").

We've been informed that Scumbag Tyson will be closing down our factory for the entire week of Christmas, but only giving us holiday pay for Christmas eve and Christmas day. Because that's exactly what working-class people need is to lose half a week of wages right at Christmas time! If we want to get paid for the other 3 days then we're being forced to use paid vacation days for it, which is bogus. Those days are for personal time off, we shouldn't be forced to use them just to keep from getting stiffed.

Must be nice to be on a salary and not have to worry about stuff like these.

Using paid vacations for days the actual office (or factory or wherever someone works) is closed always struck me as a stupid idea, and I've never had to worry about that because I'm still dependent on my dad!  If the building is closed, don't short-change your workers for it, because YOU made that decision!

It's actions like this that make me really hate corporations...and hate the fact that they're a necessary evil, at least with how our society is going.  It's just too easy for someone at the top to make a decision without ever knowing, or caring, about the damages it causes to far too many of it's workers.

I've been feeling sick all day, and when I decide I might try to go to bed early one of my hallmates decides to host a party in the common room.  Which is on the other side of one of my walls.  At 1 in the morning with people talking full volume and occasionally cheering at something they're watching.  That mixed with me being too shy to walk out there and ask them to keep it down is making for one cranky Midnight.

After an up-and-down day, I was greeted back at my dorm with a package: my puzzle Aetherium crystal and Castle in the Sky score I wasn't expecting to be shipped from China for a few more days.  Even better: the crystal can be worn.  Hello surprise Halloween accessory!  :D

People using an in-game hacker siting (obviously not here, another MMO I frequent) as an attention grabbing exercise.  Just report them to the forum moderator to pass the message on and be done with it, no one wants to hear you whine about it.

McDonalds?! What in Luna's name happened there?  o.O

I wonder if it has something to do with golden arches and Hoopa's gold rings...but in that case I'd immediately think Target rings.

I just hope they realize I'm still not buying their "food" unless I'm completely starving.

Edit: I really need to check the months on these dates...I just walked out to a nearby McDonalds and tried to download something that isn't going to be around for another month.  At least I got some errands done while I was out.

Oh yeah, also, Maud goes to rock school, a school that teaches ponies all about rocks.
Pinkie asked how school has been going, and Maud was like "If you thought quartz was hard on the hardness scale, wait 'til I tell you about" something.

She seems to really love learning about rocks. Maye her future career is geologist. ^-^
And Limestone seems really passionate about the farm. I'm sure she's gonna take it over when she's older.

I'm actually in a semi-geology course right now, and I found a few of the jokes related to it just a bit too funny...particularly the one about extrusive andesite.  Though it really makes me start wondering how Equestria  formed...

I think Maud was talking about corundum btw, and that joke makes me wonder who invented the Mohs hardness scale in Equestria.  So much history!

I see an awful lot of wannabe samurais bashing European greatswords.

Katana fanboys seem to think combat is all about speed, when its only one factor. The tip of the blade is often the main factor, not the time it takes to swing it around. Do you really think the greatswordsman is going to just charge in all Tarzan like and take a huge swing, leaving himself open to a counterattack? No, he's gonna be holding his sword out in front of him keeping mr. samurai at a distance and win by reach.

Katanas are overrated weapons, srysly.

When it comes to video games, I've always preferred a straight-bladed sword, one hand with shield or (comically over-sized) two hand.  Mind you I know nothing about actual combat, but I think any weapon could be viable given someone knowing how to use it...that's why the weapon was invented in the first place, right?

When I pull into the lot to try and get my haircut yesterday, already running late because phone servicing took much longer than anticipated, I find that a couple of construction workers have parked a van in the middle of two spots.  Apparently it had been sitting like that for several hours by the time I come in (about 3:00), because when I tell my stylist what happened out there she says that several other customers have complained about that same thing.  Now I understand you have a job to do...but especially if you're gonna be here a while, maybe do a decent job with parking?  Please?

Trying to sift through relative information when it comes to...well anything really, but specifically now deciding on a new phone.  Especially when I don't have a good frame of reference: I don't know how much RAM this thing might need for my purposes, so what some people call insufficient I don't know if I'd be using nearly that much.
That, and feeling that whole "first world problems" bug when I have choices as to a new phone...at least I waited until my old one basically kicked the bucket?  >.<

I had a sudden smack-in-the-face realization after watching a blind reaction (again) to Crusaders of the Lost Mark:

Spoiler: show
Incorporating the intro into the very very end of the episode, with Spike sending the new picture.  Just like the song says not a few seconds before, and as a fantastic secondary lesson for all, achieving your longtime goal isn't just an end, but an entire new start to a new adventure, a whole new episode in your life.  It feels so clear now that I'm a little embarrassed I wasn't beaten over the head with that connection earlier.

Those days where it feels like everything goes wrong just because heck to you.  Thankfully I was able to vent well to someone who completely understood where I was coming from, so I'm no longer in such a damaged mental state that I might take a sledgehammer to stranger's doors, run about naked and/or sing "Right Said Fred" at the top of my lungs...

Thank you for correcting my thoughts on the 5 Stages, somehow I forgot the order. The episode was a good representation of it, I think.

Spoiler: show

The 5 stages don't have a prescribed order that everyone experiences them in, these were a little out of "order", but I agree it's still a good representation of someone going through them all.

Honestly speaking, she did show a weakening in resolve a bit over time, and she got shown how her attempts to break the CMC and the like were becoming less effective. I think once she viewed how hard others try to get their marks, she figured the final puzzle pieces out. The following situation with Pipsqueak showed a, albeit rushed, state of denial to the truth in her mind, before acceptance and a fighting for what she knows as truth occurred.

*Will probably review this later on in this thread.

Spoiler: show
I guess that's true, but I didn't see those as obvious signs of her weakening, more as the CMC getting stronger.  Sure that would have had an effect on Diamond, but I still feel like it could have been better hinted at in previous episodes.  Just feels like something in the transition is missing to me, but I can't place exactly what.  The pacing in this episode is just gonna bug me any way I look at it, but for the time they had to tell the story they wanted I'm willing to let the rushed pacing slide here.

I have one other gripe about this episode I didn't mention before, and I feel will never get properly answered: where in Luna's name are Scootaloo's parents?!  Are we just supposed to assume she's either an orphan or abandoned by this point?  Sure, introducing them out of the blue for the finale of this episode would be a shock, but her family wasn't addressed at all, instead letting RD fill in for the big sister role (which was sweet enough that I almost forgave this issue on its own.  Almost.)

Now I'm inspired to look through the episode for the "5 stages of grief"...lets see here, denial ("I demand a recount"), depression (her whole song), anger (interactions with the CMC when they try to check up on her), bargaining (her thinking "if I can just get Pip kicked out of office, then everything can go back to normal"), and of course acceptance in the end.  Ain't pattern recognition fun?  :D

I...I don't even...  :o

I was really seriously hesitant to believe ANY of that happened, I thought it was all gonna be undone by a "just made up" reply at the very end there.  The entire last song I missed because I kept asking "is this really happening?!"

Anyways, as for the episode itself, I really truly liked it.  Great singing, awesome animation, adorable story, it was nearly perfect...save for two things.  The first is the fandom explosion/implosion fallout we're about to see (not a serious thing for me, that's going to happen with any episode that changes something) and that I agree Diamond Tiara's story is very cliche.  I get that parental influence can be catastrophic for personal image, but I just didn't buy how quick she turned around; even counting the fact that it's a 22 minute episode I don't believe Diamond Tiara would have turned around so quickly.  If maybe there had been notes of her views weakening over a few episodes I could buy that she just broke with this one.

On that note though, I had in my head an interesting thought during Diamond's song about how she should be strong: diamonds are tough, but they still break.  Look up "Diamond flaws" on wikipedia and the second sentence says simply "few diamonds are perfect", which I believe and understand applies to Diamond Tiara, but like I mentioned earlier I just wish we'd seen a few of these flaws beforehand...

Also trying not to be too critical of the CMC's new marks: after 5 seasons anything they got was going to be in some way disappointing to the infinite possibilities beforehand.  I'm just still in shock (but overjoyed  :D) that we got to actually see it happen!!

Generic NPC chatter, I take it?

Had a pretty good example of the "Catapult Nightmare" trope this morning.  I dreamed I was in a room, just having got up from bed when I realized that the room had several other residents: a few daddy long-legs and a black-slagging widow.  I was engaging in a terrified duel with the widow using a makeshift flyswatter when it suddenly was the size of a tarantula and  dropped off of its web atop me.  Next thing I was aware of I was a foot above my bed, digging frantically in the covers to find it.  At least it got me out of bed?  :/
