Messages - The Clockwork King

*ruffles Shade's mane* It's ok, Clockwork doesn't either, and I'm pretty sure that if he did he'd pay them no mind...
322
Aww, family bonding at its finest! ^-^
323
You might be best waiting, Clockwork's still scrubbing himself clean after Discord dumped frog spawn over him. I'm actually rather surprised the baby frogs didn't ignite under the heat of his temper...
I won't say he's looking forward to being disturbed from whatever he's doing just for the sake of being introduced, but do bear in mind that insults directed at your characters are from his mouth alone, if he even has a mouth...
"Where my mouth is located is of no concern to you, nor anyone else! Now if you don't mind the plumbing in this facility is atrocious! I could bleed more steam from a kettle!"

Good day to you all.
I am currently awaiting confirmation from Magus on how Clockwork shall enter this story, in the meantime I wish you all the very best, especially Asterian whom gave some help on character creation and Magus himself for such an opportunity to play. Updates from me may be slower in most cases, my computer currently lacks internet so I must send the text through my phone and copypasta the text into the message. I would type as I am now, but it is frightfully uncomfortable and tentative, especially if my phone fritzes.
Nevertheless, my hardest I shall try! Ave Dominius ex Temporis!

Talent: Creating and selling machines with purpose (An inventor if you will).
Occupation: Current CEO of Clockwise Industries.
Magical Abilities: Possesses heat based magic, ordinarily utilized though contraptions which attach to his horn, such as a welding torch or a headlight. Such powers can be utilised without attachments, but are more dangerous due to the exposed flames.
326
Ok.
Right.
Fine.
How about this?
Name: Clockwork
Age: 50
Species: Unicorn
Gender: Stallion
Place of Residence: Isle of Fire as before, yet without the palace. Some of the larger factories are also partial to his living quarters.
Disposition: Severely distrustful of anything neither mineral nor mechanical, but puts on a gentlemanly, if sardonic, facade for customers.

For the second time, Clockwork is not a pony. He "walks" upright, has arms and hands, identifiably almost humanoid in shape.
Regardless.
Species will be changed to Spirit, possibly a ghost in a machine if that would be allowed. Utilising dark magic, Clockwork transferred his spirit from mortal body to one he created to better suit his needs. His form beforehand is lost even to him.

Age decreased from ~3000 years to ~200 give or take mortal years.

The Isle of Fire and Copper is to the south of Equestria, around the equator, it has been Clockwork's home for 10 decades and is heavily industrialised to suit his needs, as well as well defended. Notable features of the island include the volcano located off centre on the small island, alongside the copper plated structures that engulf  most of the volcano's base. Near the tip sits Clockwork's palace, defended by guards and gates alike whilst inside sit extensions of the factories present on the outside. Lava has been drained to create more landmass and to remove the risk of flooding during mining operations.

So kind. ^-^

Name: Clockwork
Species/Race: Mechanoid
Gender: Male
Age (Assume ponies have the same life-span as humans): ~3000 years
Place of Residence: Island of Fire and Copper
Typical Disposition (Attitude towards strangers): Distrustful and generally rather rude.

Ah right, in which case such information should be changed to something less imposed on canon. Perhaps a time before Discord was where he fought his war against nature, paid the price once the war stalemated and retreated into obscurity? Since then he has defended his island from chaos and everlasting night (not that the latter would matter to him) and has only now begun with his businesslike approach into mainland Equestria? History books have forgotten he and his enemy, and the only ones able to remember them would be Discord and perhaps the Celestial Sisters.

Apologies if I came off as harsh in my previous post, I have no idea what was up with me.

Your review has been noted, though I must be quick to point out that Clockwork is not of pony form (note long trenchcoat, lithe figure, arms and hands. A picture shall be uploaded in due time for helpful representation)
But mostly an explanation and a tweaking of characteristics is in order, alongside a bio to explain such things. I want Clockwork to be different, with a different means to enforce a different goal, and if that means he must sacrifice his time powers for simply time magic then I have no qualms. Another interjection I must make is that I used the term "lesser god" too loosely, such title does not include the Princesses or Discord nor any god that Magus would have crafted, but overall it is a complex terminology and shall be removed..
But consider, I did not know of Magus' hierarchy before yesterday. In my mind, Clockwork, alongside the princesses, Chrysalis and my next character to create, Queb, all took up their responsibilities from the moment they were created to halt Discord. It would be his very right to be of godly status, even if he did come away the weakest after the infighting he brought about (the bio shall handle the explanation).
331
Yes Magus, a point well made. Thanks to that advice I shall begin with my changes to Clockwork, and many they shall be in this case.
But, in retort to the aspect of "god modding" I must clarify that it never was, or will be, my intention to outplay any of you. Lawful Evil may be strange to this group, but it is an alignment that best fits him, and if that means I shall make it more difficult for myself when it comes to playing, so be it. I welcome such a challenge. Also note that Time Control, as the Valeyard you own seems to have, is not in my mind the same as Manipulation. How you put it, the Valeyard is lord and master over all of time and its entropies, meanwhile Clockwork simply utilises select powers through his own arcane magic. He is limited to his planning, is unable to simply conjure materials from thin air and, if he were to be introduced now, would be both weak and barely protected by what remaining soldiers he has due to fighting his way inland. Long gone is the Equestria he once wanted to turn to dust, now he is knee deep in enemy territory, his abilities are failing constantly due to the warped time of Discord, thus nullifying his soldiers innate ability to reassemble themselves. A point I must make is that Clockwork's soldiers are automatons, and cannot be simply turned against him. Though on the opposing hand, it would be childs play for Discord to bypass Clockwork's weakened shielding and turn their gears into liquorice.
He is not there to replace your gods, Magus, he is there to see through a plan which he believes will make his life easier, and if he must degrade himself to near mortal in order to do it, who is he to argue with fate?
For your consideration.

Name: Clockwork
Age: N/A
Species: Mechanoid
Gender: Identifies as Male
Affiliation: Clockwise Industries (CEO), Empire of Gears (Ruler)
Orientation: Lawful-Evil, Lawful-Neutral

Abilities:
Time Manipulation: Note that this was nullified through a personal contract with the Valeyard, alongside Discord's chaotic influence.
Smithing Skills: Clockwork is a master of the forge, and his talent with ore-born metals is near second to none. Though he requires actual materials to build such devices, alongside the time and adequate tools needed in proportion to the build, the quality of his products never cease to be anything but masterful. (Note: At the beginning of his introduction, Clockwork would have relied on his factories to mass produce products, meaning that he would need to practice before making items of quality. Couple this with his attitude problems, Clockwork may be unwilling at times to create items based on request.)
Task Force: Accompanying him in his foray into discordant lands is a group of 6 Mechaponies which, due to the weakening of Clockwork's magical field, have lost their usual ability to reassemble themselves, can only use a low damage electrical attack to deter attackers and can only form a wall of bodies in defence of a target designated by Clockwork. The Mechaponies are not susceptible to forms of mind control, as they have no mind, but are otherwise vulnerable to spells of physical nature and can be tricked if a decoy Clockwork is used.

Appearance: Tall, lithe figure that shares no resemblance to pony anatomy. Entire body seems to be made of copper with hints of gold. Head akin to an owl; with large goggle-like eyes that faintly glow with a crystal blue light, short beaked nose, no discernible mouth and a metallic-black goatee. Arms end with blunt-clawed hands, within one a cane is usually carried. Mobility is provided via a device within the reaches of his trench-coat, hidden from view and can be adjusted for ducking and dodging, but does not possess flight capabilities. Lower torso holds a shape akin to an hourglass, possibly serving as the housing for floatation device. Apparel includes a black, jewelled cane tipped with a hoof-sized cut diamond, a long, dark red trench-coat that obscures said floatation device and a black stovepipe hat that seems attached to his head unless tilted by Clockwork.

Personality:
Businesslike: A being of authority and influence first before a creature of evil intentions, Clockwork prefers to not have to waste precious time and resources on easily stalemated fights, instead looking to barter himself into a better position. However, his tactical approach to business opportunities are often accompanied by his impatient nature, and if the deal begins to milk his own resources more than his target's Clockwork will not think twice about threatening the offender. Granted, most of these threats are conjured to scare the deal into his favour and rarely take form, but if one were to push the Clockwork King too far he may just bring about his threat in a manner most unwelcome.
Arrogant: The ruler of his own empire, both business and militant, before jumping to this Equestria has left Clockwork a rotten being. The King is all too ready to prune back compliments to others whilst glorifying those in his direction. Highly unwilling to dirty his own hands, the Mechaponies under his command unarguably make up for most of the manual labour he is assigned. The only time that he will not use his personal force is in the crafting of items, as he considers himself the most professional that area.
Suspicious: Clockwork is highly distrustful of anyone he meets, a lifetime of solitude before the accidental hop into this universe has allowed the Clockwork King to build his personal defences high, convincing himself that anything lacking mechanical or mineral qualities is not to be trusted. Alternatively to others he is psychologically repulsive, his unwillingness to degrade himself to the levels of others and his spiteful nature puts friend and foe alike at considerable distance.

Strengths:
Quick Thinking: Many lifetimes of running a near global business in his home dimension has taught Clockwork to think on his feet at blurring speeds, allowing logic and plans within plans to dictate his next form of action, before carrying out that action with utmost efficiency.
Smithing Skills: With practice, Clockwork can create/recreate even the most bizarre contraptions if given enough time, materials and viable plans or references to work from. The overall quality of the product will grow better the more times he uses his skill.
Knowledgeable: Though adamant to share information regarding himself, Clockwork possesses profound knowledge of mechanical devices, their key points and weaknesses. This can also be somewhat transferrable to other operations, such as locating secret entrances and identifying more covert routes through hostile territory, providing he is allowed to take time to study the landscape.

Brief Bio: Back in his home dimension Clockwork was entangled within a bitter struggle for power on both an economical and militant level, from his stronghold on the Island of Fire and Copper he conducted many thousands of operations to ensure that the war between he and the Guardian of Nature, Queb, end in his favour, alongside industrialising Equestria into a new age of progress. With Sombra's kingdom taken, Chrysalis and her hive occupied with civil war and the Celestial Sisters busy hunting down a rampant God of Chaos, Clockwork's army was moving at a worrying speed thanks to the exploitation of his own brand of time magic, to which the Laws of Time were his to reshape. It was during the battle of Diamond Pass that Clockwork ended up in this current dimension, an accidental discharge of his time powers considerably altered the timeline to the one he currently resides in. With the almighty Valeyard angered that such a being dared flaunt such power without question, Clockwork was to be returned to the dust he came from. It was a last second proposition that saved the Copper King, that the Time God instead strip him of his powers and force him to build his empire from scratch, whilst in return be able to utilise a fraction of his army and to keep his body and mind without hindrance. After examining all timelines for any hint of hidden agendas, the Valeyard reluctantly agreed, placing Clockwork upon a decaying shadow of his home alongside one hundred soldiers. Through process of elimination, Clockwork guessed that Discord ran this current world and to a being of law and order, that was wholly unacceptable. Raising the ancient bridge between his home and the mainland, Clockwork led his soldiers into the new chaotic world. Now he searches for any way to return to his own dimension, or any means to make this world succumb to the New Empire of Gears.

Purpose/Mission: To return to his own dimension with bolstered forces and win the Equestrian War, before somehow returning to dominate this crippled world as well.

I trust this is to everyone's taste. I also apologise for the multitude of modified posting, my phone is not the nicest thing at times  >:O

Original Characters / The Clockwork King
2013 Sep 18, 08:28:25
Name: Clockwork
Age: N/A
Species: Mechanoid
Gender: Identifies as Male
Affiliation: Lawful Evil/Lawful Neutral
Element: Time
Appearance:

  • Tall lithe figure that appears to hover through unknown technological means.

  • Head is akin to an owl in appearance, with large goggle-like eyes, short beaked nose, no mouth and a metallic black goatee.

  • Arms are constructed of copper piping, with bluntly clawed mechanical hands within one a jeweled cane is usually carried.

  • Apparel includes cane, a black stovepipe hat with copper rim and a long, dark-red trenchcoat which covers the unseen mode of transportation.

  • Lower chest and waist holds a shape akin to an hourglass.

Personality:

  • Businesslike. Clockwork is a creature of power first and a machination of evil second. If he cannot buy it out first, he chooses to either find a more advantageous foothold to expand his territories, or raze the offending business to the ground with a force of Mechaponies.

  • Impatient. The Clockwork King has no toleration for those without use to him and even less for those who oppose him, he has many sore spots for a cunning individual to poke at, but takes equal care in heavily shrouding his feelings until he can explode in fury at a more convenient time.

  • Cunning. As above, Clockwork is a businessman and a master of Time Manipulation. Possibly the most difficult challenge a hero would face would taking down Clockwork and his steadily growing empire whilst attempting to remain on the correct side of the law. It is very possible that Clockwork wrote the laws of Ponykind, and takes enjoyment in halting the progress of problems through loopholes in the law.

  • Arrogant. Clockwork is partly responsible for the creation of life in Equestria and even the universe in general, and he makes sure to remind those who seek to stall him as much as possible. His control over the sands of time is a dangerous weapon in his personal arsenal, and he knows it. Flaunting his godly status and his immunity to death itself, Clockwork is a braggart that is all too keen to demonstrate his power.

  • Vengeful. Crossing the Clockwork King is unwise to even the Celestial sisters, if not Discord himself, infuriating him entirely courts the notion of being removed from the flow of time altogether, either to live eternal life in a state nothing can detect or annihilation of their corporeal being entirely. Clockwork is vengeful and hateful, and those who do drive him to such measures would be wise to realise one fact. He can wait longer than you can, and the Clockwork King is very good at timing...

Strengths/Abilities:

  • Time Manipulation, including the ability to increase, decrease or completely cease the flow of time for himself and a target, if he so wishes.

  • Complete control over Mechapony forces from his fortress located on the Island of Fire and Copper. Mechaponies are automatons completely devoted to the Time god. They possess both magical and aerial capabilities, alongside the ability to reconstruct if dismantled. Clockwork usually sends these as emissaries to places of interest to him under a more intelligent squad leader.

  • Master of Mechanisms. Clockwork is a stickler for Laws and Progress, and it is the latter that allows him to create that which ponykind has barely scored the surface of. His skill at patenting and creating mechanized devices is second to none, as is his ability to sell such progressive items to the highest bidder. With Clockwork, you go big or go home.

Weaknesses:

  • Fiery Temper: Clockwork, for some reason of another, has grown to hate that which tears down his carefully constructed rules, which inevitably includes Life itself. As such, in the company of anything neither mechanical nor mineral will slowly grate on his nerves. Though a careful and strategic character, Clockwork's rage has courted many an unforseen obstruction to his plans, resulting in the Clockwork King having to furiously backpedal in order to stay on top of his oppressors.

  • Prideful. Just so is Clockwork glorifying in his accomplishments, but sometimes his pride clouds his vision so much that he cannot see what is going on around him. Destroying a prized device of his, or claiming his superiority over an individual are good ways of distracting him.

  • Judgemental. To Clockwork, all organics are seen as inferiors beside scant few. Mutual benefit is a word hardly used by Clockwork, whilst an ally who will side with him and not attempt to remove him from power is unheard of. The only respect that Clockwork is willing to grudgingly part with is reserved for the Celestial sisters, Celestia and Luna, and (ironically) his eternal enemy Queb, who is the Guardian of Life. Earning the King's trust is difficult, his respect even harder, especially if you are labelled by him as a 'lesser god'.
