Messages - The Clockwork King

(THUMP WHIRR CLICK, BUMPING THREAD)
23
Clockwork folded his arms behind his back, features showing little in the way of a specific emotion
That, Ms Sparkle, is truly a matter of perspective. Perhaps to yourselves you were less than your best, but there are always those who are willing to see past the outer walls of the body and into the truest soul.
He paces once more, tapping the diamond of his cane against his chin
Yet it does not answer my question. Why build a castle in the first place? Why not simply hover over the shoulder of all and urge them along more destructive paths? He is more than capable of utilizing mere omnipotence to keep an eye on any rational sense in this world, so why build something that restricts himself? Something that puts a blockade between himself and the people? One only builds a wall to keep something in...or keep something out...
Clockwork glares out at the Castle of Chaos, eyes narrowing as he speaks more to himself than Twilight
So what is Chaos personified, he with no rational sense, no allies and without care attempting to protect? Or what is he who is eternal, immortal and impervious to all so scared of that he wants it kept away from him...?

QuoteThe unicorn nodded, and popped over to where he was with an effortless teleport.  Without turning her head or even her horn glowing much, they were isolated privately from the rest of the group.  They had a clear view of the ever-shifting Chaos Castle.  It was currently polka-dotted with kazoos for towers and a giant banana standing in a square juggling monkeys in the middle.  Twilight let her brain regenerate slightly as she turned back to the mechanoid.

"I don't think I've ever thanked you for helping me, so... thank you, Clockwork, for helping me."

Clockwork did not turn from his pondering pose, his eyes fixated on the Castle ahead, but instead issued a small nod
I suppose I should also show my appreciation for your means of tidying up my mind, it was awfully cluttered with four of me roving around, and inefficient. So there is that, but what I must call to attention is why does Discord have a castle? I always knew him a roaming deity, constant movement however erratic it was. What changed? What did the castle use to be?

Clockwork waited impatiently as his plan devolved into a series of unproductive conversations, yet something didn't make sense...
Twilight, a quiet word outside. Preferably with a view of the fortress of fools, if you will?
Clockwork pulled his makeshift cane close to him in preparation for a teleport, something wasn't sitting right in his mind, and he needed a fellow mind to help him figure it out...
26
Clockwork glared after Laserbolt, the pony was obviously about to attempt something stupid, his tone of voice and hard-headedness gave that much away. All they could wish for was something that was not TOO stupid...
Then I suggest we put as much effort into locating these 'back doors' as possible whilst keeping our eyes on the front gate. I would not be the only one to kick themselves should we be caught unawares. Bertram, a diagram of the castle if you will?
Projecting Image.
A 3D rendition of the Chaos Castle appears before them, twisting spires and all. Clockwork points with his cane at various locations.
Calling the front gate the northern face, I propose that Shade, Ap...Abigail and Bane cover the southern wall, Rainbow, Asterian and Bleyd to cover the eastern, Twilight, Chrysteel and Moonlight to take the western and if Laserdolt and Supernova decide to rejoin us they may cover the aerial quarter as spotters. I myself will take the front, being mostly immune to Discord and the fact he will leap at the opportunity to gloat to my face...

Clockwork withdraws into himself at the mention of the Tree
I concur, the Tree is...anathema to me. Being such an extreme of an element I could risk corrupting its workings, for it is neither organic nor synthetic, more tangible magic. Even with little to no powers, I could kill it at a touch and so could Queb. We as Gods do not interfere with the Tree's workings, be it a physical touch or merely being in its presence. Dear Queb could show you the way, but little more.
he tilts his head towards Bane
That is why I will go in, being taken apart is little more than an annoyance for me, and I could radio back if one of my mechaponies remains with you.

Clockwork holds up his hands
This may seem terribly out of character for me, but I must admit these are some clever, if simple, ideas. The only problem with the coin-trail is that it doesn't take a genius to figure out it leads them into harm. The only way I see Greedity following the trail is if it actively leads her out, and coin is somewhat small change for one who is surrounded by 'diamonds'. I offer my plan instead...
He begins to pace once more, hands gesturing as he explains his plan
I am made of non-precious metals, copper, brass and steel, utilitarian at most with little desirables past my suit and coat, and going on the basis that whatever Greedity perceives as priceless to be worthless in reality, then the vice versa must mean I would be an anthropomorphic gold mine in her eyes, yes? If one of the original elements, say Ms Dash, were to deliver me to her, I would be able to gather worthwhile information of methods and means and perhaps even begin converting her back to her charitable self. Then, once an escape is needed, it is a guarantee she will give chase without thought of any traps.
He gives a slight bow, an air of pride blossoming forth
Please, your applause is wholly unnecessary.
29
Clockwork holds up his hands, a gesture of defiance
Gentlemen, you are both completely neglecting the information that whatever Greedity perceives as valuable is worthless in the true world. Diamonds are rocks and vice versa! Just because it has petty value to you does not mean she will show the same interest, no, we will need to think on her terms.
He surveys the landscape for items without much worth
She most likely has hoarded rocks for the time she has been discorded, so there is no bait to be found there. A sword perhaps? Something different, something...unique. Perhaps...
Clockwork blinks
Myself?
30
Clockwork nods at Bane's reasoning, his mind turning to acute calculation
Then it seems Spike will be our initial target, providing he is held within an accessible area. He could be used as leverage in our favor, if I am not mistaken he had feelings for Greedity before her turning? That could help us turn her back to her original element, if not partially.
He turns to stare coldly in the direction of the Chaos Capital, eyes narrowing
Discord will be occupied by...other things, I can count on it.

Clockwork casts an annoyed glance over Laserbolt
Amusing as the thought of the likes of you being squished by the embodiment of Rage is, I must ask you to refrain from putting whatever plan you have cooked up into action. An attack on two fronts would weaken us more than the enemy, we would be divided and easily bounced away without being able to play off each others strengths. Pinkie will come in good time, but right now it is Rarity that commands most of our attention. Go ahead, Ms Sparkle, we are all ears.

With the target's key weakness identified, 503's core weaponry adjusted accordingly. Solar energy collected from the outside world filtered into his weapon systems, the bright blue radiation from the tip of his firing antenna changing to a golden yellow
Irrelevant. Target's weakness identified, preparing to fire.
Crouching into a braced stance and lowering his head, 503 prepared to fire a concentrated burst of sunlight into the enemy.
(Unit 503 uses BRACED STANCE, losing one combat turn in order to prepare to fire)
33
You removed my soul from its protective casing and nearly caused a catastrophe by attempting to summon one of the Elders, I call that a buck up.
Clockwork begins to pace, stroking his chin
No, these next few days will require planning. We must be prepared for the most certain of obstacles whilst not forgetting the rarer. Let us not forget that both Fluttercruel and Angry Pie are on the prowl, and could disrupt our assault on Greedity should either use whatever brains they have. Discord may decide to intervene too, if we are not careful.
He turns to Twilight, a calculating expression on his visage
Ms Sparkle, whatever did happen to your dragon companion? As I understand, dragons can live well over tens of thousands of years even with hibernation not taken into account.

Name:frozen heart
Age: 23
Gender:mare
Species:ice pony
Spoiler: race request • show
pros: can freeze water, can feed off of existing ice
Cons:is weaker in warm climates, is very vulnerable to fire

Inventory:
1 x Food Bag
1 x Water Flask
1 x Sleeping Bag
2 x ice skates

So that would mean you would be weak everywhere saying there's hardly any clouds to filter out the sun, bar a 2 week period when it actually does rain. Ice would begin to melt upon formation and really is a waste of water, a key resource to your survival. Race Request: DECLINED.

Clockwork rolled his optics
Do attempt to keep up Laserbolt, you're lagging a little. For record I am NOT of Gallopfreyan construct, I existed far before them by about two universe cycles. I am not a Time Lord per say, rather the Time Lord. Even to beings such as the Doctor and Master bow to my hand, for age affects any and all. If the concept of opposing forces is true then if Queb is Life, I must be Death. The tranquil, cold end to a warm and boisterous beginning.
38
This.
Once more did the cane shaft crack across the back of Laserbolt's head, before Time itself adjusted his jacket.
Rather good swing, sir.
Clockwork eyed the gifted animatronic device, he could get used to that. In fact, despite the idiotic decision Laser nearly made he could see 'Bertram' being of much use to him. Stroking his fingers through the grassy foliage of Queb's coat in comfort, he turns to Bane.
I have not seen you before. A new member of our group in my absence? Clockwork, by the way, Lord of Time, how do you do? he offers a curt bow before turning to Chrysteel My dear, I was wondering if we could spare time for a...private talk, hm?

Barging protectively in front of Flash Bolt, 503's battle sensor array comes online as energy cells hum into life. An ethereal blue alights the antenna as it enters a defensive stance. The target did not pose a threat at the given time, but decades of war taught 503 that such evidence alone was insufficient. If it would not surrender, it would be destroyed.
Identifying target and listing associated weaknesses. he chimed in monotone, lowering his head in preparation to fire.
(Unit 503 used Observe to determine SHADE'S Strengths and Weaknesses)

Unit 503 nodded, following after Laebenal as they descended. Rotating himself around, 503's antenna alighted as they vanished into the dark, covering the rear in case of ambush.
Leading unit designated as 'Bolt', current known contractor of this expedition. I know little of him, though the book he carries detailing the history of this world will be of continued use. a blip on his sensors told him they were not alone down here, and thus required less time spent in this stairwell. Rotating once more to face forwards, 503 began to move past Laebenal Distress notified from leader, preparing to intercept threat.
