Done with the second round entry after proofreading like three times. That was fun to write, though I gotta say 2000 words is pretty darn short.

But I've always failed to stay within the word limit for my essays and stuff so who am I to say so 

Well it was pretty hard for me. When they gave us three options for the setting, I made it a personal challenge to include all three settings. I made it work in the end. 

Riddle me this, was yours about learning how to teleport?

Nope. Here's a hint though. It was titled "A Hearth's Warming Carol."

There's no such as a perfect writer.  Again, it's all really subjective beyond basic stuff like spelling and grammar.

Possibly your lack of capitalization.

Cheer up guys, not all hope is lost! The writers that made it to the second round were just better than you, it doesn't mean you guys were terrible.

.....I don't know about the others who didn't make it, but when you put it that way it sure doesn't make me feel better.

Yeah, I'm with Sneaks on this one.  Oh well, like I said before, what makes good writing is so subjective that it's impossible to predict whether or not you'll make the cut for something like this.

Also, if anyone needs a very lighthearted G-PG writer for a project, I'd be happy to help too 

Just send me a PM if that's the case for anyone.

Submissions will be accepted until Saturday, July 28, at which time I will close the auditions, and I will announce the finalists soon afterward. If you are chosen, you will be expected to write a story with more specific criteria, which I will give you at the appropriate time.

I look forward to having my inbox flooded with applicants, and I wish you all the best of luck. I encourage everyone to have fun, try their hardest, and remember to proofread their entries.

Excluding the concepts mentioned in rule 2, any and all subject matters are accepted. It does not have to involve ponies, nor does it have to be entirely appropriate for children. I won't show your stories to anyone outside the team, and I won't judge based on whether or not I agree with the themes or opinions presented in the stories. If someone were to write me a fantastic essay on all the different reasons Bloomberg is a blathering idiot, I would accept it without hesitation.

I almost take this as a challenge.. 

Oh, good, it wasn't just me who read that and immediately thought "must...resist....actually....writing such a thing...."
