In the past years, Australia has been a main destination for asylum seekers,
Australia wouldn't let them in because apparently "they may cause issues
to the Australian economy", so they would be kicked off to Christmas Island or
taken back to their country.

According to the Australian government, asylum seekers have been an "threat."
The government claimed that asylum seekers could be "terrorists" or they could cause a
"dramatic rise on the Australian population."

In 2011, the Australian government mentioned that the detention centers were full,
so earlier this year, they decided to kick the asylum seekers out of Australia and
return them back to their countries.
The government says that they return asylum seekers back to their countries
because it's to "prevent the risk of their boat sinking."

In the perspective of the asylum seekers, they have to pay between $5000-$10 000 AUD
to travel to Australia by boat. Not only that, they're all crammed into one spot for around 14 days
until they arrive near Australia. They would be spotted by Australian navy ships and taken back
to their country.

Now what I don't understand is why the Australian government is doing this.
The asylum seekers escape their country because it's either in conflict, war or economic issues,
then Australia is kicking them out back to their countries because "they are a threat" and "safety issues."

For starters, ALL of the asylum seekers make under 2% of the Australian population and NONE
of the asylum seekers were "terrorists" nor were they armed with ANY weapon
and the poor asylum seekers work hard to pay off those expensive travel prices.
But what does Australia do? "Oh yeah, kick them out, keep 'em out."

In the Australian national anthem, it says:
"For those who've come across the seas, We've boundless plains to share."
This is absolute neglect, Australia is doing the complete opposite of this.

I think Australia kicks out asylum seekers because of racism, but they try cover it up with
excuses like, "they are a threat to our economy."

Good job Australia, very....VERY supportive...         :l

The government needs the money anyway. America is still trillions of dollars in debt. As long as I know my tax money is going to good use, I don't care how much I need to pay.

Solar energy is a joke. Too expensive for too little gain.Th

Wind energy is extremely cheap, but not efficient enough to power entire cities (unless you want every remaining free acre of land to be covered in windmills...)

Yeah, America may need it, but Australia doesn't need carbon tax.
The Australian government earns a lot of its income from overseas exports and trades.
There has to be some other environmental scheme.
If solar power and wind power won't work out, then Australia should try hydro power.
It's one of the most efficient techniques for generating electricity.
Some statistics:

The hydroelectricity efficiency is far better than that of other alternative energy sources,
a typical, modern hydroelectric plant produces at a 90% efficiency rate 24 hours a day, completely unmonitored.
Wind power has only about a 30% efficiency rate (this number varies widely each year,
from 20% to 34% and everywhere in between).
While the efficiency rating of solar power is still on the rise thanks to advances in technology,
it has only a 40% efficiency rating with the latest technology.

I'm sorta on the fence about the carbon tax. Didn't Gillard say when she came into power that it wouldn't be implemented?  o.O

Well actually, Julia Gillard encouraged the carbon tax to be implemented.
Also, the carbon tax was already commenced on 1st of July,
after the Carbon Tax legislation was passed through parliament.  :I

Though I like several cars my personal favorite of all time is the Lamborghini.

Thought I will never drive one it will remain as a dream.

It doesn't have to remain a dream if you get the right career. Careers like medicine, law or accounting can get you cash in no time.

Also, thanks!  ^-^

Driver: You Are the Wheelman, is a 1999 action driving video game developed by Reflections Interactive (now known as Ubisoft Reflections)
John Tanner, an NYPD detective has gone undercover due to his unmatched driving skills. His mission is to gain the confidence of a crime syndicate's bosses by performing increasingly difficult driving missions.

Driver 2: Driver 2 expands on Driver's 3-D, free-roam structure, as well as adding the ability of the character, Tanner, to step out of his car to explore on foot and commandeer other vehicles in the game's open world environments.
Missions in the game are generally vehicle-oriented, and involve trailing witnesses, ramming cars and escaping from gangsters or cops. A cutscene is shown prior to almost every mission to help advance the storyline, and thus the game plays rather like a Hollywood-style car chase movie.

Driv3r: FBI agent Tanner, along with partner Tobias Jones, are infiltrating a crime ring known as South Beach, which specializes in stolen vehicles around Florida. A ruthless woman named Calita runs the Crime Ring, and there is a weapons specialist Lomaz, and Bad Hand. Tanner convinces them to give him a shot to work for them. Once he is accepted by the group, Tanner begins conducting various jobs for them, in pursuit of a total of 40 stolen high-performance vehicles.

Driver San Francisco: After the shootings in Istanbul, Jericho eluded security and escaped from the Istanbul hospital, fleeing from Turkey and escaping back to the U.S. After 6 months of searching him, Tanner and Jones managed to find him in San Francisco, where they arrested him, and he is currently awaiting trial.

friendly reminder to everyone, please dont post anything that would be against the rules in here

on topic:
(1) This is an easy way to increase gov. income that the everyday worker likes because they arent getting taxed directly and it is helping the environment, though since the companies are paying more the people who purchase the produces will most likely be paying more

another system similar to this is that companies can buy carbon credit from the government that allows them to produce so much carbon before purchasing they have to purchase more credit, sometimes the government could only distribute a limited number of credit so the price for them could rise dramatically (they could also be traded company to company)

(2) With the solar panels or wind turbines remember that they cost a bit of money to build and dont give you the best power/price

2 objections here;

(1) It is good in the governments perspective but I don't really see how it's supposed to help the environment nor do I see it helping the economy. It basically just puts more stress on people trying to budget and not only that, people in financial issues, ESPECIALLY after the severe floods that occurred in January 2011, there are families STILL trying to recover.

(2) I do agree with that, but there are other countries which have success with using solar and wind power and money shouldn't be an issue either. Australia is one of the biggest suppliers of major resources in the world exporting goods such as coal and iron. The government earns big income from this.

The Retirement Home / Carbon Tax

Possibly one of the most ironic schemes brought up by the Australian Labor Party, in my opinion.

What is Carbon Tax?
Carbon Tax is basically where the government increases taxes for carbon-related products; i.e. electricity power usage.
The carbon tax will add an additional price to the normal taxes and it will keep rising until 2015, when the government will shift to a trading scheme that will let the market set the cost.

What is the purpose of Carbon Tax?
The Carbon Tax is supposed to "prevent people from utilizing excessive power" "to help protect the environment" and to "boost the Australian economy" and the government says that "by polluting the environment, you have to pay the price."

From all of this, I think the Carbon Tax plan is dodgy and I find it all unnecessary.
They say that "it's going to prevent pollution" and "the money will be used to help households."
If you want to help the environment and be energy efficient, then why not install solar panels and build wind mills instead of adding these Carbon Taxes, or at least some other scheme that doesn't involve ridiculous taxes?
Honestly, I think these are all excuses from the government to make profits.
