Pony Off-Topic Archive / Simplistic Cosplays

So I got bit a cosplay bug when I attended my first con . It was so much fun coming up with the costume (Best Princess Luna)and having people react to it and everything.

But it has me wondering. Do cosplays have to be big projects? Cause I've come across a few items in my closet that when thrown together, is almost a complete costume (albeit a simple one.). Example, I just needed to whip together a CMC cape, and I have a great Applebloom costume, and short of the cutie mark, I've got an Octavia one too (heck, I've even got an extra cello that can take a few knocks reminds me i need to practice...

Could I make multiple simplistic cosplay 'outfits' where the individual pieces could be worn everyday (And no, I don't care if it makes no sense why, as a cellist, I have a purple treble cleft on my shirt thank you very much)? Poking around the cosplay world, I see nothing but these huge projects. Don't get me wrong, I love my Luna costume, but for a longer con, it can get uncomfortable (and dirty, almost dropped a pizza on the top last month). Considering the nature of ponies especially, is it wrong for me to want to come up with more simplistic, more comfortable, and/or more everyday costumes and the devil being in the details (unicorn horns, or pegasi wings, or dying my hair to match, and assorted accessories depending on the pony).

I'm Music, a fem brony that joined right before S3. I brony-on with my brother, and drive his GF nuts with the fandom 
A casual gamer, fantasy junkie, and reluctant fangirl i tried really hard to avoid descending to that level. , I have no favorite among the ponies in general, but Luna is best princess, and am reserving judgment on Twilicorn and EQ Girls until further date. I mostly stick to pony fanfics and art, but i get music from my brother, so it works out.

I really really wish I could art. I've got a DA account and have some random vectors atm, but I want to be able to actually replicate what's in my imagination somewhat for others to see. I also write stories, but for the same reason as the art, they don't get produced into a physical format (I'm way to self-conscience, let's blame it on the social anxiety and I'll promise to start practicing both)

I'm a non-traditional college student interested in Earth Sciences, but have no idea on anything more specific. I read, do dance, have currently two main pony OCs, so-on-and-so-forth, [move][shadow=orange,left][glow=red,2,300]and look at this crazy fun effect!![/glow][/shadow][/move]_{it's not working quite right, should have probably left with the default color... I wonder if I can double up effects? the shadow isn't showing for some reason}

Anyways... hi. I tend to lurk, but don't mind to chat and am looking forward to this whole Legends of Equestria thing.
