I don't know for sure, but I think it's because older ponies can see him in mirrors, those and cameras. her mane was harshly tugged and her head jerked to the side for a moment Ow, hey! That's mean Outcast! she yelled looking to her side in aggravation before her expression drops along with her head I'm sorry, please don't be mad at me

Upon entering the room her jaw drops in surprise and excitement. Wow! This room is cool! she exclaimed, running over to the bed and bouncing on it a couple of times. Thank you so much!

It's fine, I mean I miss them and all, but they've been missing for a while... she froze up for a moment with watery eyes, but smiled as the unseen specter wiped her tears away I've gotten pretty used to them not being around, besides, I have Outcast to watch over me. she continued to follow Flame to the room

She followed Flame upstairs to the room I'm trying to find my parents. We were supposed to go camping but we got separated when we decided to check out this old abandoned building. That was about 3 months ago

Well, I'm only 9, but I don't know how old Outcast is. He doesn't talk much, he kinda just lurks she explained, looking to her side where Outcast was silently watching them from. You're weird... she say to Outcast before giving her attention back to Flame Anyway, thanks for letting me stay! she leaped over to Flame and hugged one of his hooves.

His name is Outcast, he doesn't have wings, but he can fly and... her eyes wander down to the floor where a small spider was scurrying toward her. It was only a few inches away before it randomly gets flattened by seemingly nothing.
She looked back to Flame and smiled  He doesn't like spiders
Harmony returned with 3 beverages, 2 sodas and 1 juice Here we are. Sorry I took so long, one of the cups just flew off of the counter so I had to do a quick clean up

Cherry! I'm an adventurer! said the small red earth pony. She didn't look any older than 9. She had bright green eyes and brown hair, her cutiemark consisted of an orange plastic sword stuck inside of a ripe red cherry.
This is my friend, he keeps me safe on my adventures she said, pointing at the area to her right.
The "imaginary" spectar watched quietly, assuming he wouldn't be seen.
