Original Characters / Opinions on Non Pony characters.

I mean beings like Dragons, Gryphons, Changelings and the like. What is the general stance on using these creatures in RP's? I've never seen them used personally.

Original Characters / Rhythm Shuffle

Hey there, I've (literally) just thought of a OC to use for Rping, constructive criticism welcome and any ideas on how to improve him are too.
Full Name: Rhythm Shuffle
Age: 19
Race: Pegasus
Location: Ponyville
Likes: Tap Dancing, Cake, chocolate, cookies, pasta and fizzy pop.
Dislikes: Has Claustrophobia (the fear of small or in-closed spaces), also does not like thunderstorms. Or dark chocolate due to how bitter it is.
Backstory: Born and raised in Cloudsdale like many other pegasi, he quickly discovered that if he stomped his hooves on hard surfaces it would make a noise, unlike when he walked on the clouds outside. Soon this discovery led him to alternating his hoof-beats on the kitchen floor to see what it would sound like, after watching his son for a while Rhythm's dad suggested he try and make a tune out of his taps and not long after that, viola! one cutie mark! Though his parents were initially concerned about his classmates reaction to his dancing, they were actually very supportive and clapped (or clopped) to the beat his four hooves made. Before attending highschool he and his parents moved to Ponyville where his tap dancing still got him friends, even though the usual bullies that plague every school said that it was "unnatural" for a Pegasus to be able to dance; Rhythm paid them no attention and carried on being "unnatural". After finishing school, moved out of his parents house, Rhythm, a few days after moving to Ponyville finds a dance studio, after a week of dancing on his own an expert, who goes by the name "Quick Step" realizes his talent and trains him, Quick Step then gets him stage shows to preform in, and maybe after a few with no luck (we can't all be successful all the time and neither can ponies) one pony, who is the manager of The Pony Dance Seria (pronounced C-air-a) in , saw him training with Quick Step and offered to put him in one of his shows as the main act, with Quick Step being his manager; soon ponies from all of Equestria heard of this tap-dancing Pegasus, with Rhythm Shuffle even getting to preform a dance routine in front of The Royal Sisters.
