Original Characters / Our OCs

We decided to add our OCs over here. We have read some guides and are trying to make good OCs, so we would love some comments, good or bad.
Solar Storm
Gender: Mare
Age: 16
Species: Unicorn
Looks: Shimmering pale gold curls, muted yellow-gold coat, orange eyes it almost hurts to look at
Cutie Mark: A star like it appears in the sky
Talent: Magic, mostly concerning stars
Personality: Firey, short-tempered, tries to get the spotlight whenever she can, moderate OCD, very passionate about trying to get into Princess Celestia's Royal Academy for Gifted Unicorns, subject to peer pressure, is still finding out who she is and wants to be
Biography: Solar Storm is the oldest of three sisters, and the most easily agitated. She was greatly afraid of dark when she was young, seeing "monsters" even into her teen years. One day she was so frightened she created a small star that "scared the monsters away", earning her cutie mark. Solar also possessed a sort of jealousy of her youngest sister, who was an earth pony. Solar hated her fragile unicorn body and longed for something stronger. She started exercising often and, without realizing it, grew to love it more than anything else. All her unicorn friends were excellent at magic, and somewhat bullied her into more studying, forcing her to exercise less. She became moody at everypony, then decided to run away to Canterlot, where she applied for Princess Celestia's Royal Academy for Gifted Unicorns when she was fourteen. Celestia secretly watched Solar's test, and was impressed by her skills. She had a brief thought of making Solar her personal student, but Solar lacked what Twilight had, dedication and love for spells. The rejection hurt Solar, but she was determined to get in. Her studying matched Twilight's, and the want to be accepted urged her soul foreward. She takes the test every year, hoping to be accepted, but her dedication to her magic must rise before she can be accepted.
Notes: Solar is not as talented as Twilight in overall magic, but rather better in star-related magic. Solar also wrongly believes she must be obsessed with magic, although she love physical activities better.
We will post more when we have a chance, but we cannot at the moment. Once again, we appreciate any and all critique, as we wish to be better.

GREETINGS FAI- sorry! We mean, greetings fair subjects. We have traveled what you call the "interweb" looking for somewhere where we could see what other ponies think of things, and we landed here. Huzzah! We do hope that perhaps we could become aquatinance or, as we are also very fond of, friends. Twilight Sparkle studies friendship, and Sister sometimes lets me read her letters. It is all very fun, but we believe true friends shall DOUBLE THE FUN!
