There doesn't seem to be any side-effect either, you are definitely jumping a 'little' higher, you think. Then you realize your eyes have just been raised a couple inches.

I wish for an art table, perfectly adorned with several fountain pens, plenty of ink and beautiful pearly paper. And I'd like it delivered to my location, please.

Sadly such a wish has be disallowed by grand decree from the wish-granter's guild. Due to a depressing previous incident where a child wished for 'the wish' and the universe was inverted and converted into it's current state. Because of the dangers of such a wish this brown paper notice has been sent to you to beg and implore that you 'not wish' as all wishes come with their own price and such will your wish. But they beg you have a good day and to watch you feet on the way to the super-market next Thursday, because a boy has wished a swarm of slippery newts randomly and 'without general warning' appear on the surface of ponyville.

- Your's kindly the wish-granter's guild.

(Hehehe)

Well, with this burned hoof of mine I attempt to craft you an orb of 'perfect' summoning. Unfortunately, as we all know, perfection is not something that can exist in material reality. Sadly, somehow I was successful and you DO now have a perfect summoning orb, it . . . just cannot be activated or affected by any known means.

After a couple of fruitless hours, we give up attempting to conjure the summoning orb back into known reality. As I'm forced to give up and tend to my now blistered hoof, as it is in the throes of horrible agony.

I really do hope that a great professional team of doctors scientists or even magicians might come upon me in my time of woe and assist me with this painful burn I seem to have inflicted upon myself. I might even go as far as to say: I wish it were so.

So began your life as an apprentice. From what you've heard being an apprentice isn't that bad; sure it takes alot of work and all that but you come through it clean and learn a good deal about yourself and your craft.

This was not the case for you, from the very beginning Celestia was entirely too busy to deal with you; the few moments of time she was able to spend with you dealt with existential subjects not even an elder twenty times your age would understand. In the end your day degenerated into doing whatever you wanted, eating freely from the kitchen supply and saying whatever you thought you felt, without being punished.

In the end Celestia was forced to admit her own negligence and it's affect on you, you were given a small stipend to live off of. Enough to keep your, now, ample self satiated and keep a small home which you never need worry lose. But the great luxurious life you knew in the castle is gone and you can't help but remember those days. In time your mind festered and somehow you came to blame everything on Celestia. This home was not enough, nothing was enough, and so ponies avoided you and you became known as that 'witch near buck-stream' and ponies stayed away from you.

In the end it was a sad funeral but at least Celestia came, and she even shed a few tears for her 'neglected' pupil.

If someone were to summon up a fancy saddle and some sturdy travel garments, that would be much appreciated. How about you wish-granter? Could you do this for me?

Yes, you became an alicorn. And at first you thought it all daffodils and roses. Magic and flight, dancing, prancing, laughing, singing and pure delight. But then it came upon you. That great workload of the heavens. "Has one never asked why there are so few alicorns?" Scoffed a voice from above. "Well, let me explain it to you."

"Every-pony and any-pony may become an alicorn. ANY PONY but the price is your free will. From hence on you work for the heavens and the earth and all the rest of the universe. You do the bidding of the universe and the slow will that turns all things.  No longer may you think and no longer may you understand individual thought. From here out you are an extension of the universe."

So it was stated and so it became. You are now an Alicorn.

I could really go for some cranberry juice and sparkling water, but I WISH I had a beautiful fountain filled with just such a substance in my room, on my own mountain, in my beautiful marble estate.
