I need clarification on something. This may possibly be a long discussion.

Internet forums. Forums in general.

You're allowed to have fun on them... aren't you?

It all depends on the forum/board as well as what kind of fun you're looking to have.
What brings up the question, if I may ask?

I see... hmm... maybe I did do something foolish. Maybe.

You see... I like to keep things fresh for the internet forums I go to. I like to change my avatar for the forums I visit every six months. I do it in May and November.

My most recent avatar, the one I have now, reflects my current video game addiction. The Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series.

I was just trying to have fun. To sort of "announce" my avatar change... I wanted to mess around a little.

So basically... what I did... was I sort of "RP'd" as Black Frost (the Persona I am now using as my avatar) and myself in just a silly conversation.

I wasn't doing it to be annoying or anything. I was just trying to have fun.

Yet... the place I did this in... exploded in rage I've never seen before.

I was just trying to have fun. Did I really do something wrong here?

          Well, in my own experience, any forum or board you go to on the internet has this kind of (I hate using this word to describe it) 'culture' to it. They have their own dialect, way of acting, etc. Every place is different and will react differently given your actions.
It really depends on if what you did would be acceptable within the parameters of what is normally tolerated in that forum. It could be that you simply acted in a way which the community deemed unacceptable and reacted to it.

Well, I can imagine that what you did would have been perfectly acceptable in other places. I don't know where exactly you did this, so I'd have to assume that the forum you were in isn't fond of role-playing.

Like I said earlier, everywhere you go will be different. I'm sure there are many places which would have been completely fine with your role-playing.

It just sounds like you brought unwelcome content to the wrong forum.

That's the thing though...

There is a role-playing area for the forum in question.

Though... I admit that the place I posted it in wasn't the roleplaying area but just a random thread that was mostly full of random posts anyway.

That's not all either... I've seen other users do something similar to what I did. They roleplayed in the same thread/topic that I posted it in.

This just seems... contradictory. As well as ridiculous.

Though... I could be wrong here... again...

I guess those people did not like the way you were roleplaying. Tough beans, can't really say much else.

This is slowly starting to become my favorite MLP:FiM forum. If this hasn't happened already.
