The main screens all threw out the Faction Cities come to life with a sound that isn't annoying but gets everyponies attention all the same. It starts out with a Big Announcement opening. Then on it appears what seams to be an Alicorn female program. She begins to speak to everypony.
"[glow=silver,4,600]Hello Everypony and Program. This is Grid Admin Salia speaking. As you all are well aware. Today starts the first day of the 'Rule 'The Grid' Tournament'. I will be the main overseer for this tournament. The Hologram displays will show the faction's team captains and rules for the tournament. To join the tournament you just need to find and sign up with either captain. One restriction though. You can only sign up with a captain if you are a part of that faction. Faction ISO leader, Kevin Flynn, has already given the ruler ship codes for the grid over to me. I will be in charge of the grid for as long as the tournament goes on.[/glow]" says an Alicorn in a white jumpsuit with glowing gold stripes and a bar code like cutie mark covering her cutie mark. She also seams to be a class 10 user with a very high anti-viral defense.
"[glow=silver,4,600]Activation of the blank slate and leveling programs has been authorized. Also there are now safe zones for each faction all over the grid. If you happen to be defeated by any means you will be sent to one of these safe zones. The first event in this tournament is the Classical 'Light Cycle Challenge'! Talk to your faction's team captains if you wish to join or for more details about the event. During events the safe zones will be on lock down. Meaning if you are defeated, you will be stuck in the safe zone until the event is over and a winning team is decided. Also Once you sign up for the tournament, you must take part in all future events.[/glow]" she says in a way to get the programs and users of the grid excited about the upcoming tournament.

One a mail from your team captain stating it is time for you to head to the area for a tournament event. Two a quest or mission that has very nice rewards from new items to upgrades and leveling codes. Plus other things. Three is a mail stating weather you have or have not been removed from future events based on actions you yourself are very well aware of. on this third one if there seams to have been an error send me a P-Mail and I will do my very best to figure out the misunderstanding and get things straitened out. For all of you users and programs that are coming onto The grid for the first time the P-Mail should be there as soon as you have either gotten your ID Disk or it has been registered.[/glow]" She continues explaining.
"[glow=silver,4,600]Now all that remains is for me to say have a fun time and remember 'Friendship is The Grid'. This is your Grid Admin Salia signing off.[/glow]" As she finishes speaking the screens that hava been playing the announcement start to show the rules and Faction's Team Captains, Tron [ISO] and Rinzler [BIOS]. ((This is how to activate your ID Disks or How to acquire them.))

Madoka had been on the Grid for a couple days now, and was no closer to finding the rest of her Soul Gem. Upon  her entrance into the Grid, it had fractured into 12 pieces, with 11 of them scattering across the Grid. The single fragment that had been left behind limited her powers to its minimum, which is to say, she was only able to heal herself and cast a simple force spell. It was at that moment that the PA system flared to life with an announcement.

After the announcement, Madoka quickly searched the room looking from Tron, she finally spotted him at the east corner of the room, right next to a white pillar of energy. She quickly walked over to him. [glow=purple,2,300]"Excuse me, Tron, but could you explain what I have to do?"[/glow]

Tron nodded, "Of course, I'm always happy to help a new User get acquainted with the system. The computer next to me has a slot just under the screen, and under that, a keypad. You should have an ID Card with you."

Madoka shook her head, [glow=purple,2,300]"I don't think I have one."[/glow]

"Didn't you have any personal items with you when you came onto the Grid?"

[glow=purple,2,300]"Only my Soul Gem."[/glow]

"Please pull it out for me."

Madoka shifted to her battle form, causing her Soul Gem to appear, clasped around her neck. She lifted it over her head and held it up for Tron to see. Tron leaned over, scrutinizing it from every angle.

"Just as I expected, your Soul Gem has the properties of an ID Card. Just place it in the slot."

Madoka nodded, placing the Gem into the slot. It promptly vanished with a flash of light.

"Now, you should have some sort of personal ID code as well. Just use the keypad to type it in."

Madoka tapped in her code, '7565', into the keypad. Another flash of light briefly blinded her, as her new ID Disk appeared in front of her:



Tron observed her as she picked up the disk and examined it, taking note that her Soul Gem was now powering the disk. "That disk will record everything you learn, and can be augmented with more fragments of your Soul Gem. However, the effects that your augmentations will not take effect until you sync your disk with yourself. To sync your disk, just attach it to the holder where your cutie mark would be."

Madoka looked at her flank, and for the first time noticed the strange bump, obviously meant for holding a disk where her cutie mark was supposed to be. She put the disk in place, and immediately felt the effects of the disk syncing with her. She felt a black, skin-tight suit stitch itself onto her body. Soft pink circuitry lights slowly illuminated on her suit. On her flank, her cutie mark became visible, though it was simply the circuitry lights tracing the silhouette of her cutie mark

Madoka noticed one other thing as her disk was syncing. Her battle form usually transformed her into an alicorn, this time however, she didn't. Once the disk finished syncing, she realized why. She hadn't transformed into her alicorn form because she only had a fragment of her Soul Gem.

With the sync complete, Tron gazed at the filly, reading her like a book. "You'll find the fragments of your Soul Gem as you proceed through the Grid. Maybe even some of the quests you're given will require you to find fragments." He pulled out a short, staff-like object, handing it to her. "Her's your vehicle staff, you'll be able to use it for all the vehicle related quests. That includes Light Cycles, and Light Jets. You'll need to visit the hanger to pilot anything bigger than a personal craft. Good luck."

With that, Tron activated the teleporter and left in a flash of light.

((I hope its alright to have two moves, since the way you set up the battle system is similar to how the Pokemon battle system is laid out...))

After Salia message Jericho made his way to the Room wich the "Pillar" was located after a while he finds him and with curiosity he gets near him.

[glow=black,2,300]Ok...[/glow] Inserts the disk suddenly his plot flashes allowing him to gain memories of how the system work and his cutie mark appears again together with the new info [glow=black,2,300]I was worried for a second...[/glow]

[glow=blue,2,300]Now you have access to your abilities and personal vehicles... if you want something bigger you can head towards the hangar ok? And... Good Luck Jericho... [/glow] Tron teleports away

Madoka pulls her ID disk off and takes a look at the P-Mail. After scanning it for a bit, she returns it to its place on her flank.

"Alright, gotta find an off grid light cycle. Shouldn't be too hard"

Jericho heards a beeping and after a while realises that he has a p-mail

((Ok yall give me some time before the next post because I am in dire need of getting y'all's character sheets made.))

It had taken some searching, but Madoka was eventually able to find an off grid Light Cycle. As she began to scan the vehicle, she noticed a glint of light just 50 feet away from the Cycle. A glint of pink light.

No, it can't be. This close to where I first entered?

She walked over to the spot that she saw the light. On the ground, directly in front of her, was a small fragment of her Soul Gem! She picked it up, and pulled out her ID Disk, bringing the two items close together, allowing the two fragments to merge together, powering up her disk. After reattaching the disk, Madoka felt a surge of energy as she shifted into her battle form. Her jumpsuit's colors reversed with the base color becoming pink and the circuitry lines becoming black. Her strength was also increased, now rivaling that of Applejack. Deciding to test her abilities, she focused on a rock and made a pushing motion towards it. The rock was violently thrown a good 100 feet. Next she attempted her elemental magic, concentrating on the rock bursting into flames. Of course, nothing happened; she still didn't have her horn. Reverting back into her normal form, Madoka went back to the Light Cycle and finished scanning it.

After searching for the cycle Jericho decided that it was time to either, get one and hit the books about this "Grid" or look for those "Faction" leaders, deciding for the first he needed to get to the hangar

[glow=black,2,300]Ok... Im going to need info... lets see... Looking into his map Ok... Im pretty far away but I think I can get there fast...[/glow] After a while of pointless walk Jericho was able to find some information about the factions and their leaders

[glow=black,2,300]After getting a vehicle I will pay a visit to both of them, I have to play my role and help the develop of this place...[/glow]

Getting to the hangar was fairly easy, when everything is neon colored makes it easier to spot, As Jericho enters he notices a giant Aircraft hovering on a platform

[glow=purple,2,300]Yes, no problem![/glow] Doing some inputs into the screen a robo arm gets near the Cycle and changes its color.

With this Jericho starts the Cycle and leaves the hangar towards the city

The all-too familiar feeling of dissolving into the Grid... He felt weightless and free, yet the sensation still alarmed him.

That was weeks ago. Starfall was standing atop a tower in the Grid's city, looking down over the buildings and ponies, both program and user, alike. He breathed deeply, [glow=skyblue,2,300]"All is at peace. Everything is in place."[/glow] He stepped onto the sky-scrapper's railing and jumped off the edge. The wind whipped past his face and his cloak fluttered behind him. He snapped open a cylinder and held in out in front of him, forming a parachute-like device. He glided down to the city-scape and landed on all fours. He looked back up at the tower he had leaped from, [glow=skyblue,2,300]"Not bad... Now to get back to Salia."[/glow]

He began to head towards the city's core to meet his mentor. He had been out of contact with her for some time now, and he needed to give her the all clear for the tournament's continuation. Whatever would transpire, would transpire...

moonlight saw a off grid light cycle and ran up to it hurray now i can finish my task she then scans it.

Madoka took out her light baton, pointing at the light cycle.



The light baton scans it and absorbs it. Madoka then uses the light baton to summon it back out and rides to the hanger. As she approaches, she notices another cycle leaving. She adjusts her course and draws up along side him. She hails him over the radio.

"Hey, are you a program?"

((Puynsi, I'm talking to you))

;Jericho wich was focused on getting as fast as he could to the city overheard the message on the radio and responded;

[glow=black,2,300]No, Im a user, and Im pretty sure you are as well since nopony here cares about an stranger... right?[/glow] Ask while leaving out a little laugh

[glow=black,2,300]Right now Im headed towards the city and gather some information about these "factions" and how the city works... If you are interested, you are welcomed to join... names Jericho by the way.[/glow]

"Madoka, pleased to meet you! And yes, I think I will join you, I'm just as new here as you."

[glow=black,2,300]Ok, then lets met at the city gate, any more in-depth argument should be done face to face... you never know whos listening... Jericho out.[/glow] With this Jericho calls the radio off and speeds up while tunning up some music, good for a long road trip.

Madoka revved her light cycle, increasing her speed, following the User who identified himself as Jericho. It wasn't long before the city gates came into view, the I/O Tower looming above the city. She saw Jericho slowing to a stop, so she stopped alongside him.

;Jericho was still listening to his music when saw Madokas Light Cycle getting near;

As he gets down of the Cycle he takes off his helmet and throws it into the cycle
[glow=black,2,300]Well, well, well... You are indeed a sore sight for this eyes... what brought you to this... "Grid"? Im here as a.... "Tester"[/glow]

Madoka gets off her lyght cycle, considering how much she should tell him. Should she tell him everything? About the Magi? Their mission? Finally making up her mind she said.

"Well, if you want to know how I got here, I might as well tell you about what exactly I am. Out in the real world, I'm what is known as a 'Magi'. A sort of magically gifted pony, in my case, a magically gifted earth pony. The only reason I'm magically gifted, however, is because I, like all other Magi, have created a contract with a creature known as Kyubey. He granted me one wish, and in exchange, a Soul Gem was created from my very soul. Magi are also duty bound to fight Night Mares. Thats how I got here. I was chasing a Night Mare when she used some sort of spell to bring it and myself to the Grid. In the process, my Soul Gem was fractured into 12 pieces, all scattered across the Grid except for two pieces. The Night Mare is also somewhere on the Grid, doing who knows what, but until I get all the fragments of my Soul Gem, I won't stand a chance against it. Sorry for rambling like that..."

Madoka felt a profound sense of weightlessness, as if a great weight had been lifted off her back.

There is a flash near to Madoka and Jericho. appearing as if she was there already is the Alicorn from the message.
the Alicorn looks to them and says, "[glow=darkblue,2,300]Congratulations on completing the mission. I believe you have already gotten your rewards?[/glow]"

It did not take too long on hoof, but Asterian made it back to the city core. He looked around to make sure nopony was looking around at him. He smiled briefly before he activated his Cloaking. Within an instant, he Vanished from the visible spectrum. He walked forward, across the busy street and into the tower Unseen.

He entered the elevator and proceeded to the top floor. As soon as the doors shut, he dropped the cloaking completely, reappearing to be just as whole and visible as before. [glow=skyblue,2,300]"I just hope that Salia is here,"[/glow] he sighed to himself.

Salia Nods to them, "[glow=darkblue,2,300]Your right I am not here for a mission. I am here to see how the users of the grid are doing. By the looks of things you have started to get the idea of how the grid works. Also I am here because of another reason. there have been attacks on programs and users by an unknown program. i don't want to raise alarms because of the tournament but somepony is trying to take out their competition. that last mission had a secondary purpose for me. It allows me to find those capable of [/glow]cross interaction[glow=darkblue,2,300]. Cross interaction is a way of taping into the user world from within the grid. It is something new that the ISOs have discovered. Have you wandered why certain abilities from the user world can still function here? Take Madoka for example her user power is now also her ID Disk. Users have it easy because they can access this power at will. Programs have to be built with the function in them. and it is a program with a very dangerous user power that i speak of. I come bringing a warning. we admins can't find or defeat this program. it's user ability allows it to derez another program or user and they do not come back. please be careful. Now sense I am here. Have a look at these. It is your next task. Please follow the direction to the letter. all of those who have not completed the previous task can't get them.[/glow]"

Madoka smiles, happy to have found a friend in this unfamiliar place. Her face darkens, though, as she considers what Salia said.

'A program with a very dangerous User power huh? I wonder...?'

"What sort of power are you talking about? Some sort of magical ability?"

Madoka recoils in shock. Was it possible that the Night Mare was already taking its victims?

"I think I have an idea of what it is. I believe that its a creature called a Night Mare. I was chasing one that resembled the Programs of the Grid when I came here. They usually hide within a distorted space called a Labyrinth. Whatever you do, don't attempt to confront it, only Magi such as myself will have a chance of taking it down!"

Jericho frowns towards Madoka

[glow=black,2,300]What part of "Help you `till the very end" you dont understand? Now we are in this together, as annoying that it can sound...
Plus... if she already beated you and scattered your power, there is no way that you cant beat it in your current state...[/glow]

Madoka raised her eyebrow

"I didn't say I wouldn't welcome help, or that I was ready to face it yet. What I said was 'whatever you do, don't attempt to confront it, only Magi such as myself will have a chance of taking it down'. What I meant by that, is that nopony is strong enough to take down a Night Mare on their own, Magi are the only ones who stand a chance on their own. A slim chance, I admit, but a chance none the less. And I am grateful that you want to help, and readily accept it."

Salia looks to them and says, "[glow=midnightblue,2,300]We have found out there is a program type that can also face this program. Have you ever heard of hacker type programs? They have the ability to copy the powers of other programs and some user abilities. We have in our possession a program that survived an attack by this program. that is how we know of its existence. The program we have is a hacker type program. It was able to copy the other program's ability. We are having the programs copied ability analyzed for making an ability to counter it. of course sense it is in the experimental stage, we are limiting it to the top 5 winners of the tournament and admins only. Have you two chosen a faction yet?[/glow]"

Madoka frowns

"I've decided which one I want to be apart of, but not which one I need to be apart of."

Jericho laughts

[glow=black,2,300]I- WE were actually going to look for some information about this... "factions" when you decided to drop your burden onto us... but to answer your question, No Im not within any Faction.

But Im wondering... thats the objective of this tournament? Gathering powerful enough subjects to create the ultimate weapon? Isnt that a little bit reckless?[/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]"I believe I can help with that."[/glow]

Madoka's eyes shrank at the sound of the voice. "Kyubey? What are you doing here? How did you get here?"

The white cat-like creature jumped out of his hiding spot in the shadows.


[glow=red,2,300]"Don't you know Madoka? I can go anywhere, and I'm always near a Magi to offer advice. Besides, you'll need some Grief Seeds eventually anyway. Anyway, you said that you needed to find powerful programs and such to combat the Night Mare? I can help with that."[/glow]

"[glow=midnightblue,2,300]The tournament is to decide which faction rules the grid till the next tournament. The 5 strongest will lead their faction to victory in this tournament. I used the p-mail system to find the ones that can stop that program till we can create the counter program for it.[/glow]" Salia says to Jericho.

"[glow=midnightblue,2,300]Now the first of the two factions is the BIOS or original programs of the grid. They do not like change at all and want the grid to remain the same as old. Their leader Clu wants to make the perfect system. They are not very fond of users. there are a few users who wish to help them.
Now the second of the two factions is the ISO or evolving programs of the grid. They only wish to better understand why they have come to be and learn, much like the CMC did, their special purpose. There leader is a user named Flynn. His two seconds in command are his son, Sam, and Sam's wife, Quorra. As you can tell the ISO faction is very user friendly. There are many users in this faction.
Both factions, however, seem to be getting hit by this program. So I can safely say it is not on a faction or we could have an all out grid war on our hooves. If a grid war happens I will have to do the unthinkable and Flynn and I do not want or need that to happen.
Also Madoka, the program we had gained after its run in with this Night Mare, as you call it, had this on them. Do you know what it is?[/glow]" Salia holds out one of the shards from Madoka's soul gem. It is pulsing with her ID disk and seems to have a power hidden in it.

Madoka's eyes widen as she takes the SG Fragment from Salia. Kyubey just stares, a neutral expression on his face, but he was using his telepathy to yell at Madoka.

'Y-yes?'

[glow=red,2,300]'Madoka, this is bad! Do you have any idea what would happen if the Night Mare got hold of even one fragment of your Soul Gem?!? It could corrupt you, and turn you into one of them!'[/glow]

'I know, I know, I'm searching for them as quickly as I can!'

[glow=red,2,300]'Well then, I suppose I got here just in time then.'[/glow]

Kyubey, not wanting to waste anymore time turned to Salia. [glow=red,2,300]"Salia, I know this is a big thing to ask, but would you allow me to accompany you, so that I can retrieve more of these fragments for Madoka? Its vital that she find every last fragment."[/glow]

While Kyubey is saying this, Madoka had removed her ID disk, and just like before, she brought the fragment close to the disk, and the fragment was absorbed. She replaced her disk, allowing it to sync before switching to her battle form. This time when she switched to her battle form, a horn accompanied the transformation, allowing her access to her basic elemental skills; fire, blizzard, thunder, and cure.

As the ID disk realigns with Madoka she can feel a great power that was not there before. It seems the power was added to the fragment by admin protocol means.



She also feels she can now sense anywhere in the grid where fragments are. the closer to the fragment the stronger the feeling.


Salia says to Madoka, "[glow=midnightblue,2,300]I hope these gifts of power help you in your mission to recover your soul gem fragments. I can give you the area locations for 3 more fragments but it will take time for me to get clearance from the CEO of Grid Management, my boss.

These powers should help to even the odds against it, if you can get 2 more fragments. I know that Alicorn lifeforms can stand up to Night Mares and drive them off. Only Lady Luna has ever beaten and slain a Night Mare.

I also have the power within 'The Grid' to face this life form. This place is currently my location of power. It will not be able to hide from me forever. If you need my help just send me a p-mail and I will come to you.

As for you my new little friend, I would love to have ya. Hope ya don't mind small places. I rarely get out like this. It is usually a good thing that I don't have to monitor the system, all the time, from one location.[/glow]" She scratches the cat-like creature under the chin gently to see if it likes being scratched there.

Kyubey purrs in pleasure at the gesture, before hopping up on Salia's back. [glow=red,2,300]"As long as its more of a central location it shouldn't be a problem. I can still contact Madoka through telepathy, so I can contact her when we locate a fragment. Also, if you or her need something, you need only call me in your mind."[/glow]

Madoka nods in understanding. "Will do. And thanks Salia for the boost, I really appreciate it. And I know I can't tell you to not go after the Night Mare, but the least I can do is warn you about its abilities. Well, the abilities it had in the real world at least. In the real world it could create and control any piece of digital equipment, be that a simple computer, or the internet. It can also create smaller entities that resemble, at least in the digital world, computer viruses called 'familiars'. If you plan on going to confront it, use extreme caution when entering its labyrinth and confronting it directly."

Jericho was standing silently by his Light Cycle listening while looking towards the city

But for yours, you have to earn it by helping this one become one of the five or by giving her a good rivalry. You have your calling and it is in a way part of her mission. Please have faith in me. I meant no disrespect by not having something open to you. She needed this for her personal mission. You are here because my boss needed somepony besides me and my apprentice to test out the grid. upon looking up anypony can see the largish box area that seems to have lines leaving and entering it. beyond that you can't tell what is inside the box.

The Night Mare, known as Techno Babble, caught its disk and summoned multiple familiars, the bug-like creatures swarming Moonlight, preparing to finish her off, while Techno Babble slipped away into its labyrinth.

Moonlight ran faster ah gosh why don't I have a light baton curses! Well I should run towards the stadium or wherever they hold their tournaments.

As Madoka and Jericho make their way to the stadium, Madoka hears shouts coming from her right. She looks over and spots an unfamiliar program running from....FAMILIARS!

"Jericho, that program needs help! Remember those familiars I mentioned before? They're attacking her! We should help!"

Jericho without even letting Madoka end her sentence turned the Lyght cycle without loosing speed with an insane maneuver

[glow=black,2,300]Ahead of you...[/glow] Says Jericho trought the radio [glow=black,2,300]I will go ahead and keep those things off her, Madoka! Help the program![/glow] With this Jericho increased his speed going right trought the program towards the familiars

Salia waves them off and with her new friend she teleports back to her place, "[glow=navy,2,300]welcome to the admin's terminal.[/glow]" as she comes to the terminal itself there is warning lights flashing. "[glow=navy,2,300]Hmm seems we have another encounter with that strange program. this time it seems to be hitting another hacker class program. sending security detail to try and capture one of what is attacking her.[/glow]" she turns to another counsel and says, "[glow=navy,2,300]Tron this one is in your area. I need a security team asap at the following coordinates.[/glow]" She sends to tron the coordinates of the attack with orders to capture all enemy based programs and to bring in the program attacked for questioning. "[glow=navy,2,300]Little friend, I need you to lock onto were they came from for me. I want to know how this thing moves without our noticing it.[/glow]" She says to the cat-like creature with her.

Asterian sits over near one of the windows, patiently awaiting his mentor's arrival. He looked out over the illuminated city with a watchful eye, just as he did before.

[glow=skyblue,2,300]"Wait, Salia is never late."[/glow] The stallion's face, though hidden behind his hood, turned to a concerned look. Maybe she had just forgotten about the meeting for a minute. Maybe there were other, more important matters.

Still, it concerned him. Could she not have simply messaged him?

Asterian hears a pinging noise from his flank, and he looks down to realize there was a message.

Upon reading the message, he nodded his cloaked head and began to walk out of the building, towards the city administration terminal as instructed. At least now he had his answers, but one question lingered. What was this threat, and how come he never heard of it? He was the Ghost of the System, after all. He saw nearly everything. Perhaps he simply made a mistake.

Nonetheless, he continued walking towards their new meeting location, hoping to get there as soon as he could.

Asterian arrived at the terminal in little to no time at all, a surprising fact, given that it was nearly a mile away.

His question still lingered in the back of his mind. What was this threat to the Grid? How come it had hidden itself under his radar? No matter. He walked forward into the terminal, his hood still drawn over his head.

when her apprentice arrived she smiles and says, "[glow=navy,2,300]Welcome my apprentice. I hope you journey here was uneventful. I know you have many questions but that can wait. Please my new little friend introduce yourself to my apprentice.[/glow]"

Asterian magically lowered his hood, giving a nod to the unnamed pony. Any friend of Salia's was ally to him. He said to the other pony, [glow=skyblue,2,300]"Asterian Starfall, Ghost of the System. A pleasure to meet you, naturally."[/glow]

I create contracts with fillies to grant one wish, but in exchange, a Soul Gem is created and she must fight Night Mares for the rest of her life. The Magi are also sometimes known aa 'Magical Fillies', but the proper name is Magi.[/glow]

Salia smiled at Kyubey and said, "[glow=navy,2,300]I have heard of magi before. Have you, kyubey, heard of the card wielders?[/glow]"

Salia smiled at the fact that what she was about to say would shock Kyubey. "[glow=navy,2,300]I know that currently on the grid there is one such being of the ones you just mentioned. I happen to be that being.[/glow]" Salia holds up a duel disk and a deck of cards so that Kyubey can see clearly. On a belt around her barrel is a case that seems to hold more cards. "[glow=navy,2,300]My duel spirit is the famed Endymion, the Master Magician. I wield a caster/soldier deck. I also have a special Light cycle just for high chase duels. So as I said to Madoka earlier, I can handle a Night Mare or two. My deck has never once let me down.[/glow]"

she turns to Asterian and says, "[glow=navy,2,300]Sorry for keeping you, My Apprentice. The threat you are wandering about is called Night Mare. It traps users and programs alike in it's personal labyrinth to feed on them. Your task is to gain power by joining Madoka, Jericho and Miss Moonlight as part of a 5 pony team, that will partake in this years tournament. The team must lead their chosen faction to victory. As one of the 5 to claim that victory you may get a means of combating this Night Mare. But for now try to avoid getting caught in its web of traps. Am I understood. You may begin when ready. I have sent to you their last known coordinates. Madoka and Jericho are currently facing off against the summoned familiars of said Night Mare, to protect Miss Moonlight.[/glow]"

A Night Mare? In the Grid? [glow=skyblue,2,300]"This should be interesting,"[/glow] he thought, even though he was not taking the matter lightly.

Contrary to believe held by many users, users do not "de-resolute" like programs. Anything that happens to a user in the Grid happens to them. That fight going on could very well be a fight for their lives, but Asterian needed help in some form.

[glow=skyblue,2,300]"I will see to the issue, but I fear my target may be able to see completely past a chameleon-type nano-cloaking. Is there any possibility, Mistress, you have a gravity transmogrifier?"[/glow]

she looks to him and says, "[glow=navy,2,300]The familiars are not the ones with such sight, my apprentice. You still need to make contact with the other three though. So I will give you a prototype ability. I need to test it anyways. It is a derez and capture ability. When a target is drezed instead of being killed they are captured. I need at least one of the familiars alive for testing purposes. The rest are yours to play with. Also in the locker is a gear set for you. I do apologize, I do not have that program inputted into the system just yet. Something like that will take more time to get clearance from HQ, to allow on the grid.[/glow]."

The baton holds all grid vehicles.
the disk upgrade gives your more stat bonuses. Got to get the chara sheets done.
The armor doesn't replace the ability it enhances it.
The ability disk give you a new ability. it doesn't replace abilities.
Please give me a little more time and you all will see what i mean. Sorry for taking so long on the chara sheets RL stuff has been keeping me busy.

Asterian whistles softly while he obtains the contents of the locker, integrating the upgrade and disk ability into his own. He dons the thin nano-fiber armor, replacing his hooded cloak over it. Lastly, he takes the baton and nods to Salia.

[glow=skyblue,2,300]"Thank you. I will not fail you, Salia. You have my word."[/glow] He walks away from the group. Slowly, he begins to pick up the pace and soon breaks out into a full gallop. Once he is outside of the terminal, he leaps into the air, performing a frontflip and breaking the baton open. A light-cycle begins to materialize around him as gravity takes hold, dragging him back to the ground. The vehicle manages to fully resolute before he touches down, kicking into life as he drives away towards the location of the battleground.

chasing moonlight is at least 10+ creatures that look like programs but also something else. they are chasing moonlight threw the main area of the ISO section of 'The Grid'.
*there is a beeping sound from her ID Disk. maybe a p-mail.*

Jericho was desperate, he was already fighting many of those creatures, but when turning around he saw many more going after the program

[glow=black,2,300]Hay, hay, HAY![/glow] Yelled while dodging the familiars on his Light Cycle [glow=black,2,300]Jericho calm down, think, think, think... Gaahhh.... I cant![/glow] yells again while throwing again his Disk toward the familiars that were closing the gap between them and Jerichos Cycle

With the familiars about to strike and capture Jericho there is a flash all around Jericho. He finds no less the 20 fully armored security programs. they look to be Salia's elite defense programs. Tron was also there wielding not one but two ID Disks.

Soon ID disks started flying everywhere and many of the familiars were taken out.
However there are some who remain still chasing poor moonlight.
With the fall of their friends however the are now more determined to claim the program as they start to move faster and even more began to show up.

From Moonlight's and Madoka's prospective it could mean that they are nearing the physical edge of something.
The familiars did not want these victims to leave their hunting grounds. Madoka and moonlight your moves.
from Jericho's prospective it could look as if the little buggers are getting agitated that their prey may get away.

((Sorry about the late reply, I've been AFK all weekend))

Madoka got to Moonlight, just as the familiars were pouncing on their prey, pulling her onto the saftey of her light cycle, before switching on the auto-pilot function. Madoka then jumped off the light cycle, switching into her Battle Form and summoning an energy bow. She took careful aim at the nearest familiar, letting an energy bolt fly, impaling the familiar and reducing it to bytes before aiming at the rest and letting energy bolt after energy bolt fly. Within seconds, all the familiars were defeated. Switching out of her Battle Form, Madoka slumped and pulled out her ID disk to check her Soul Gem. Its color was much darker than before, almost black. It was amazing how little power she had with only three fragments.

'Kyubey, if you have any Grief Seeds, now would be a good time to send one.'

[glow=red,2,300]'You're lucky I just came from the real world, or else you'd be out of luck.'[/glow]

A flash of light announced the arrival of the Grief Seed. Madoka took it in her hoof and placed it next to her Soul Gem. The dark color within the Soul Gem immediately left it in a dark cloud and was absorbed into the Grief Seed, which promptly vanished in another flash of light.

[glow=red,2,300]'Try to use as little of your power as possible until you find at least two more fragments, I only have two Grief Seeds left.'[/glow]

'Thanks Kyubey, I'll keep that in mind.'

Jericho, despite the fact of being saved he yelled at the ones who saved him

Go and help the mare![/glow] Says while pointing at Madoka who was all alone [glow=black,2,300]If something happens to her, we are screw![/glow] with this said Jericho started to go towards Madoka direction, she was powerful indeed, but it was an unfair fight, and those can only lead to a bad result.

(I didnt... I just made Jericho to priorize their safety over some easily to reproduce data as the familiars are, since we can just come back and wait for more, plus Asterian has the "Capture Kill" ID needed to catch them)

((moonlight is a hacker unicorn. and madoka is a unicorn in her battle form. magic codes could have been used to capture one. also basic ID Disk capture rings are available to all ID disks. Also in a safe zone capture can be done without derezing the target. Method of capture is up to the one capturing.))

One of the security programs came over carrying something in a ring net, "Miss Madoka? What you want me to do with this thing? It isn't like the programs we are use to capturing but the rings seem to work fine on them. These creatures seem to have a more user based feel to them." the program holds up one of the familiars in a capture ring net. (ring nets are standard issue for all security class programs.)

moonlight is the first one to notice but this one had something on it's wrist. it looks to be a program code of some kind. one she feels she can copy.

The derez requirement function of your copy ability has been nullified by the fact this took place in a safe zone.)

moonlight looked at the familiar thinking whether she should derrezed it or not

((Moonlight knows as a program that derezalution is impossible in a safe zone. she also knows that she doesn't need to do so in order to gain the program code from the familiar.))

A silent whoosh sounded as a light-cycle began to approach, its rider's cloak ripping behind him. As he approached the scene, he tore the handlebars from the bike, flipping off of it and transforming it back into a baton. He landed on all fours in a cat-like manner, scarcely making a sound and landing perfectly unharmed. From underneath his hood, he looked to the security program. [glow=skyblue,2,300]"Everything is under control. I have orders to capture this... grid anomaly."[/glow]

The security program nods. "Here ya go. Caught this one trying to leave the area. I do not know why it was fleeing when its allies were advancing. But i guess that is for the admin to determine." the program hands over the familiar to asterian. When the familiar smells the sent of a card wielder and a magi guardian on him, it hisses in anger at Asterian. It says, "[glow=black,2,300]Let me go. Master is calling.[/glow]" this familiar is different from the others by far. It also has the Night Mare's Kiss on its neck.

[glow=skyblue,2,300]"Thank you, program. As you were."[/glow] As soon as the familiar is given to him, he takes off his disk and slices it, apparently de-rezzing it, but in truth, capturing it. As the familiar is stored inside the disk, Asterian whispers back to it, [glow=skyblue,2,300]"You are coming with me."[/glow]

With a nod to the programs, he turns away and activates his chameleon cloak, turning translucent.

Jericho looks at Asterian with an un-ease feling, but without saying nothing he just gets near Madoka and Moonlight

the familiar? says, "[glow=black,2,300]You will let me go this instant.[/glow]"



with it's ability now active it passes out of the ID Disk and makes a run for it.
"[glow=black,2,300]Ha you can't hold me with that low class prison. bye bye.[/glow]"

Asterian, although too well knowing this is a safe zone, draws out his disk and begins to chase after the familiar, dropping his cloak altogether. [glow=skyblue,2,300]"Running will only make it worse, program!"[/glow]

As he runs past the group, he yells at them, [glow=skyblue,2,300]"Stop him!"[/glow]

Tron reacts faster then a normal program does and uses his second ID Disk as a ring net.

Jericho sights as he turns on his ID disk ability and in a blink appears in front of the familiar and kicks it towards Asterian

The Ghost of the System is slightly bewildered by Tron's reflex, watching the program flail helplessly as it is captured once more. As he approaches Tron, he gives him a slight nod from under his hood.

Tron looks to Jericho and says, "[glow=navy,2,300]Nice kick. You taking part in the tournament.[/glow]"
Tron Returns the gesture to asterian then says, "[glow=navy,2,300]Why don't I take this one to the admin. I am curious. How did it just use a grade one user ability?[/glow]"

((the reason it escaped was because Asterian didn't use the relocate part of the Capture Kill ability.))

[glow=skyblue,2,300]"How it can do that is beyond me. Some sort of anomaly is tampering with the Grid, or at least, so I think."[/glow] He motioned once more to Tron and the group before attempting his vanishment again.

All abilities must be grade 10 or they will not function to stop either part.
For grade 10 abilities there is a 40% chance of capture success if the ability is used when capture attempt is made.

E.G. Target's ability must be level 10 in order to interrupt?

Madoka nods, satisfied with this answer as she switched to her battle form and cast a forcefield spell to stop the familiar from escaping as Tron released it from his disk. The familiar hissed as it recognized the Magi.

Madoka blinked in confusion. 'Since when have familiars been able to speak? Kyubey, are you seeing this?'

Madoka nods, constricting the forcefield to make a closer examination of the familiar.



The Night Mare's Kiss on its neck was even more puzzling. Why would a familiar, loyal to its Night Mare need a Night Mare's Kiss? Unless it wasn't just a familiar. Could the Night Mare have re purposed programs to become familiars? What would happen if she removed the mark? Madoka channeled more magic into her horn and pointed it at the mark. A beam of flame came out and burned the mark away...only for nothing to happen. The familiar was still a familiar, but now it had stopped speaking. Apparently the mark only enabled speech.

"Alright, I'm done with my examination. The familiars appear to be native to the Grid somehow. Not sure how, but the Night Mare is converting minor programs, programs that no one would notice was missing, like a byte, into familiars. They should have any weaknesses they had, namely the ID disks. As for defense, as you can see, a simple forcefield spell will keep them at bay."

Tron nodded, recording all of this info to his ID disk.

Also I was portraying this one as a converted user not a program. Namely a user with really dark intent. found the favor of the Night Mare and became that to fulfill that favor.))

Madoka, hearing Salia, looked around, until she noticed a spot on her ID disk glowing. She tapped the spot, and was able to see Salia before her.

"There really wasn't any thing too different about it, but it did seem slightly more intelligent than your average familiar. Its quite possible that basic programs are being converted into familiars. However, I won't rule out intelligence increase due to being on the Grid. It also seemed a little faster than usual, though I attribute that to the Night Mare being on home turf."

The Ghost reached down at his disk, placing the light-cycle on auto-pilot as he sent a reply.



When the message was sent, he began to travel towards the portal. The exit for all users, and even programs, back into the physical world. As he began to make his trip towards the exit, his mind emptied itself from all thought. Nothing else mattered for now. Only the mission remained.

The only thing that still marks me is the fact I am allot stronger then other users and because of my Alicorn form. The Alicorn form i have isn't my real form. In the user world I am a unicorn. If all goes well here I may get an upgrade in status in the user world. But I am not as hopeful as my peers.
I have chosen your Kyubey as my replacement for the time being. I will still be able to work as an admin but I think i need to get out there and examine the situation myself, then to just rely on others all the time. Plus I hate the small office I get here.

He snapped the light-cycle's handlebars apart, disintegrating the vehicle before breaking the baton against, forming a light-jet. Its engines roared into life before it took off to the east, away from the city and out towards the goal.

his goal is not far. he can see the star like symbol of the gate back to the main offices. When her arrives a security program asks for his ID Disk and holds out a scanner.

The Ghost nods and gives his disk to the program for verification.

After the guard scans the ID Disk he returns it and nods letting Asterian pass.

Madoka, looks at the familiar, and finds the bracelet in question. She proceeds to yank it off and pull it out of the forcefield.

"Alright Salia, I look forward to fighting alongside you. Also, I should probably mention, the Night Mare, since it was the one that converted the programs and summoned the familiars, can give its familiars user abilities, since its technically a user itself."

Madoka then turns to Tron. "Salia would like you to take the familiar to the admin terminal, she wants to conduct her own analysis."

Tron nods as he takes out his disk and captures the familiar once again.

Madoka nods, "Yes, we should." She turns, pulling out her light baton to bring out her light cycle, but is stopped by Tron.

[glow=navy,2,300]"Hold on there Madoka. I believe I have something of yours."[/glow] Tron pulls out a pink fragment from a pouch on his belt.

Madoka's eyes widen in disbelief "Where did you find that?"

Madoka pulls off her disk and melds the the Soul Gem fragment with her disk. When her disk finished syncing, she switched to her battle form. This time, her transformation consisted of wings growing out of her back, with the horn not appearing at all. She felt her old speed once again, and was still able to use all of her spells, including a new time spell, allowing her to freeze time for a short amount of time, much like her friend Homura's ability to control time.

Like... data?[/glow] Jericho pulls out a data scanner showing a lot of data scattered around the screen [glow=black,2,300]As far as I know we are into a digital domain, everything can be unlocked with the right key, despites the efforts of Salia or anypony to seal those kinds of things off...[/glow] manipulates the datas codes around him creating a glowing ball of energy that circles around the group [glow=black,2,300]If they can... Im affraid that we are into a far more complicated situation... standing aside Shadow Mare of course...[/glow]

Madoka looks Jericho directly in the eye as she says her next words. "I'm gonna tell you a secret Jericho. When I made my contract with Kyubey, I didn't just give up my destiny, I gave up my very soul to have my wish granted. That's what the Soul Gem of a Magi; their very soul housed within a crystal allowing us to heal ourselves in record time, and not notice pain from the attacks of the Night Mares. So to answer your question, there is only one other being able to use the power of my Soul Gem, and that being is the Night Mare herself. If she gets even one claw on my Soul Gem, she'll corrupt it, along with the other fragments, turning it into a Grief Seed. A Night Mare egg. I'd become one of them."

Silence fell as Madoka's statement continues to ring in the air.

Jericho just hugged her in a quick move

Asterian dove head first into the portal, not showing hesitance or resistance to orders; however, many things swirled in his mind. What did Salia mean by "the next part of his training?" What did she mean by a gold deck?

  "Okay" puts disc in the slot and enters "Leafwhisp" and types in his function as  repairing and restoring. placing his disc back on his flank he hears a sudden pinging noise from his disc.

"what?" takes off his disc and reads the pm.

"So theres a tournament going on, huh" puts disc back and walks out of his cell and heads outside of the cellhouse, on the way out he finds a weird pink shard. He picks it up and shrugs

He finds a nearby security program, "um, excuse me can you tell me where the tournament is at" The program pointed at a nearby dome building.

Thanks he rushes off to find out about the tournament and the factions

Asterian's arrival was meet with about 10 higher ranking executives then his teacher, asking questions to the technician all at the same time.
The speech is so jumbled together that the tech who was Asterian's ticket back on to the grid is overwhelmed.

Your arrival at the arena is mark with cheers from with the arena. You can't see much being outside, but the sound of light cycles inside the arena suggest you have yet to miss the match between Tron and Clu.
The sign outside shows that the match between Tron and Clu is two events away.
The starting ceremony for the main tournament is last on today's events.

The ticket counter has a line of about 10 users and programs at it including a program that looks to have just awoken.

Madoka, putting away her light cycle, walks up to the ticket counter

"Looks like its all automated," she says looking over the ticket selection screen sitting on the counter.

"Oi! Get to the back of the line!" shouts an unknown program.

Madoka, blushing profusely, quickly gets to the back of the line to wait her turn patiently.

moonlight was already in line she then looks at the just awoken program.

Asterian pays no heed to the technicians that are there and hustles to Salia's desk. [glow=skyblue,2,300]"Let me see... Deck... Deck..."[/glow] As he looks around the room, he spots the deck and the prototype sitting clear as day on the desk. How could he have missed them that easily?

Shrugging, he acquires the components before heading back out of Salia's office and back to the main lobby. As he passes by the technicians again, he stops by the one that looked at him earlier and asks, [glow=skyblue,2,300]"Need a hoof there?"[/glow]

The executives look to Asterian and one says, "What is going on in there? We have bugs all over the system."
Another says, "We have complaints about programs and other items not working across the entire grid. What the heck is happening in there?"
A third says, "How is the tournament coming along? I really want to see Tron and Clu go at it, But duty calls as usual."

Asterian says to the first and second, [glow=skyblue,2,300]"We are resolving the situation from the inside. I am not sure what is happening, but we are working on it."[/glow]

Starfall heads back into the transport room to prepare re-animation into the grid.

the head tech says, "you heard him they are working on the problem from the inside. now please let me do my job. i have to get him back to the admin before things go sour. hey Asterian you forgot this." The tech tosses Asterian a gold deck box the second box he was supposed to get. The tech then begins the process of rerezzing him on to the grid?

His arrival is marked by the usual greeting from the guard programs at the gate. this time they do not ask for his ID disk and just let him get on his way.
One says, "You will find miss Salia at the arena preparing for the tournament opening ceremony."

[glow=skyblue,2,300]"Excellent."[/glow] With that, he runs forward and shatters his baton open, re-constructing his light-cycle and revving the engine before taking off towards the arena. He was already running late as is, he needed to pick up the pace.

As Asterian gets to the arena Jericho, madoka and Moonlight the three from earlier are already in line.
Asterian knows with his apprenticeship to the admin he can bypass the lines entirely and take anypony of choice with him.
They are three of the ponies that Salia told him could save the grid one day, same as him.
It would be wise to get them into the arena as fast as possible and it also seems the ticket operator program is having trouble as well.
Another glitch in the system that needs checking later.
the program operating the ticket system waves to Asterian, "Good day shadow of the grid. Going to see that match? If so, go on in your ticket was already sent ahead before you came. It seems the admin expected you to show."
Asterian knows that now would be the time to use his rank to get the three past the lines.

Asterian waves to the other three before turning back to the program, [glow=skyblue,2,300]"Those three are with me. Grid security reasons."[/glow] With that, he motions for the three to join him.

Though there were grumpy users and programs in the line they stepped aside to let Jericho, Madoka and Moonlight join Asterian on his way in. Asterian, once inside, can see Salia and Kyubee in the sky box for the elite and powerful. It is easy for him and the group to get there. The match for the light cycles has just ended "And the winners are Team Kindness! Our next match is a surprise match for Legendary and rarely seen, Shadow of the Grid, Asterian. Who will he be facing and how will he be fighting only his challenger knows this. what makes the suspense rise is the fact the challenger wish only to currently be called that the challenger. will Asterian Please report to Salia before coming on the battle grid."

Asterian walks up to the skybox, meeting with Salia. [glow=skyblue,2,300]"I have returned with the items you requested."[/glow] He gives the three components to Salia before continuing, [glow=skyblue,2,300]"Am I truly that rarely seen that they mistook my title?"[/glow] He lets out a small laugh, his mouth barely visible under his hood.

They thought taking your current title and giving it a change was good for you. Well My apprentice, are you ready for what comes next? The gold case is yours. Along with the prototype system you acquired from my office.[/glow]" She hooves him back the disk system prototype and the gold deck case. "[glow=navy,2,300]Your opponent and the type of match will be said as soon as your are on the battle grid field. It would be wise to keep them with you. Now your match awaits. This starts the next phase in your training, my apprentice.[/glow]"

((just to let you know your opponent is Salia. It was going to be  training match for your character. IE you awaken a duel spirit this time around. there will be times when the card battle act like the movie and are out of duels,meaning select a monster and summon it. munsters take time to recover if summoned out of a duel in this way. it a user power.

((That is truly to be your next phase in her training. She was going to teach Asterian how to call forth a duel spirit. After the training you can make it as a magic the gathering! deck instead of a yugioh! deck. Meaning using yugioh will only be for the training match. the spirit should be a monster from your magic deck if you use the ability. That is why it is called Card Wielder. her next question will tell me what deck to use against yours. if you need a deck will lend you the other one of the two.))

Salia Smiles and says, "[glow=navy,2,300]I don't think all card wielders are the same. But for this I hope you can wield that yugioh deck well. Now choose Blackwings or spell counter?[/glow]" She looks to Madoka and says, "[glow=navy,2,300]You will get to see us only in our grid field. Not in true combat but I know that will change, Madoka. It will be an honor working with you against the Night Mare.[/glow]" She guides Asterian out on the battle grid.

The announcer says, "And the two combatants for this training match have entered the field. What kind of training will Mage Master have for The Ghost of the System? We will just have to find out."

Leaf sat down in a nearby seat to see the match between mage master and The ghost of the system

The Ghost quietly prepared himself against his opponent, looking closely at the artifacts before him. He had hardly an idea of their intent or purpose, but he strapped the duel disk to himself and loaded the deck. He walked over to the edge of his side of the field and prepared. He struck a shady yet noble pose as he nodded, indicating he was ready.

Then played his theme... The same song over and over inside his head...

The disk held in telekonesis  before The Mage Master activates also activating Asterian's disk.
(Before turn With deck draw 5 cards. 4* and lower monsters can be called without the use of another unless the effect of said card requires it. Trap cards must be set before activation spells can be use immediately or set for later use. field spells can only have one active. grave can only be touched by certain cards and monsters for either return to hand or revival to field.)
