Storyline Summary: Owned by Enstramentall, the Ponyville opera is a place for everypony to come and enjoy music, or just hang out during the off production hours. Nopony needs any tickets or passes to visit, usually, and anypony can come as they are. The opera house's doors open to a large lobby, with doors to the main stage room and stairs to higher seating. Without any futher ado, welcome, everypony, to the Ponyville Opera! :D
bleyd is set to listen to the orchestra
*Rad sees the new building while flying overhead and decides to take a look*
Enstramentall was sitting in a seat in the front row, tapping her hoof quietly in time with the rhythem of the orchestra.
*As Rad enters, he hears music*
Enstra stood up and trotted to the side of the opera house, checking the sound and volume from different points on the main floor. Good...She whispered quietly.
*Sees Enstra* Yo!
Hello! Enstra smiled to Rad. The green unicorn trotted closer to the stage, nodding her head slowly. This rehearsal is going well...She whispered to herself. I should have them play at the special event....Maybe..... She raised an eyebrow slightly.
What is this place? A concert hall?
She turned around. An opera house, or a theatre, Monsieur, if you wish to call it that. Though formally, it's the Ponyville Opera House.
Opera? *his face suddenly went meh :l*
Enstra let out a sigh. Alright, save it. I don't need more ponies hating on opera, and I won't appreciate any rude comments. She her face changed quickley. It's not just opera, you know. Sometimes we hold instrumental performances, like right now, musicals, and the occasional rock concert or two. o.O

Jenzy was walking around, and then notices the Opera House.

He trots to the house.
Next Saturday. Until then, we've got instrumental performances running all week, and an opera performance on Friday. She nodded slowly.
Ok then. Instrumentals of what, if I may ask?
Well, there's jazz, country, and classical planned so far. Today we've got classical all day, with jazz this evening.

Enstra trotted to the main lobby, heading over to a concession stand and grabbing a cup of water.
Staticboom entered the Opera house main lobby, with his friend Diesel Spark following close behind. They wanted to see the new building first hand.
Wow, its so big...I wonder what kinda electrical setups they have around.
I-I don't think its the place for machines Diesel. Static was busy looking around, he almost bumped into another pony at the concession stand

Yes, I'm the owner, Enstramentall. Welcome to the Ponyville Opera House. Enstra smiled and bowed her head slightly in respect for her guests. Sitting back up, she continued speaking. We currently have a jazz performance going on now, if you want to go in and listen, but we've got a huge opera performance tomorrow, as well as a country performance that morning.

Nice to meet ya I'm Diesel Spark, ya did a great job with the place. I'm just here for my friend Static over there. He pointed to the pegasus before turning back to Enstra. He's really into the music thing but he's shy. He leaned closer to Enstra and whipered He's also a great singer if ya need anyone. He winked and turned back to Static.
I-I like jazz...I think I'll go listen. Static whispered and before anyone could say anything he trotted off towards the music.
Enstra laughed quietly, shaking his hoof. Charmed. By the way, I'll keep Static in mind. I've got some big productions coming up and need more ponies, especially stallions. It's amazing how few of them have interest in such a thing. She quieted down for a second. You can go join him in there, if you'd like. The unicorn nodded towards the concert.
Diesel nodded Yeah I'd better, he has a habit of gettin' into trouble on his own. Diesel smiled at Enstra before following Static into where the music is.

Enstra trotted back into the main stage room, taking a seat in the back row. She hummed to herself quietly, listening to the jazz band playing onstage.
Alanca entered the Ponyville Opera house, she had a saddle bag on her back and took a moment to readjust it.
*Cooper lands next to the Opera house, following a GPS signal* She may be here...
After adjusting her bag Alanca sat down in one of the seats, taking care to hide her wings
*He entered in the Opera House, quietly, carefully following the signal*
Alanca doesn't take much notice of cooper, and keeps watching the performance
*Cooper finally stopped in front of a dark corner, the signal was coming right from there, so he approached, turning on his flashlight* Emily, are you there? Emi- *Emily was right there, cuddling a teddy bear, her eyes were bleeding* Oh my...

Enstra trotted around backstage, helping performers grab their instruments and head onstage. It was a short notice rock performance, and Enstra had hadf no time to prepare. She shoved her brother, Andy Mercury, onstage, as he was the main performer tonight. She gave him a high hoof and dashed out to the back of the theater, watching from the stage room exit as the show started.
As Bon Pony, the band, started to jam, she took a seat. They were really just having a serious dress rehearsal, so she was free to relax and listen.
Jenzy relaxed at one of the chairs.
The band stopped and started talking over the previous song, and Enstra stood up, trotting over to Jenzy. How're you? She smiled, taking a seat next to him.
Hey there- Enstra~ What-cha do-in?
Jenzy replied in an almost sing-song voice in his normal voice.
Nothin' much. All that's really going on tonight is this rehearsal. Enstra gestured to the stage. She put her hoof down and smiled. My, you sound chipper today. ^-^ That's great!

Blaze Drifter looked around the Opera House.

Estra face hooved. There's a minikin part, and the wizard's still open....She blushed in embarrasment. Ehh, yes, Blaze, but that's not gonna happen. All else fails, I'll jump into the role of the witch... She shook her head slowly, looking down and avoiding their eyes.
Explain to me the minikin and wizard's role please., Jenzy asked.
Blaze leaned to him, I didn't know you liked to actually play.

Well, a minikin is a creature who lives in minikin land, mainly a chorus role with some acting, and not too much singing involved. Enstra paused, remembering each role's details. The wizard is the character the main character, Dorothy Dandy, and her friends are going to go see. He's a large role for somepony to fill, because his character requires a good stage presence. He's said to make dreams come true and that sort of thing, to sum it up. She nodded slowly. :nod:
I still don't get the mimikin, but, wow. That wizard role. Too bad I'm no Unicorn., Jenzy said.

Wow, that's horrible! Sorry about your items, Jenzy! >.< Enstra frowned apoligetically, then smiled. I know you're not a unicorn, but prosthetics can fix that, for a less permanent-ish option, if you'd really like the role.
It's a play. Special Effects Enstra? Do you have the magical skill to do that?, Jenzy asked Enstramentall.
Enstra frowned, then shrugged. I could try and whip something up. It's not that she coughs difficult. X3 I'm sure it's not too difficult, it's just a fake horn!..... DD: Oh who am I kidding? I'm not able to do THAT! I can barely lift up a pan without it bursting into flames! I can't risk somepony's HEAD to maybe have THAT happen! Then she gave a sly smile. Or maybe I cou- Nah. Not gonna- but it's possible...She trailed off.
Alanca stood up and started to wander over to Enstra, keeping her distance, trying to find out what the commotion was.

I think they're on their last song, so after that I'll have 3 hours off... Oh, her eyes flicked back up to Jenzy, and I understand if you don't wanna have a part.
Alanca started to walk slowly towards Enstra, trying not to cause a fuss.

Actually, we've got opening in the Wizard of Oats, for the wizard's part, though you're not a unicorn, which is required for the part. Other than that there's the upcoming production of Neigh Miserables, and we need several stallions for that one...Oh, and the stage is open anytime there isn't a production going on. Heck, it's open right now, if you wanted to head in there! Enstra grinned.
Static and Diesel grinned at the same time. There's a spot open for a unicorn ay? Diesel looked up thoughtfully. Static looked at Diesel and raised an eyebrow. Oh and uh we might borrow the stage later for a concert... After I put up some flyers.
Yes, a unicorn. And you'd need to talk to me about the whole concert plan, just in case it conflicts with another concert. She nodded, thinking.
Static nodded. I'm sure we could set a date, whenever suits you Enstra Diesel raised his head. And I'll be trying out for that unicorn part in the play!

The flutter of a cape, as the breeze pushed past a stallion with an elegant fez, his velvet mantle almost a banner in the wind; a soft scent of pines emanated from the pony as he strode confidently forward along the cold Ponyville street. This was Velvet Draft, a younger Earth-stallion, some would estimate mid 20s and they'd be right. The young author had made a lucky publication and he was in the eye of the public, if only for the moment. This success hadn't sat too well in his conscious, he had taken his top critiques advice and made a rather . . . startling change to his final draft, but he consoled himself, "The public wanted it, so they received. Even an author must make compromises, that's the world we live in . . ." But even with such firm rationalism he had already begun penance. A book about the nine states of mind, as he saw them, a book purely of his own ideas that he wouldn't compromise for all the money in Equestria, but he hoped, desperately, there would be at least a small band of customers.
The ponies ruminations were interrupted by a small congregation leaving the opera house. "Opera . . ." He sighed. Velvet was a great fan of operatic vocalists but he wasn't too familiar with most of the plays, thus the billboard announcing the great 'so and so' and the current performance of 'such-a-play' meant little to him. But on this day of great success he felt an urgent need for comfort. Smiling his soft pearl head he shook his short cropped obsidian hair out. "Too morale for this world? Or too stubborn for it?" Which brought him to an interesting thought. "Aren't they the same." He laughed out loud, noting that mentally for a statement somewhere, nodding quite unabashed to the surprised pony besides him, Velvet moved with his proud gaunt into the Opera house.
His light silver mantle flapped once more and the unique shawl he wore ,as nothing more than a fashion statement, brushed his neck moved by the warm blast of air rushing to great him at the entrance.
"Well, doesn't this look nice." A smile creeping into his face, pure and clean not a fraction of sarcasm hidden, anywhere. "I'm glad such a place has been established, I wouldn't think Ponyville large enough to boast it's own opera house, a happy mistake."
Staticboom turned to look at the pony who just walked in, he took notice of the fact he was rather elegant looking and well spoken from the sound of his voice. Static tried his best to stop himself from shaking, a rather puny attempt he thought though. He took a few steps forward and raised his eyebrow slightly. H-Hello there. His voice sounded soft, with a shaky undertone at the end of his small sentence.
Velvet was staring at a pony, that had just spoken to him, or so he thought but his thoughts were still on the building and he hadn't quite absorbed the pony's words; his eyes were glazed and his pupils unfocused. For a few seconds more: his face was very distant, clear of emotion and thought, then several blinks later he was staring the pony full face. "Hello there, hello, hello." A dashing smile broke out and he gripped the pony's hoof.
"You know, I didn't know we had an opera house. Not here in Pony-ville, though I suppose I'm not the most outgoing pony, so that might explain it . . ."
He was looking around the building again and an uncomfortable pause passed between them, a pause Viridian seemed to be completely oblivious to, then he spoke again or more specifically he muttered: "Yes, very nice."
Static stood quite surprised that the pony had taken so long to respond, yet responded with such excitement, it wasn't something Static was used too. He smiled kindly though, even if he thought this pony was quite eccentric, then again so was Static.
Yes I only recently discovered the Opera House, apparently it's quite new. Though you've come at just the wrong time, the Band that was playing has finished, but I'm sure in a little while there will be an Opera practice, which I'm sure you are allowed to watch.
He turned and pointed kindly to a door. Through there is the theater where everything happens, though like I said it is empty at the moment.
Velvet leaned and studied the door static pointed to. His face an amalgamous conglomeration of emotions. Along the lines of his face and the sockets of his eyes sat: Pity; sadness; anxiousness; excitement; tension and longing. He shook his head again, pushing his pearly fez back into place. "That is . . . unfortunate, I was rather looking forward to an operatic solo, are there any skilled vocalists that sing here?"
His bright green eyes bore into the stallion besides him and the pony saw another emotion, an emotion born into Velvet as much as his eyes themselves, a strange compassion; it wasn't kindness, not directly, it was far closer to understanding, comprehending pain.
He stopped, letting his smile break out again. "Ah, but I must be boring you. Surely I am keeping you from some appointment, let me take up no more of your time, my good sir." And he bowed, an elegant sweeping bow that brought his mantle across his face, slightly exaggerated and with some humour in it's execution but not mockingly so. In fact, he seemed to be laughing at himself.
Static chuckled light heartedly. You are no bore Sir believe me. I have no appointments, I myself are waiting for the music to start up again. I wish I could make it start now but I've been told you cannot rush opera. I myself would sing for you, but I'm not exactly the 'Opera' type
Static seemed to be much more relaxed than he normally would be, which was very surprising to him, he was used to being incredibly anxious but he felt at ease talking to this mysterious, charming pony.
Ah, I nearly forgot. I didn't catch your name Sir. I'm StaticBoom. It's a pleasure to meet you.
Raising his head from the extravagent gesture he left out a guffaw of laughter. "Ah, very good to meet you. You can call me whatever you like, just don't make it too unflattering. But my name is Velvet Draft." His face reformed into a half-bored expression but dissapointment was obviously present. "You might know me for my most recent publication? The novella: 'To Be Without Wings'. If not, then excellent. If so . . ." He shrugged.
"Come though, I'd be honored to have a guide if you'd consent. Show me around this fine establishement, even if you too are new you know it infintely more intametly than myself. And we can talk, I don't emerge from my den often enough and sooner or later my friends forget me." He shook his head with not an inch of disdain. "I'm something of a novelty, I say, after the rarity of my personality wears off I become rather droll." His statement was half-joking but not fully, one could hear the weight behind the words.
"Hmm, if you guide us to the stage we can attempt a duet. You needn't be embaressed, I'm hardly proficient at opera . . . though I do flatter my voice a fine one." He shook his head pointedly at this comment and smiled again.
Static nodded slightly, he didn't read as many books as he would like to so he decided to play daft and stray from the subject.
Well I would be happy to show you around, but there is not much I can show you. I haven't been backstage yet. But I'm sure we would be allowed to go in for a peak, we shall see.
He walked forward through the door into the theater, he noticed it was rather dark, he stopped and waited near the stage for Velvet, as he decided to call him. In Static's mind he was going over the words that he heard about Velvet and his issue with friends. He tried to decipher the comment even though there wasn't much to decipher after he realized the weight of the words that had left his aquantinces lips. He shook the thought from his mind after realizing his blank facial expression, which he quickly changed into a warm smile.
I think it is rather obvious but this is the stage. There are stairs on either side, feel free to go up and explore my friend.
"You know, one of the benefits of living in Pony-ville is the open freedom of all it's facilities. We wouldn't even THINK about doing something like this in Manhattan or Trottingshire. . . " He was cut off, or chocked off. Velvet's mantle had become effectively caught between the staircase and the railing, the sturdy silver chain dug itself into his throat for a moment before he managed to unfasten the button. "Gahh." He coughed.
"Forgot to remove the bloody thing, don't let anyone tell you manners are pointless trivialities, this proves otherwise." He laughed. Throwing the unfastened mantle over his back, he pushed up the small stairs more slowly. "Heh, well we've made it here, alive. And it's a very nice stage . . . Those curtains are crimson red, it certainly feels, smells and looks like a new opera house."
He turned a sarcastic face upon Static. "Have you prepared your throat, my amiable compatriot? We stand on the site where singers throw their voices for us, I think it only suited that we justify the difficulty of the profession by attempting a piece ourselves." Standing upon his back hooves he threw his front out wide, looking out to the empty auditorium with sparkling eyes. "What shall we sing?"
Static trotted up the stairs, a slight chuckle escaping his lips.
This is one of the very few moments when I do not regret not having a coat.
He walked across and stood next to Velvet, a large smile lingering on his lips.
I'd hate to say, but my mind is quite blank when I try to think of a song for us to sing. I'm sure it won't matter though, we may come up with something.
Static looked out at the empty theater, he was certainly enjoying the company of the pony he had only just met. He wondered what Velvet must think of him, in Static's very limited knowledge of body language he assumed Velvet was enjoying his company, that or Velvet was an amazing lier. He shook the second thought aside and focused on the first one.
Velvet's body went ridgid, his head facing the heavens and a tune hummed forth from his lips as he began to sway slightly. "Dear heavens, it's come to me, but I can't say I remember the words to this waltz! But it energizes me! Tell me you know the words sir, tell me you do." He smiled hopefully at Static.
"Wait, wait, I think they are coming back to me. Ahh, how this song makes my blood boil! I must sing it or it'll have me infected for the whole week, I'll be huming it in my sleep!" He paused and feigned dejection but his smile was still mainly there. "Ahh, but I'll be doing that anyways."
Then his face alite. "At least we can fake it." and he set about singing a song he only half remembered.
"Ahh, but perhaps we should find a more appropraite song to sing." He said half dazed after his recitation, it had affected him badly. He was almost floating across the ground with a content expression firmly plastered onto his face. "A duet right? Yes, something more appropriate . . ." But it was little use, it didn't seem like Velvet's thoughts were on any other song. A small humming tracing the other watlz still issued from his chest and he took small dance like steps around the stage.
Static shook his head.
Ah, but it seems your heart is set on that waltz my friend, and thus you should sing it, or hum it whichever you desire. I am more than happy to watch, it will not hurt me in any way to not join in.
Static took a few steps away and began to hum the tune of the song aswell, he knew it well enough to join in quietly. He even partoke in a few steps of the waltz quietly, whilst keeping his eyes on Velvet.
"It is too kind of you and too very selfish of me, but I feel I must take your suggestion to heart, for my heart will not be satisfied any other way." He laughed again and took up the note. A soft attempt to mutter the song and then he burst out in a full tenour voice. He sung the song as he had heard it though, sung by a soprano, thus there were many times he barely made a note or had to change key, but his voice was good, not great. With practice he could be a decent tenor, most likely a background singer but never a great star.
Finally satiated he threw back his hooves and breathed deeply. "Ahh, I don't get out enough Static, it is times like these, THESE moments which add depth to my craft, meaning. He returned to where Static stood and gave him another smile. "Now, I've been selfish enough what do YOU wish to sing? Solo, duet? Whatever it is take the chance, this stage won't be empty forever and there is no place a voice sounds better, than on a professional stage." He gave Static an affectionate clap on the soulder. "What's it going to be friend?"
Static smiled softly.
That was amazing my friend, you truly put your whole heart and soul into that song. Why it gave me goosebumps.
He laughed warm heartedly.
Now I would sing for you if I didn't have a concert on this very stage coming up soon. Performing on it now might be a little greedy.
Static peered through the curtains on either side of the stage.
Shall we go back stage and see the props and such, we mightn't get another chance to Velvet I'm afraid.
Velvet's smile was full of sarcasm now. "Ahh yes, 'greedy'. Not fear of course, I wouldn't assume you were afraid of singing your heart out." But his eyes were kind and sparkling with good natured teasing and his soft laugh echoed forth again.
"Sure, let's take a look around, I'd love to see everything we can before I have to head back. " Velvet paused for a moment. "I know I asked you part of this question before, but I'll make it slightly more specific this time: Do you know the names of any of the operatic soloists that perform here? I like opera well enough, but I admit that my true pleasure lies in hearing the vocalists sing, I wouldn't mind the removal of the acting."
Velvet tilted his head, his eyes on the curtain. "Either way I'll be sure to come here every now and again." His eyes suddenly catching hold of Static's "Shall I look for you here? Or is this only a temporary roost of yours?"
Static laughed at his teasing.
It's not a very well hidden feature of mine, my anxiety, but I do put up with it well...sorta. As for knowing any of the opera singers, I'd have to say no. I'm only aquatinted with the owner of the Opera House. And for the last question, this used to be a tempory roost of mine, but I find myself here more and more these days, so looking for me here may be your best bet. If you cannot find me here, look around Ponyville for an 'Auto-Shop', it isn't what it sounds like, that is where I live with my room mate Diesel Spark, so if I am not here you will certainly find me there.
Static walked slowly through the curtains to the backstage area, it was rather dark aswell, only a few lights were lit. Static made an effort to open his eyes wider than usual so that he did not bump into, or break anything.
Velvet began to follow, until he pulled out a small crystaline pocket watch, after a quick 'polising' with his shawl he shook his head sadly. "I'm sorry there, new friend but this watch is telling me I can't stay a moment longer. I have a rather important meeting in the morning and if I go there looking disheveled I may lose a potential publisher." He shook his head in appologetic melancholly.
"We'll have to continue this tour another time, AND. . . " He pointed a hoof at Static, in the gloom. "I expect to hear some singing." Laughing, he saluted Static, fixing his fez once again and replacing his mantle, but only after he had reached the front door. "Take care!" He shouted and then he was away, dissapearing into the darkening horizon

It was noonish, Velvet had just had a very successful meeting and was feeling even more dejected than ever. After finally getting out of the building with pats and congratulations, he decided on two things: First, he was terribly hungry and would do anything, even some petty misdemeour, to obtain a cranberry and sap-sadwich. Secondly, he decided on returning to the opera house. He really hadn't had a real look around, the small taste had most certainly intiruged his palette.
He strolled down the street, today he had a fine suit underneath his mantle. But even with his thin shawl, the chilled winter breeze froze him to the core. His eyes once again landed upon the Pony-ville Opera house and he wondered. Surely they carried refreshments and even meals. He shuddered with cold and distaste. "It's going to be costly, but I bloody well have the money . . . now."
So once again, Velvet entered the opera house but this time HE greeted the warm air. A happy sigh escaped his lips, as he threw the mantle about him. "Yes, this is where I want to be, at least for the moment."
Static was sitting quietly next to what looked like the concession stand, he was holding a glass of water in his hooves, it was nearly empty but Static didn't show any desire to fill it up. When Velvet entered Static's face was gripped by a warm smile.
Hello there my friend, fancy seeing you here again!
He placed his cup on the table and got up to greet his friend. He still has a smile on his face though if one looked hard enough it would be clear that behind that smile hid a strong pain. He held out a hoof to Velvet.
Velvet didn't bother with the preliminaries, his face suddenly darkened and he passed Static's hoof with his own, continuing up to his shoulder where he applied a soft pressure, slowly pushing Static back into his chair. "What's the matter and don't try to conceal the fact you are feeling BAD, I can see it quite plainly in your face."
A strange pensive melancholly came to his face, a suprizingly natural appearing expression, despite Velvet's 'quick to smile' personality. He turned only a moment to the bar-tender. "A sap and cranberry salad sandwich and some pomegranite, please meisure." Then his full attention was upon Static.
"Now you have a few options here, mister. You either tell me what's bothering you or you force me to leave. Becaues if you let me stay that implies that you half want to tell me and I'll force it out of you in the end, no matter what methods I have to use." He let out a small sad smile. "So, let's let you get it off your chest sooner and save us both anxiety and depression."
Static nodded lightly before picking up his glass of water and finishing it off.
I've never been good at hiding my emotions, but I think you've gathered that. As for the problem, it is something that happens annually so it is not new to me.
He took a deep breath and placed a hoof on the table, knowing that if he didn't tell the whole story, Velvet would surely know.
When I only had just moved here to Ponyville I was quite lonely, I didn't know anyone. After a while I eventually met a pony called Heart Thread, she was quite amazing if I do say do myself, in short I fell in love with her hard and fast my friend, it was sweet, she had only just moved here herself, so we learnt about Ponyville together of course. I'm quite an anxious fellow so she was a god-send. But unfortunately she got very sick, and died on this very day. That is why i seem so sad, but it's okay believe me Velvet, I will feel fine tomorrow. I came to the opera house today to drown my sorrows in music.
Velvet's face was passive, neutral, then he slowly shook his head. "Painful, that's what life is, obstacles to overcome, but we also have our pleasures don't we?" After musing this outloud, he looked at Static thoughtfully. "I don't like how you termed your dealing with her death . . . 'drowing your sorrows in music'. If anything I'd recommend embracing that pact you had and learning from the experience, but not to mourn over it endlessly. Sorrow can become an obsession like anything else . . ."
Here Velvet's eyes broke into a compassionate gaze. "But this is a rocky wall to navigate, and with these words you must surely think: I'm insinuating your mourning is nothing but a pointless waste of emotion. That is wrong. I merely suggest you learn from this experience and let it become a portion of you. Don't try to hide your sorrow, embrace it and try to understand it but don't embrace it for the simple act of sorrow." He clutched Static's shoulder affectionately. "That simply leads to degeneration of the mind."
Then his sad smile came back, removing his hoof and crossing both in his lap, he sighed out: "But it is only a suggestion, everyone deals with sorrow differently, I just hope you'll use it as a source of insperation." He turned his attention to the waiter, who had brought his sandwich and drink. "Thank you meisure, please leave it here." He passed over several bits. "Feel free to keep the change."

Static tapped his hoof on the table absentmindedly, his smile was now more genuine and he appeared to be thinking over Velvet's words.
Velvet sat eating his sandwich. Looking at Static in a calculating way. "Hmm, well, either way I'm going to head into the auditorium, I'm interested in hearing some of this music." His eyes sparkled in humour. "Since this is an operatic house." He chuckled. "Do you know if there are any operatas being performed or opera? My small bout of singing brought on quite the urge to hear the REAL thing."
His normal smile had returned but his eyes continued to hold a sad watery quality. "Would you like to join me, or would you preference be to remain here?"
His eyes caught hold of the door the auditorium lay behind. "Quality music will raise my spirits, but it is different for Every-pony, isn't it?" The question seemed fairly rhetorical, his expression was far away again, delving into distant shores beyond the sunset.
(Yes, come join us if you want! I think I may make a temporary OOC for this thread . . . because, I for one, cannot stand writing any kind of Out of Character in an RP game lol. I think of these games as conjoined stories and I really don't like to mess up the 'flow' or 'consistency' of a story.

Static laughed to himself, he thought it was rather amusing the way Velvet's mind never seemed to shut off.
You're lucky, you came at the right time today, an Opera practice has only just started, and even though they call it a practice, I find it hard to distinguish from the real thing at this point in time.
Static looked at his empty cup and threw it away into a nearby bin, he looked around while Velvet was eating, he had noticed that the Opera House has been quite empty in the last couple of days, he really didn't mind though, he liked the peace and quiet.
Velvet's eyes flicked to the bartender as he stood up. The pony was very well dressed and he obviously enjoyed his job. "Tell me Static, from what I've seen . . . it almost seems like all the shows here are free! Is this house only funded by investors and the government?" Static looked around at the fine decorum. "It seems a very extravagent hall to be paid for only by ponies who are willing to donate their bits."
He shrugged at the empty entrance hall. "Have I come on bad days or is this place usually as deserted as it seems now? Whatever the case I'm very happy to have an establishment like this in Ponyville . . . but is it economic?"
He sighed and smiled happily. "Art begets Art, I'm sure this place will be a source of insperation for me. Nevermind my questions, I'm sure I'll find the answers in time and if the place is run by donations. . . I'll find a way to contribute some of my own capital. Now, shall we?" Wrapping his mantle around his shoulders, a casual tilt of the head indicated the door to the auditorium.
Well when it's only practice it's free to come along and watch, but it may cost money to see the real thing. Though I've been to real concerts that we're free and concerts that were not. I guess it's up to the owner and the ponies preforming, though I do think that maybe ponies pay to use the stage, that is just an idea of mine but it makes sense.
Static got up from his chair and smiled kindly to the waiter.
They might get money from the bar aswell of course.
And as for if this place is often empty? Yes, it only gets filled on nights when there are concerts and such, but with that being said there are a few regulars aswell who come in their spare time, I guess I'm one of them.
"Hmm . . ." Velvet absent-mindly pulled out a deck of strange cards, a variaton of the once popular tarrot cards, but this sort no-pony had ever seen before. He played out a set of 12; two rows of six. "Well, my friend, this certainly is a comfortable establishment. I could easily see myself stopping here, now and a again."
Velvet's eyes were on the waitor now as he turned over the cards: III of Cups; VII of Swords, inverted; The Queen of Wands; The Empress; Judgement and then the Ace of Wands. Velvet's eyes showed mild interst as he studied the cards and constantly looked up at the bartender.
"Would you humour me, sir?" He called to the bartender. "Would you be willing to look at these cards and tell me what they mean to you?"

Hmm...cards, they're pretty peculiar looking, where did you get them Velvet? They look pretty rare.
Static eyed the cards more closely but he did not say anything else, he was showing an interest beyond his years.
He turned to watch Blaze and Jenzy walk in.

Jenzy greeted the two ponies.

Blaze then asks, What goes on in the Opera House?
Velvet chuckled. "I'd say they are! Not valuable but rare, this is the only deck like it on this planet, my good friend made them for me." He hugged the remaining deck to his chest. "They are very personalized cards, so I can often discern what they are saying, though of course . . . that doesn't mean anything." He half-laughed.
Then he heard the entrance of a few ponies and turned to greet them. "Oh, hello, now we have quite enough for a party." He said with a sarcastic smile. "Will you join us, fellows? At the moment we were just debating the upkeep of this house, but you needn't worry, we've moved on to more . . . interesting matters." He peered down at his deck of cards, a strange, almost weary, smile on his face.
After a moment he gave the new-comers a happy, almost carefree, smile."So, will you join us?"

Well today there's an opera practice going on at the moment, and I was my friend Diesel is coming soon to help me practice a song, but it's nothing extravagant.
He smiled and turned back to Velvet .
Jenzy thought of it for a moment. He knew that he wasn't really that busy today, and was just hanging out with Blaze.

Blaze looked at Velvet and the cards he's holding. She then asked,
So what's with those cards you're holding? What's their purpose for the thing we're doing? o.O
"Hmm, their purpose . . . well that's an interesting question. I'd say their 'purpose' would be entertainment." He chuckled half heatedly. "Some say they help read your fruture though . . . which is of course a lot of hog wash." He added a little slowly.
Turning the deck over in his hands, he put all the cards he had just delt out back into the deck. Allowing his hand to rest on 'Judgement' before sliding it into the center of the deck. His face momentarly settling on a pensive expression.
But as he looked up at Jenzy, his face brightened once more. "For our purpose, we'll say they are for an entertaining possibility of what may come." He nodded. "How's that sound?"

So we're playing a game of cards or what?, Blaze asked Velvet.
Static grinned.
Well that cleared it up for me aswell Velvet, and I'd like to say your friend did a good job making those cards, they look phenomenal.
Velvet chuckled, putting away the cards and replacing them with an ordinary deck. "Do you WANT to play, madame?" He gave Blaze a sly look. "I'm more than willing to play a game of cards with you madame but what would we play and how?" His grin turning evil. "Gentleman's rules or up-front cash?" Then his face broke into that charming smile, once more. "Ah-hahaha, oh but I bluff, how I bluff! I'm not a lucky pony and I've never been a dishonest pony." He laughed to himself again, his mirth filled eyes darting to the ceiling. "I hardly even gamble!"
Velvet threw his mantle back again, reveling a thin book chain, strung to his fine trousers, revealing: A small gray book. This, Velvet pulled off it's chain with a flourish, producing a crystal fountain pen from the depths of his mantle at a similar moment. "Heh, this inspires me, friends, let me jot something down here . . ." Velvet set himself to scribbling in his book. After a few moments . . . it looked like he had gotten lost in his words.
Blaze replied, Hmm... Maybe... Uh, Jenzy?
Jenzy chuckled. Heh. Maybe. I have played these games in the past with some friends. It'll be fun...
He smiled.
Blaze asked, What do you mean by those rules? We actually have to pay Actual Bits?
I'll pass on the game of cards, Diesel should be here soon and I've never been good at card games unfortunately.
Static looked towards the door and saw a stocky, blue unicorn making his way in with a guitar slung over his shoulder.
AHHH right on time.
And Velvet seemed to be drowning in his words, he'd probably be occupied for quite some time. Whatever he had been working on had completely taken hold of him. . .
Static turned back to Velvet Scribbling in his notebook.
Uh I'd hate to interupt you Velvet, but care to share what you're working on?
