Title: How Good Are My Songs?
Post by: Kable732 on 2012 Dec 11, 01:01:28
Okay, so I've made a few songs without lyrics and such and I've never got a full on opinion of what others think of the work I did. So what I'm asking is for you guys to check out my work and tell how you think it is! Took me a while with some things, but anyways here's the link: https://soundcloud.com/kable732 Just listen to a few and post a comment. The ones I really want you to hear is: Cito Percursa, Signaled Siren, Makeshift Melody, and Tranquil Memories.
And one more thing, if you guys have any lyric ideas for me, I'd be glad to hear some. Because sometimes when coming up with lyrics to some of these songs is quite hard for me.

I'll be honest with you here, I didn't like most of them. They didn't sound good to me at all, and they felt like random crappy video game background music.

Only ones that got my attention were Tranquil Memories, which was alright, and Cito Percursa, which wasn't so bad either.

However, I'm not feeling happy-go-lucky as I usually do, I'm rather moody at the moment, and that may be causing such a negative review.

I'm sorry if I sound too harsh, usually I wouldn't.

I will say two things though. Others may very well like or even love your pieces. One negative review means nothing.

And... You certainly have potential, if I do say so myself. Keep at it, you'll get better.

I actually thank you for your review, because if I get a bad review, it'll help me on what I can do next to make it even better. So thank you for commenting and posting a review. I also can understand that you've been in a bad mood and I can deal with that, I've been a bit under-the-weather myself.

I'll try to give you a proper review for each song once I'm feeling better. :)

There not bad I do agree with Julius's theory saying they sound like game BGM but thats not bad thing per say, I will admit some biest because I do prefer songs with Lyrics because it gives it something to follow per say. However they are worth a listen personal things aside I think Tranquill Memories is one of the better ones and I see why you recommended it and   Rave in the Grave was one of the weaker ones, but I can still appreciate the effort put into creating these and time comments and practice will only improve so keep it up   ^-^

Alrighty, here is my review for each song.

Cito Percursa is well made, and I see nothing wrong with it. I really don't like it that much just because it's not the kind of music I usually listen to. It's only a matter of personal taste with this one. :)

Tranquil Memories follows the same lines of Cito Percursa, not bad at all, yet not my kind of thing. I could see myself listening to it regularly in a video game though. It would fit in a MMORPG for sure. :]

Now we get to the negative side...

Makeshift Melody is just terrible to me. It sounds like a generic background song that you'd find on a crappy RPG. It doesn't feel good, it doesn't get my interest, it's simply terrible. It doesn't... Have a soul you know? It feels dead. It feels as if you wanted to do many things at once, yet you didn't know how to do them. The result was a horrible mess of sounds that didn't go far with me. :/

Signaled Siren... This one started good for sure! I was liking it! And then you changed it at the twentyfourth second. Bad move man. This change made it suffer the same fate of Makeshift Melody, it became another lifeless piece that sounded bad, and made me feel nothing. It's like a song you'd find at a disco in a bad GTA style game for the iPhone. :c

Rave In The Grave. Again, the same problem. Lifeless, generic and no feelings. Not much to say about it.

Erudio Euro gets mixed feelings from me. I completely dislike the first minute. That first minute again suffers from the same problems as the other songs... However, that changes after that first minute... This change made no sense with how the song was going but I'm glad you went that way! That bit actually sounds good, and you could make more with it, I am sure of it! :D

In the end, you certainly need more experience. Most of your songs suffer from the same issues, and you should be careful with any new songs so that doesn't happen ever again.

However, I can see that you have potential there. You proved you can do things right with Cito Percursa and Tranquil Memories and I am sure you can do songs like that again, so... Keep going man, you can go far! ^-^

I am sorry for being too harsh the first time, I wasn't feeling right. Hopefully this time it's better and you can see where I'm coming from!

Good luck!

Oh, this is all too great! I thank of you noth for helping me recognize what I can do better. I feel that I can make songs WITH lyrics this time, only if I knew how to make good lyrics...  :P

But anyways, I'm going to get back to work and hopefully the next time I post my songs, they'll be even better than these ones. And I also was kinda going for this techno type thing, but I mostly prefer a symphonic form. I find it more peaceful. So thank you guys and good luck to you too with whatever.  :D
