Y'know, discuss games like Counter-Strike, Portal, Team Fortress, Garry's Mod, and the pinnacle of First Person Shooters known as Half-Life 2.
There's also a very wide variety of mods (both single and multi-player) flying around, and more in development as I type this nonsense. One worth mentioning is Black Mesa Source (http://release.blackmesasource.com/) which is still in development, but has had a demo released that covers about 90% of the whole game. I've played it and was blown away.
I love those games, but you forgot one. Day of Defeat! Realistic firing, realistic hits. It doesn't take a hundred bullets to stop somebody, just two.
Half Life 2 was a perfect FPS, and the puzzles were actually challenging :D
