Title: Fancy, long, rarely heard, confusing, odd, or uncommon wording?
Post by: Captain0Ron on 2012 Nov 01, 20:58:31
Anypony know any fancy, long, rarely heard aloud, confuzzling, odd, or uncommon words they wish to share?
Any word works, preferably english, but its not a necessity.
For example: floccinaucinihilipilification which means Rare. the estimation of something as valueless :]

"Droll" isn't that fancy or unusual...  :s

Anyway, in before someone from TVTropes says "sesquipedalian" (pertaining to big words, basically.)

He fixed the title. See it now that there's a new post without a quote from the previous title?

Well this thread may have some indubitably interesting and rather quaint phrases that dare I say perplex that of regular thought in language oh dear I've gone all smart talking this will not end well

If we're gonna talk uncommon words, the first things that pop to mind are the various Yittish phrases that are a part of my common parlance. But, yeah.

CAPTAIN DICTIONARY IS HERE

Obfuscation = making something unclear.

Anyway, uh... how about "heterodox" or... man, I'm not good at coming up with these on the spot.

So BEHOLD! Luciferous Logolepsy! The ultimate repository of fancy, long, rarely heard, confusing, odd, and uncommon wording! I guarantee that almost any given person won't know 90+% of these. Heck, some of them aren't even in most dictionaries. :D

Here's a good one: "eructation" = belching.

Ah polymers, yes they can be quite the tongue-twister.
Did you know a tongue is a Muscular hydrostat.

Here's a really long word
antidisestablishmentarianism.
Means like against politics or something.

Me and my friend were walking down the street , and we got lost.I saw a guy who looked like my friend so I went , and
poked him behind his head((Don't ask we do that sometimes.))Then he says
"Stop that you buffoon."
To which I replied with
"Don't call me a rarely heard insults you rapscallion." to make a joke.

So yeah buffoon , and rapscallion are two rarely heard insults.
