I know Thread Games and Jump-Ins are awesomely active, they usually are. My question is, whatever happened to the rest of the forum? Used to be there were hundreds of hundreds of posts and active threads, now it's like everypony just... isn't really posting all that much. Maybe it's just me?
I agree with this. I don't post much, but this forum is getting a bit quieter. Maybe its the silence before the storm, or its going to have a daily boom soon.
Is it just... school? work? falling of the leaves? everypony nervously awaiting S3? TF2? some game I don't know of?
I know a large number of RPers are with Galvin on his Skype pathfinder RP, and a few others are in League of Legends, but seriously this is just strange.
It could have just been a surge of activity from the Stress Test before it closed. It will probably be active again in the future. I bet activity will also rise when season 3 comes out. ^-^
I've been semi-lurking, and watching lots of videos on Youtube.
I know the activity shot up when the stress test was here, then all went back to normal, just new members. But, usually posting would be alot more, but now its quiet.
I don't post...much.
Too depressed to make any real posts.
My do guess that it's mainly that just this time of year is quite, well, bleak, and everypony have something to do with their own time.
And I do admit I'm currently lurking here, but my main reason for that is that I feel that there is no topics I dare answer to, that I've not already posted on that is. Another reason for my inactivity is that I've been here so long, and everything have changed so very much.
Quite frankly, there is few topics that have been opened here that is not sensitive, nor quite boring.
That the next season is just around the corner does not quite help on the activity here either, where spoilers are not very quite permitted, I say.

Some of us are still holding back on posting about sensitive or controversial things. I mean, one of my passions is rather controversial here in the USA, so I haven't really said a single thing about it here.
Another reason I never post is because my posts go unnoticed or get deleted by admins anyway, and I usually fail to see the point in posting anything. The fact that I even posted this is mind-boggling to me.

I also do admit, I'm holding quite the bit back, as I'm quite sure that if I spoke my mind on most the topics I have an opinion on, then I would be shot down quicker than I could post again, due to my opinions being rather, well, atypical.
Another thing I have noted, which is a homebrewn theory in essence, and also might have been formulated by some clever mind which I do not want to know of at the moment, is that for a topic to be interesting it have to hold a relation to oneself, one example is the 'wonderbolts/blue angels' that opened, while I deem the title of it interesting, I also myself have no knowledge on these blue angels, pardon that I took a direct example it's something I would have avoided, but I did so need an example for this.

You surely posted this to be noticed Which did succeed, least to me it did, but also a piece of advice mister, is that while evereypony wants to be unique, special, and such. It all have a root in being noticed, and I've long ago realised that I have all the attention I could ever need from those friends I made here, and other places.
The best way to be noticed is to find those who might stay loyal, listen to their trouble and try and help with that as well.
That's just some of the wisdom I've gathered trough these last few years, and it did take quite the while till I found it to be true, and even still I feel unnoticed, but usually that lies on either myself craving too much attention, or that those I can speak to are simply not there at the time.
Yes I just went on a quite long moral rant which may be completely wrong and is to be taken with a grain of salt If I am wrong.
Well, you've obviously made more friends than I here. I've made maybe five good ones, and even then I never get to talk to them because of timezones and school and such, and even then there's only a few things we can talk about that doesn't step over the line of them not caring. If I've learned anything from being here, it's to expect people to never care. Trying to tell someone about something they won't care about, it just makes them hate you. That's my experience, anyway.

I'm sure that's not the case here... x3 or at least, only with a few of the members. I'm sorry to hear your experience has been so... poor with some of the other members in the past. :(
It's been the case with me, anyway. It's actually gotten quite a few members here to hate me, and a few of them go out of their way to ruin a lot of my posts. Not saying names.
Welp, we're quite off-topic now. Time to count down the seconds before ol' McSleuthburger comes by to lock the thread up.

Well, I have only made very few real friends here, bouts some 5-7, but those I've made are the best I've had, at times one is unlucky and meets one who does not care for others than themselves, but also one must take care not to become that pony.
And you know, more often than not, it's speaking about it as openly this forum is, that makes it harder to gain solid friends, as one might need to show much more psychological strength and durability than is actually there. I've more than once stood on the brink of depression, but I would try my best at only telling my closest friends about it, and otherwise keep my face clean of negative emotions.
Also, if you need to talk about something with someone in private, then you can always talk to me, I'll listen and I promise on my everything that I will not tell anypony about it.
But again, I must say I'm sorry for trying to help, and give this clearly bad advice, but I can not help but doing it when I can try. Pardon that I care about you. >.<
But yes, I must apologise for straying offtopic, I will now proceed from this post on, with just lurking untill anything shiny catches my sight.
*sigh* so everypony either was here for only the stress test, or aren't posting because of overly-restrictive forum rules, well, that's too bad. I hope that things change in the near future, but if not... well, I don't really have anywhere else to go... I guess in the long run I'll be one of the last ones around, in any case.

That wasn't bad advice at all Travius, you do have to find the friends who are loyal and the actual loyal friends will care and respond to what you say. It's not always easy either. I've actually made some friends in the server you hosted or well I consider them friends. ^-^
Some people also may not be able to tell if you want to be their friend or not sometimes you have to flat ask them to be your friend,
and sometimes I'm too shy to ask people directly.
On the subject of posts being ignored sometimes people just can't think of anything to say or respond to those posts it doesn't mean they were being ignored. In fact Zaner the dumb things that annoys you topic has the most posts in the off topic forum and you made that topic, I've actually had a lot of fun posting in it too.
ok prepare for wall o' test
@Zaner if you have questions as to why something of yours was closed dont be afraid to ask why if it is not stated
this will go for most, I know at least for me when it comes to moderation
If nobody speaks up, then I figure it is fine
IF YOU ASK A QUESTION I WILL ANSWER
as to the sensitive material / off-topic stuff
There is a reason we dont want to see it, I know most members would just want to see a friendly talk and explain different view points, but remember everyone we are on the internet. There are always people that will get too offended/ are very sensitive when you dont agree with them. (its human nature/troll) Topics can get heated and people can react in ways they wouldnt normally do. Remember we are a CHILD-FRIENDLY site/game. I know most of the users here are older and used to the controversial things but WE DO HAVE YOUNG MEMBERS and we have to take account for all of them. The best way to make sure people dont do stupid or ill-advised things is PREVENTION. It may not be the prettiest thing in the world, but it is alot easier than waiting for most topics to just develop into something that is stupid overall and have to be taken care of later in a messy manner (because in all honesty, I dont have faith in most of this community to keep a topic going without some members taking a topic and changing it into something completely different that has no point) basically they turn it into a waste because I and the other mods have to go through and read everything and that is not always easy. I would rather stop something and have a couple people upset with me than waiting until somebody post something that has nothing to do and a larger problem occurs. People might post for the sake of posting and not to add something to the conversation. I've played the game on the forum where I wait on a controversial/sensitive topic to see where is goes and every time the topic goes into something that has nothing to do with the original discussion.
I understand that most people dont like my decisions when I lock or delete a topic and im fine with that, all im asking is that you respect my decision and live it with. Again if you have questions about something ill be happy to answer.
Any questions or concerns pm me

I notice everypony who posts or hangs around enough on the forum. Also why don;t you change the avatar Zaner? You have it since I first joined EO.
Driving school is taking a lot of time from me.
Also I prefer to read and post when I have to post.
I'm not going to leave this forum -.-

I don't have a reason too, mostly. I was going to change it to a picture someone was going to make for me, but surprise surprise, they had to cancel making it.

I'm still wondering whether the lack of activity is due to the recent members being mostly "hi bye" drive-bys.

I'm horrible at drawing. >.< Or else I would probably help out as well. Regardless, there's a reason for everything. I'm not going to go around and stalk every single pony to know why they aren't here or there. That's just creepy... Also, McSleuth hit the nail on the head there.
Hay there,
just to add my 2 bits... ;)
Speaking for me within the week I'm out for work over the day. Usually I posts in the evening when I'm back home again (and I'm not every evening at home). Then after work I often feel too tired to keep up with new topics or even add new ones myself. Keeping up with the threads I've already posted on keeps me busy enough and the thread games are a nice thing to do in between while doing other stuff. Then there is that timezone problem. There are some ponies just coming to the forum when I'm leaving to hit the hay, so writing with them is hard. And then there's a whole list of stuff I want to do too that's always getting longer and longer. ;)
@Zaner-Boy:
I've noticed quite some of your posts. And even some I really thought I should answer to. But then I've more than once been there and didn't know what to write to not give bad advice or something... Hope you don't get that wrong or something. I'll try to get better with that, I Pinkie promise. :D Though don't be upset if I won't answer too often as at least for me this forum already has much more traffic than I can handle. ;)
I've been trying to be as active as possible, but I can only get on on the weekends :c
It's a game forum first, so when the game(development) is quiet the people are looking for a replacement.
That replacement is background or origin of the game, in this case the show, but as we all know, that's still on hiatus.
Another replacement would be the Thread Games, Off-Topic and RPs.
And as you mentioned yourself, those flourish quit nicely.
What I myself noticed is that a lot of people here also have either a low self-esteem or a lack of interest so they won't always post
about every single thing that happens to them, though there are 2 threads for the good and the bad, which might be enough.
Keeping a personal yet viewable diary isn't the intention of this forum, that's what blogs are for.
As for the drive-bys, this is a great place to get the latest news, but the forum-life hasn't chosen them, they have things like
Twitter an Facebook to keep them up to date, they have no use for this part of LOE.
I'm also at a Belgian/Dutch metal forum, 5089 registered users, let's say 20 of them post regularly.
Oh just got an idea / request that might at least help me to participate more in new posts:
As I mentioned I find it hard to keep track of new threads. So it would be nice to have a way to subscribe new threads (not new posts) or to ignore certain threads / boards I'm not interested in to reduce the noise for me. That way I'd recognize interesting threads more easily. (Not sure there are plugins or something for that though...)
As for controversial adult topic, yet still not obscene.
I have an idea, don't know if it is possible, but how about a Board with a computercontrolled age-system.
Unseeable to guests and everyone who is below *insert adult age* were other things could be discussed.

Or instead of having to pointlessly waste time to make a section programmed to make it appear to certain ages every thread could have a bar that says the age you have to be.It also doesn't have to ban young people from seeing it just warn them.Lets say an Rp wants to add minor bleeding , and wounds. They add [13+] to the title. That way if a child still acknowladges minor bleeding, and isn't afraid'of it can join. Not only is it easier , and fair it would be the persons fault of clicking even though it clearly says not to in the title.
Ah, I'd been wondering this myself. I thought it was because of school and all that though, so I didn't bother asking.
Judas explained everything amazingly well. :)
I for example do not go to those boards that are active often, and I think I only checked the Roleplaying board when I first joined and Magus asked me if I roleplay, which I do not.
I check the forums everyday though (Thanks for making them so iPhone friendly guys!), and I reply to whatever I feel like replying to, though I do not do it just to reply, I do it because I care about the topic or the current conversation in it.
As for making posts myself... There's really not a lot going on for me to post really. I'm not shy and I certainly don't have low self esteem, it's just nothing comes to mind. I may find myself making an Off Topic thread when I go to Aruba though, to share everything about the trip with you guys! ^-^
About the "Adult Boards" suggestion... It doesn't seem like such a bad idea yet, I don't really like it much. Guess I stand on neutral grounds about this one. Though, being the very curious guy I am, I want to know what Chishio was talking about. lol
To finish off this post, Zaner, my man, your posts never go unnoticed by me, I'm serious. As others have said already, it's not so bad! Give me a smile, will ya? :D
I'm cray cray and have to post everything I think if is appropriate or not!!!! ovO

IMO-SLOW, REALLY!?
I love how active this forum is comparing it to my clan's forums. There hasn't been a post in my Server Admin section in 3 months, Clan Leader boards in 4 months, Clan member boards in 1 1/2 months, and I have Competition subforums that haven't been posted in for 1 Year and 8 months. I've been searching for active forums because of this...
The inactivity has gotten to this point

I'm having a proper conversation with myself.....
Interesting question. Well i generally tend to stick around a-bit of everywhere, though i ususally happen to be around the forum games section, video games, My Little Pony: FiM Show Discussion, Pony Off-Topic, and Arts. Though to answer the real question, i am not really certain where everyone is... though i generally only post when i feel it is needed. X3

It is not that I don't love Luna, I love Luna, but give me some of that Bright Celestial Sun you know? :]
Heh... Well I am a gamer at heart really. I've been trying some new games out, cutting off any and all remaining accounts I have with Blizzard, and am just not that talkative X3
Until the game is out you may not see me much, though having now switched over to LoL completely as opposed to WoW I should have more time to give to posting here :D
And wow Julius... I think we may need to find you something to do lol
What... Why? lol
Oh crud.... my bad. I had thought that you were the one talking to himself on a forum by mistake. Gah... Months of working until close and I am still not used to being up past 10pm.
Oh, it's alright.
And that's just LCS being Pinkie-Ish. Nothing weird with that am I right Laptop? lol
It is sad to see the forum being less active as it used to be, though I doubt it would ever be completely dead. There are many ponies here who are keeping certain parts of the forum active.
I've been neglecting to log on for a while, being busy. Even when I found the chance to post I just wanted to lurk. I will try to be more active however, as I hope others do :]

I'm trying my best to come and post something on this site but I been way to busy. Mostly due to my work schedual is now rediculous. I use to work 6 of 7 hours a day but now our computers is doing the shedualing and it teriable at it making me work 8 or 4 hours a day. Also I be working by myself for 4 or 5 hours when were busy and they will schedual too many people at slowest part of the day.
Always lurking, but very rarely post anymore. Not much reason to, since so many people have given me reason(s) to avoid them.
I can't speak my mind here in the way I normally express my thoughts due to the strictness of the rules (something that cannot be helped; the rules are there for reasons and I understand that). That's what I have the site-which-will-not-be-named for to talk about pony-related material in ways I can convey them, along with discussions that aren't extremely biased (saying something negative about the show here, regardless if it's constructive criticism or just pointing out you don't like something, will get you attacked by at least 5 other forum members...).
I've been way too busy to partake in anything requiring constant attention (Thread games, Roleplaying) due to classwork, MMO addictions, and friends/family. I can't keep my Innocent vs. Corrupt thread game alive, I can't keep up with roleplaying, and discussions become too deep to allow my opinions.
And besides, (almost) all of the friends I made here I have outside contact with.

100% a problem here.Every time a person has a different opinion on a matter that is mostly loved everyone goes "How could you hate it?Why are you here if you don't like it?How dare you point out the flaws of a material that isn't godlike , and will most likely have flaws!" I really don't like people that think its a MUST to love everyone , and everything else because there is a lot of things wrong in the world , but apparantly not liking whats wrong with it means your not acting like a brony somehow. That should change.

Totally agree. part of "Love and Tolerate" involves tolerating (well, accepting, i think) the opinions of those who disagree with you. I've never quite understood the idea that we need to be a hive-mind and all think the same way.
but i digress.
I'd post more on this forum, but I usually have no time to really dedicate to it. aside from schoolwork (and in college, thats a LOT...) I've been busy costuming. It's become a new hobby for me.
and TF2. but that falls under "addiction."

And besides, (almost) all of the friends I made here I have outside contact with.
glad you were able to contact them outside LoE too :)

That should change.

that game seems really really popular nowadays :P that and League of Legends, apparently. Maybe that's where most of the members are.

Ryo rant commencing ^-^
Well I do believe I shall way in on this point as to why the forums seem to be well rather quiet recently, honestly I'm under the impression its because the big buzz of stress test weekend, as worn off so pony's are now a bit bored. This point is not assisted by the fact things are becoming well more the same, thread games, RP's and Art are our biggest things ((your free to correct me if you think I'm wrong this is just personal opinion )) however large areas of the forums go unnoticed but this is a rant for another day.
Back to point the forums are mayoralty quiet due to boredom and lack of posting in new and interesting points then after a comment is made say revive a old thread, pointless rage ensues, and because of this threads die and get quiet, causing more silence but my hunches indicate if we are a bit more open minded with posting and try to get interest in some old topics as well as the buzz that will return from the new season starting soon, that may pick up the forums
Personally although this is a compete rant I'm going to look more in different areas of the forums to see if I can get some activity and logical debates back up but now Ryo rant over enjoy

well of course ive already made a bit of a mark in the audio threads next up hmm who knows video, writting hmm only time will tell ovO
Ahh, my friends! :3. Hope you are all doing well and hope this forum will pick up for all you dedicated forumers. Unfortunetly . . . I've never been a dedicated . . . anything, and unfortunetly I suspect this is the same, in some extent, for others, as well. After a time some people pack up and leave T-T. I still pop on, every now and again, maybe once a week or every other-week.
But, as is the way, I've begun feeling like a stranger here, so when I do appear, I appear for moments. A couple minutes, looking at one thing or another, but not feeling too motivated to post anything.
Besides, what would I post anyways lol? As I wouldn't be there to reply to any response I may recieve.
Either way, I hope you all are doing well and let's all hope the forums stay steady and interesting ^^.
I honestly dislike the moderation.Ever since the last auditions everything has been too strict. Some threads get taken down without breaking the rules just because the question has been answered even though they are sometimes discussion threads.Warnings have randomly increased. So i'm sort of afraid to post anything.

This, very much so. How is it that when I post a bug, and everyone starts discussing the bug, does my post get locked up for being irrelevant. It's a bug, I posted it in the bugs section. HOW IS THAT IRRELEVANT?!

To be brutally honest, I have a few choice words I would like to say to express my concerns to the admins, but they'd most likely get me banned from the forums, so I'll keep them to myself.

I honestly hate that.Taking down s thread then telling you to PM is like saying we took your "TV.Call us if you have any questions about it".Shouldn't there be a warning to the thread first?Like post the reason this thread might be closed so that the people can atleast EXPLAIN why it should stay open? The moderation was a reason I started to disappear ever since the last auditions. Also agreeing with Zaner boy this large moderation outbreak made me too scared to talk about other ponies , or say their names.Which is why i'm not mentioning which moderator i'm having most trouble with.
I think we all know who it is, though.
I'm afraid I'm going to counter point a bit ((since I wanted to be part of the moderators before that kind of disappeared)) so I can see where there coming from on certain topics, and on certain cases you can PM them on the matter, however sometimes I shall admit and no offence they can be wrong which does cause arguments such as your own. But again it can be discussed with them in most cases but this rant is off topic and I shall stop here, and i shall round off by saying the moderation team shouldn't be the reason the forums are quiet because if they weren't here then there would be far more chaos
but also dont get me wrong im not saying your wrong im just stating my opinion on the matter

This is on-topic.Its about why we aren't on the forums as much , and the reason is the moderation for some ponies. We are just giving more clarification on to why the moderation is the reason. Also no the forums had no spam , or problems before the last auditions , and it was not strict at all.In my case its a certain moderator i'm having a problem with. Not naming names because i'm afraid I get banned.
However lets end this because I saw some threads end up being closed for questioning the new moderation.
Indeed and to clarafy it was only my segment of the rant that went off topic yours and Zaner were still on topic, I just like to segway rants that seem to fit together into a single point sometimes ^-^
I'm just surprised no admins are here yelling at us yet.
if the conversation becomes a bit sensitive, feel free to PM me, Blues, Zaner, Ryo :] If the mod team and admins are unreasonable, I at least am willing to hear you out, harsh words or no.

I you want I can get some people to derail it for you, that's the moment the mods come.
I was gonna say "It's probably a good thing no mods have posted here because there'd probably end up kind of being an argument here." but then I backed out because maybe I shouldn't say that. >.< And now I'm here because maybe I should say what I think about it. I dunno. I hope it wasn't too negative for me to say that.

Did somepony say "derail"?
Do you like cupcakes? Oh, I love cupcakes! But I also like muffins! Which one do you think is better? Muffins or cupcakes? Muffins have those chocolate chips but cupcakes have yummy frosting! Did I ever tell you how sweet the frosting is? It ought to be really unhealthy but I just can't get enough of it!
*insert more derailing here* ovO

Negative? Do you even know who you're talking to?
Now now, theres no need for a derail even as a joke and I think the modoration arguments should be placed on hold scince if this pace continues your creating the situation you said annoys you and thats more redundent, so if there is no relavent comments I would sugest taking this to another board or private chat ^-^

Not at all, you've just made an observation and stated it.
That's one thing I don't really like about the moderation, it "forces" people to act different than they really are.
Stripping them of some negative emotions, making at moments them and there actions fake.

I swear I didn't call anyone in, it was meant as an example on why threads might close and why sometimes that's a good thing.
Derailing a thread requires a very special recipe..... ovO
IMO-The moderation has little to do with the lack of activity on the forums. Actually, coming from multiple corners of the internet myself, and being a forum Mod/Admin and a game server admin, seeing this level of moderation for a sensitive forum like this puts me at ease, compared to other communities i'm a part of/exposed to....let's put discussing the moderation system at rest, i don't think this is the place to discuss it's pros/cons and it could get this locked.
Ponies are likely very busy right now, isn't there some sort of midterm or something like that at this time?

I think Perry specifically said there was to be no rules dictating by anypony besides mods and admins.

well, besides that. midterms all the time, you know.
There might be a pickup in activity sometime in December around Christmas time. That's usually around the time people get 2 weeks off from school.
Magus im not dictating the rules :l and to be fair Im a little annoyed at the implication, im mearly making a sugestion to the ponys in the thread before your topic gets derialed, I never said i was inforcing it nor did i say anything that was against the rules
That rule is, however understandable and necessary, quite double.
Pointing out something that isn't in line with the rules is moderating, pointing that out is also moderating, etc...
just drop the rule dictating guys we all know its there, no need to go into an argument about that
as for the other subject:
We lock up threads that are answered so we dont have anything stupid come up that there is no need for
if you want discussion about something MAKE A THREAD FOR THAT
We close topic because rules are broken (remember the prevention thing, I close them before they get any worse), most of you know the rules so I feel it isint necessary to post in every thread why it is closed
I tell people to pm me if they have questions so maybe I can add clarification if you are unsure of something, nobody can get in trouble if people just ask questions
instead of just sitting there crying about something, come talk to me so I might be able to help you guys out
and if anybody really has issues with the way I handle things feel free to contact perry
I cry easy :s

Believe me, Mr. Sleuth. You're not the mod that has some power tripping issues...
Sleuth is the 3rdnor 2ed best admin
McSleuth works pretty hard. He might work a little too hard, as sometimes it seems like the job gets to him a little. X3
Anyway, I think the slower activity is actually just a combination of the things we've mentioned. There'll likely be even less activity around Thanksgiving, as the American members will be spending time with family, not on the internet. But there might be a little more around Christmas time, but not during Christmas, since that's when everyone gets a nice long break from school.
i have been playing minecraft X3 its now at 1.4.2 ovO :D :]
I was at school.
BUT NOW IT ENDED ovO
AHAHAHAHAHAH >:O
I am going to school soon. See you all in a couple of hours :D
Wait... if I am leaving in 11 minutes and still have a bunch of stuff to do why did I log on? Curse you brain!
I think ponies just joined so they could stalk the forums till the game comes out which rly isn't a good idea. it might also be work and school. It's good to make rp buddies before the game comes out so u aren't so alone
