-Story-
A few weeks ago Nova used too much power. The result of this is fatal. He lost consciousness after the battle and was brought to the hospital. Nothing was heard from him for a while.
Some of his friends, curious ponies, and others, heard of this events.
What will the doctor tell them? Why did he not return home during the last few days?
Find it out.

Only mild violence is allowed. (scratches, spains and minor wounds are allowed. No blood or open wounds)

The waiting room is cold even with the heaters on at full blast.  It's not a physical feeling, more of an emotional one.  The stark white of the ceiling lights seem appropriate, given the situation.  Some of the ponies there had known Nova since months, others only recently met him, but either way, the situation was just as shocking. The room was quiet, save for the ticking of the clock and the scratching of the hospital secretary's pen.  Each time the door creaked open, several pairs of ears perked up, then drooped when they realized the call did not concern them.

Some lay here and there, exhausted from a sleepless night and unable to cry any more.  Others were pacing impatiently, glaring at the clock as if willing it to move faster.

*Sleepless Night was sitting quietly, cuddling close to her daughter Miracle Dawn, who was on the verge of tears :'(*

For his part, Feather simply sat huddled in his chair, a numb, blank look on his face.  How could this have happened?  What could he do, when even the orderlies have failed?

Arca was also sitting, remaining still, and silent. Her face was a bit blank, and she stared directly forward. She was wearing a blank face, with a two thousand mile stare.

*Miracle fussed to her mom*
Shhh. Quiet Miracle... just wait a little bit... :(

Moonlight paced up and down the hall, restlessly cursing to himself, after hearing from Zappy what had happened.

"And so, with Ahuizotl defeated, and the sapphire statue secured, the world was safe and sound once again. Thanks to Daring Doo!"
Majem closed the book, and smiled at the pony lying in the bed next to him.

"Thanks a lot! I've been meaning to finish that book someday, but..." The earth pony lifted his front legs and smiled weakly. He had casts on both of his front legs and his family didn't have much time during the day to pay him a visit.

The book levitated back into Majem's saddlebag. "It's a pleasure! And it's the last few days. Your legs should be free again tomorrow and you may go for a walk."

"Yes, but I'll still have to spend another week at the hospital." He said happily. Being able to walk again was cheering him up very much.

Majem got up and closed his bags. He waved the earth pony goodbye and checked his list again. "That's it for today, huh? Oh my." Majem walked towards the exit to head back home, but the way out headed through the waiting room where several ponies sat down. The room had a saddening aura to it which even got to Majem. He walked slower and even wanted to sit down, the mood just got to him. Majem sat down next to Feather and stared at him expectantly, he didn't dare to ask him anything yet.

The door to Nova's room opens Dr Kai stands there a stern look on his face he looks around and says in a fairly quiet voice yet loud enough to be heard by all "Family and friends may enter now but do not crowd"  he walks back in the room chart still in hoof

*Sleepless saddled Miracle on her back and they both enter*

Moonlight finally sits down and waits, hesitating to enter or not.

Arca snaps out of it as the normal sounds are broken, and begins to stand, slowly following Sleepless and Miracle.

Inside the room, Nova is lying on the bed. He looks like he is just sleeping.

Aliski walks in with a smile on her face hoping that everything is alright, but when she sees Nova, she tries to stay strong, but she starts to cry softly, then hugs Nova.

*Sleepless walked next to Nova's bed, watching him with a sad look on her face :(*
*Miracle hopped off her mom's back and onto the bed with Nova*

Nova did not respond in any way.
He is in a deep coma.

Moonlight finally decided to walk in but sat by the door with a serious look.

Wh-what happened to him...? :s

Majem got up and followed behind the others. He really didn't want to, but somehow he got pulled in. Seeing Nova lying down in bed made him feel even worse than he already was. He sat down some way back, as to not get in the way of the ponies who wanted to be close to Nova.
"Dear Celestia, what am I doing here? I shouldn't be here. Why? Oh, no, no, no. Leave now." Majem kept saying those things to himself, but he couldn't move anymore.

The only thought running thru Moonlight's head was 'how could this happen..to Nova..of all ponies'. He knew Nova was a strong pony and he looked up to him as if he were like his older brother. Seeing him like this never once crossed his mind.

Moonbeam walked through the hospital doors and approached the desk.. She stood quietly waiting for the attention of a nurse or receptionist.

Aliski, just for one second thought that Nova may have moved or budged, but of course that didn't happen. it was impossible.

Kai announces to the room
"Nova's condition isn't good Medically he is fine all vitals are intact and his heart rate is normal, blood pressure 27 and 43 BPM all is normal, yet he is in a comatose state "

H-how? :I

After a few minutes a receptionist lead Moonbeam to Nova's room. She entered quietly and join the others. She didn't dare look over at Nova.

Arca just stared at the bed, keeping her blank face. Her mind was thinking deeply. [glow=black,2,300]Coma. . .[/glow]

Moonlight only sat and stared at Nova wondering what caused him to be in this comatose state.

aliski had to know .wh-wh-what happened to him? how DID this happen?

Arca blinks once, and something flashes to her mind. She mumbles something, only a few times, and to herself.

Moonbeam looked at Aliski, she was glad someone said what was on everypony's mind.

Arca didn't exactly know what to say, being one of the first hoof witnesses of what happened. She started to get a bit jumpy, and stepped back a bit.

Arca pursed her lips, continuing to listen to the doctor.

he can't use magic?! Aliski thought it was unfair because, even as a landpony, she could use magic because her magic bracelet.

Moonlight listened intently knowing exactly what he was talking about.

I'm no unicorn...but doesn't it recharge...or something...?

Arca slowly walked over to Moonlight, and whispered something. [glow=black,2,300]"You were there, right?"[/glow]

Moonlight whispered back Only for a short time but I don't know what happened afterwards

[glow=black,2,300]"I'm pretty sure he over-exhausted his magic using a spell..."[/glow] She whispered quickly, and then soon returned to where she was.

Moonlight looked back at Nova and wondered what would cause him to do such a thing.

Aliski heard some whispers wondering what message they contain, but of course that was none of her buisness so she stayed quiet...

"Well in normal situations his mana would recover, because on a normal unicorn the energy recovers after an extended rest however this doesn't appear to be the case, something is preventing is mana energy from recovering and we are still running tests as to the cause"   

Oh my...you don't think he's gonna... >.<
*Miracle begins to tear up, hugging Nova tighter :'(*

Arca gulped, and remained silent. She waited for what the doctor had to say, and she shifted her weight to her right as she had a worried look on her face.

Moonlight sat there with a concerned look and hoped that the answer wasn't what he was thinking for Sleepless and Miracle's sake.

"well we have tryed but the paitiant doesnt apear to be reacting to normal mana treatment"

"Well there may be one thing that could help this is strictly off record ok" Kai shuts the door "there is an herb it's known as the starflower blossom it's a near extinct herb which has the potential mana medicine though its existence is questioned but it is possibly one of the few chances Nova has I'm sorry"

Arca's face went from a normal blank face to a sadder face, filled with concern and worry. As she hears of the flower, her face brightens a bit.

Moonlight stood up. Where can the herb be found?

*Sleepless picked up Miracle and hugged her tight, trying to calm her down*

ever since Aliski found the bracelet on a train track, it has always been a goodluck charm. she turned to Nova, took off her bracelet, gently placed it on his right hoof, and whispered "good luck, we will find it"to Him

Arca slowly looked around. Her enlightened face turned blank after a while, with the doubt of the flower even existing filling her mind. "If something bad can happen, it can, and will happen." Those words rung in her head like a bell was in there.

Nopony had heard the quiet pony in the back, but as they turned they saw Feather Scroll staring at the doctor in shock.  "Surely you must be.... but you're not.  Celestia, Starflower.  Mtia uzima.  If you think those are the only viable means of healing now, then we might as well go finding the Tree of Life itself!  Do you know how much one of those things cost?!  Even a single pod?!"

He looked at the others' questioning eyes and sighed.  "Nopony has any idea what I'm talking about?"

Arca turned her head to Feather, with her own relatively sharp hearing, she responded. [glow=black,2,300]"Uhm.. I don't really.."[/glow] The young mare said. She actually didn't have a clue what Feather was saying.

Does it matter what they cost, compared to saving Nova's life...? >.<

Feather increased his volume a bit.  "It's not just the monetary cost, the pods themselves are nearly impossible to get without serious injury!"

Mtia uzima, a Zebracin plant whose name in Modern Equestrian means "Life Giver", is a parasitic Jewel-Plant which feeds off of maisha-mwizi, Life Taker.  It is immune to Maisha Mwizi's sapping effects.  The two are almost always found together in thickets deep within the Everfree and the Zebracin Desert.  When the jewel-like pods of Mtia uzima are cut off and opened, the liquid life inside may be used to heal any wound, restore health, reverse aging and even perform necromancy.  Mtia Uzima has been called the "Tree of Life", though a more apt description would be "bush of life" since it rarely grows taller than a few hoof's height off the ground.  The immunity to Maisha Mwizi has yet to be replicated consistently, though immunity armors are known to exist among Zebra Alchemists, some worth as much as a trillion bits per piece.  Mtia Uzima pods are highly desired throughout the world, and there is a thriving black market for stolen pods.

Additionally,

Maisha-Mwizi, a Zebracin plant whose name in Modern Equestrian means "Life-Thief", is an omnivorous Jewel-Plant which feeds off life itself from other creatures.  It saps life force from organisms in contact with the plant, although the Jewel-Pods need direct physical contact to initiate the sapping.  Interestingly, the Death Thickets of the Debracin Desert are actually full of completely intact remains of various long-extinct animals, due to the sapping effect removing any bacteria which might otherwise decompose the bodies, creating a nearly sterile environment.  Regardless of the risk, Zebra Alchemists are known to venture into these Death Thickets wearing Immunity Armors in search of the plant's rare parasitic cousin, Mtia Uzima.  The pods are highly illegal in Equestria, and extremely desired by assassins and government agencies alike.  There is an enormous black market for these pods."

"I know what they say about being willing to lay down one's life for a friend.  But I'm asking whether each and every one of you would be willing to take that risk, and potentially make that sacrifice."

Aliski was in Awe of the knowledge of Feather, when she noticed Moonlight's anger, she quickly grabbed her bracelet back and whispered telepathically to Moonlight""relax. he is only tring to help, if were going to find these flowers we have to know what risks come with them"

Moonlight started to doubt everyone's want to save Nova other than Sleepless and Miracle then was about to walk out until he saw something glowing in Nova's vest. Moonlight reached in and checked the pockets.

Vick broke out of a (box, drawer, crate, ect.)

Kai looks about the room keeping reasonably calm checking the equipment in the room

It is a small book. As moonlight takes it out it becomes bigger and an empty page opens.

"Magic is intrinsically tied to a pony's life force.  Reaching out with magic is essentially the same as reaching out with a part of you, from which the Maisha Mwizi would then sap your life.  The only way it can be harvested is physically, and then with all the risks associated with coming within range of the plants.  But, if you are willing to take that risk for Nova... then I will most certainly take the risk myself.  All I wanted to know was whether you truly understood what you were getting into."

Majem was still hiding away behind the other ponies, not making a noise as to stay unnoticed. He had listened and understood everything being said, except for the small whispering conversation between Moonlight and Arca.
"So, everypony but the scholared one is in some way befriended to this pony. And by the sounds of it, this'll be one dangerous trip." Away from sight, he smiled for a moment, then returned to his neutral expression. "I'm all ready."

He looked up when the others mentioned a book, but he knew already that he couldn't decipher anything. Instead, he looked over at Feather.

Aliski was kind of angry at the book for saying that someone specific was worthy of the knowledge, Nova is, after all, our friends.
then the thought came to Aliski, that book is reading my mind isnt it? if my bracelet can read minds, there is no doubt that that "all knowing" book can read our minds too

Ironically, Nova was send to extinct this flowers a year ago. But you are right in one point. While the flowers may not grow anymore, some with various needs obtained some of them before nova arrived.

A guild of thieves obtained some a while ago.

The book is right about one thing. There doesn't need to be anymore meaningless bloodshed over such a thing so I support what Nova wanted to do.

what is it? do the seeds of the good flowers contain the bad flowers as well or something?

As he hailed a taxi to get to the hospital, he smiled slightly at the little lunchbox bumping along in his saddlebags.  Juniper was a busy salespony, but she always had time to make him something special for the day.  It was one consolation in these recent few days, what with Nova in an almost-incurable coma and all.

Arriving without incident, the unicorn hurried up the marble steps and took the swiftest route to the intensive care ward, using his identification papers as a researcher to get him through a bit faster.  It wasn't exactly what the papers were meant for, but today all he wanted to do was see Nova's face again, even if Nova couldn't see him.

*Miracle stared at the book in Moonlight's hooves. her horn began to glow*

Kai checks his watch "If you would excuse me, I have a small matter to atend to, Ill return shortly"
Kai heads out the room and to the main reception area where Feather is filling in forms

Can we find out where he's been maybe?

"The book said "the relic" was the creator of life, so i was thinking looking where I was born, and then the poem said Nova could have  guided us somewhere, mix those two thoughts together and what do you get? You get one question. Where was Nova born?!" Aliski is exited for figuring some things out, if Logics were a subject in school, Aliski would get an A+ with extra credit.

Sounds...right. Then...how do we find out where he was born...?

"Let's go to the library, see if we can find out anything about nova's past."

Majem happily skipped into the hospital, ready for another day of helping out the sick ponies. He had forgotten about Nova and the deadly lifebringer plant, until he saw Feather and the Doctor at the main reception. The sight of Nova, the magical book, it all came back to him.

Majem slowly approached the two ponies to ask them about Nova. "Hello, doc. How is.." Majem then realized that he doesn't know Nova or any of the ponies from yesterday. "... he doing?" He continued, with a serious change of tone in the last bit of the question. His eyes switched from the doctor to Feather, hoping they wouldn't question him about Nova.
((You guys didn't move, right? I don't think I've seen a post saying you moved from the reception area.))

"Good morning to you, the patient is still in the same state as last night, no changes or abnormalities"

Majem's ears flattened after hearing that. His worry of getting caught turned to compassion for the other ponies. "And, have you ever had something like this? I mean, do you know how long he can last like that?"

There have been cases of  mana infuctuations before this case seems different ,but his vitals are stable and the IV and feeding tubes are keeping him stable, but as for when he wakes up, I cannot medically say  

"It's best we get that flower, then?"

After a while, the door to the lobby opens, and Arca steps in quietly, looking around. The only thing she had brought was a custom built saddlebag with her cutiemark on it, a shield, and wand. It looks jam packed with stuff.

*Sleepless arrives back at Canterlot station with a pair of saddlebags. Miracle is on her back as always*

Arca watched the filly, and remained silent.

Majem sighed, too. Annoyed by his rude behaviour. "But, how did you know all that stuff, yesterday?" He placed a hoof in front of his mouth after he asked the question.

Feather pointed at himself questioningly.  "Myself?  Or the doctor here?  I'm sure he is quite a medical professional well versed on potential cures.  As for myself, I hold a doctorate in inter-magical forces and have been studying alchemical spell components as a part of my research for the past few years.  Rare though it is, and according to a certain resource of questionable reliability extinct, the Starflower and its deadly cousin are not exactly unknown among thos who study such things."

Feather walked into the intensive care room, his eyes immediately going to Nova's still body on the bed.
