Title: Moondrop
Post by: Rika_of_Thunder on 2012 Sep 18, 13:31:44
Finally made a ref for this character, whee~! Moondrop here was actually the very first pony oc that I ever made, back about five years ago when I was first starting to get into the pony scene. Originally, she was a G3 pegasus but I made her one of the G2 magic-winged unicorns because for one, I like G2 better than G3, and two, they're pretty!

I guess technically her wings are "optional" but tbh characters with optional body parts always kinda bugged me, so I'll probably always draw her with them unless I just feel really lazy.

Anyway! Moondrop here lives in Friendship Gardens, on the other side of the Rainbow Forest and away from the main village. She love astronomy and specializes in magic and spells that deal with the stars.

She's very soft-spoken and prefers to be by herself than with other ponies, though she does like to invite her friends with her to go stargazing (said friends will have refs on here sometime in the future, hehe~).

She lives in a cottage made from blue stones that has an observatory tower attached to the side.

Please note that winged unicorns in G2 are not the same as in G4. In G2 most all unicorns (and even some earth ponies) have magic wings that appear and disappear under certain circumstances, like Twinkle Star's wings appear when someone makes a wish on a shooting star, and Dainty Dove's appear when there's love around. Moondrop's wings are always visible, unless there is a new moon, in which case they vanish.

It's a good thing you explained how wings work in G2, otherwise I would've believed she was an alicorn. I don't know much about anything other than G4, but I really like how you describe this character.

She'd fit right in with G4, if she ever made the attempt to.

Thank you!! Haha, I figured that. Even among most collectors G2's probably the least popular generation~ Not to mention none of the G2 unicorns were even released in the U.S!
