Title: Lucid Dreams
Post by: Slicy on 2012 Aug 15, 14:14:42
LUCID DREAMS

Soo, I'm back here with my own tips and tricks which are kind of useful to people who are interested in subject  ^-^

Let's start everypony!

1. REMEMBER your dreams (normally, people have about 5 or even more REM sleep (Rapid Eye Movement - in this moment, brain is more active and we have clear dreams))
a) everywhere we can see the only method is to write down your dreams after waking up. This is kind of true so you need to do it
b) talk to your mind when you relaxed before sleep. Tell it that you want to remember your dreams. You need some imagination so you can come up with your own idea about sentence
c) this is my own theory - probably true but I had no test subjects who could confirm this
  - everything in sleep is in YOUR mind, if you are sleepy, you have choice of moving your real arm or your mind's arm
  - so, I came out with idea that if you need to REMEMBER your dreams better, you can practise it even when you're woke up, through remembering things which came out in your mind
  - how? My first idea is to observe (in beginning something simple) something, close your eyes and try to rewrite it in your mind. When you have this in your mind try to draw this in paper using only your mind. When you're done, compare your drawing with this thing. REPEAT :) (I chose candle with fire on it, don't sure why)

2. Okay, so if you can remember some of your dreams, you can now start to practise :)
a) the basic thing is ability to distinguish if you're sleeping or not (in sleep it's not weird that Godzilla gives you birthday present). How? Clog your nose with your hand and try to breathe :) If you're breathing - it's amazing feeling to sense hand which clogging nose and air flowing through it simultaneously. And it's mean that you're dreamming. This is called Reality Test (RT). And this method gives you 100% sure about where you are.
  - But how to do it when I'm in sleep?
  - Well, some people saying that you need to do RT all the time in reality. Huh, this makes sense but... I don't really support this method.
  - I prefer to be conscious, because CONSCIOUSNESS IN REALITY = CONSCIOUSNESS IN DREAM (which means lucid dream).
  - How to be aware of where am I?
  - You just need to think. Sometimes consider whether you're asleep or in realty. After few moments of reflection, do RT. Because I think that frequently doing thoughtless RT's all the time is... It's just less effective than my method.

3. So you know how to distinguish reality from dream. Also, you know one method increasing the chances of a lucid dream (being aware). There is more:
- wake up after 6 hours of sleep, be awake 1 hour (the best is to read a book in this time - to awaken your mind but not body)
- or just take a nap - similar effect :)
- There is more methods but we don't need them this time - they are hard and better to experienced dreamers :)
- Oh, almost forget. To increase chances of a lucid dream, do something like in remembering - just relax and before you fall asleep think that you remember your dreams, that you are aware and want lucid dream.

4. Language of the subconscious. It is VERY important - helps you in your pre-sleep affirmations and is really important if you want to CONTROL your lucid dream.
- avoid denials
- avoid subjunctive (especially "I would like...")
- indicated indicative (lol, it sounds ridiculous in english :D ) (you can use imperative if you prefer)
- don't lie to yourself! (it's really important and I discovered this point after half of year of experiments)
- self confidence and full faith in your words

5. Ok. Now, when you are in lucid dream - what to do?... You can do everything, but only if you control your dream (It's like mind control - you can use this tips to control your mind. I use it to control other's minds too, but... This ain't good because most of people using this for bad things.)
a) Firstly, use language of the subcounscious.
b) AVOID talking with projections (people, animals, thing, ponies) - these can easily weaken your consciousness and contribute to it's loss.
c) Do RT always:
  - when you woke up,
  - when you changed your dream (or teleported, changed room etc.)
  - when you have at least minimum suspiction that this is dream
d) You have to be calm all the time. Buddhist peace. If you're stressed or too excited that you've achieved LD, you're going to woke up. First LD can look like this: "dream, omg! No! I can't be excited or I woke up, aww, now I'm stressed because I can wake up" end. Tip: think about something else. About your purpose. Oh, yes:
e) PURPOSE :) - you need to know or write down things you want to do in your LD - it's not necessary, but positive.

Ok, we're goind to the end. Last point is for:

6. Creation (note: you must be self confident and BELIEF in what you're thinking):
a) laws of physics are just your *habit/custom* (sorry, I'm not sure which word to use - as I said, I'm foreigner and know english only from books)
  - If you want to fly - just do it, you can. You must believe that you can. Jump off the ground and fly. Or make your wings :)
  - HINT: you are magician and you know all spells in the world - use them :) Trick with magic almost always work in my case :)
b) creation of people/objects/places:
  - the best create is behind doors, your back, around the corner or other not actually visible place
  - creation from scratch really doesn't work often
c) teleportation/change of dream:
  - Rapid spins around your axis and visualizing new place/situation. When you stop, you're there. (I think it's best method)
  - If you want to have other, random dream, you need to confuse your mind - go into the mirror, put your finger in a wall or something :)
  - DO RT ALWAYS WHEN YOU CHANGE DREAM OR HAVE JUST TELEPORTED

Okay, I think that's enough. For start...  ovO
Now everybody - you can write there your questions or something.
You can send to me private message, too.

Please forgive me any language mistakes - you can post what I wrote wrong.

Ach, and last thing: 1c - I need you (non-experienced people) to test this method  X3

A good way to remember your dream long enough to write it down is to stay laying in bed as soon as you wake up and go over the dream, visualizing it, as if you're telling yourself what happened in the dream. A lot of people start quickly forgetting the dream the moment they sit up. I'm one of those people.

So, I have to visualize and describe the dream to myself in my mind at least once or twice, more times if I wanna make sure, and then I'm able to remember it after I get up, so I can write it down.

After all, I've tried telling myself stuff before going to sleep to get my brain to do what I want. It sometimes works, but a lot of the time, it doesn't, especially if it's "I want to wake up at (certain time)" "Don't wake up until morning" "Wake up before noon", that kinda thing. :c

I don't want to go to another world to do stuff, I just want to sleep  DD:

I'm just going to wait until this is possible  ovO

...especially if it's "I want to wake up at (certain time)" "Don't wake up until morning" "Wake up before noon", that kinda thing. :c

1st is subjunctive, 2nd is denial, 3rd... is kinda right.

I have tip for you: try to visualise clock which is pointed at time when you want to wake up :) I often waking up 1 minute before alarm.
And important is that you have to have enough sleep time (like 8-10 hours).

Oh, and try to put notepad and pencil under your pillow so you can write without standing up. Or get phone to write it even without opened eyes :D
And it's VERY IMPORTANT to NOT look around. Especially at the window!

I don't get why people say you can control your dreams with practice, or how you would know if you're getting better at it or any of that stuff. I've never had a dream that wasn't lucid, I just remember them, and I've never had any amount of control over even myself. I just watched from my own eyes. Never doubted I was awake either, all due to the nature of my dreams. They have extremely strict internal consistency, but other than that they're off the wall random.
So yeah, I don't get any of this dream control stuff. To me, it's total nonsense.

i have to quote that ^

I love to have nice dreams, and i try to remember them, but it's not easy. But a thing that i have never had is control in my dreams.
Your mind just do what she wants, and you just have to watch and experience  DD:

The point is that I really hate when someone or something controls me. I want to live my life on my own rules. So I control myself, my mind, my dreams and my subconscious. You have no barriers in your life that you can't get through. Most people are just too lazy to believe in this.

"...Before it was cool."

I tried to use lucid dream powarz to get out of a nightmare this morning, but it didn't work. I flew around for awhile, and tried to change the setting, but the undead kept chasing me.  :c

Hah, undeads cannot hurt you :)
If you're believe in this, you can just stop, hug him and teleport to another dream :)

And, Larry... I haven't seen any topic about lucid dreams...

Everypony just wants to repost everything Lary posts.  o.O

Anyhoof, I love lucid dreaming, I do it quite often actually, I've never really had to 'practice', it always came naturally. But if these training steps really work I think everypony should try, it's a very fun experience.  ^-^

Good God, how should I know that long time ago WAS some topic about that? I haven't seen it.

Anyway, it's my methods and I see that they're DIFFERENT than Lary's, so... Why do you suspect me of plagiarism?

Lary's method is less healthy alternative to WBTB (Wake Back to Bed - means you sleep for 6 hours, be awake 1 and then back sleep) + normal WILD (Wake Initiated Lucid Dream). My method is mostly expanding our consciousness, some about controlling your dream and your own life.

And I am outraged that you think I have a time machine, checked that somepony that I even don't know posted something and I was like "WHOA, I MUST DO THE SAME COZ HES SOOOO COOL LOOL". I. Am. Not. Retarded.

e.e Please don't get so angry, I was making a joke because this is like the third time he has said "I already posted this." I did not yell at you, or attack you in any way, so you should not be 'outraged'. I did not realize making a comment would upset you so much. Nevertheless, I'm sorry if I offended you, but that does not give you the right to get so upset with me.

I just had the best idea,

If your having a lucid dream, go to bed and have your lucid dream have a lucid dream and repeat  lol

Going to sleep in your dream makes... that you have another dream :)
And no, it isn't then dream in a dream. It's just an another dream which probably isn't lucid (if you're not sort of advanced :) )

But it would be so awesome if at least half things of "Inception" movie was true :)
