I used to play Mabinogi. It was really fun. I have since taken Maplestory over Mabinogi, although I will try Mabinogi once again, maybe later today.

(Also a good way to get back on your feet is merchanting after you do the new tutorials they added you can get level 50 in like a day if you do merchanting between NPCs which is really good for AP.)

I used to play this but I stopped. I've been considering rejoining...but there wasn't a whole lot there for me last time. It was pretty fun, though.

I think most people stop because after a certain point it gets kinda of uninteresting for a while. Like when you get to a certain level (say 40-50 for new players) it starts taking a lot longer to level up and obtain AP, not to mention the fact that you can easily reach these levels in a couple of days. Then you've got 3 whole weeks (Or more depending on how old you are) before you can rebirth unless you buy a character card. It's just grinding until you have every skill fully trained for it's level waiting till you can rebirth again. As for veteran players, they tend to just get bored. The patches are sometimes messed up, and the players tend to be pretty rude (well, from my experience on Alexina, a lot of them are jerks). The only ones who really stay at higher levels are those who have spent some money on the game. If anyone else does, it's usually because they have a guild or friends whom they really enjoy hanging with.
A lot of people quit because they find another game they enjoy (The most popular I know of is League of Legends, it seems a lot of Mabi players are going there :x)
I think most of it has more to do with socialism than anything. If you make a friend with someone who likes to do something, you're more likely to enjoy it as well, right? Unless you're one of the few who goes lone wolf 24/7 (Like me) and spend most of your time ranking your life skills (Doing stuff like planting a BILLION herbs on your homestead then spamming potions or collecting a BILLION cobwebs to rank weaving by just one level) you probably enjoy hanging with people. Commerce isn't as common as it should be, (Lots of people see it as just running around) but if you get with a group of 5 or more, it's really fun just walking down talking (And trying not to be attacked by bandits ^-^)
Anyway um... I lost my point....
Mabinogi is more fun if you do things like commerce with friends, especially if you get a 3 hour music playlist and the flim flam brothers song starts playing randomly during a commerce. but yeah the game is way more fun if you work together on things with people you know rather then the random users that are often not fun to play with on Alexina, sometimes you do find good players though that don't troll randomly. :c
They have a Halloween zombie event going on currently even though it's not Halloween, but it requires 4-6 players in a party to even do the event.

I HATE this event. The Zombies glitch often and it makes casual play of it almost impossible. it's basically come down to the "Pro" and the "Speed" runs... I liked the Pillow fighting event! Who doesn't love a good pillow fight?
I don't like the event very much either. Three of my friends who are over 2000+ Total level and I can't even get past the 3rd round.

I also have Mabinogi. I am not that high a level however. I only got it recently, and then got distracted by rewatching MLP, Farcry 2, replaying Portal and Portal 2, replaying Fable III and baking cupcakes.
And seeing how I couldn't convice anypony I know to join, I couldn't make any progress with the Goddess quest-line. So I just ran around trying to find an axe that is good for wood cutting and combat.
I play as a giant alchemist called Qwote on Ruairi, but I also put quite a bit of skill points into magic.
I think after some update they had you can solo the G1-3 storyline now and it doesn't require other players but other players make it a lot easier.

I find that balancing alchemy and magic allows for a sustained elemental barrage. The alchemy helps you keep the barrage up while waiting for Eweca to rise.

Between my characters I've got 45 base herb and 35 mana herb patches on my homesteads. The potions are never an issue for me :3

I play as a giant and elves are my enemy according to the story-line, but I don't really pay much attention to the species.
A lot of people hate elves because they stereotype all players who play elves as arrogant egotistical people just because a majority of Trolls played elves when they first were released and hardly anyone played giants, it's kind of annoying since I like playing as an elf. They aren't as bad as melee as some people think because of their mana pool elves make great tanks and falcon transformation increases that tank ability, and also melee fighting ability. A giant will still beat an elf in damage but because of how Mabinogi is designed your combat style mainly affects how well you do.

Ah I see. Kinda sounds like people QQing over necromancers in the game, Grand Fantasia I play. People don't seem all that friendly in the Mabinogi forums. o.O
Yeah the Mabinogi forums is not a fun place to be it's mainly full of Trolls 90% of the time from what I've seen when browsing it theres usually an argument over one thing or the other.

Well if they are still the same way they were since I last went on the forums people start arguments over stupid things derail topics with random pictures usually troll each other etc. I haven't been on the forums that often lately so I have no idea how much it has changed or not. But I checked and found a topic of a giant player wanting to take down elf players. o_o
I only checked the Alexina server part of it though, I have no idea if the rest of the forum is the same or not as I tend to avoid that place for good reason.
note to self... continue to ignore the mabinogi forums...

I saw that guild I was tempted to join it as my human character named Applejak. ^-^ But ended up joining my friends guild instead since she needed more people before it would let her and her friend form the guild.

Sadly... It doesn't work!!!! The exp from the banquet ISN'T doubled :(. Come to think of it, the exp gained form having the merchant destiny isn't doubled either. Whatever, I had fun getting refining from f-5 today xD
I got 2 or 3 paladin ranks today from the banquet, at least after rebirthing my character which was kind of cool, I dunno if I'll use the double rainbow event although fighting ancients will give you massive EXP during this event if it's combat exp that's doubled.
