Simple as that... Your in a grocery store getting stuff for yourself or your family, or your just their to see a specific stand that always has what you need, even when you don't need it... Strange isn't it?
...You come up to a store that's fairly simple in style and the sign "for sale" is always out, and when anyone approaches the stand, their will always be a specific thing that's precious to them that 'could' surely help them.
... But that precious thing comes with a high price. ovO
I'm not gonna start of course! lol when someone comes up to the stand then I will! :3
Fresh out of supplies after his last exhibition, Blazing Legend finds himself at a grocery store. "For sale?", he ponders, looking at the sign that read the same. But, upon seeing that their were no other indicators to the store being closed, quickly exclaims,"Looks open enough for me.", before going through the front door.
*Suddenly a gypsy Dragon Pony named Mayfly jumps up mysteriously from behind.*
Mayfly: Hello stranger! Welcome to my store of rare items, collectables, and others. What do you need?
A puzzled look comes across Blazes face, he's not used to seeing kirin in the city. But nether the less, with manners befitting the well-seasoned traveler he was, quickly regained his composure and answers Mayfly's question. "Well I was looking for non-perishable foods, as well as some canvas' and ink. But if you wouldn't mind, I'd like to take a look around to see what you've got."
*Mayfly walks over to the stand*
I have what you need of course, but you can look around. I have things large and small, skinny and wide... I'm also a fortune teller, but that's another story :3
*She sits and reads something that's not from around here.*
Blaze begins exploring the store, becoming quickly captivated by the products from far away lands. After a minute or two Blaze finds himself in the book isle. Upon entering he instantly spots a large atlas bearing symbols completely alien to Blazing's extensive knowledge. Intrigued, Blaze grabs the book and pulls it from the shelf. As he does so a folded piece of paper drops down from beside the atlas and onto the floor. Concerned that he may have damaged the paper, Blaze pushes the book back into it's place and inspects the paper. The paper is yellowed with age, but doesn't appear to have been damaged by the fall, relieved Blaze decides to investigate the contents of the page, and unfolds it to reveal a map detailing an area unfamiliar to Blaze. Deciding to purchase the map, Blaze look back at the shelf for the peculiar atlas, but finds it is nowhere to be found. Perplexed by his current situation, Blaze decides to give up on the mysterious atlas and takes the map up to Mayfly along with the other supplies he had gathered.
Find everything you needed?
*She looks at the items he has, and notices the folded paper along with the items. She smiles and returns her gaze back to Blaze.*
"Yes, but I can't shake the feeling that I'm missing something", Blaze says in such a way that it was obviouse that he was thinking on the subject even still.
*Mayfly laughs*
non perishable foods? a canvas? ink? a book on how to survive a quest that I know about...?
*The last part she said in a whisper*
"Hm?", Blaze sounds in question of Mayfly's last words. But wanting to get on with his day he dismisses it and chooses instead to pay for his goods and get back to his work. "Uh, never mind. So, how much will all this be?"
I don't know. Do YOU have something valuable that you can give me? ;) I give others my stuff, in return for their stuff. So what'll it be?
"You don't accept bits? Well I'm afraid that I don't carry much else, but if you'd accept a gift of knowledge rather than that of physical being, I'm sure I could muster something that would interest you."
*She thinks for a sec before muttering something about 'usefulness', than speaks up*
I'll tell you what... If you can get what the folded map tells you, and bring it back to me without losing your life, then I'll give you something even more valuable than the treasure. ;)
"Well then I'll take my business where it is wanted, no reason to risk my like over a couple jars of jam and some canvas", Blaze quickly responds as he nonchalantly makes his way towards the door in an exaggerated fashion.
But that map you got their is mine, and I'm not accepting it back since MY book is gone. So since you was nosy enough to LOOK at it its now your responsibility to get that treasure. Unless you want something else, of course it would be costing you something of great importance. ;)
*She stands up with her hoof over something, but it is clearly hidden from behind the desk as the front door and windows slammed shut, and candles lit*
Taking a deep breath after having the door quite literally shut in his face, Blaze turns around to Mayfly and growls at her, "I demand that you release me at once!"
*She laughs, but then calms down...*
Alright....
*She unlocks the doors... The golden knob on the door mysteriously turns purple, and she smiles wickedly.
ok, have a nice life! oh and remember, follow the map! ;)
*She puts a sign on the desk saying "out to lunch."
'Follow the map? Bah, she can keep the tattered thing. To taurtarus with it!', Blaze thinks to himself as he's just about to touch the doorknob. But just before he does, Blaze sees the change in color and quickly retracts his hoof. "What's this?", he questions aloud while carefully inspecting the color change in the nob. Any other pony might have fallen for such a trap, but Blaze has seen his fare share of devious traps and reasoned that his keeper was just trying to ensnare him again, or worse. Now looking for some other means of exit, Blaze goes up to the windows and try's to pry them open.
*Another Dragon Pony appears from the back door.*
Vanity: What are you doing..?
Turning his head to the new onlooker, Blaze's expression goes from determined, to surprised, to fear, as the thought, 'Oh no, not another one', races through his head. Finding no words to say, Blaze relinquishes all of his manners and crashes through the window in order to escape as quickly as possible.
if your trying to escape from my unfortunate sister Mayfly because of the task she gave you than your out of luck... Look outside and see where you are at... Were in a forest.
With the newcomer being far less aggressive than Mayfly, Blaze feels more open to gloat. "Well sorry to disappoint you, but I'm a master of navigation and I don't see any possible way you could force me to find whatever it is that the map led to."

I'm not forcing you, I'm going to help you out of here, but the only way to do that is that you need to find what she told you to get... It's not dangerous by any means, all need to do is climb a mountain and fight a dragon...
"Being teleported into the middle of nowhere, I can deal with. Traversing the Canterlot Caves without a source of light, I can deal with. A dragon however, I cannot. I'm a cartographer, not a warrior! Now if you'd please, I now have to figure out where in Equestria your sister sent us so I can go to a civilization that won't try and pit me up against fire-spewing Taurtarus-spawn!", Blaze exclaims angrily as he makes his way into the woods.
*Vanity doesn't stop him, and just stands their*
The dragon that you are stereotyping isn't like that. If you have heard of Relic, than that's who you are going up against, but he might just give you the item that Mayfly needs and bring you back, otherwise you will not be seeing anything like a town for another month or so if your traveling on foot. Relic is a nice one, and he doesn't fight for bribery...
"Well if he's so full of flowers and rainbows, why don't you go get it?"

"I neither wan't nor need your help. If anything, this is an excellent chance for me to fill in more blank space on my map, and create a top selling book about being foalnapped", Blaze says while continuing on his way into the woods. But Blaze is stopped in his tracks as he has the distinct feeling of a third pair of eyes watching him. Quickly glancing around at the foliage, Blaze shouts, "Reveal yourself!", at whatever he assumes is watching him.
((I have to go offline for the night now, but I'll be posting again in appx. 7 hrs. Also I should've mentioned this earlier but Blazing Legend perceives the landscape in three dimensions. So if, for example, diamond dogs were to attack him, Baze'd know they where coming by the tunnel they create as the burrow through the ground.))
*A little Dragon filly pops up happily*

Blaze's right eye began to twitch as his sheer annoyance with the constantly increasing number of Kirin. "Another one?, he questioned with clear annoyance in his voice.

"I just need some non-perishable foods and parchment", Blaze says before giving a quick look around at the store's shelves that surrounded him. "But if you happen to have any unusual maps lying around, I;d certainly like to at least take a look at it."
Mayfly: Maps? I have a bunch of those! I have some that take you to other places that are not in Equestria. And some maps will lead you astray forever... But all that aside, i'm patient, so take your time.
"You speak of magical maps that take one not only across vast distances, but also between realities? That I highly doubt."
Some are hard to pull off, that's why the maps are so hard to find you nosy pony ;) but if you really wanted one then you should go and pick which one you want, I think I have 5 left it seems. A purple alicorn with a purple baby dragon came and took some. ;)
Taking a moment to think over Mayfly's offer, Blaze comes to the conclusion that he would be at no loss for humoring the idea of these magical maps. "If you're so confident, then lead on and prove what you claim to be true."
Oh no Blaze... I can't do this for you. You need to find out on your own what these maps do. I only know them as very powerful and hard to find. I have also heard that Alicorns use them to test their own weak magic abilities. But you, smart as you are, can clearly figure it out right from the bone. Always go with your gut feeling... Or not. lol
"So you expect me to buy a map with teleportive capabilities, without any foreknowledge of where the map leads or if it will take me back to where a came from? I like adventure as much as the next pony, but what you propose is suicidal."
The power of adventure! Now you don't have to buy a map or anything, it's just a suggestion for an adventurous pony like you, who would probably take risk. Who knows, you might find something great if you follow whats on the map. Now are you going to buy something or what? I'm patient, but I don't like wasting time... Wait that contradicts my other statement! hahahaha! lol lol lol

Match takes on a confused expression at the seemingly destructive manner in which Mayfly navigates her storeroom.
*She turns her duster around, and a gust of purple swirls around the duster, and behind Blaze where the items fell, a small dragon filly is being levitated off the ground*
Mayfly: Glassy! your going to pay for whatever you've broken! these are RARE items, not toys!
Glassy: I'm sorry! I saw a cool board game with letters and numbers and a magnifying glass on it!
Mayfly: A Ouija board? don't mess with that, unless you want to be cursed forever! *looks at Blaze* Sorry about that, you can continue searching. hehehe X3
Blaze raises an eyebrow at what had occurred, but otherwise he stays where he is, waiting for Mayfly to return with the maps.
Alright! here we are! *she drops them down next to Blaze* they were in an abandon shipyard, so that's why it's all dusty. The owner didn't want them, so he gave them to me! 3 of those maps will take you to another location that's not in Equestria, but it's next to the places such as the Dragon Pony territory and the Industrial Tyranny, where I am from. But... the last 2 are maps that will take you to another dimension, possibly another world. these need to be read carefully, because once you do it wrong, will not recover from the damage, or you might not come back... heheheheh!

Plus if their as dangerous as you say, I'd prefer them to be under my care, than in a store where any pony with two bits to rub together can pick it up."

Blazing follows Mayfly, unfazed about entering the dangerous Everfree forest. "Your sister lives in the Everfree forest?"
No, she just goes their doing her little paranormal activity stuff. She speaks to ghosts and feels their emotions, that's her talent. So she goes here because theirs a secret graveyard, and only me and her (and later you) know about. :] Doesn't that sound pretty amazing?
*The Everfree goes darker*
"I've seen every square inch of the Everfree, and I've never seen any sign of a graveyard," Match replies with skepticism.

*she and Blaze walk off back into the dark part of the everfree. Vanity slowly turns her head at them leaving*

*Vanity comes over and takes the map from Mayfly, opening it up. purple mist comes from her hoof as it lands on the map, revealing the correct path to the "treasure."
Mayfly: Look who changed their mind... :/ why?
Vanity: So I don't have to see you for some time...
*She goes back*

"You know that I could have just read the map for you, right?" Blaze says, beginning to walk the path laid out by the purple mist.
Mayfly: Annnnd that's Trick #1: it may seem easy, but once you follow it, you WILL never come back! unfortunate isn't it hhmm?? it may look easy, but you specifically NEED a path, not a shortcut, and not a long way. That's why I got well... er, changed Vanity's mind into showing us. ;)
"No shortcuts? Well, you're the expert in these things, I guess." Blaze says semi-jokingly, noticing the large amount of unnecessary twists and turns.
Mayfly: Expert? I used one of these maps before with you know who(Relic). I of course got lost because I took a stupid shortcut, so he had to get me, and I never finished the mission. hmmm... I can't quite remember what that shortcut was, it would have helped, i mean... we are using the same exact map that I used a long time ago.... ovO so... Where do we need to go?
*she looks and see's a large grey lake picture as their first destination (I'm making stuff up here lol )*
Mayfly: OH YEA! I remember! I took a boat and sailed it across that lake, but... I couldn't do that. Strange isn't it..? ovO

ok! Here we are! I remember this lake had something that caused me to quit, but idk... so, let's not make the same mistake that I made, and lets find another way... And no we can't go around it! well you can't anyway, cuz theirs quicksand. I could fly, but I can't see... this is no ordinary fog, it's like were in another world... heh.

Detached from the ground, Blaze becomes frozen in a state of fear. P-put m-me down!, he stutters in his terrified state.
((FYI Blazes 3D sense only works when he's touching the ground, so flying or taking boat rides basically take away one of his most vital senses. An unpleasant experience for one such as himself, though one he can endure.))
