The castle lights seemed ever so distant as Finders Keepers locked his shop. Checking the lock and giving it a nice tug, he made his way upstairs. It was odd, having been a merchant for over a dozen or so years, that such habits as taking out his fake teeth had become second nature.
Slipping the teeth in his cup, he made sure to take careful note of the tiny speck of gold among the molars. Ahh, he'd never forget that tooth for quite some time.
"Well, off to night I suppose."
--------------------------
The morning came and as Finders woke up, he felt something was off. For one thing, the door was ajar. He could've sworn he closed it. And another...
"My tooth! What the hay happened to my tooth!"
Back from an important expedition, Blazing Legend decides to restock his studio. Upon his approach of a promising looking shop, he hears a frightened yell from it's upper apartment. Blaze starts knocking loudly on the locked door as to gain the attention of the stores inhabitants.
Only the lock wasn't locked. The door had been left ajar, as if whoever had left had left in a big hurry. In fact, there was the faint sound of hoofsteps departing down the gravel sidewalk.
Blaze opens the door and calls out, "Hello? Is everything alright?"
((Is this a one-on-one RP or is it open? I have a Ace Attorney/Detective Pony OC I could use in this...))
:s
(Open to all, bring him along!)
Finders Keepers ran forward, nearly tripping on his own hooves. "Oh ma! Oh ma! Tarable!" He sputtered.
"My tooth's gone! My golden...what?"
That was when he noticed something very peculiar. A notecard at the counter of his store. It was a simple card, but it read.
"You've been robbed!
And please remember to floss,
You're friendly Tooth Fairy."
"Sweet...sweet Celestia! I've been robbed! By the Tooth Fairy!" He fell to his hooves, weeping.
Blaze raises his right brow as he is both surprised and confused by what the shopkeeper is saying, and is silent as he tries to comprehend the situation that is unfurling.
The shopkeeper managed to calm down, looking Blaze right in the eye. "You see this?"
He gestured to the gaping hole in his front teeth. "My tooth is missing. And this!"
He showed the letter, which contained the rather odd code. "My tooth's never coming back! Haven't you heard of the Tooth Fairy?"
Whatever Blaze's answer was, Finders would continue with his speech. "Oh dear me, you've never heard of them, haven't you?"
He sat down, trying to make sense of it. "The Tooth Fairy is a...well...more or less a convoluted criminal running rampant in Canterlot. They steal teeth. Golden teeth to be specific. That tooth was a token of my forefathers and now...now some punk thinks he can steal it?"
He shook his head. "Listen buddy, we need to get the guard or somepony and..."
He paused, staring at Blaze for a second. "How did you get in here?"
"The door was left ajar.", Blaze stutters, still trying to make sense of what has transpired.
//Would anybody mind if I joined in? I'll wait for a response before posting anything else :) //
((It's an open RP, go right ahead.))
((Alright. Thanks for answering. I'll come in on this. ^-^))
It had been awhile since Lane had received a case. Too long in fact. He was worried that he would be a little rusty. But, he quickly realized that once he started, it would all come back to him.
He had just gotten off the Friendship Express and arrived in Canterlot. His Chief at the department he worked at in Ponyville informed him that it seemed to be a fairly simple case. A robbery. It was good to have something simple as his first case in a long time.
It took him some time to find the crime scene, but, he found it eventually. He entered the crime scene and spoke up to any ponies that were inside.
"Sorry I'm late. I just got word. I might not be from this city, but I can assure you my work will speak for itself. So, what exactly happened here?" asked Lane
((Almost forgot, if you want to know more about my OC/what he looks like, just go to my OC thread here (http://forum.legendsofequestria.com/index.php?topic=4697.0). He's the first one listed. X3))
Quick Silver was walking through the bustling city of Canterlot. She was enjoying a calm day off, but her peace was interrupted when she walked past a certain shop. All sorts of loud and upsets noises came from inside, so being the curious pony she was Quick Silver pushed open the door and slowly stepped inside.
Seeing the situation escalate, Blaze could only groan as he became anchored to Cantetlot for the remainder of the investigation.
"Well I'll be! It's about time!" He stood up, taking a low bow at Lane. "The name is Finders Keepers, sir. And this fella-"
He pointed at Blaze, his eyes glaring. "This fella here stole my tooth!" He gestured to his mouth, pointing at the gaping hole. "My golden tooth to be precise!"
At that moment, he only gave Quick Silver a raised brow but nonetheless continued trying to explain what had just happened. "And then he had the nerve to leave this!" He pulled out a note.
QuoteYou've been robbed!
And please remember to floss,
You're friendly Tooth Fairy.
Finders Keepers shook his head. "This stallion here was then caught on my property, trying to act like he was just hearing it. but it was clear he was trying to skidaddle out of here after leaving this message."
[/color=green]"I've done no such thing!"[/color], Blaze exclaims at the shopkeeper's claim.
"Oh sure you haven't!" He spat back. "You're nothing more than a petty thief ya' know? Stealing an old stallion's golden tooth!"
"I just got here a few minutes ago and have a whole host of witnesses all the way from the front gate to right outside your door who can say that I only approached your shop after you screamed from inside it."
Lane was stuck in an impossible situation.
This pony didn't seem like a thief. Besides, there was no way the thief would still be on the crime scene. That's what Lane thought anyway.
Plus... there was the fact that the thief was calling themselves "The Tooth Fairy"
"You've GOT to me kidding me. If this is some sort of joke, it's not funny" thought Lane
He cleared his throat to get the two ponies attention, and to get them to stop arguing.
"Do you have any evidence to prove that this pony is the thief? Besides, Mr... Keepers was it? Do you really think the culprit would still be on the crime scene after stealing your... tooth? We need to search the area for evidence of what happened here. If you could just let us do that, we can uncover the truth of what happened here" assured Lane.
Lane then glanced at the pony Finders Keepers was pinning the blame on and spoke to him.
"To be honest... I think Mr. Keepers here is just overreacting. I deal with victims like him quite a bit. They blame the first pony they see. Anyway... you should help out in looking the place over for evidence and clues at to what really happened here. That should help prove your innocence. Besides, the more ponies that help out, the better chance of finding something important right?" offered Lane.
Lane then turned around to the pony that was behind him.
"You can help out too. I don't know if you're just an onlooker or not, but even if you don't have any experience examining crime scenes, it's really not that hard. Just look around for anything that seems odd, suspicious, or just out-of-place in general" suggested Lane.
Lane took a breath and spoke up one last time.
"But let's at least introduce ourselves first. We already know our victim, which is Mr. Keepers here. As for me... my name is Lane Logikin. I'm a detective from Ponyville" informed Lane.
He waited for the others to respond to his statements as well as introduce themselves
((Sorry for the lengthy post. :I Also, in case it's not obvious, I've kind of done something like this before. It's a long story. X3))
(No worries, longer posts are better :) )
The shop was divided into a counter at the back, with a door that led to the second floor. The shelves around the store occupied the front, with a small isle in the middle for guests to enter and leave.
Upstairs, the first room facing the stairs was a hallway, with the first room on the left being the bathroom, the second room on the right being the closet, and the final room at the very end being the bedroom.
The bedroom consisted of a bed at the top right, with a bookcase and table at the far left and a sofa at the top left.
(I'll get diagrams of it later)
A yellow pony looks around for something he [move]lost[/move] only to come face to face with [move]Discord![/move]
Quick Silver calmly stepped forward. "My name is Quick Silver, I'm a member of the royal guard." she introduced herself, nodding politely towards the group. "I have the week off, so I'd be happy to help in this investigation if you need me." she added.
"Yeah, no. As the official suspect of this case I am not going to incriminate myself by leaving hoofprints all over the crime scene looking for clues."
Lane simply shrugged with his front hooves.
"Suit yourself. I suppose I can't blame you though. Try to relax though. If you're really as innocent as you claim to be, then I can assure you that me or Quick Silver will find something that will prove your innocence" assured Lane to the accused pony. He wasn't sure if him saying this would make the pony feel any better, but, it was better to try to calm the accused pony's nerves then allow them to stress themselves into a panic or anxiety attack.
With that said, Lane began his search.
Lane began by going towards the counter at the back of the store and looking for anything suspicious or perhaps anything the thief, or anypony else for that matter, may have left behind.
((^^^The red text is just something I like to do when I actually start 'investigating' in mystery RPs. For me, it's just supposed to show important details and what I'm trying to do exactly. X3))
Quick Silver took mention of her name as a go ahead to help out. She looked around the room, to see if any painting or pictures had been disturbed or if any items had been knocked over, though saw nothing obvious. She turned to face the victim of the crime, deciding it would be helpful to speak to him.
"Excuse me, may I speak with you for a few minutes Mr. Keepers?" she asked politely.
"You want evidence of my innocence? I've been on an expedition for the past three months and only got back this morning, and I've got the papers to prove it!"
Keepers finally relented, giving Blaze a simple nod. "Fine, but if I find out you were lying, I'll have you locked up."
He turned to Quick Silver, flashing her a gentle smile. "Certainly miss. What do you want to know? I've told that guy over there everything that I know.'
----------
The counter looked pretty disheveled with papers stuffed into the drawers. However, the cash register appeared to have all its change in proper order, arranged neatly into rows by coin and type. The note had been discovered at the top of the register, so it seemed odd that there was no signs of disturbance.
"Thank you. Am I correct in assuming the crime was commited overnight? If so, what time did you go to bed? And were you disturbed at all during the night, you know, any strange noises that awoke you or anything like that?" Silver asked the stallion.
While waiting for a reply she took another quick glance around the room, to see if she might have missed anything.
Nothing seemed out of place, but before she could check, Keepers answered with a very brief 'I'm a heavy sleeper' spiel.

"Well, with that settled, do you want to help search this place
now?" offered Lane. The more help they had, the sooner that they could determine what
really happened here.
Lane went back to looking around the back of the store... and saw...

This was
definitely strange.
"What the...? What thief only takes a tooth when there's a register full of bits here too? This could be important... I'd better make a note of it..." thought Lane as he took out a small notepad and a small pencil from his vest and wrote this information down, just in case.
Quick Silver seemed to be questioning Mr. Keepers, so, he would have to ask him about the register later. For now, Lane moved on the other isles of the store to see if anything was out-of-place or just didn't seem right in general. Lane seemed to be hoping that perhaps there was something here that could point to who the thief was, or if they left anything behind.
"If I must.", Blaze says while glancing around the storefront.
The isles were stacked with a sort of haphazard organization more befitting of chaos than order. Brooms and potions sat side by side next to swords and potato chips. It seemed more reminiscent of a rat's den. Organized chaos perhaps?
Meanwhile, as Blaze searched the storefront, he would notice one thing in particular. The door lock wasn't broken. It was if somepony had come in and left, leaving the door ajar in their haste, but not after pushing it off its hinges or cracking a lock.
//Sorry for such a sudden dissappearance, my wifi was on the fritz yesterday and I didn't get a chance to get on//
Quick Silver 'hmed' in response to the shop owner's answer. "Have you noticed any strange behaviour from someone who might know their way around this shop, maybe a friend, family member, or a customer you get often?" she asked.
"Ummm well there were a few quirky customers." He noted. "I mean, you get them for selling this kind of stuff. There was Cumber Cucumber, he's a pretty quiet stallion. Ummm, Miss Zoom Zoom, she works as a flight instructor. And Mrs. Pasture."
"I see. Can you tell me how they were acting? Did any of them seem suspicious or act guilty?" she questioned.

"This is too much of a mess to probably find anything. Guess I'll start searching upstairs next. It may not be important, but, you never know" thought Lane
Lane then pretty much did just that. He went upstairs to search the second floor. He approached the closet first.
"Well... I've certainly found evidence in stranger places..." thought Lane as he opened the closet and looked for anything suspicious.
((I like searching
everything. I'm not actually expecting to find anything in the closet. X3))
Keepers shook his head. "Not any more quirky than you'd expect. Mr. Cucumber is a collector of fine toothpicks and I had recently sold him the rare Andovian toothpick. He's always very particular about toothpicks though."
"As for Miss Zoom Zoom, she's a bit of a free spirit but says she has high standards. I was selling her some old antiques regarding a famous Wonderbolt known as Goldy Goldy. Apparently he had a tooth just like mine and she couldn't help fantasizing about the prospects."
"And then, well...Mrs. Pasture buys anything. She's a cow you see. Visiting Canterlot for the months. Odd you see because she told me I'd had a piece of spinach stuck in her teeth and nearly went into a rant about it."
----------------------
The closet was also very messed up. Coats and cloaks hung around in a mismatched order while boots and shoes were strewn about over the floor. At the top were a few boxes labeled "potions" and "essentials" and at the bottom were two umbrellas and a black glove.

((It's kind of hard to tell if any of that is important or not. I will assume it's not, but if it is, tell me so and I'll go back to it.))
Lane shrugged his front hooves again.
"Well... it was worth a shot I guess" thought Lane.
He then moved on to the hallway to see if it was as messed up as the store and closet were. If it wasn't, he would be looking specifically for anything suspicious, or just something that shouldn't be there.
((Also... this is pretty much for everyone here... my activity in this might be sparse this upcoming Friday and Saturday since another Open Server Event thing has been announced for the LoE game and I'm going to try to record videos of me playing it/livestreaming it
AGAIN. Just so all of you know))
//Fair enough, I'll probably be busy too honestly with the server and family stuff//
Quick Silver hmmed again. All of the three customers had something to do with teeth, which was odd, though she hadn't met the customers and so had no idea if they were like that most of the time. She decided to mention it to Lane when he returned from looking around.
((It is, give it a second check.))
Sure enough, the bedroom was just as oddly organized. The bathroom, however, was very neatly arranged, with the medicine arranged alphabetically.
"Well, thank you Mr. Keepers. That's all the questions I have for now, but if I think of anymore I'll come back to you." Quick Silver said, giving the stallion time to reply if he wanted to.

((It's hard to tell what is and isn't important in it though. But alright))
Lane was actually starting to get confused. This pony had an odd sense of organization. There were areas that were a huge mess, and other areas that were kept pristine, neat, and tidy. Was it possible that somepony else was living here as well? It would be another question he would have to ask later.
For now, Lane decided that even though it didn't seem like the closet seemed important, he realized that he should give it a thorough check anyway. So that's what he did.
Lane went back to the closet and searched it thoroughly. He stood up on his hind hooves and took out the two boxes labeled "potions" and "essentials." He then opened up each box to see what was inside them.
(You're on the right track with a certain observation)
Among the potions, one was empty. It appeared to be some sort of anesthesia potion, for toothache as the label read. Odd too, since it was organized neatly once again, by alphabetical order. Essentials held a few pieces of string over several old magazines, including one labeled "Cooking Weekly: New Recipes"
Meanwhile, Mr. Keepers nodded. "Aye. I don't know how they got in though. I don't necessarily live with anypony here, so you'd be hardpressed to have anypony open the door."
He grinned, sitting back against his chair.

"Huh. This could be important. I guess it's good I looked through all of it after all..." thought and realized Lane. He made a note of the empty potion in his notepad.
At this point, Lane decided he would check downstairs to see if Quick Silver was still talking with the victim. It seemed like she was finished. For now at least. This was his chance, so, Lane took it. He approached Mr. Keepers and spoke to him.
"Mr. Keepers, I know Ms. Silver just finished speaking with you, but, there are some things I would like to ask you as well. If you don't mind of course. I'd like to particularly ask about some things that I noticed after investigating a few areas. It might help in determining what really went on here. Well? Would you care to help me out here?" asked Lane.
There was really only two things Lane knew he had to ask Mr. Keepers about. The register and the empty potion bottle.
"Aye, what you want to know?" Keepers answered with a confident smile.

"Aye, what you want to know?" Keepers answered with a confident smile.
"When I checked around the back of the store, where the note from the culprit was found, I noticed that the register was full of bits. Now, if this was just some random thief, it's hard to imagine that they would just ignore the register and not take all of the bits in it. Yet this thief clearly did not. This suggests that the thief may have only been after this tooth of yours. This may mean that it was personal. This thief might just be somepony you know. Is there anypony that you can think of that would be after your tooth?" asked Lane
((I know that Finders Keepers already told Quick Silver about the ponies that he might suspect of doing this, but, Lane wasn't really around for that. Plus, I honestly don't know of the non-stolen bits from the register is important or not. :s))
(Can't give you a hint to everything now, can I?)
Finders Keepers shook his head. "Well as I was saying to missus over there..."
As he described once again the three culprits he felt could be responsible for the theft, he suddenly took a step back, his eyes widening. "Actually...now that I come to think of it...I remember why I was so curious about them."
He paused, turning back on his hoof. "I well...they all had a golden tooth too."

"Thanks for the information. That could be important" commented Lane as he quickly wrote all of this down in his notepad as well.
"Now, before I move on to my next question, there's something else I have to ask. Are you the only pony living here?" asked Lane
Mr. Keepers nodded. "Mhmm, no Missus Keepers yet. But I keep an eye or two open from time to time." He flashed a tooth grin, well...not as toothy before considering what he was missing.

This was
definitely odd. Lane had to ask his next question cautiously.
"I see. Please don't take any offense with what I'm about to say next, but, through my search of your store and upstairs area so far, it seemed like there was more than one pony living here. There are areas that are really messy, and other areas where everything is pristine, neat, tidy, and kept very organized. Perhaps you can explain that to me?" asked Lane
"Organized?" Keepers chuckled. "I organize everything in this shop if that's what you're asking! Come here."
He moved to the isles, proudly showing the shelves. "Look at this! It's practically made for each other. Armor going this way and next to a broom so you clean up da' mess! I honestly can't see what you're talking about!"

"Have you been upstairs recently? There are quite a few areas there that are a huge mess. That's why I'm confused" stated Lane.
((Okay. I'll be inactive on here until after the Open Server event. Although it may not matter considering that this has now turned into a one-on-one RP. The others haven't posted in this recently. :I))
//Well, I've been waiting for Lane to be free so Silver can talk to him about what she found out. I'll probably be mostly inactive this weekend as well though//
"What? That's total poppy cock." Finders chuckled, as he headed to the register. "Why it's...what? Who touched this? I had this organized? Was this you?" He turned to Lane, raising a brow. "Are you messing with my things again?"
It was quite apparent, that Finders Keepers sense of organization was far different from whoever had organized the register...or the bathroom...or the boxes. But why? And what did that indicate?

"No sir. I only investigate. I take my job
very seriously and I don't touch
anything when I investigate a crime scene" answered Lane.
He was beginning to get a little annoyed. However... the fact that the victim was confused as well seemed to make Lane think of a another question to ask.
"Does anypony else work with you here? Like... do you have any other employees?" asked Lane
(Sorry to the others right now...it's a bit crazy I know with one investigator asking all the questions.)
Keepers shook his head. "Oh...well...not really. I just work by myself." He crossed his hooves. "Not much over there."

"Found anything interesting? I found out quite a bit. Although, to be honest, this case is starting to become more confusing than I thought it would be..." remarked Lane
((I'm not really sure what else to do and it's probably about time for information to be shared anyway. Plus, I want to get the others back into this. X3))
"I found out some information about of Mr. Keepers regular customers. He said that they all seem to be a bit quirky in their own way." Quick Silver explained. I'm not sure what to make of that. Mr. Keepers seems to think I'm making it up, and he claims he's the only one who works here. I suppose it's possible that the thief went upstairs but what would their reason for doing that be? Anyway... nothing was taken out of the register, which suggests that the only thing the thief was after was the tooth, which could suggest that this was personal. I also found an empty potion bottle in a box labeled "Potions." The potion in question seemed to be an anesthetic for toothaches." explained Lane.
He took a breath after that long-winded explanation, and then spoke up again.
"I thought this would be a nice and simple case, but then again, I seem to
rarely have cases like that anymore. It's ending up as quite a confusing case. Any ideas of what we should do next? Because I'm honestly not sure..." asked Lane.
((Yeah. Pretty much the truth. Also apologies for the long explanation. X3 I seriously have no idea what to do now... :I))
(Oki doki, little hint)
At this moment, Finders Keepers entered back into the scene, casually looking up at his shelves. "I don't get it. Who'd mess up my things if they was only after my tooth? Do they have some sort of problem with it?"
((I was waiting for Quill Ink, but they have yet to post. I'm at loss at what to do here. That hint isn't very clear. But it could just be me. Either way, this might be good and dead. :s))

Quick Silver sighed. "I have no clue what to do now." she admit, looking around the room, trying to see if anything, anything, seemed too out of the ordinary.
Lane could only sigh, as he too began to look around for anything that he might have missed.

So she watched him walk away, wondering if he had been up to no good. As she walks in, she sees the detectives, telling her story, she offers to take them as far as she had seen the culprit run. Hows that sound? I hope i havent jumbled any of it up or made it hard to understand :s))
((Sounds good to me, but, you have to get the okay from the owner of this I would think... :s))

(Sorry, alright here's another hint, there are only a few rooms organized...things that we know the thief has touched. What you're looking for is a culprit who cannot stand chaos or disorder and simply takes the time to organize it for the guy. So then...the thief is someone who is an organizational freak)
(I'm fine with anyone wanting to join to come back in. Yeah, none of you guys had replied for so long that i did consider it dead, but if you guys are willing to come back, I'll throw this back into gear)
((I do but I'm just not sure what to do exactly. Do you want us to go question those other characters your character mentioned? That's about the only thing I can think of to do... so... I'll do this to quit the constant OOC chatting...))
Lane approached Mr. Keepers and spoke to him.
"You mentioned those other ponies that you suspected of doing this. I treat all ponies as innocent until proven guilty, so I can't just assume they did it. However, I'm not against questioning them. Do you know where we can find these ponies?" asked Lane
((Im still waiting for the go-ahead from the author, i dunno if what he said about if any of us wanted to join we could come back was a go ahead or not .~.))
Quick Silver waited for Lane to be free again. She hadn't thought to ask him if he'd found anything interesting while looking around, only just realising it was a good question to ask. The mare sighed and began wandering around the room they were currently in, seeing if she could spot anything odd.
(Yeah, actually I'll just have you listed as a suspect.)
"Here's the whole list." He slid several names and addresses to the detective. "Anypony I think might've been kind of cooky."

"Thank you" responded Lane as he took the list. He then went towards Quick Silver.
"Well, I got a list of addresses. Anything you want to do before we start questioning these ponies?" asked Lane
((I hope you guys dont mind if i go ahead and jump in))
Midnight opened the door to the shop, quickly seeing the detective ponies. "Uhm, Is the shop owner here?" She asks, stepping more into the store and closing the door.
Since Lane seemed busy with Mr.Keepers, Quick Silver appraoched the mare who had just walked in. She approached calmly, with a small smile on her face so she didn't scare her.
"Yes, he is, but he's currently occupied. Can I help you instead?" she offered kindly.
Keepers followed him out to the main hall just as he saw the customer walk in. Narrowing his eyes, her stated quite simply. "What a pleasant surprise to see you again, buddy. And what a coincidence of you to come here too."
((My character is free Quill Ink X3))
Another new face showed up. Not only that, this one seemed to know the victim. However, Quick Silver was already speaking with the new pony. Lane could only hope she could handle this...
Instead, Lane looked at the list of names and addresses that Mr. Keepers gave him. He had to get a basic understanding of where they would be going after all...
//ah, sorry! I didn't realise you had replied as well. I was under the illusion that you were still speaking with Finders Keepers...//
Quick Silver turned to look at Lane. She hadn't realised he wasn't busy. "Well, speaking to this pony seems like a good idea, before we look at the suspects." she answered him, after taking a moment to decide which option would be best.
Midnight nodded, "I just came by to check on him. I saw someone leave here in a pretty big hurry late last night and I was afraid someone had broken in. I take it that I was right?" She frowns, hoping nothing very major was stolen
"And where were you, huh?" Keepers asked, his eyes narrowing. "Pretty suspicious of you to come here of all places AFTER a robbery, eh? You turn to stealing teeth now?" He marched up the customer, so that they were eye-to-eye. "You think you're really clever, huh?"
"Please calm down sir." Quick Silver said to Keepers. She turned back to the customer. "Yes, there was a robbery, you saw someone leaving?" she asked, intrigued. "I'd reccomend speaking to Mr. Lane over there about that."

This comment made Lane look up. This is
exactly what they needed believe it or not, a potential witness.
"Could you describe the pony that you saw in as much detail as you possibly can?" asked Lane to the potential witness
((sorry guys, ive been away for a couple days, Is there a specific description im supposed to give or do i just make it up?))
"Well.." Midnight started. "It was really dark, so i didnt get to see much." She frowned. "I would have to really think to remember if i did see anything notable."

Lane facehooved. But he wasn't exactly surprised. It looked as though the witness didn't seem to be able to see the suspect all that well. He sighed and then spoke up once more.
"I see. Were you at least able to tell if it was an earth pony, unicorn, or pegasus and if it was a mare or a stallion?" asked Lane
((I dont think they did, so I s'pose its up to me.))
"Hmm...Oh yeah! It was definitely a stallion, Im not sure what he was though, I didnt see wings, or a horn. I assume if he was a unicorn he could have just teleported out the door instead of having to actually open it, yknow? And he wore like, some kind of hooded thing, so I really couldnt see his face at all." Midnight nodded, trying to think of anything else she saw that could be really important.

"You heard our witness here correct? Are any of the ponies that you gave me a list of earth pony stallions?" asked Lane.
This would not only narrow down their search, but, save them time as well.
"Can I help you guys look?, I could totally show you guys the direction I saw him ran. Maybe he dropped something?"

"That would be helpful. The more hooves to help resolve this the better. As long as Ms. Silver is okay with it" remarked Lane as he looked towards Quick Silver and waited for her input.
Upon looking at it, he nodded. "Yeah, some bloke by the name of Horseshoe Graves. Reckon he must know a thing or two about it."
If they did indeed follow the trail, they would be led into a dimly lit alleyway, where one homeless mare could be seen sleeping soundly against a trash can.
"So, uh..This guy stole your tooth? Thats a pretty odd thing to steal." She said, suppressing a tiny grin at the silly notion.

With that said, he began to make his way to the address listed for "Horseshoe Graves" on the note that was given to him by Mr. Keepers with the other two ponies hopefully following behind him.
The residence itself was a cozy little two-story house nestled between an oatburger joint and a casket maker. Growing in a small pot to the side, was a series of tiny lilies, with a kind light blue mare tending to them with a watering can.

Lane approached the mare and spoke to her.
"Excuse me miss, does a 'Horseshoe Graves' live here?" asked Lane
"Oh yes, I'm his niece, Miss Fine Print Graves at your service." The mare took off her gardening glove, raising it for him to shake. "Is my uncle in any sort of trouble?"
It was clear now that she was a pegasus, with a nice dark grey mane tied in a bun under soft violet blue eyes. Her body was rather average though, and she had a cheery complexion, albeit being a tad short.
"He's currently out, but my Aunt Graves is in there if you're curious."

Lane shook the mare's hand. He didn't want to be rude.
"It depends on what your definition of 'trouble' is. Finders Keepers has had his golden tooth stolen from him. Unfortunately... we have a witness stating he saw a earth pony stallion leaving the scene of the crime. I'm not trying to say that your uncle is the culprit, but, it would be better if me and my associates here spoke to him about this as soon as possible. Do you know how soon he will be returning?" informed and asked Lane.
He could only hope that all of this information wouldn't upset this mare...
(I'm going to be gone for a week or more till April 12th, so perhaps if you guys want to continue this with theories or hold off, it's up to you)
Miss Graves shook her head. "Probably not in a while I'm afraid. But my Aunt is here so perhaps you could talk with her?"

"Alright. We'll take you up on your offer" responded Lane as he began to head inside the house with the other ponies hopefully still following behind him.
(Okay, I'll try to give up as many information as I can)
A taller, slender grey pony with a light blue mane was sitting at the door, cradling a cup of wine in her hooves. "Yes? Who is it?"

Anypony staying with Mrs. Graves would see that she went back to work, but perhaps could use some help as she struggled with one of the bags of fertilizer.

He would allow the other ponies, who were hopefully still with him, to introduce themselves.
((Because they aren't posting/went missing again. :s))
Midnight stepped in behind Lane, wondering what they could find out from the mare
She hoofed him a bottle of wine. "Thank you, lay the bottle there, detective. And what would you like from my dear husband this time now?"

Miss Graves was still struggling with the fertilizer, but managed to flip it over. (Sorry met Miss Graves not Mrs.)

Now? This could mean that Mr. Graves has spoken with some sort of police pony before. Lane might have to keep this in mind.
"Well... a witness places an earth pony stallion at the scene of the crime of a robbery of a golden tooth owned by Mr. Finders Keepers. I'm not saying it was your husband who was the pony seen, however, are you acquainted with Mr. Keepers?" asked Lane.
He had to get a baseline for what Mrs. Graves knew about the victim before he would move on to questions concerning the crime and possibly if her husband had an alibi.
//Whoops I went to Germany. I got back yesterday and I've been busy all of today, so I'm sorry I haven't been posting. I'll do my best to catch up.//
Quick Silver had followed the others inside and stood close by, listening to see if she could catch any useful information. She considered speaking with Miss. Graves, but the mare seemed busy with work right now and was worried she'd be a burden at this moment in time.
"My husband knows him." Mrs. Graves said rather sternly. "I find the pony to be a cheap scape and one who deserves that he gets. He thinks he can sell my husband useless knick knacks and jack up the price. He's the real thief if you ask me."

Just before Quill could enter, however, Miss Graves called out. "I'm terribly sorry, Officer, but could you help me with this fertilizer?"

Lane wasn't really concerned with any issues with the victim. All that was important here was that a crime occurred and somepony had to be brought to justice for it.
"I see. If you don't mind me asking, what was your husband doing yesterday evening?" asked Lane.
Lane was done messing around. He had to see if Mr. Graves had an alibi. This was a a vague question however. Depending on how Mrs. Graves responded, he might have to get a little more specific.
(Okay, 8 days or so I think stands for a week so I'm going to make the next post)
"Well yesterday, he had to leave dinner early due to some accident at the company, I believe a shoe factory if I recall it correctly. Either way, he didn't come back till a tad later, and when I asked him what happened, he didn't want to say."

He wasn't getting anywhere with this pony. He was beginning to seriously contemplate going to Horseshoe Graves place of work and speaking with him there. They couldn't waste anymore time.
"Well...yes he works at the carpet weaver's factory in Canterlot? The big one near the center of town?"
She shook her head. "If you honestly think my husband would rob some store for a few coins, you're quite wrong dear sir. He's not a thief. He's a buisnesspony."

Lane honestly wasn't sure where that was at. However, if it was truly in the center of town, he shouldn't have any problems finding it.
"It wasn't bits that were stolen. It was a golden tooth" informed Lane. He then began to head to the door. Unless the pony had anything else to say to him, or tried to stop him, he would leave the building.
He spoke to the ponies outside.
"I found out where Mr. Graves works. Let's see if we can find him there" suggested Lane to the other ponies.
Midnight nods, "Lead the way, please."
Lane, with hopefully the other ponies in tow, headed towards the center of Canterlot. Once there, hopefully, they would find the carpet weaver factory that Mrs. Graves mentioned.
The Carpeteria was a large, circular building colored in various geometic patterns, and pixelated panels to indicate the factory was a carpet in itself. Along the bottom, tassel lines showed the windows that seemed tinted and forlorned.
A lone guard stood at the gate, checking in ponies as he went.

He began to observe this 'Not Graves' pony. If he began to move, Lane would attempt to follow him, but, try to be careful enough so 'Not Graves' wouldn't become suspicious.
Not Graves gave the guard an odd look before turning and seeing the detectives up ahead. "Oh, hello there! Can I help you gents?"

"Well I thought the name was quite obvious. Carpets of course!" Graves chuckled. "Best darn carpets in the kingdom. Why do you ask? Looking to buy a carpet perhaps?"

"That makes sense. I don't think I need one at the moment, but I'll keep you guys in mind if I ever need one. By the way... speaking of places of businesses... have you ever been to a store owned by a pony names Mr. Keepers? I've heard of his store, and was thinking of checking it out. Can you tell me anything about it?" asked Lane
Now Lane was just being devious. He was trying to see if 'Not Graves' would slip up and say something about Mr. Keepers that might suggest some sort of motive for the theft.
"I...umm...why do you ask?" Graves was sweating. "I...honestly don't know anything about it."

Great. Now he was playing dumb. At least that's what Lane thought. With the other ponies not really saying anything, he wasn't sure what to do here. He could either quit the charade and reveal who he
really is, or continue the charade.
With that in mind... there was really only one choice left...
"Can I ask you a yes or no question? Are you Horseshoe Graves?" asked Lane
" Wow, I shouldn't have played that cardgame with my cousin from cloudsdale last night.....he is such a cheater" I muttered as I walked to the Carpet-Teria store, as I decided on buying a new carpet to replace the shoddy one that Anni Pegani spilt apple cider on

completely ignored his question and went to help somepony that had just appeared out of
nowhere that seemed to be lost. Lane couldn't take this anymore.
"Did you steal Mr. Keepers Golden Tooth or not?!" shouted Lane, his anger getting the best of him...
" Oh I'm terribly sorry good sir, I mistook this wonderful place for a store, my mistake...I'll be on my way" *Rainboom Blitz politely leaves the factory and goes over to the Carpet store*
Mr. Graves turned and gave the detective an incredulous look. "Are you serious? What do you mean stolen? And me?"

"Well technically I'm getting a partnership." Graves stated with a smug smile. "Just as long as I cough up the funds to buy it. Then the carpet business would be my business."
He grinned broadly, before looking back. "Wait a second..."

((You've brickwalled me

Mystery RPs aren't meant to be straightforward. You just ran into another obstacle. So just problem solve it. The witness is trying to assert control because you've been basically accusing him. But that doesn't mean you can tail him. It's elementary, dear Watson.)
Graves nodded off, walking back towards downtown. He did seem a tad shaken up, and perhaps had gone a little defensive. But it'd taken him awhile to reach that verdict, and if he still had the tooth, perhaps following him would reveal some sort of pawn shop. Or perhaps exploring the factory might reveal some clues. Or going back to his house, considering that his niece and wife still had quite a bit to talk about.

((Honestly, you could still bluff him. He's nervous, you got a closed up witness because you pushed too hard. You need him to confess, right? So try to ease him in. And there's always the option to spy on him, see if he produces the stolen item. I'm not leaving you with nothing, I kinda just want to see what you'll do.
There was really only one option left at this point. He informed the others of his plan, via whispering of course.
"I can't get anything out of him. So... let's follow him. See where he's going. You never know, we may come across some definitive evidence" whispered Lane.
At that... he waited for Graves to walk away for a little bit... and after awhile... began to follow him. Trying his best to remain unseen and for Graves to remain unwise about being followed.
Eventually Graves reached his house, sighing to himself. His wife came over and gave him a little kiss. His niece did the same, but soon Grave's wife stopped and suddenly yawned a bit.
It could be just that she was tired, but there seemed to be something else. Something...odd about that yawn.

This couldn't be
anything good. Did she somehow see Lane and the others and that he was followed? There were too many questions running through Lane's head. He quickly looked around to see if he could find a place to hide.
