Thank you very much.  ^-^

I'm working on the weight maps, then onto the rigging.  Most of the morphs are finished.  Hopefully I'll have the rig ready in a few days.

Oh, wow! Did you model that from scratch?

Yes... that's a small part of what I do here.   ;)

I just finished with the skeletal rig and the control rig for the character.  I had to make a small change to the coloration of the front breast strap to her back covering.  Most folks were having trouble discerning the difference between it being a part of her body or as an ornamentation of her body wear.

I'm thinking about going back and experimenting with an iridescent appearance to her back covering.

Thank you both for the compliments.  I'd like to help out with some of the modeling, but I suspect they already have more than enough volunteers.  I figure they need more folks who can do the programing.  ''CTC Annex'' (http://tapastic.com/episode/60375) webcomic that I create over on Tapastic.  One of three that I work on.  Check it out... I hope you like at least one of the three, that you might consider following along.

I follow the antics of the little pink fluffy pony.  Saw the animation of Fluffy gifting Chrysalis with an outfit made from Fluffy's fur.  I decided to create the outfit for the 3D model using rendered fur.

To be honest. Yes we have lots of 3D modelers, but very few are dedicated to creature modeling, rigging and animating.
I'd suggest applying as a 3D animator, but you need to show you can make animations with natural movements.
We are also looking for some more people who can do environmental modeling who can use Unity to make a scenery with a heavy atmosphere. If you're interested in joining my crew then feel free to apply, but I'd have to see some low poly work from you in order to accept you.   ^-^

I would dearly love to be a member... however, I'm currently working two jobs to make ends meet.  My own studio job and the second job at Universal Studios.  I barely have time to eat, sleep and change my mind.

So when I have time, I put together these little 3D rendered strips to show my appreciation for all the hard work (that I truly understand) that you folks put into "Legends of Equestria."

But, "Thank You" so very, Very Much for your interest in my work.  [[Hugs]] to you all.  :)

I truly enjoy the small snippets of comics you do as well. They're mildly entertaining.  ;)

Understand the concern for the need of low poly-counts.  In-game use requires a nice looking 3D model but with the lowest poly-count possible to ensure the computers don't lag during play.

What is the current in-game poly-count for a standard earth pony?

my current standard pony, poly-count is 2891 polygons... Queen Chrysalis is 9957 polygons.

Is that with or without subdividing the polys?
For our earth ponies it is about 2000 triangles.

That's with subdivided polys on single count.  Increasing the subdivided amount only increases the poly-count by two, three or more per model.  If you use tri-poly (typical for most other modeling programs) you will increase the poly-count.

Knowing that you're using tri-polys, then my poly-count will only double when you introduce the model into the game system with my current 3D model.  I can further reduce the poly count by three or four times the amount, but the model will suffer when animated.  I tend to use the rule of three when dealing with joints to help with limb bending.

On another forum, there was some confusion about the various icons present in and around the Red Dragon 3D model...

The four-sided spike icons are bones which are placed at strategic locations, just like our own skeletal system, to aid in the support and locomotion of our own body.  I use a bright red color for the right side of the body and bright green for the left side of the body.  The colors are not really necessary, but it helps with handling and posing of the 3D character.

The control rig are the orange colored rings and/or circle icons scattered around the outside of the body.  Each control ring or circle is used to position/pose several bones at once.  This helps to speed up the animation process-- so the animator doesn't have to position each and every single bone in the 3D character.

There's much, much more detail/information concerning rigging a 3D character.  I'll stop here for now so I don't bore some of you to death.  :)
