Description:
Charcoal Scroll is a very lighthearted fellow who loves to talk on topic to better himself on his general knowledge and has always been a gentlecolt from birth. He has a charcoal coat that makes him stick out among the crowd of colorful ponies in Canterlot; and he loves it. His eyes and hair however, have a vibrant color; sapphire. He loves to socialize with other ponies and will always help out another, if that pony asks for his assistance.
Backstory or History:
Charcoal Scroll is actually quite a plain pony, and he has yet to actually experience an exciting event besides the Sunrising Ceremony. While many in Equestria were horrified at the Changeling invasion; Charcoal was visiting an old acquaintance of his in Manehattan, so he has no clue of what happened on that day. He had heard "rumors" of ponies being able to change shape, but the people who he talked with would simply drop the subject. He was born and raised in Ponyville, along with many other ponies. He is a pony that truly appreciates his mark, even if it does not set him to a specific job or career.

He's simple, yet good.
He has no thing that makes him ''stand out'' like stag horns or two horns, or being an Alicorn.
Dark colors are Rare in Equestria, but you specifically mentioned that, which I liked. We see some like Thunder Lane and Rumble that are black, so there are most likely others.
What does his cutiemark mean though? is he a scribe of sorts?

There is a lot going for this pony. He has a simple, yet likable personality. His color pallet is a bit different, and I like that you brought attention to that. We didn't get a whole lot about how he feels or acts or likes, but that's okay. Sometimes that isn't too important to understand the pony, like here.
I do agree with Mr Emu though, I wish you would tell us more about his Cutie Mark.
Dear me I've been away for the longest time! And I sincerely apologize for that ^^; however I can finally tell you what both of you wish to know. I actually intended for the cutie mark to be for... Well actually this conversation just may turn into a cutie mark quest... I don't actually have the slightest idea of what my cutie mark is supposed to mean... I've been meaning to change it... But I just never thought of anything when it comes to the topic what makes me special or what I'm good at. :/
