It was the dawn of a dark, new day in Equestria. The land was scarred and lifeless, towns and cities lay in ruin. And few were still alive.
Moonlight Falls was one of the few survivors. She was however, unfortunate to be so. With no-pony else she would surely slip into insanity.
She roamed the ruined city of Manehatten endlessly, searching for scraps of food and water.
Then suddenly she heard something - movement! Was she about to meet a new friend to travel with? Or was it a dangerous foe?
Maple had been trying to follow the mare to see if she could lead him to something. His plan however was ruined when he tripped on a loose floorboard and came crashing down into a pile of carbbage looking dazed and confused.
"Huh. Owch. Hang on, I'll find some medical supplies!" Moonlight exclaimed as she ran into the building basement.
Maple trid to get up but quickly fell down agian into the pile of garbbage. "No its...ok im fine" groaned maple.
Moonlight returned with a couple of slightly dirtied bandages. "Let me help. I'm looking for others to start rebuilding."
Maple still trying to get up stopped and let her bandage up his head "ouch that was silly of me do you by chance have any water?" He asked rubbing his head.
"No, I left my base to find some, plumbing network is completely broken." Moonlight gave a long drawn-out sigh. Shaking her head she added, "You're welcome to join me."
"that sounds wonderful" maple moaned holding back the pain coming from his head
"Great, here's a bucket." Moonlight said as she pulled out a bucket from seemingly nowhere.
"A bucket really ?" Asked maple with a questioning look on his face.
"We got nothin' better." Moonlight responded.
" I guess your right about that " sighed maple as he got up from the pile of garbage his new bandage wrapped around his head "thanks for the bandage" he chuckled trying to hid his embarrassment.
"No probs." Moonlight replied. "Hmm, I wonder where the others are."
Maples grew wide "wait there's more of you ".
"I came here with two others, I think." Moonlight replied sounding slightly insane.
Maple looks around "ok I'm sure we'll meet them there lets get going".
"They were with me. Weren't they?" Moonlight asked herself.
"No there was no one else with you" stated maple looking around a little worried.
Misty Moon and Winter's Bliss both look around the ruined city for any survivors.

Moonlight heard the two voices and galloped outside madly. "Misty, Bliss!" She yelled as if she knew them well. Was she nuts?
White slowly trotted through the ruins of the town, trying to stay in the shadows, as he heard the voices of the other ponies. "Survivors? Here... Well, i am not risking it." Instead of going right up to them - he could hear them behind the next corner - he flapped his wings and rose up to a roof, peeking down carefully.
Moonlight suddenly tripped over a lose paving stone, causing her to come crashing down onto the burning sidewalk. As she came down she spotted a black figure in the distance, blurred besides a wrecked burning vehicle. Moonlight saw the figure for one moment before her face hit the ground painfully.
As Moonlight lifted her head reality came spinning back to her. She dizzily arose and put her hoof to her jaw, quickly knocking it back in place after her fall. As she lowered it again however she noticed a small amount of a red liquid, her blood. She then quickly covered her bleeding nose. "Owww..."
Then she saw the figure more clearly as her vision cleared, but it was only a silhouette. And the figure slowly turned, and walked away, disappearing into the ruined city.
White watched for a moment, slighty shocked, then he took a deep breath and jumped down, landing in front of Moonlight with a dull sound.
"H-Hello? Are you alright?", he asked, while slowly putting a hoof on her shoulder and hoping for a friendly reaction.
"My nose hurts." Moonlight stated bluntly in a saddened and pained tone of voice. "Who are you anyway, where are the others?"
"I am White Shimmer. Nice to meet you, even under these circumstances." He sighed in relief, as there could been more than just a broken nose. "The others... i don't know who they are, but well. The colt is one or two corners behind us, the two others are just three or four streets away. Barely said."
His ears twitched while explaining that, and after a moment he gently stepped back, allowing Moonlight to get up.
"Wha..." Moonlight stuttered as she got up.

Misty and Winter run towards the voice finding a mare.
Are you alright?

Winter examines Moonlight's nose and finds it full of splinters.
Ok I see the problem, just hold still. It might sting a little. She starts dabbing her nose with a mild anesthetic and then carefully plucks each splinter out with tweezers.
Maple came around the corner in a very dizzy sort of fashion "what happened....I'm here" he blurted out.
Oh dear, careful. She steadies the dizzy pony with her magic aura and continues on plucking the splitters out of the other's nose.
"Thanks anypony got Advil and water I'm dieing here" pleaded maple.
Winter levitates over some water and Advil upon request.
Here you go. She says smiling.
Maple drank the water popping a pill and swallowing.
Out of some nearby rubble, some clattering was heard, with black hooves forcing their way through, and a soft voice was heard, more speaking to himself. I refuse...to let it end here...
Winter senses the weak pony's mana and rushes over.
Oh dear. She levitates some bandages and liquid anesthetic patching up the pony as best she can. You'll be just fine, I will take care of you. She levitates the injured pony.
The pony was badly battered more than anything else, with the tattered remains of guard's robes around him.
A royal guard, what happened here if you can remember anything. She holds the stallion up against her body.
Unfortunately, not much...I was sitting in my office. The pony explained, coughing roughly as he walked alongside her.
A flashing beeping red light starts up causeing maple to cough on the water "oh god no not here " he frantically says trying to punch a password into a keypad.
Easy does it sir. She says sweetly as she helps him to one of the beds that Misty had set up under a large tent with a big red cross on it.
Misty hearing the pony tapping on the keypad walks over.
Can I help you?
The pony laid down on the bed, not responding to much. Although he was mostly just covered in cuts and scratches, his cough was frightening.
Maple looked up a look of fear in his eye " get back!" He yelled trying to back up " my energy cell is going critical "
Misty quickly teleports it very far away.

Maple quickly disconnected the power cell placing it on the table "how did you do that?" Maple asked mystified looking over the cell which showed very extensive damage.
I disabled the damaged coils that produced the power hoping it would work. Thank Celestia it did.
Easy does it sir, you are not well. She helps him stand gently holding him so not to irritate the cuts. She smiles with a light blush on her face.
He ignored the hold, but sat still. I'd assume you have medical experience?
Yes I do, I trained at the royal guard academy as a nurse. I can fight, but that isn't my expertise. Medics are just as important as warriors. She says with confidence.
Misty smiles. You got that right Sis.

I am Misty Moon, Captain of the 5th battalion. She salutes.
Don't bother saluting..I didn't demand it yesterday, and I still won't. I am...or was...Commander Checkmate.

Misty goes off to look for more survivors leaving Winter to tend to the injured.
Presumably, there's little of an organized guard left, therefore no need for a commander.
There is always a need for a commander, Misty knows that too which is why she saluted. The ponies need you just as much as they need myself and my sister. We give them hope.
Checkmate sighed, sitting up again. Valid point. In times of chaos, ponies always look for a leader.
That's right we can't give up, the survivors need our strength, we give them hope for a better future. Thinking of how handsome Checkmate is she blushes intensely.
Checkmate checked the remains of his robes before pulling out a shattered pair of glasses. Indeed. And I suppose that I'm expected to take charge.
Of course commander. She uses her magic to fix Checkmate's glasses.

Just myself, Misty, you, and the one with the cybernetic foreleg so far. She unknowingly hugs Checkmate.
Checkmate sat quietly, not acknowledging the hug. Interesting. And Misty's looking for more survivors. Our first order of business should be to find a safer location.
Of course Commander. She doesn't realize she is still hugging him.
"But to do that ...no that would overload the main processing unit" mumbled maple still trying to figure why it had been close to overload.
May I ask why you are holding me? I'm not that injured.
Oh sorry, how embarrassing? She stops hugging Checkmate and hears the other muttering about something. She walks over to Maple.

Checkmate got up, ignoring his pain, and started walking around, looking around the area.
"Well my power source is now broken and without Any tools I can't fix it" he finished grumbling.
She hears Checkmate get up. Whoa, hey! Easy there Commander. You must take it slowly. She lightly wraps a foreleg over his back steadying him. She looks back towards the other. We have tools, but I don't know if they can fix your power source.
Checkmate sighed and steadied. I need to look around and get a feel for the situation.
Maple shakes his head "no it's ok I have my workshop I'll show you " maple explained smiling.
Let's look around together we can cover more ground. I can also sense your mana so if you get tired I will know. She looks towards Maple with a smile. I suppose you should stay in the tent until we return, Commander Checkmate and I are gonna look around for a little bit.
Checkmate turned to Maple. Would your workshop still be standing?
Maple chuckled "where do you think I've been living come I'll show you" he finished begining to walk away.
We'll head there, then. If it's large enough, it could serve as a base. Checkmate followed Maple.
Using her magic to contact Misty Sis we are moving out, we are heading west please catch up with us.

Winter continues to steady Checkmate. Oh here, these will ease the pain. She levitates a blue pill near Checkmate.
Save it for those who are seriously injured. Check ignored the pill, walking on his own. While occasionally he stumbled, for the most part he was steady.
Ok. How are you holding up? She asks Maple. I don't think I got all the splinters out of your nose.
"It's ok thanks iv had worse " as he said this he put his hoof up to show .

Misty catches up and walks near the others.

Commander, where are we going?
To a workshop owned by the pony with a cybernetic leg. If it's large enough, we can store supplies there and make it a base.
A tear could be seen as he began " it happened a long time ago before any of this happened, I had been accepted into a new research facility that was located deep in the everfree forest" he smiled at the memory" I was just a simple weapons and bio engineer at the time working on projects like warheads and that's when I met her " sniffs"she was the most beautiful mare I had ever seen but unfortunately I never got around to telling her that " he began to cry softly .
Sounds like a plan.
Oh my, what happened? She wipes Maples face with a tissue.
Checkmate nodded and continued walking quietly, his eyes never sitting still.
Misty kept her head on a swivel too.
After taking a deep breath maple continued "it was a routine check of the warheads which invlovled the whole science team being there, I was doing one last check to. Make sure everything was ok, I fond as I was ending that the cooling system was broken meaning the warheads had started to overheat . Before I could say anything there was a bright flash of light and. The force of the blast knocked me out, I woke up tofind this replaceing my Hoof and eye " he finished a stream of tears going down his check " the worst part is that I was the o my one to survive".
Hold it together. Checkmate said simply, without a kind tone. You survived this, and you cannot fall apart now, understand?!
That's so sad, I'm sorry you had to go through that. She gives Maple more tissues.

Good. Checkmate kept walking now, looking around.
I'll get the rest of those splinters out from your nose when we get there. She falls back a bit walking alongside Checkmate with a loving smile at him. Thinking about what he might think of her.
Checkmate paid no attention to her, mainly keeping his eyes open for danger. There would be time later to ask her why she kept doting on him.
Maple stopped "we're here " he finished punching buttons on a hidden keypad. Auseing a large door to open I n a place that looked like a plain wall " I give you the workshop " maple declared turning on a light switch causeing the lights to illuminate a huge warehouse filled with machines and bits and Bob's of stuff.
Misty liked what she saw while Winter continued doting on Checkmate.
Interesting. Large enough to store supplies and still have living room. I believe that this would function as a base of operations.
Likewise Commander. I'll be right back. Misty teleports to the tent teleporting it and herself back to the workshop.
Winter keeps staring at Checkmate.

" I'm glade you liked it " replied maple walking over to a table with the power cell and started to work on it.

Misty takes down the tent, but leaves four beds out for resting on.

Maple continued to work on the power cell useing his trusty blowtorch, he bagan to hum a song "good bye Mary will we ever meet again" .
We cannot say that with certainty. If we survived, then others may have as well. Checkmate answered.
Misty walks up to Maple. Do you have a grinding wheel?
I hoped other have survived too, but I haven't sensed any others. She stares at him smiling lovingly.

After awhile of tinkering and fiddling with the cell maple managed to get it fixed. Placeing it back into his arm he trotted over to his fireing range " alright let's see how good a shot I am" maple whispers to himself letting his hoof transform into the plasma cannon stage . The chamber became bathed in blue light as he charged it, then with a simple blink of his eye there was a loud whoosh as the concentrated beam of energywas released and sent at the target which became dust in secounds.
I mean....umm maybe...umm. She starts stammering incoherently with her face beet red.
Misty watches with awe. That is awesome Maple. Where did you get that?
Maple chuckled " ha still got it and yes over there " he finished blowing the steam out of the end of his cannon.
Thank you. She walks over and starts sharpening her red crystal bladed katana.
Checkmate tilted his head. Are you alright?
"It came with the arm along with a nano sword and a blowtorch" as hé explained hé sent though thé different tools.
................ She gives Checkmate a playful wink while hiding her face slightly behind her right wing. She is giving subtle hints that she has feelings for Checkmate.
Nice, I forged this sword with my own hooves. The katana reflected light in different angels.

It finally hit Check, and he blushed fiercely. Er... For once, he didn't have the words to describe this.
"Yeah well this was given to me to save my life with out it I would have bleed out" he stated sitting down onhis own bed that was formed in the corner with machine parts hanging everywhere.
Winter silently invites Checkmate to hug her still hiding her face behind her wing.

She let out a squeal of glee hugging him back gently and nuzzling him.

A dark figure stands on the edge of the town it's face and body covered by a mask and strange suit yellow eyes peer through the otherwise darkened mask. The pony heads into town and begins to wander
Checkmate blushed fiercely, sitting with Winter. You're seemingly very knowledgeable, and very attractive.
"I preety sure you can guess " he chuckled
I won't mettle with her life as she doesn't with mine, it is her business what she does with her life. I think I should have another go at finding more survivors.

Misty could see the figure wandering the darkness seemingly able to see. From a distance the mare could only see the glow of it's yellow eyes.
"And now for a toast " maple chukled to himself as he fished out a bottle of cider " to those that have lost there lives or lives of there loved ones and to you honeyblossem I'll keep on fighting " and with that he downed the entire bottle .
Winter holds up a glass too.
Winter carefully grabs his left foreleg walking him to another room.
Easy does it Commander. I'm gonna clean you up. She readies a bucket of warm soapy water and a large sponge.
Who goes there?! She draws her katana.
Checkmate blushed hard. I can clean myself, Winter...
Oh ok, if you need help just ring this bell. She leaves the bell in easy reach for him and walks back to the main room.
Maple stubbled over to a countrol panel activating the base defenses then went and sat on his big chair and relaxed.
The figure seems to.let out a huff almost like a beast So then there are other survivors huh a voice says however not coming from the pony but a voice inside of Misty's head Trust me I bring you no harm
Checkmate washed himself gently, making sure he wasn't seriously hurt. He then stepped back into the main room. If anypony needs me, I need to sleep. Wake me up if you need anything. He got onto a cot and quickly fell asleep.

Winter walks over to the cot where Checkmate is sleeping quietly watching him.
Ahh telepathy, interesting, I thought only magic wielders could do that. She puts away her katana. Come I will lead you to safety. She heads back to the workshop.
Winter moves a cot next to Checkmate's and lies down quickly falling asleep, she soon cuddles up to Checkmate in her sleep.

White shruged and picked up his bag, before trotting after him, looking around carefully. "Um... Where are we going? Do you have a plan?", he asked, while jumping over a hole in the street.

Not much further now, we are almost there. She sighs from exhaustion. Another sleepless night. She says as she sees the sun off to the east.

A barely audible whimper was heard from under some rubble.
Misty hears the whimper from a nearby pile of rubble and starts carefully moving the pile around.

Misty enters carrying the blue filly leading the beast inside. Don't be alarmed, I brought more survivors.
Indeed...and excellent. Checkmate sat up on the cot, stretching before hopping down.
Winter's stomach growls loudly which she blushes. I hope we have food here, I've had barely anything to eat the past couple days. Also where is the mare's room?
Misty sits down rubbing the filly's back and humming a lullaby.
More likely than not, we'll need to scavenge some food and dig a latrine.
The tiny blue filly was shivering, carrying signs of undernourishment, and still crying. She had blue fur, dark blue long mane and tail, in her tail a pink to purple sash, her mane covering her teary eyes, she was a unicorn and her flank was blank. Her estimated age was around 3, though she could be younger since she was really tiny.
I don't know if I can use a latrine, I've always had a private room for that. I guess I'll have to find something else.
She heads outside finding a large pile of rubble, she walks behind it. A few moments later she returns inside.
I only brought medical supplies which is all I can carry with my saddlebags. Misty and I got what we could find and started searching for survivors. Her eyes start tearing up. I saw very many.....ponies had their stories cut short.....so to say..... Sniffles and whines with tears streaming down her face.
Does anypony have anything to eat, this filly is starving. She wraps her with a spare sheet.
Keep her here, I'll go find something. Checkmate stepped outside quickly, going scavenging.
I'll help you Commander. She follows him outside after drying her face. Sorry about losing my composure, it is very hard to see things like that. She looks around for any bushes that may be growing fruit on them.
Checkmate searched through the rubble of homes, hoping to find any non-perishable foods.
Winter helps using her magic being careful not to topple the house down. She finds cans of veggies.
Thank Celestia I found some food, now we have something to eat. She counts the cans. I found thirty cans and a can opener.
Checkmate found a few more cans. Let's return with this. We can set up more sustainable food once we have the resources.
Alright Commander. She walks alongside smiling at him lovingly.
Misty continues humming a lullaby rocking back and forth while rubbing the filly's back.
Shhhhhh, it's ok, you'll be just fine.
Checkmate walked quietly, keeping his eyes open again. Once they were back, he quickly opened up a can of carrots for the filly.
Moonlight had returned and looked displeased. "Oi, you lot! We're moving!"
Oh, good you found some food. She levitates the can near the filly's mouth. Here you go little girl, eat up.
Winter puts the rest of the cans and the can opener on an empty shelf then returns to Checkmate nuzzling up to him after eating some food.
The tiny filly calmed down from her crying finally and opened her tear filled eyes, they were red and crossed, she was still occasionally sobbing.
Checkmate sat with his eyes closed, thinking. Perhaps rain catchers and gardens...
Misty cuddles the filly drying her face with her hoof.
Commander, what are you thinking? She rubs his back gently.

The tiny blue filly sniffed the air, her tummy rumbling, her nose guided her eyes to the can of carrots. All the time she had her ears folded, and her fur seemed fluffy, she was scared, even now when offered food she was still scared.
White sighed slightly and made himself a mental note about getting to know these ponies better, before dashing away in a careful but still fast speed. He knew this probally wasn't the best thing to do right now, but White felt like he really should find some other supplies, and would surely be able to find them again if they move.
Moonlight came up to the filly. "Take it, there's more back at my base." She suddenly turned to the others. "Hey! I said we're moving, let's go!"
((We've already moved, Snowcraft. We're in Maple's warehouse now, which is going to be a base of operations.))
The tiny blue filly took the can shyly and ate as much as her tiny body could take in, eating most of it but leaving a bit.

Moonlight sighed. "Fine, I'll just go back to my team's base, it's not like we don't need any help, we got food, water, fortifications, weapons, fuel, warmth and - What was that?"
I loud explosion had gone off.
"That was in the direction of my base! There was innocent ponies in there!"
At the sound of an explosion the tiny blue filly jumped down and galloped full speed to the nearest hiding spot, under a table, under a sofa, anything she could get under, there she curled up in a ball and shook.
"Come on, we have to make sure they're okay!"
Just one moment later, White came dashing back, several cans in his bags which looked like they had been squished in hecticly. "What was that? It wasn't here, right?...Your base?", he asked quickly.
White took a deep breath and noticed the hiding filly. "Hm? Oh..." He bowed down and smiled, though he still had this stupid memory about not knowing how to deal with little ponies in his head. "Psh... it's ok. I am sure they are alright."
EEEEK She hides her face at the sound of the explosion tightly hugging Checkmate.

Misty grabs the blue filly and the can of food.
Shhhhh, it's ok little girl. She levitates some carrots near her mouth.
The tiny blue filly tried to fight with Misty, trying to break free, but she was weak, easily held by the big pony.
"O-Ok then... I would mess it up anyways...", he whispered, blushing slightly, before he turned to Moonlight.
Settle down little girl, it's alright. Misty hugs the filly.
After a while of convincing the little filly calmed down.
Winter settles some but still hugging Checkmate.
Want some more carrots little girl? She smiles sweetly.
The tiny filly shook her head.

the tiny filly nodded to the question, but she did not speak to prove it.
The sound of more explosions, not quite as loud, but still notable. "Eight, nine, ten... Eleven."
Moonlight sighed and looked outside, suddenly the majority of Manehtten's ruins we're aflame.
The explosions were freaking the filly out of her mind, she struggled as much as possible for a filly her size.

The pony heads back to the entrance room looking around for any ponies the mask of visor begins to vanish revealing his muzzle half of it was normal with jet black fur. However the other half was a dark substance with purple outlining it that part of the mouth was jagged like it wasn't natural

I think I am supposed to enter the machine. She opens the canopy and looks inside.

She enters the cockpit which the canopy closes. The machine activates which the screen boots up and a male computer voice is heard.
Thy pony of purest heart, it is an honor to finally be in thine presence. Mana amplifiers online. Weapons systems online. Mana Drive active and stable.
All the cables and hoses detach and the hidden doors above it open. The craft starts hovering.

We found it inside the building behind a hidden door locked by a numeric keypad protected by an ancient spell. I cracked the code. Apparently only a pony with the purest of hearts can wield this craft. I am still getting used to piloting it though.

She thinks of gently setting it down near the workshop and takes the helmet off. The cockpit opens and she exits the craft.

Before the door closed maple poked his head out "umm nopony come in here it's kinda off limits" he finished his voice kinda uneasy.

Well my sister found a stockpile of food and supplies as well as a means to defend ourselves from their weapons.
"Sounds great." Mage said.
Well I guess make yourself at home. She pulls out another bed and unfolds it. These aren't the most comfortable, but the will do.
"It's better than sleeping on the ground." Mage pointed out, a smile on her face.
"So... Where are the others?" She asked.
Sis went to go get Checkmate, Maple and the yellow eyed pony went down stairs. This here is Blue. Misty holds the sleeping Blue so Mage can see.

Soulmane struggled for air as to tried to escape from a pile of rubble. After many attempts of reclaiming freedom from his stoney prison, he stopped, and hoped someone would be able to find and rescue him.
I'm going to see if I can find anymore survivors. She opens the door and walks outside listening for any sounds of shifting rubble.
Soulmane sat there, waiting and waiting.
After a long while, he began hearing footsteps.
"Who's there?" he yelled.
Hang on, I'll get you out of there. She runs over and starts lifting the rubble carefully with her magic.

After a few moments, Soulmane was able to escape, but his right wing seemed to be broken.
Are you ok sir? She examines him. Oh dear, your wing. Come, we have medical supplies at the base. She starts walking in the direction of the base.

Misty returns with some splints and bandages. Hold still this may hurt a bit. She gently touches the wing and carefully tries to set the bones so they can heal.
Very well then. Let's put it to use. Is there room in there to store all of these supplies?
I think I can use my magic while piloting the craft. She enters the cockpit and puts the helmet on. She then uses her levitation spell which due to the mana amplifiers she lifts all of the supplies. I never could do that before, I couldn't even carry half of this stuff on my own.
Very interesting...let's return to the base and debrief, as it were.
Soulmane begins to cringe, but slowly starts to relax.

Winter enters carrying some supplies. We're back, we also hooked up the workshop to the power grid, so we have electricity now.
Misty brings Soulmane some food and a can opener.
Here you go. She sees Winter and Checkmate enter with the supplies. Nice haul, we can survive off of this for quite some time.

I guess we should start readying the land for growing food, if we can even do so. She looks through a box and pulls out pouches of seeds for all sorts of vegetables and fruit. The land is pretty tore up, I don't know if we can cultivate the land enough to make it sustainable for plants to grow.
Realistically, we may have to grow them in pots or similar, rather than trusting them to just the ground.

Checkmate closed his eyes to think. We could keep them outside during the day, only returning them inside so that they're safe from possible thieves.
I have been so wanting to have an actual meal for the longest time. Even though I eat enough throughout the day, I'm still hungry. I have my mom's appetite. She giggles.
Misty goes into the room that she heard was off limits and presses on picture. She then enters the door that opened and sees Maple watching a video.

Why nuclear shells? I have read up on those. They do a lot of damage and cause fallout.

I didn't get any sleep, I stayed up all night standing guard. It is one of my tasks I preform as a royal guard. She yawns. It's alright though, I rather keep every pony safe than sleep. She smiles sweetly at Blue.
"Its probably nothing mabye sleep iv haven't had much sleep in the past few days" he chuckled then winced at the pain.
"So now that i am up you can sleep and i will guard you." the filly smiled widely.
Checkmate nodded, walking up to the ship from where he'd been outside thinking. Get some sleep. If you're exhausted, then you're useless.
We are lucky Winter stayed up tonight to stand guard. I feel bad though, she should't be the only one to stand guard. I know she wants to protect all of us with her craft, but she is only one pony. She has limitations like all of us.

Certain crops grow faster...that's obvious. Potatoes, carrots...hmm....we'll want to focus on easy to grow and filling crops.
I agree, fast growing foods would be best for our current dilemma. I wonder about getting water to the plants though, it's not like we have running water here. The water we do have is mainly for drinking, we can't really use it for the plants since it lacks the minerals that tap water has.
Best case scenario would be for rain water and rain catchers to suffice. However, if worst comes to worst, we may be able to dig some exploratory wells or set up an aqueduct system. It would take time, but it would work.
I don't know if I can trust the weather, we might get acid rain.
We can't know for certain...I'd wait for rain and test it.

There was a sudden light shake on the ground as a green streak burst high up through the sky then comes to a screeching halt. A green dot holds still in mid air as if it was watching events unfold on the ground. After about a minute the green dot turns into a streak of green again as it disappears into the clouds forming in the sky seemingly causing lightning flashes in the clouds that it burst into.

She shoots down all but one before it starts closing in on the base.
NO! She places the craft in the path using her amplified force field. The last one doesn't even disturb the amplified force field. The craft calculates the point of origin of the Project Boss warheads showing it in Winter's mind. NO MORE! I WILL NOT LET YOU BRING HARM TO ANYPONY EVER AGAIN!
The craft flies off at full speed towards the point of origin finding a long range cannon. Winter growls releasing the RCCMs and firing the missiles and plasma cannon. The long range cannon is destroyed in seconds with a loud explosion. She starts heading back to base.

Sulfur let out an annoyed grone as she wondered the street, her brother alert as ever as he trailed behind her. They had been walking for days and not a single soul in sight. Diablo had said they should rest for a bit, so the two found one of the still standing buildings and entered looking for food, water and anything resembling life.
Sensing the two ponies. I'll be right back. She teleports to the stallion and mare. Grab on, I will bring you to safety. She readies to teleport back to the base.
Sulfur yelled when she saw the mare. 'Where the hell did you come from!' She backed off in a defensive pose her wings ridged. Diablo looked at the mare with confusion. 'Who are you?' He asked no hostility in his voice only confusion.
Please calm down, my name is Winter's Bliss. I am a royal guard. Please grab on, I will take you to safety. She has her teleportation spell ready.
Sulfur raised her head.'Ha you think just because your in the royal guard that I'll trust you!?" She glared at the mare. Diablo sighed. 'Sorry for her... Harsh words she can be a bit abrasive around other ponies.' Diablo grabbed his sister and took the mares hoof.
It's alright. I understand that not everypony trusts royal guards. She teleports them to the base.
Sulfur stagger from the effects of the magic. 'Thanks a lot for your help.' She said sourly with a hint of malice in her tone, before she collapsed onto the floor. Diablo sighed as he walked up the winter. "Thanks for your help. Sorry for any trouble we may have caused.'
'Dia I don't feel do good.' Sulfur moaned before she got sick.
Maple had been surprised when winter appeared with some strange new ponies in tow

More survivors, I guess we should find some more food soon.
Sulfur stood on shakey legs looking at winter. 'There's no need I'll be fine I just can't Handel major amounts of magic power. So you trying to heal me will make it worse.' Diablo looked at the other ponies in the room. 'So how'd you find each other?'.
Winter stops her healing spell still panting. Sorry, you just suddenly collapsed and I thought you were injured. She sits down rubbing her belly and moans with discomfort. The important thing is that you are alright.

It's still going to be some time before the plants we are growing start growing food. We are going to need more food soon, especially since I'm not just feeding myself. She levitates her saddlebag over grabbing a bottle of vitamin chews and eats a few of them. I hope we find some hay for me to eat, my tummy has been rather sensitive lately.
"Dont fret that's why I was seeing what iv got down stairs in the cafeteria" maple implied getting up and heading down stairs.
Some hay would be nice, but other easy to eat foods will do.
"Hmm now what is a easy to eat food ?" Maple asked himself as he enters the cafeteria.

After going through some cupboards maple finally fond a bag of hay grabbing. It he ran upstairs " here you go winter" maple painted handing the bag over.

The pony was sitting on a rock outside he turns around seeing Winter with his mask now off she could see his face most of his muzzle and face seemed normal though one half of his muzzle and one eye seemed off. For one the mouth he had on one side didn't seem natural like it was made my hoof with something sharp and while one eye was a regular dark purple with a pupil the other was nothing but an abyss of yellow. His mane was grey stained with black around the edges. With the mask off he gave of a dark vibe.

Interesting, I have a similar ability called magic sense. It allows me to see in all directions and see any pony's intentions before the act.

Being a royal guard has it's perks. We also got the things we need for raising foals and fabric for making blankets for keeping warm during the cold nights. Normal ponies wouldn't be quick enough to connect anything. He dispels the blade and fires his plasma buster towards Ama, it whooshes and crackles of electricity.

The tiny blue filly rolled to her back and stretched her hooves, yawning and opening her eyes. She smiled at Winter. "Morning." She whispered and cuddled up to her.
As long as no harm comes to the survivors, do as you wish. Just so you know the surviving ponies are required to rebuild. Not only the once grand cities, but the population as well.

I hope my dad isn't too rough with Ama, he has grown powerful after becoming a god. She watches the battle using her magic sense.

It is more of play fighting to test each other's abilities.

"Okay." The tiny blue filly nodded, her tummy growling cutely and she looked down and blushed. "Lets play 'make breakfast for a filly'." she chuckled.

The little blue filly giggled and took the can, eating the green beans quickly. "Thank you." she said with her mouth full.

Now that her tummy was fully Blue set the rest of the can on the bed and slipped down from it, stretching some more. "Can we go out and pway?"
You aren't the only one who is hungry. She levitates over a jar of pickles, opens it, then eats all the pickles and drinks the brine. She lets out a belch. Pardon me. She giggles sheepishly.

As the blade strikes Ama her body shatters leaving only Crystal shards. There is a giggle from behind Dark as Ama swings at him her body emitting a dark aura

Dark Hooves effortlessly dodges the attack and fires his plasma buster at point blank range, he knows his own magic doesn't affect him.
"Umm should he be firing that close " maple asked
Ama moves out of the way of the blasts one of the crystals absorbing it so it doesn't hit the base please do be more careful She says with a smirk. Pillars of dark crystals shoot up around Dark kakokakokako kako ka ko She chants firing blue flames at Dark as the crystals glow brightly

Both ponies breathed a sigh of relief as bruises and scrapes healed, providing a much needed relaxed feeling. Moondust winced slightly as a broken rib he had kept a secret from Sweetheart healed.
Wow that feels great, I wish I could have done that for us, but we haven't been at our strongest for awhile. Moondust stretched, releasing some built up tension.
Oh, thank you so much, Winter's Bliss. Sweetheart blush slightly as she looked at her no longer battle scared hooves.
The two were malnourished and exhausted, but the healing had made them forget entirely.
Please help yourself to some food. We have fresh picked veggies from our garden. I hope Maple gets the water pump fixed, we need running water.
Moondust immediately pulled a carrot from the garden with his magic. Glad that works normally again. He levitated the carrot over to him, happy his magic was more consistent and powerful then it had been. He grabbed a second carrot, and levitated it to Sweetheart, before taking a bite of his own.
Thank you. Sweetheart gratefully accepted the hospitality, before grabbing the carrot between her teeth.
Moondust munched on his carrot, thinking about how great it had been to use magic normally again, and to eat food.

Including you two there are eight. My dad is here too, but he is only here to check on us. We aren't the only survivors, the royal family and some others have survived too.

The ball of flames explodes near them which they run off. None are injured. Misty was only aiming to scare them off.

The voice of a filly giggles from behind Kato Hi there! She says with a smile
Kato is once again caught off guard,this time by nothing more than a young filly.Spinning around Kato stares down at the little pony"Oh.....hello there little one"Kato smiled kindly finding the filly adorable before looking around once again"Are you the only one here.......are there others"He asked curious and hoping that he would have more company than a little filly no matter how cute she was.
Sweetheart slowly lowered her hoof and nervously glanced around, she was a bit afraid of this pony. Right, it's nice to meet you too.
Good you made it. Come inside, I'll get you some food and water. I am Winter's Bliss, nice to meet you. She leads him inside.
Kato is met with another voice,this one very familiar as he was positive the voice was the very same he had heard just before he witnessed the flare that brought him to this haven.Turning around Kato lays his eyes upon another pony,this one older than the young filly now behind him again.The pony called herself winters bliss and offered Kato food and water and while Kato had no appetite he supposed he could use some water"Oh......thank you"Kato managed to get out following the pony inside what was a rather impressive restructure they were using as a safe haven"How many ponies are here"Kato asked almost quietly.
So far nine ponies, including you. Of course that isn't counting the foals Misty and I are carrying. She levitates some clean water over to Kato. It isn't cold, but it is clean. A shame we don't have running water though, we only have water to drink that is it.

Sweetheart sat down before speaking. Oh no, I don't think I would have made it alone... Moondust helped me, he's sleeping right now, he's the only one that was with me. I feel bad for him, his whole life just snatched away from him, he's just out of high school, he was going to go to college. Sweetheart frowned, her ears flattened. Sorry... I tend to get emotional over little things. She looked down at her hooves, before looking back up at Flame.
A voice whispers into maples ear "sir your vital's are dropping"
Maple are you ok, you don't look so good. She gets her medical supplies.
Everything slows down as maple collapses onto the ground
Misty starts to hook up a breathing machine and EKG machine.
She patches up the wounds and damage mechanics of the cybernetic eye.
You'll be ok, don't give up on me.
So Misty dear. You know the offer still stands just say it and I can save him ^-^

Sweetheart sat waiting for Flame's psychic reply. Meanwhile, Moondust was thrashing on the cot, more dreams haunting him.
Winter sees Moondust thrashing about. May the clouds be peaceful. She casts a soothing spell to ease Moondust.
Moondust settled down, his blanket around him like a cocoon. He began lightly snoring as he suddenly dreamed of happier times, and mumbled something about frosting.
Trust me no worries there I can get the same over some subjects...
Sweetheart looked at Flame and smiled slightly. Her bright blue eyes were darker then they used to be, this new world having taken it's toll on her. She was glad she was with ponies again, other then Moondust. Suddenly she smiled big, the first time she had in a while.
Hm I can tell you and your friend have been though a lot at least now you have a place to rest
Kato,after having taking a much needed rest waisted no time in pulling his own weight around the haven.A colony of only 10 ponies who for all they knew could be the only survivors for miles and miles could hardly qualify as a civilization but Kato was simply glad to no longer be alone in this new world.Kato having no specific qualifications to anything other than music was forced to use his until this point wasted intelligence.That coupled with a bit of his high level magic lead him to invent a rudimentary hot and cold water dispersal system in which ponies could collect either hot or cold water for there use.Kato having been a late arrival questioned his chances of fitting in with the other ponies,he hoped to remedy this by pulling his small silver harmonica from his satchel and playing a high pitched but beautiful song with it.Kato soon found himself once again lost in his own music,this was the norm however when he played any sort of music.
We started in Ponyville, came to Manehatten in hopes that the biggest city in Equestria would have been semi intact and recovering... I guess we were wrong, but I'm so happy to have come across you and this group. We've been alone, together, out there. Sweetheart's blue eyes teared slightly. I'm glad you've welcomed us, thank you.

Oh, how did you keep yourself together... I was losing it without anypony around. Sweetheart dug a hoof into the ground as she spoke.

The world begins to warp around them as Ama grabs her hoof smiling to the mare as markings appear across her body for a few seconds before fading away leaving a large circle burned into the ground Alright let's go The demon replies walking over to Maple resting her hoof on his chest. The mare starts chanting the pharse Ga, ga, ga, asore over and over as red crystals sprout from the ground around them. Atone thy selves for dying To the horrible outcomes preluded by the gods.By misplacing the bonfire at the god's gate and by extolling us we give thy another chance. A red burst of light surrounds the room before seeping into Maple quickly repairing all damages done to his body
Maples eyes shoot open as he gasps in air
Maple! She hugs him tightly.
"What happened" he asked coughing
Ama saved you.
"But that means that you " maple began but instead just hugged misty back

Sweetheart jumped at the sudden flash of light. She ran towards it and skidded to a halt in the door way. You made it back, that flash was you I hope.

Maple sat still on his cot and then with such sudden force he punched a hole though the wall " gosh darn what I have I done it's all my fault" he started to cry
Sweetheart whimpered a little at Maple's sudden punch into the wall. Oh my... Demon? Are you okay Maple?

UGH! I shouldn't have asked! Stupid, stupid, stupid. Sweetheart scolded herself with a very quiet whisper.
"Its ok sweet" maple sobbed

" I'm going for a walk " maple got up and headed up to his skyscraper viewing spot
Maple wait! She follows him outside.
Maple waited with his head hung low as the bright moonlight shown on him
Misty sits down next to Maple.
Sweetheart turned away as the couple went off, and went to go check on the still sleeping Moondust.
"Man it sure is beautiful up here" maple chuckled
It sure is Maple. She cuddles him.
Sweetheart trotted quietly to Moondust's side and watched him sleep for a moment. Sleep well Moon, you deserve it. She adjusted the blanket that was covering him and went to her own cot to rest, her actions bringing back memories of caring for her brothers and sisters at the orphanage back in Vanhoover.
"Remember when I first met you" he chuckled

A tiny blue filly, struck ill with an unknown decease, finally awoke from what seemed like an eternal slumber. She yawned and stretched before sitting up, still having her eyes closed. Her mane a mess, as expected from somepony who slept for so long, and her fur seemed to be a bit more fluffy than usual. She yawned once more before attempting to open her eyes. First a bit, closing them quickly as he became blinded by the suns rays. After a few seconds of prolonged waiting she opened her eyes again, this time the suns light was far more gentle to her sight. She rubbed her eyes and looked around, confused from her surroundings. "H-Hello?" she called out nervously.
A burgundy pony wearing an old and beaten hat stood a few yards away. His eyes were wide with surprise, and his mouth was full of the mare's surviving supplies.
Maple had been working down in the lab trying to come up with a serum that could cure a headache

Azure Wave was walking through the desolate wastelands of Equestria. Water wasn't a problem, he had magic for that. Food, however, was typically hard to come by. Another problem was the incredibly bossy Changeling Queen he was accompanying.
"As soon as we find the next village, we stop and rest. Then we plan our next destination. Understand?"
Azure only nodded, as they both continued their trek.
Quick Silver walked warily along the darkened lands. Her eyes scanning the area as she moved, making sure she was safe at all times. The mare hoped she'd arrive somewhere she could grab some supplies, as she was running low on food, water and other items she may need.

Queen Nightshade and Azure kept walking, until the Changeling pulled both of them to the ground.
"Shh. Look there."
Quite far off in the distance, she spied Quick Silver.
"They could be dangerous. Wait for them to pass." She whispered.
The tiny blue filly cuddled cutely with Winter. "What happened?" she questioned, still a bit confused.
Quick Silver continued walking along, watching all around her. The unicorn stopped for a moment, levitating an almost empty bottle of water out of her bag and taking a few sips. She put it back quickly and began walking again. She thought she saw something in the distance, but brushed it off as just a bush or something of the sorts.
The Queen paused for a second, before realizng something.
"Wait, they could be on their way to a town...Here's the plan; we tail them until we reach a village or wherever it is they're headed. Then, you distract them while I check the village for food. Am I clear? You have permission to speak."
The blue stallion nodded. "Y-Yes, Your Highness."
Quick Silver continued on her way for a while. After a few minutes she noticed something in the distance. She stared ahead as shapes began forming into what looked like buildings. A spark of hope erupted inside her, causing the mare to speed up a little bit.
She began trotting, but slowed to a walk again as she walked up to the seemingly abandoned village.
The duo had tailed her to the city. As expected, it was completely wreaked.
"Okay, Azure. Go."
The Queen left to circle around, but not before shooting Azure with a light laser; it made him look like he'd been hurt.
Putting on a fake limp, he began to move towards Quill.
"Help! Somep-pony help!" He called out.
Quick Silver turned to face Azure. She noticed the limp, but stood her ground. "Are you okay?" she called, then realised how stupid that question was. 'Of course he's not okay, he's limping you silly mare.' she thought to herself. "What happened to you?" she called out quickly, watching him approach.
"A-Ambush..." He said, reaching her. "Some ponies came out of nowhere...took all my supplies..."
He then fell to the floor, trying to buy time.
Meanwhile, Nightshade was able to get into the city. The first building she found had absolutely nothing useful in it. Circling around, it was evident that somepony had already been here. But, however, she had all the luck in the world when, of all things, she found a nearly full fridge.
"This will do..."
She then began cramming as much stuff into her satchel as possible.
Quick Silver frowned. She hadn't seen anypony for Celestia knows how long. Maybe she'd just gotten lucky and missed whoever attacked the stranger. She held out her hoof, offering him help up. "I think I have some left over medical supplies, if we find a safe area in this village I can patch you up." she said softly, flicking her short charcoal mane away from her eyes.
"N-No!" Azure shouted. "They said they were on their way here...they could be in there!"
Nightshade was almost done with her raid. The food wasn't for her, it was for Azure. As long as he was alive, she could feed off his love, but he needed food for that.
Quick Silver frowned. She was unsure if a group that sounded as bad as she'd been told would tell their victim where they were headed, unless he happened to overhear them speaking to each other about it.
The unicorn sighed. "It's not safe here either. I'm not sure anywhere is safe really." she confessed, her teal eyes darting across the area quickly. "I could set up a quick shield spell, some kind of protective bubble around us so we can't be attacked while I'm helping you." she murmured.
"I, um..."
Azure didn't know what to say. If she tried to treat him, she'd see that he wasn't hurt. Then Her Highness might get mad...
"T-Then..."
"That'll do, Azure."
He looked up from the ground to see Queen Nightshade standing there, a pouch full of food.
He looked at Quill. "Sorry about that..."
He then dropped his limp, and walked over to the Changeling Queen.
Quick Silver frowned. "Wh-what's going on? You said you were attacked!" she said, ears pointed back. "And who are you?" she asked the new unfamiliar pony.
"I am Queen Nightshade, unfortunate former ruler of the Changeling Kingdom. This is my personal servant, Azure Wave. We needed supplies, so we tailed you here. I regret to inform you that the whole city seemes to have been completly searched. Well, apart from this."
Azure looked at the floor. He hated tricking ponies.
"S-Sorry..." He murmered, but was met with a stomp from the Queen.
"Did I give you permission to speak?!"
He jumped, before shaking his head.
Quick Silver sighed. "Great." she murmured. She wondered if maybe she would have enough of her own left over supplies, that she could use sparingly until she found another town. But after quickly going over her belongings inside her head, she realised it was unlikely.
"Well..." she glanced at Azure for a second and sighed again. "I should be on my way if the town is empty." She nodded politely before turning around to leave.
The Queen rolled her eyes. "I'm honestly suprised you didn't ask to join us. We have all the food, and Azure's water magic means drink isn't a problem. The only reason he's with me is because I need love to feed off."
Azure sighed. More like she needed a lapdog to do everything for her.
"Well, it feels impolite to just ask that." Quick Silver said. In reality, she was unsure about joining two strangers. Although, it was currently her best chance at survival. "But, if you wouldn't mind me coming along I'd appreciate it." she said, blushing softly.
In a certain place at a certain time, an electrical spark appeared on the ground. Without notice, a green portal appeared after it, and Doomato (a blue pony with brown, spiky hair, baby blue eyes, a brown fedora with a yellow stripe and a light-blue and White striped tie) leaped out, the portal closing behind him. "HA!!! Who Zeeblezoobled this dimension!?" He rolled around the ground, laughing.

Quick Silver began following, catching up with Azure and walking silently. She cast a sideglance to Azure, wondering how he'd come to work for the Queen. If he was a changeling, wouldn't he have gone back to that form by now? She brushed the questions away, deciding another time would be better to find answers.
"I don't believe I ever really introduced myself." The unicorn said. "My name is Quick Silver, but feel free to just call me Silver."
Of course not Blue. Eat your fill.
Winter eats some pickles from the jar.
Blue nodded and looked around the available food items, taking out a whole carrot and nibbling on it.
"I introduced us perfectly clearly." The Queen said. "Unfortunatly, we are not familiar with the landscape here. Do you know any other areas we could travel to?"

"To be honest I'm not quite sure where we are. I think the village we just left was a place called Ponyville, but I could be wrong." she said, looking around for any familiar landmarks. Her eyes fell upon a distant mountain, with a now crumbling castle atop it.
"That old building on the side of the mountain seems to be Canterlot Castle, so that would mean Canterlot is a few days in that direction. Have you been there yet?" she asked. Canterlot was a big city and if they hadn't been there yet, there was a possibility of there being something useful.
Azure suddenly ran forward. "Canterlot?!"
Looking up at the wreaked city, he then lowered his head.
"My...my family..."
Quick Silver frowned in a concerned fashion at Azure's reaction. "H-hey, don't worry. We can only see the castle from here and that doesn't look as bad as some things I've seen. And your family could even have gotten out, or are still in there alive and well." she suggested, smiling lopsidedely in an attempt to calm his nerves.
After finishing the pickles, she lets out a loud beach and giggles.
Pardon me. She blushes.
