Just seems to me that she wants to learn all forms of magic in under 1000 days of earning her CM.
A year is 365 days a year...
3 years is 995 days...
So she wants to learn all forms of magic in under 3 years and 5 days.

you've pretty much explained this, but not exactly all sorts of magic. She is kinda testing herself or competing with herself to learn as fast as she can. :D
